This is officially now a napkin math podcast.
You guys should probably also clear up that the completionist also does not have FU money; FU in this case standing for Fully Uneaten, because he ate the money
Hahahahaha
It seems like people really don't understand the "f**k you" part of the phrase.
If *fuck you* money equals "Pewdiepie" money, then it was a dumb comment.
0.01% of population make that kind of money.
However, if you have a house and a working wife that makes 30k-50k, you can easily survive with your additional 50k per year.
@@MazingerDestro Yeah that's not "f**k you" money though. The "f**k you" part of this phrase means you are independently wealthy and aren't beholden to anyone. You can tell anyone who wants to buy you "f**k you." That's the entire point of this phrase.
@@MazingerDestro Yeah, survival money isn't fuck you money, especially if you have to keep making it, it doesn't have to be PewDiePie money either, it's 'I can retire and don't have to do anything anymore' money. It's not that hard.
The back of the napkin math visualization is hilarious
>people with mental gaps like this are not worth my _time_

Wrong. James has no time to begin with

200k a year in missouri is different than 200k in seattle
Right, we do address that in the video.
I can confirm that a $200,000 salary is still a great amount of money in Seattle.
Shout out to the Show Me Bois
Fellow Missouri dude here. 200k a year would be pretty comfy, but you're delusional thinking that's fuck you money.
My two bedroom apartment all utilities included in Iowa is $465 a month 😂
Dudes, I think I might have FU money lol. You two got me thinking. This isn’t me bragging or anything like that,so take this with a grain of salt. I got disability and a military pension that will last till I die. I just turned 40 and the only person I will ever have to listen to again is my wife and kids. Over 10k a month till 65, but, it did cost me my body and sever brain damage. I can say what I want, when I want and how I want as I always have and as you should always do. Cheers from Canada guys.
Canada has a Military?
More importantly, is that federal legalization for that green leaf and go for active duty personnel as well? Replace the negative effects of alcoholism with memory loss.
you have a stream of future income fu money.

@@Gator159The military doctors had me on a bag of pain killer’s till they near ended me. My military doctor prescribed me cannabis for pain and that’s all I take for meds anymore. Ten grams a day prescription is what the government pays for. Never did drugs until the doctors put me on them lol. Also yes, alcohol and cannabis are considered the same legally in the CF, on your own time have fun but, don’t bring it or use it at work, common sense stuff. I was medically released in 2017 so I’m not sure if weed has changed the CF for better or worse to be honest. It was all dick jokes and beer calls, sausage party for sure but, most of our ranks as either ncm’s or officers have secondary and university degrees. We never stopped training, that’s what kept us safe over there. I could talk about those day forever lol, cheers dude.
We do have a military! It might fall well short of our NATO commitments but it exists 😂
Surprised the John Goodman clip didn’t come up with this vid. Doesn’t he explain F U money in the Gambler to Mark Walhberg?
Oh wow, that would’ve been a good pull! Want a job as a slob?
"You want me to slob for you? FU"
I make what I thought was FU money as a kid. Now here in California I'm still in poverty
The question I have is: if you're successful enough on this platform to earn 200K a year, why on earth would you stop? If I made 100k a year from making UA-cam videos, I'd do it until I DIED.
That playlist that you have for Cinemassacre clips, would you consider organizing them in release date order? Or perhaps make a new playlist for people who start watching from the beginning?
I just finished the RCA Cinemassacre saga myself. And now I added you guys to my regular podcast even if the clips channel vids are considerably shorter than most podcasts lol.
You can get the full podcast when it drops (before it gets clipped) through the $2 Patreon tier! And good idea about the Cinemassacre saga!
@@RedCowArcade I know, the British lady at the end of these clips always tells me to subscribe on patreon for full episodes lol. I stick with the clips because "I don't have time"
Gives me more time to listen to audiobooks and whatnot. Driving for work is cool sometimes.
@Gator159 ah, good good. I thought you were saying they were too short.
Hi Gator!
@@RedDogRichard2112 Hey Dick.
The meanest comments i get say i sound like Bob Burgers. I havent dragged any other UA-camrs yet so i haven't made enemies of anyone's fanboys
What gets you so fired up about red cow?
At least they don’t say you sound like Jimmy McGill
I had a conversation once, it was awful. Too many mental gaps
The commenter sounds so autistic lol
You're not taking into account other money he made from the Gaming Historian brand, like his Facebook contract, or the ability to work an easy part time job which would eliminate the need to take from his influencer stash. And again, I live where Norm lives. It's F U money.
So do I and no it's not.
Love the napkin math! EJ nailed it; the difference is going to be how you invest that money. A lump sum of 200K once isn't going to do much. He'd be better off making his business turn-key and hands off (passive as possible) - and trying to keep as much of that 200K a year coming in - while he pivots and adds another income stream, etc. Love it, dudes!
Oh man, THAT comment has been living in my head rent-free ever since that video was posted!
"You watched on AVGN, now all you get is AVGN." This is my experience... until I subscribe to a channel. Then the recommendations for the subscribed channel comes to a halt.
EJ going full-on Plato on 7:47 cracked me up, brilliant
Imagine him in a Toga with sandals eating grapes next to a column ???
@@kurtshastany1945 I do that 24/7 already.
I do like when we just go off a side street and get lost on random topics on this channel 😂👍
I remember the quote that made Linda Evangelista the sexiest model of the 90's. Her version of F U money was "I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day" 😂
I so wish UA-cam would listen to my feedback about the ability to hide Shorts on my feed. I get sucked into watching the equivalent of “Ow my Balls” type videos too easily.
For the last year I've had tons of videos on my home screen or in my side bar with
The editing is getting better and better
If I received $200,000 today and stopped working, that would only last me 5 years at my current income to expenses ratio (I earn $43,000 a year). I agree with your remark that he likely can’t survive for multiple decades based on that annual income alone, but obviously he could have invested or created other passive income sources that we don’t know about. Not sure why people are giving you a hard time about this Frankie, the hard truth is you need hundreds of thousands of dollars just to make it from retirement age to death, and Norm has more than 2 decades until he is even conventional retirement age, and he likely will live 20-30 years after that as well.
F U money means you don't have to work again in your life if you don't want to and live comfortably. unless you are really old 200K is not enough.
2 videos a year nd hes quitting!... iv slaved full time for decade uploading about 3 a week, near every day now, not getting payed at all til now.. insane he says hes over worked with 2 videos a year
Awesome Vid!
Thank You very much for Your Work! Greetings from Germany
I like this responding directly to the biggest psycho in your comments section thing
Haha. Hey, we have fun here.
I stopped commenting on lots of things now. Making jokes on the internet or not being overly obsessed with a topic now means you can't speak on it to a lot of people. It's why I enjoy these clips -- you guys will chat about things in the moment.
Now if you could just do a bass cover for the Red Cow Arcade theme, we'd be in business.
@@RedCowArcade you never know!!
$200,000 is not FU money anymore. Our wages have been completely eroded by inflation in the last 3 years. In California or Massachusetts $200K is basically middle class now
If you're earning 200k a year and you can't retire in 10 years you're doing it wrong!
@@user-si7fj5rh5u there's a lot more that goes into it than that. Do you have kids? Do you have a mortgage? Are you single. You can't just make a blanket statement that you can retire in 10 years off $200,000
For once, the Mortal Kombat II cabinet actually has the game in it, LOL.
BOOOOOO
Sometimes - people with little income are in that situation due to their immaturity when it comes to managing their finances. They get absolutely pissed off at any implication that a large sum of money isn’t that much in the grand scheme of your life. I’ve worked with many people like this who I know make roughly what I do but somehow manage to blow it all every two weeks and lash out. Consumer mentality is really bad with younger millennials and zoomers in my experience.
that synchronised scratch at 2:02 haha
There's places on earth where 80 a month and you're rich lol
Dudes, I've lived off less than 10 grand a year for like 20 years....
Wouldn't he be paying $50k in taxes a year on $200k?
In Mass you can’t afford a house making 200k/year
Frankie and EJ keep underestimating how "artistic" the average yt commenter is.
Hmmm $120 dollars a month invested in an ETF like VOO will net you a million in 42 years, if only we started investing younger lol
Hey, i found you via the "Bimmy/slobs from cinnemasacre" content.
Just wanting to say i enjoy what your videos and find them entertaining, nobody can know everything about every subject, so i always enjoy when you go into the full perspectives of things here like this 😊
It would be interesting to hear you guys critique other channels of similar interest, such as The Act Man, Angry Joe, or Dead Meat’s channels. Just to hear your opinions on what you like or dislike about them. Your conversations are usually very good, I just wondered if that’s something you guy would be interested in doing
So now we know what f**k you money is, what’s f**k me money?
Love you guys!
EJ’s laugh gives me life lol
This stuff is really interesting, especially the last few minutes.
F you money is having so much that you can live off the interest
Maybe Its that people are fucking poor lol
200k is great to live a comfortable life and not have to worry too much about money issues. If you lose that 200k income you're going to be freaking out just as much as the guy making 50k probably lol
Shoot my relative in San Diego said you need to make at least 125k to support a family
Sonny Koufax lived off 200K for 2 years when that cab ran over his foot 😂
I'm with Frankie on this one. that's not even remotely fuck you money. I'm kinda concerned that people think it is...
you can buy a decent house with 200k, that is not crazy amount of money, people are just pissy
making 13k a year is crazy, no normal person could live on that.
by commentors i meant angry people leaving comments u_u
Assuming 0% returns is silly, also paying cash for a house instead of a mortgage. I was able to obtain "FU" levels in around 10 years and I didn't do anything radical and my salary is only very low 6 figures at the moment (was around $50k when I started my career in 2011). Now, granted, to get to that level quickly involves actually saving your money and not going on multiple vacations a year, ordering uber eats every day, daily starbucks, etc, which is why 90% of people never get there.
I think people mix up who they should be upset with:
Be upset that $200k a year is not enough to be considered FU money, not at the people who observe its not
Aside, I get it, as $200k salary would help me rn, but I can understand thats not necessarily the top 1%, it just stinks that earning below $100k feels like poverty (at least in the states)
Wait so you’re not worth his “time”? Almost like he has… no time. I’m connecting some dots here guys.
I’ve got F ME money!

My comment got removed? But could you disect the video collection of Mike Matei talked about helping avgn? Would love to hear your take on it!

I gotta say, after about two uears of watching this podcast, i watched a clip the other day, amd after it ended, i finslly realised that the emd bit is supposed to be lady decade? Im almost certain thats what its going for for. Still not 100%, but i def stupid about it like how the guy who commented about oregon trail wanted you to feel 😆
In the USA, "FU" money is typically meant to be a very substantial amount. I think of it as: I don't need to work AND have all my necessities met AND have lots of money to spend on meaningless crap. Soooo, in Norm's case this is NOT "FU" money. Insurance is minimum 25k per year if you have no job in the USA. I would say 6 million reaches the point of FU money. This would give you 300k in yearly returns (5%). After taxes, insurance, housing, food etc... you would have at least 75k to spend on whatever you want. Maybe Norm has an inheritance or came into money. Who knows, he is a smart dude. I'm sure he has this 100% figured out. I'm happy for him but hope he still makes videos for fun down the line.
Excellent analysis.
Please!!!!!!!!!! Start the cineamassare podcast! Or bankroll it thru me
Glad to see lots of certified economists and financial analysts in the comments
A few hundred thousand in a dividend fund that's been compounding at 5% tho...
Verzion is paying almost 7% and goes up every year, just saying.
For sure, smart things can be done.
Dividends are vastly overrated, especially by young people. Throw your money in a diversified etf like VTI and let that baby ride.

200k is barely middle class these days. He can probably make more outside of UA-cam. It’s tough to even save for retirement making so little via UA-cam.
LOL maybe in New York / San Fran. In most of the USA 200k makes you solidly lower upper class.
$200,000 annually is a fantastic salary in a huge percentage of states and counties across the country, but if you just stop earning any income at all, even if you saved well, that money isn’t enough to last decades unless you invested and are consistently earning more. $200,000 is definitely upper class in Pennsylvania, even in the cities with a high cost of living.
You're delusional
$200k/year with good savings/investments + having a big liberal judge wife I'd say is pretty good to stay comfy on for a long time
If youve never had to deal with Financials or don't nake alot of money ofcorse 200k sounds like alot.
Dude you guys just leave your games on all day, eat nothing but mac and cheese and you are fans of virtual bart!!!!!
The term "FU Money" comes from a 2012 Matt Damon movie called "Promised Land." In the same vein, the term "bucket list" didn't exist until the 2007 Jack Nicholson movie came out.
The human urge to spread random, unprompted misinformation
@@chalie091892 Who me? Everything I said was true.
This western modern life centered around economy is just like video games and game money / high scores / abilities / achievements / experience points, whatever it is in a particular game. Once you have it all, the limitations go away, and you just lose interest in the game. So why strike big in real life?.. i don't wanna lose interest in life.
Wow
I think you are reaching Bimmy levels of "out οf touch with reality" here.
Average person makes less than 50k per year.
You sound like you come from money and although I don't know your occupations, your style doesn't reflect the "I make 100k from work". You strike more like "I retired at my 30s after working 5 full years" type of guys.
I guess your money come from rich parents ?
What a ridiculous comment. I grew up lower middle class for sure. My mom was a public school nurse and my dad was a hydraulic mechanic. I did NOT come from money. Today, I’m an IT guy and my wife’s an NP. We both work very hard for a living. We live in a 900 square foot home.
It’s such a jackass move to just make up details about someone else whole cloth. You didn’t even try to refute the points that I carefully laid out in the video. You just said “he rich! He bad!” So ridiculously immature.
@RedCowArcade I used your wording after 2 videos to judge you. That's fair.
I purposely used "stronger" arguments in my comment to check my main suspicion.
No, I didn't think "you come from money" but I did believe that you:
1. Are contrarians
2. Love to always be right
People pretty much explained you that "making 4 times the money you would originally for years" is a lot of money but you wanted to prove them wrong by altering the "fuck you" money line, to basically "what fits my narrative to be right". What's "fuck you money" Frankie? Pewdiepie money? Trump money? Are you referring to a literal 0% of population? Because the average "high paid" youtuber makes 200k+ (aka at least 4-5 times the money that he would make from an office job)
Yes, if I make 50k yearly and somehow that changes to 200k for the next 10 years, so basically 2 millions, I am considered FU rich.
Your expenses will pretty much stay the same and unless you do a big purchase like a very expensive house, you will at worse end with at least 1 million in the bank.
Also the "200k" is literally lowballing them. Old youtube had "good money". I come from a country that youtube basically still pays shit and back then content creators were making 50k+ per year (excluding sponsorships that back then were wild since anyone could at any point ask for any amount)
@@MazingerDestro He already defined the term "F U money" early in the video. It is so much money that you don't have to worry about having a job or making money ever again. To get to that point you have to have multiple millions of dollars, usually in the form of stocks which perform well in the market and by which you can live off dividends. For example, trust fund babies who have inherited assets have FU money. On the other hand, a guy in his 30s working a job that earns him $250K/year is doing very well for himself, but he still needs to keep that job and "worry" about money for the foreseeable future. Ergo, he does not have FU money.
@renardfox328 So basically his definition is pointless. Since less than 0.1% of the population of the planet has access to that kind of money.
On yt....
It's Pewdiepie, Logan Paul.....these 2
Pointless spending 2 videos in a percentage that doesn't reach 1% at least.
@@MazingerDestro You are shifting goal posts here. We are not considering every human being on the planet, we are talking about people who live and function in the USA specifically and "the West" generally.
Way more people than you realize have FU levels of money. I do not. But I know people who have access to "FU" levels of money. My aunt married a man who was the son of parents who founded what is now a successful retail manufacturing chain in a few midwestern states. If you live outside the region, you have never heard of this company. My cousins get trust fund checks every month. I'm no longer close to them and don't know how much they receive per month. However they have always been rich and a few of them don't have jobs at all or had hobby jobs with unsubstantial salaries (they were around money and people who had money, could marry into money etc.)
One of my grandpa's old best friends was an accountant who grew up during the great depression. He lived his whole life in a small house, lived very modestly and invested wisely. He passed down his accounts with special restrictions so his children couldn't squander everything. His grandchildren now have access to FU money.
Bro that Indian guy usually knows his way around windows, idk what you’re on about.
200k/year is a lot but you can't live off that if you retire at like 35 or 40. Personally I do stock trading and crypto trading, and not youtube, so I keep losing all my life savings but then I can make it back pretty reliably.
*Just so we clear. At 58 seconds in. Dude didn’t deny possibly being out of touch with the common person cause he has way more money than everyone else lmao.*
