I had chronic fatigue and mental fogginess. Tested my vitamin D levels and it was 12 ng/ml. Since then I have been taking 7,000 IU of Vitamin D3 + Magnesium and Vitamin K2. It has made a lot of positive difference in my life
Sugar is a big contributor to that, I never eat any but last week I had one chocolate chip cookie and the next morning I could feel the fog and depression!
What a blessing this video is! I was taking 1000 mg of Vitamin D as recommended by the government and had been sleeping lousy for over a decade, up at 2AM, 3AM regularly. I doubled Vitamin D to 2000 mg/day as a response to Covid, for immune system support and began sleeping better, gradually over a week. With your info I began to understand what was happening and changed ingestion to post-breakfast and dinner. It’s been a week plus and I’ve never felt better at age 72!! I’m getting 7-7 1/2 hours sleep a night. -north of Boston, MA
Frank, that's a pretty cool information from you. I have been having similar problems with sleep for about a month now, waking up at night around the same time. I guess I will have to optimize my vitamin D intake then by taking 2000IUs. Do you take your vitamin D at night before heading to bed? And what brand do you use? As I type this message, I'm having some headache because I couldn't sleep last night.
@@nanapoku5259 Hi, did you have your blood serum D (25(OH)D) checked, so you know your level? Even if you don't because it is an expensive check and in my case I suffer from a fear of needles, it is most probably a good idea to take 4000IU D3 daily + 200mcg K2 mk4 OR 400mcg K2 all trans mk7 daily. 4000IU D3 is the maximum regarded safe level, unless if you are very deficient then you could or should take much more untill you reached the appropriate level. Always take it with the K2 because that makes shure calcium will deposit in your bones and teeth where it is needed and nowhere else, like arteries etc. Ideal 25(OH)D should be between 50 and 70 instead of 20 to 30 as recommended by the govt. I don't know which units for the 25(OH)D (which is the blood serum amount that they measure), they make it so complicated, they have at least 3 different units of measurement, it seems they want to make it so ambiguous on purpose, it frustrates me. Maybe you can find it out, but do take the K2! It is very important and safe. It keeps your bloodvessels and organs healthy and supple. If you do take the large amounts of K2 that I recommend, then don't take calciumtablets and don't take bloodthinners especially not coumarin based like warfarin, because both the calcium and the warfarin destroy your veins and arteries amongst others. Once you have enough D +K2 then your bones and teeth will get fully calcified with no calcification of the arteries. Any calcium supplement is too much and thereby dangerous. The problem is never a lack of calcium, it is always a lack of D and K2. If only the family doctors knew, because they do tend to make things worse. No doubt it is caused by the money hungry pharma industry, they want sick people to sell their "medicines" to. It is one of the biggest crimes of this day and age. Oh, and make shure you eat lots of different, both cooked and raw, preferably organic, vegetables and fruits every day and don't eat junk like burgers, fries or soda and snickers bars etc more often then once a week max. Wish you health and good luck!
@@DutchmanAmsterdam Awww thank you so very much for this detailed information. I'm very grateful. I will have serum D checked and/or take the 4000iu with K2 to see if my sleep will improve. Do you know of any Vitamin D & K2 brand you can recommend?
I am a native Floridian who lived in the sun growing up, so I have not been able to be in the sun for over 30 years. Since I have been taking Vitamin D3 supplements my life has changed. I no longer need something to help me stay asleep, I no longer have chronic pain, and my depression is much better.
Thank you so much for this condensed info. Covid actually saved my life. Right as covid started I knew I was possibly at risk because like many 40 year olds that just don’t pay attention I knew deep down that my health over the years was declining. I ended up getting a physical and blood work. And just as suspected I was 240 pounds high blood pressure high cholesterol and during the lockdown I stop drinking alcohol started upping my vitamin game and more importantly started cycling and working out on a daily basis for a minimum of 20 minutes. I’m a completely different person now and I’ve got healthy habits in my daily habit not just a fad or a diet but I physically know not to do things and actually avoid them. I really hope this channel opens the eyes of so many unhealthy people that it is possible. There’s nothing better than the feeling you get after a 20 mile bike ride and just an overall healthy life. ✌🏼
Keep up the good work. Boredom, injuries, and plateaus are the 3 reasons people stop exercising. There are tons of options so if you get tired of the same routine, try something else. Just do not quit. Proud of you. Keep at it!
@@Onnitfan1 I was professionally fitted for proper running shoes to mix it up and because I used to have issues with my knee. Yeah, those issues came back with a vengeance. All I know is that I love it. The challenge of the boulder work that over hangs and trying proper technique is addictive. And then 2-3 times a week strength training.
I have been recommending vitamin D for 20+ years to my patients. Checking a level is critical, rather than just taking 1000-2000 units daily, I shoot for a level between 50-70. It is a huge factor in immune health but also mood and energy. ‘Winter blues’ is often related to vitamin D. Thanks for a great show.
It really depends on the levels of each and a corrected calcium level for hypoalbuminemia. I would highly recommend looking for a functional medicine practitioner in your area, as there can be multiple causes.
@@ginah8023 I heard someone say that calcium is really stupid. It needs to be told where to go. That's what k2 does, directs calcium where it belongs. I take k2 when supplementing with d3 during the winter months, the cold and flu season. I haven't been seriously sick in years.
I suffered through a vitamin d deficiency while in college, and it was crippling. My testosterone dropped 300 points, and my blood serum levels were below 18 ng /dL …I ended up doing an 8 week regiment of 50,000iu’s daily, and got the number up to 36, then continued with my protocol and got it up to 89 a few months later. My sleep was just about non existent, I had major cognitive issues (while taking 14 hours of classes that semester), and I tell just about every person of color (I’m African American) how important it is for us. Every hormone in your body “feeds” off Vitamin D. I preach the gospel about it every time I can.
If you can't get your vitamin D levels higher, check your T3 hormone level. Mine was way too low and I developed vitamin D deficiency during the summer of 2020, even after getting a low of sun without sunscreen, consuming a lot of sardines and salmon every day for half a year and taking close to 5000 IU vitamin D a day with K2. I took T3 (liothyronine) because of severe hypothyroidism symptoms that were worsen by T4 and my vitamin D level improved dramatically by itself to the point that my vitamin D status was for the first time in my life and still is in the optimal range.
Hi, really insightful comment, thanks! Please can you answer if you are able. Short story, I have hypothyroidism symptoms, terrible Drs where I live in UK say it's in range but I also have hashi antibodies way above range. I have very low vitamin d often. It sounds like you also did lots like I did to raise it. How did you get your t3? Where about in the world are you because thyroid treatments range so greatly depending where you are. Im really glad your vitamin d has stabilised it's so vital!
Add carbs to your diet example white rice 2-4 cups a day. That should help your body ramp up t3t4 althought vitamins are necessary it is glucose abundance that activates these hormones and glands.
@@helenholdsworth6407 says the pituitary and hypothalamus glands in your brain that control thyroid stimulating hormone which is partly made of glucose molecules
@ Davina Thanks for your important note. I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, too. I was prescribed Synthroid, but I refused to take it. Now you've given me something else to think about - my vitamin D level. I have never thought about it because I live in a tropical country. But with my hypothyroidism perhaps I should check it. It might explain some of my health issues. Thanks again.
I've been taking vitamin d in a spray format and I've suffered years with insomnia and chronic fatigue but my goodness, since taking the spray I've gotten much better sleep, I wake up early and refreshed. It's like a new me! I came here for the science behind it 😀

Yup. I get as much sun as I can and about 50,000iu a day supplemented. Caught the first COVID strain and then the Delta. Not in the best shape and always not enough sleep. Surprised I shrugged it off both times.
It also helps with inflammation. Started taking CBD for 20 years of back pain and helped massively and then switched to curcumin because it was less expensive. When I added vitamin D it had an amazing effect and touch wood I haven't suffered from back pain for 3 years now.
What type of CBD did you use? I use BCM95 curcumin which isn't all that inexpensive either. I use it along with avoiding gluten to calm my inflammatory arthritis.
@@shuumai Really not sure I had any particular kind of CBD regularly and waa switching brands a lot and going for special offers. I wasn't just going for the cheaper kinds. I actually got informed about curcumin by someone who had arthritis for years. On reading into it I discovered that curcumin has a lot of the same flavanoids as cbd. It really has been a godsend for me because I was at a stage of considerable panic that I may end up out of work and no way of feeding my family or paying the mortgage. Has taken me on one hell of a journey into herbal medicine and even helped me and my family with the current virus situation. Myself and my family all had CV last week and got over it in a couple of days with alternative meds.
I was grain free for years but still had low back pain. It was caused by eating bananas!! I guess I am sensitive to them. No bananas, no back pain. I added them back in after many months of not eating any and the pain came back. So sometimes you need to cut a food out and then add it back in. You could be sensitive to any food.
I'm glad you mentioned mouth breathing and sleep disordered breathing (which can be UARS and therefore could be people who are thinner) and not only sleep apnea and common physical characteristics associated with it.
My Vit D was at 22, now it is at 37. I wake up in the middle of the night at least twice but sometimes 3 times. I am taking 5000 IUs a day to get it up. Thanks to your channel, I found Dr. Gominak. I would like to get it to 65 at least. When I was a zookeeper working outdoors, I didn't need supplementation.
Maria Rose, has your sleep improved so far after taking vitamins D. Have been having the same issue- waking up in the middle of night and not able to sleep again. It gives me headache and makes me exhausted.
@@nanapoku5259 I also take Melatonin for sleep and that helps more than the vitamin D so far. I still have to wake up to pee in the middle of the night. Sigh! I heard you have to take K2 along side vit- d so I ordered some. I will be going to an endocrinologist for my thyroid and will talk about vitamins then. I can go back to sleep unlike you. You may want to keep a journal of when it happens and what you are doing that day. There could be a pattern.
@@Icewing10 Thank you for your response. I will try melatonin to see if I will see any improvement, and also keep a journal like you said. What kind/brand of Vitamin D & K2 did you order?
Don't rely on the sun for getting your Vit. D. I live in Australia and was Dx with a Vit. D deficiency when working and exercising outdoors and tanned in the middle of summer. I've taken Vit. D 3 supps with Magnesium ever since and my levels are now at the top end of range.
I have autoimmune condition that means I need to avoid light, so my vitD was deficient and I was sleeping 19/20 hours a day. Since treatment with meds and vitD supplement my sleep adjusted to 12 hours day. When covid came along I looked at studies involving vitD and covid and decided to up vitD from 1k IU to 4k to 10k and my sleeping decreased from 12 hours to 9/11 hours, which for me was great because I feel like I'm sleeping my life away, also the quality of sleep increased so I was waking up refreshed for the first time in 20+ years

I was diagnosed with MS in January 2021. Since then I’ve been taking upwards of 20,000 IU daily to help combat the disease at the recommendation of my naturopathic doctor. I also live in northern Montana so we’ll see very limited sun for a few months. Since my diagnosis we’ve added vitamin D to our kids daily supplements as well, just not at nearly the level I’m taking.
I do hope your Naturopath also recommended an anti-inflammatory diet too as what you eat is all important regarding autoimmune diseases. Check out Dr. Wahl on UA-cam if you are not already aware of her work.
Please don't do that for longer than a couple of months... You will end up with toxicity.. way too high of a dose to do long term/ ongoing... An anti inflammatory diet is just as important
@@Suzitao The vitamin D is only part of my process to fight and maybe reverse some of the MS issues. I changed my diet right after diagnosis cutting out sugar, gluten, and dairy. I’ve added more fruits and vegetables as well. I’ve watched many of Dr.Wahls videos as well as Matt Embry with MS Hope. The biggest piece I’m still missing is regular excersize, however, my job keeps me somewhat active and I have many home projects on my 5 acres in MT so I’m not sedentary by any means. I have also done multiple blood tests to monitor my various levels. I’ve added T3 and progesterone daily and a twice a week injection of 30ml of testosterone. The combination of all that I’ve added this year has made a significant difference in my daily life. I also take Lions Mane mushroom extract, Alpho Lipoic Acid, and a number of other supplements. Costco sells 600 2,000iu gelcaps for about $7. so, my 6,000iu dose after dinner costs me about $12.77 a year + tax of course. Last week my D-25 tested at 70. Note I am a chubby 77-year-old.
Living in the Bay Area of California, sun exposure has been drastically reduced lately so I’ve definitely been getting less quality sleep (shorter duration) over the past 2 months, compared to the summer months when I’m out with the kids playing all day
Mike, not all of us can process it well via the sun no matter where we live. Three years ago after doing gene testing, I learned I have VDR mutations. Supplementation of D3 (250 mcg in olive oil gel cap) and it’s cofactors of K2 MK7 & (Mg glycinate at night) was the first pivotal change on my health journey. The next thing was was realizing I have IR and it’s impact on the trajectory of my health. Thankfully I have made diet and lifestyle changes with amazing results.
I just learned my Vit D is abysmally low even though I have been low key supplementing and intentionally getting sun in the summer for a few years. My doctor has significantly upped my supplementation. I really hope I start sleeping better.
You are a hero! They should make you an honorary doctor! I will have to watch this video several times because of the critical explanatory data and big picture, thank you!

I've absolutely suffered negative impacts on sleep from Vit. D supplementation, though no one has believed me. I don't have sleep issues, but when I was prescribed 5000 IU for immune support/possible SAD (lifelong Washingtonian), I had an awful time getting restful sleep (dreams), COULD NOT wake up/get up and then felt lousy. Finally figured it out after months. Had not been given instruction on how/when to take it, nothing on the bottle. I determined the dosage was too high and got rid of the 5000 and have been shopping around for different preparations with different dosages, and learning more about how and when to take it and what works best for me.
@@precious2250 Morning or when I remember if I feel it's not too late in the day; also don't usually take more than 2000 IU...not sure if it's doing any good...
I recently came across interesting information about vitamin D testing. There are two vitamin D tests. The one normally done tests the 'inactive' form. The 'active' form is never tested. I recently had both tests done. My inactive Vit D was low but the active form of vitamin D was in range. As someone who has a thyroid condition and understands 'inactive' thyroid versus 'active' thyroid hormone I find this vitamin D testing of both forms very very intriguing. Do you know anything about active D vs inactive?
Unfortunately some of us can't handle supplemental vitamin D. For me, it actually gives me insomnia (regardless of dose, timing, with or without fat or K2 etc). So my solution was a Sperti Vitamin D SunLamp, just 5 mins/day. Not cheap, but totally worth it - as I live in Canada and have tested very low in D previously. Not anymore though!
@@stephen3654 I hear ya. I guess because Sperti is the only company to have FDA approval for Vitamin D production, thus have the market to themselves. I even looked into making my own... could likely be done, but not easily due to it's unique construction.

Hi Mike. Great video!! 🙏 I read somewhere, that there are five(5) different D-vitamins: D1, D2, D3, D4, D5. They are all present in especially fatty fish and cod-liver oil on bottle (when it comes in capsules, the vitamins are normally NOT present at all - they are removed in the production-process). Supplements in tablets are to my knowledge always only D3. I would love to hear you dig into this. Are they all equally good? Should we keep the balance (like with vit-E tocopherols)?
Try to buy dried figs and keep it in olive oil and store it in a bottle for many days, make sure keep it out of light. Then take one fig and marinate it in sesame seeds and eat twice a day. All people in my country use figs to increase vitamin d. Omega3 or fish works good with vitamin d
I cannot tell you how Vit D, K & magnesium changed my life, I know it has some connection to sleep empirically since I fall asleep within 20-40 mins of taking those 3 supplements (10,000iu of D), for most of my life I only slept 4 hours even though I'm active in athletic pursuits since infancy, now I sleep5.5-6 hrs. I found that I do better if I take it at night, if in the day I only take it/them when active otherwise I will drift off to asleep.
interesting. every other video on vit d i've watched suggests that it should be taken early in the day because it actually blocks melatonin production. and since vit d is somewhat associated with exposure to sunlight it seems reasonable that vit d should be out of phase with your circadian rythms/sleep pattern and melatonin secretion, at least on a bro-science level it does.
When some people are extremely low on vitamin d, and then you start supplementing, it causes extreme sleepiness at first because your body wants to heal, and it only heals during deep sleep. Eventually your tiredness will dissipate and then you can take it during the daytime hours.
my husband recently had blood work. The doc called and said his vitamin D was way too high.It was 146. We take10,000IU's and 10 mcg of K2 for years. We live in NY.It's cold, not much sun. He also has no symptoms of toxicity. None of us are jabbed in my home. e just take D3, K2, zinc, NAC ,and magnesium. I also take tablespoon of cod liver oil. I your opinion, should he drop down to 5,000 IU's?
My dad and I tried taking vitamin d at night for a few nights recently and we both had practically sleepless nights. I wonder why. Maybe we should try afternoon, not evening 🤷🏽♀️
I believe that Dr. Stasha Gominak has indicated that testing for D3 by most lab common methods becomes significantly inaccurate above 40, and an ICPMS method version of the test is necessary to do above 40.
People need to realize that Vitamin D requires magnesium to convert to its active hormonal form, so taking large quantities of vitamin D3 will certainly require increased magnesium intake as well. Personally, I wouldn't go above 5,000iu a day for long term use if you're already healthy. Of course you can take a lot more if you're suffering from advanced health conditions like auto immune disorders, cancer, metabolic syndrome etcetera
@We the People the reason why K2 is recommended when taking Vitamin D is because calcium absorption goes way up when taking Vitamin D, and K2 helps to direct that calcium to the bones and teeth and keep it out of your soft tissues. Also, K2 is needed to activate osteocalcin which the body increases when stimulated by higher D3 levels
Great advice! I always try to get sun in the summertime! I notice people that don't like the sun are usually older, overweight busted up people. Probably why they are busted up?
I'm in my college right now and it's been 1.5 months now I've been suffering from : anxiety, sleeplessness, weakness, spasms, joint pain also In my case some "INTRUSIVE Thoughts" have started to really really bother me that i think about them all the time. My Vitamin D level was diagnosed to be 8ng/ml. I did not really feel any extreme pain in my body. But my Heart Palpitations are loud and fast and that worries me cuz it impacts my sleep at night. I just hope that this goes away and i feel back to normal cuz it's my college life and I don't want this to happen to me.
If I take vitamin d with K2 with it keep me up at night if I take it with dinner? Thanks! When I checked my level it was 57 but I wasn’t taking my supplement in a regular basis. I also take cod liver oil at night.
Great video thank you. my concern is what it's always been. Like you, I'm pro circadian rhythm fasting. So I always take my vitamin D at least 5 hours after I stop eating and I'm always concerned if I'm wasting my time because there's no fat to absorb it
Why not taking it after a meal? It takes around 48 hs for the colecalciferol to be metabolized into the final form so I doubt it makes a difference for the circadian rhythm what time of the day you take it.
@Le Diggles You could have a blood test to make sure you're taking the right amount. It took me three tests to arrive to my optimum dose, which is 4000 UI so that my level is at 50 mg/dl.
@Le Diggles also try Magnesium glycinate with the D3, K2 at night ⬆️ sleep …( D3-K2, magnesium and calcium work in a triad for optimal absorption(s) and directed distribution of calcium to the bones & teeth vs collecting in the blood stream) and Quercetin best taken 20 minutes before a meal or if you’ve a sensitive stomach, with food. :-)
Does this mean it's best to take in evening or morning? I thought morning, thinking it would disturb sleep, given we get it naturally from the sun. Post-watch edit, will try evenings & really liked the snippet of exit music, thanks for all & for you too.
I started taking vitamin D at the beginning of the covid pandemic, because I read that it strengthens your immune system. But I need to do better with my sleep. I stay up late, and then sleep in, so I'm still getting 8 or 9 hours, but on the days that I have to get up early for work I need to go to bed at midnight, or at least 12:30.
I have suffered from severe chronic insomnia for years! I take vitamin D and magnesium and B1 and other supplements. My cortisol levels are a bit high. So far I still have to take Ambien to get even 5 hours of sleep.
I absolutely love your channel, it’s so informative! Thank you for presenting all this knowledge in such a comprehensible way. I’ve been supplementing vit D3 together with K, A and E for almost 3 years. I live in Central Europe so in our climate we don’t get sufficient sun exposure, especially in the Autumn/Winter time. In the past my level of vit D was low (around 30) and I used to catch a cold and flu once-two times a year. Since I managed to increase it with regular supplementation (it’s around 100 now) I forgot what a flu or cold is - didn’t have any of these in almost 3 years (didn’t catch Covid either). I always take my vitamins in the morning, during breakfast (it’s called ADEK and it’s in a liquid form), but I’ll try and take it in the evening to see if (or how) it’ll affect my sleep. Once again thank you and greetings from Poland!

I had to fight my doctor to get my vitamin levels checked. Vitamin d level was 9. I'm a white woman living in phoenix so my doctor was really surprised it was so low. He im super active and fit and have been for about 15 yrs. I notice that when i take vitamin D, it works great at first but after several weeks it actually begins to give me insomnia. I know this is the case because i have no other variables. Ive even lowered the dose to 2000IU and it works great again then after consisntently staying at 2000IU i begin to get insomnia again. Ever heard of this? Thanks for all you do.
Vitamin D will deplete magnesium from the body which might be the reason especially if u don't eat magnesium rich foods daily, magnesium glycinate might help alot for sleep & relaxation.
This happens to me too. At first I thought it was timing (taking right before bed), so took in in the morning. Then lower dosages (5000IU, then 4, then 3, then 1000IU and finally 500IU per day)... still keeping me up. I found I literally could not take supplemental vitamin D/K2 (yet had low tested levels) and so switched to using a Sperti Vitamin D lamp. Expensive, but only 5 mins/day works like a charm. Levels great now and so is sleep.
So after interviewing people on Vitamin D, what is your current thoughts on how much we should take or have in our system? Do we need to take anything else with it beside magnesium and k2? As someone with schizophrenia I would like to get it up higher if I need to.
i have read that they work together, d3 K2. d3 can't be metabolized properly without the k2. also needs to be consumed with a fat source as vitamins A,D,E,K are fat soluble
Been using about 50k IU/ day since Feb 2, 2023. My sleep has been deeper but still wake up every 2 hours every nite. Lucky if I slept 3 hours before waking up. Definitely dreamed more often. Definitely wake up feeling refreshed!!
In your recommendation to dose D before bed did you look at the studies that show this disregulates the bodies circadian rhythm. Studies show supplementing in the morning is best for circadian reasons - it also improves sleep via optimising circadian timings. Obviously naturally we get out first vitamin D at sunrise, not at night. Studies show when supplementing following this morning vitamin D pattern improves significant biomarkers across the body. If you have a study that shows D in the evening improves these effects I would be extremely interested in reading them.

Thank you so much for this condensed info. Covid actually saved my life. Right as covid started I knew I was possibly at risk because like many 40 year olds that just don’t pay attention I knew deep down that my health over the years was declining.
I ended up getting a physical and blood work. And just as suspected I was 240 pounds high blood pressure high cholesterol and during the lockdown I stop drinking alcohol started upping my vitamin game and more importantly started cycling and working out on a daily basis for a minimum of 20 minutes.

I have been recommending vitamin D for 20+ years to my patients. Checking a level is critical, rather than just taking 1000-2000 units daily, I shoot for a level between 50-70. If you can't get your vitamin D levels higher, check your T3 hormone level. I took T3 (liothyronine) because of severe hypothyroidism symptoms that were worsen by T4 and my vitamin D level improved dramatically by itself to the point that my vitamin D status was for the first time in my life and still is in the optimal range.

I'm so grateful for all the detail/information you put in your videos. I know it's a lot of work, but you're saving lives!

I cannot tell you how Vit D, K & magnesium changed my life, I know it has some connection to sleep empirically since I fall asleep within 20-40 mins of taking those 3 supplements (10,000iu of D), for most of my life I only slept 4 hours even though I'm active in athletic pursuits since infancy, now I sleep5.5-6 hrs. interesting. every other video on vit d i've watched suggests that it should be taken early in the day because it actually blocks melatonin production. and since vit d is somewhat associated with exposure to sunlight it seems reasonable that vit d should be out of phase with your circadian rythms/sleep pattern and melatonin secretion, at least on a bro-science level it does.
This is exactly what I thought. Any more commentary on this?
When some people are extremely low on vitamin d, and then you start supplementing, it causes extreme sleepiness at first because your body wants to heal, and it only heals during deep sleep. Eventually your tiredness will dissipate and then you can take it during the daytime hours.

Great video thank you. my concern is what it's always been. Like you, I'm pro circadian rhythm fasting. So I always take my vitamin D at least 5 hours after I stop eating and I'm always concerned if I'm wasting my time because there's no fat to absorb it
Only one way to know: test your levels. Taking w/ out fat may not lead to optimal absorption, but you're still getting some.

I' started taking 5000iu back in 2004, the only side effect I noticed is I need much less sleep 4 or 5 hours a night without fatigue.
Hi what dose vitamin d was you on to get blood levels that hi ?
Thank you
Great work.
Great information very understandable.
From the UK were we seen to spend half the year in the dark. Also very interesting as to the impact of VD on covid.but of course we don't speek about that.
Thanks for your insights all very confirming.
I had to fight my doctor to get my vitamin levels checked. Vitamin d level was 9. I'm a white woman living in phoenix so my doctor was really surprised it was so low. Been taking 5000ui daily plus k2 and magnesium and my latest tests show my vitamin d level is 35...after 5 years of these vitamins and I only got it up to 35 so now I'm going to up to 7000ui and see if I can get it higher. Don't assume your vitamin levels are normal just because you live in a sunny area.
you may wish to try 10,000 IU in a liquid form like a spray. just keep in mind to also take vit k2 and magnesium with that. check out Eric Berg for more info
@@boromirofmiddleearth557 yes I take k2 and magnesium as well and I will thank you
i really love your stuff, BUT My Dad (95) with dementia has a D25 at 90-100 and yet he still has a lot of trouble sleeping he's up at least 3 or 4 times a nite and most not for urination. He's been this way for many years. what can we do
that's very difficult because he most likely has BPH problems benign prostate Hyperplasia. Are you able to give him any b50 and k2? melatonin and magnesium powder or liquid may help with the sleep as well. it may also be the pill form is not helpful. a liquid spray or dropper form may be better. Dementia is very difficult. All the best to you and your dad. God bless, merry Christmas and happy new year.
Thank you! Excellent info! Can I also the VitD3 and Myocalm to help with sleep? I take daily Lynparza for Cancer, just hoping it's ok to take all this in a day.
Thank you !
Vitamin D HELPS EVERYTHING. You name it, there is a study showing Vitamin D helps. If I could do one thing to help health today it would be vitamin D in sufficent amounts.
I’m curious what level you feel is ideal? I’m at 75 - tested a few weeks ago - living in PNW.
I think that’s probably good, so long as your serum calcium is not into the excessive range
Thank you for your time.
I slept 11 hours last night, I usually sleep 9. I had coincidentally taken vitamin D in the evening.
Keep after it and let us know how things go.
Have you ever seen studies that show some people don’t process vitamin D well? With side effects like irritability? What could be the connection. It’s a real problem for me. Would love to find a work around for this?
Out of curiosity, is this irritability from both vitamin D3 and D2?
@@Burnholm just from D3.
you may want to look at vit d creams, IV vit D, or vit d liquids if the pill form is difficult to swallow.
did u find the cause of it? i am also one of u
Nothing new to regular viewers of NutritionFacts videos, but thanks for covering the subject in a different style. My GP still considers is solely relevant for bone health...
I really cannot take synthetic vitamin D. Please help us learn how to synthesize vitamin D while living in Seattle. Thanks!
what about from fish or cod liver oil?
Great lecture.
As suggested, take with magnesium and K2. Take vitamin d with a source of fat first thing. Hopefully this helps.
Maybe your D level goes beyond the sweet spot. I heard Dr. Gominak mention that if your leves are too low or too high your slew will be impacted.
Salvation is of faith scriptures
So after interviewing people on Vitamin D, what is your current thoughts on how much we should take or have in our system? Do we need to take anything else with it beside magnesium and k2? As someone with schizophrenia I would like to get it up higher if I need to.
Thanks Mike.
Thank you so much man
What do you think of taking K2 with vitamin D?
i have read that they work together, d3 K2. d3 can't be metabolized properly without the k2. also needs to be consumed with a fat source as vitamins A,D,E,K are fat soluble
Mike how often should you test your levels? I get it done once a year but is that enough?
It can definitely worsen sleep. Been there.
I have sleep apnea. That started after taking pain meds. It rough.
Been using about 50k IU/ day since Feb 2, 2023. My sleep has been deeper but still wake up every 2 hours every nite. Lucky if I slept 3 hours before waking up. Definitely dreamed more often. Definitely wake up feeling refreshed!!
Also take magnesium, it's needed for the conversion of vitamin D into other forms.
Where is the link to the Home Blood Spot test?
In your recommendation to dose D before bed did you look at the studies that show this disregulates the bodies circadian rhythm.
Studies show supplementing in the morning is best for circadian reasons - it also improves sleep via optimising circadian timings.
Obviously naturally we get out first vitamin D at sunrise, not at night. Studies show when supplementing following this morning vitamin D pattern improves significant biomarkers across the body.
If you have a study that shows D in the evening improves these effects I would be extremely interested in reading them.
I'm on Massachusetts in the winter usually gets really cold.
So i don't go out much so i increase my vitamin D3.
Good idea!!
Vit D needs to be > 45. Your result of 120 + should not cause any symptoms. The Vit D guy is Dr. Holick. Very fascinating research he has to offer. Really ahead of his time.
