Worth watching just for the screwdriver on masking tape tip. I just love how this engine family only have the cam on the belt, the rest being gears, it take the pressure off of the belt leading to reliability even when neglected.
Nice one mate, I used to spray paint aircraft and ended up with blood poisoning from thinners and paint, I'd be using gloves and a charcoal respirator as a minimum, shame to damage those lungs with that stuff it's not good and does damage, great job on the build enjoying it!
@@WillsLandcruiser my LC 100 1hd-fte has 380.000 km on the clock. No tuning done, yet, but planning to upgrade turbo, intercooler and chip tuning. Looks like I'd better put new bearings for the motor before that......
Nice work old chap, pity you killed the first one with too much boost and fuel, I am guessing you are in the SE of SA, I am originally from YP or Yorke's as it is known now, and I drive a 1HZ 80 series and have done so for the the last quarter of a Century, love the old girl, never let me down :)
Yo! Love the vid. Next time grab a bit of cardboard and cut or draw shape of timing cover parts, and put the bolts in the cardboard in same pattern as you recoved from the covers. Worked wonders when I rebuild my 1hdt :)
He he where I come from people usually paint the engine red (usually called "Ferrari red"). Personally I like a more grey look like a battleship or something close to factory. (Very boring I know.) Great video
Yeah I missed it! The other two went ahead and had it out before I could whip out the camera! I backed off all 4 nuts and dad unscrewed the big brass nut until it was on its last few threads. We gave that one big whack with a hammer and it popped straight out
@@WillsLandcruiser Just bought myself a HDJ100 and was looking to see if there was some kind of an adapter as the FTE and FT has different mounting layout for the injection pump. But through the magic of google I found out that the oil pump plate is different and will need to be swapped over as well for a mechanical pump conversion.
@@Mr.Engineer. yep I’ve been there 😂 that’s a huge conversion. Oil pump plate, entirely new timing gears, different timing case front, and I’m pretty sure even the injector lines are different. It’d be so cool and people do it, but I decided it would cost more than it’s worth
The build quality of those engines makes them a pleasure to work on ..

I appreciate that advice, thank you! I’ll take that into account :)
Love your work Will, moving along nicely
Man.... I love this project!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Hi Will! You got your replacement engine cheap! Here in Finland those used engines run about 5-8 thousand Euros!😬 looking good, mate!😎
I definitely scored it cheap! It was missing a lot of parts but very happy with that buy

love the video mate! Can't wait to see the finished product! 🤩
Haha cheers Ethan! Got it running today so we’re in for a good little UA-cam series 😍
Ayyy! That’s killer!!! Nice work
Phosphoric acid is also handy when cleaning blocks, absolutely obliterates rust
Love the project mate

Yes I am down SE way! Great spot but windy 11 months of the year 😂 They’re great vehicles aren’t that?? I love my 1HZ 105. Just so reliable! :)

That’s actually genius!! You’ll be getting a mention next time I do a rebuild a use that 👏🏻😂👌
A mental note was made.
Very good tip.
engine block looking finnnee 🔥💯
Cheers mate 🙏😎
Mate Congrats on 6k!!!!
Cheers Ethan!! Your turn next 🤩
@@WillsLandcruiser ahah yeah hopefully
I’m looking at buying a 100 4.2, Considering your version with 650k, 300k is only half life.thanks

There you go! Interesting! Black is pretty popular here and you do see Ferrari red occasionally too. Thought I’d try something a bit different!
Hey Will, has that injection pump had a rebuild at some stage or is it untouched at 650k?
Untouched at 650k I believe
Cheers. They are the best rotary pump ever designed. They dont use a cam plate so they last longer than traditional rotary pumps.
@@deanburrows3504 definitely hasn’t skipped a beat so far!! A very capable pump indeed
Hey mate what do you use to film your videos ?
The tripod shots are all done on my canon 700D with a 24-70mm lens. The handhelds are done with my iPhone 12 👍
You never showed removal of the diesel pump :/

Do you know if the A442f has a separate ECU or will I need to convert to manual in the same instance as converting the engine to mechanical injection?

@@Mr.Engineer. and I’m not sure about your ECU question sorry! Maybe another one for Google or the Facebook community
Where abouts did you pick up an fte for $4K from?
One of the local wreckers in Adelaide. I’d say the vehicle had been in a small prang
Oven cleaner works good on blocks
I’ll definitely use that next time then! Thank you!
