I remember very well being glued to the transistor, listening to this all the way through as a teen and being dismayed at what got to #1. I eventually got over it.
How was "Le Freak" the top disco song of the decade when there were several other disco songs ranked higher? I assume Casey was referring to its performance on the disco chart as opposed to the pop chart?
I love “Le Freak” and the band Chic but the greatest song of the 1970’s? For the year released it was the greatest song. The greatest song of the decade in my humble opinion was “You’re So Vain” because it was a song that was great and introduced Carly Simon to the world, “American Pie” by Don McLean, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” the masterpiece by Simon and Garfunkel.
How are you or we defining "greatest"? In the case of "Le Freak", Atlantic pulled the single after it sold six million copies. They were afraid people weren't going to buy the album.
Where are greatest hits as Rhapsody Bohemia/ Queen, If You leave me now/Chicago, More than feeling/Boston, Mandy/Barry Manilow, Midnigth train of Georgia/Gladys Knight, Easy/Commodores, Hotel California/Eagles, Grease/ Frankie Vally, Dancing Queen/ABBA and YMCA/Village People? Its a crazy ranking.
You Light Up My life ❤❤❤the best song of the 70's❤❤❤❤❤
En Guatemala disfrutamos las transmisiones de Casey kazoom de los '70s en nuestra recordada y unica de su clase Radio Exclusiva 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Lived through all of them. The two I could not stand are YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE, and LOVE WILL KEEP US TOGETHER.
My least faves as well.
Miss hearing his awesome voice counting down America 's top 40
❤. Your family, friends and fans miss you very much, Casey.

Bee Gees! 😁🎼💯
Yes! ❤🎉❤🎉
This brings back so many great memories.
Listened to AT40 from 1977 to 1991 😃🎼🖖
Remember recording it illegally on a dual cassette/radio combo? Our kids would never understand!! 😂
Excellent! rip Casey, we miss you.
So many bad memories.
The ol days where did time go
Family Affair was the number one song when I was born.

Something like that
Or because Donna Summer and Gaynor were solo artists. Who knows?
Could be that back in the 70's there was really only one list.
Ponderous. Freaking ponderous.
Wow…
Seasons in the sun by Terry Jacks most definitely should have made this list along with Ride captain Ride by The Blues Image.
Glen Campbell 's Rhinestone Cowboy & Chicago 's If You Leave Me Now should have made the list too!
@@adrianchan1535 Why? These fifty songs were bigger hits.

America , Horse With No Name and Ventura Highway
Biggest 'disco' song of the 70s.

Saturday in the park
I grew up in the 70's and this list is ridiculous
It maybe ridiculous but it's FACTS!!!
This is the #1 countdown not greatest hits of the 70s
@@davidkastin4240 Some people seem to think that the Top 40 was a list that Casey Kasem made up himself every week.
Hmmm.. Brand New Key was either # 1 or # 2 for seven straight weeks, and it doesn't make the Top 50?
If I think of the 70’s , I think of the Knack and My Sharona. But I try not to think of the 70’s , really.
8track tapes sales
surprised no Abba in the Top 50. i miss casey's voice...
Debbie Bone first of 70s 😅😅😅
This is the 50 Biggest Songs List of the 70s , NOT the 50 Biggest Artists List of the 70s .
Lol. Who cares? Why are humans fixated on ranking EVERYTHING!? 😮
The original from the You Light up My Life was the better version. Debbie Boone ruined this song!
