  • Hey everybody! Today I'm talking about my gateway boot. When I first started wearing boots, I knew nothing about them at all but I learned through experience. That experience came mostly from these brown Boulet Boots.
Here's the video with the boot treatment I mention: "Wearing Cowboy Boots in the Rain" - • Wearing Cowboy Boots i...

Boots tell our story! Those of us who have chosen boots as our footwear of choice know what it means. They define us. My grandkids love to see my boots set by the fireplace, waiting for me to put them on to go outside. They are something my grandkids will always remember about me.

I never really thought about giving my boots a name. Although that does give me some ideas lol. I went to college to be a high school history teacher and my all time favorite era of American history is from the westward expansion and into the wild West. With that being said I would be inspired to name all my boots after all the same is wild West outlaws marshals and gunslingers. I would probably have no choice but to name my most favorite pair of boots after Billy the Kid. My 2nd favorite pair of boots I would call dock after dock holiday. I may even find some inspiration to name a pair with any name associated with Deadwood as I have been fascinated by that town when the gold rush of 1776 started and the TV show is awesome too so I might be thinking long and hard today about which boots to name after which gun slinger lol

I just bought my first pair of boots, in watching your videos l learned a lot about sizing and how to get the proper fit. Then I learned about caring for my boots. They are distressed so it takes a little bit more TLC. Thanks again for the videos, I learned a lot and my boots fit great because of what I learned from you.

I don't have Cowboy boots currently but I do have a pair of Corcoran jump boots, I've only had them 3 months (they're not my first boots but they are my first leather boots that I've taken care of) but they have held up nice and have started to age. I don't ever keep them unkempt, I clean & shine them every week to make sure they last a few decades at the least. If i was to name my Corcoran's I would probably given them a name based on their history of being Paratrooper boots. possibly Private Ryan or some other nerdy shit like that. I'm pretty boring though because i just call them my Corcoran's lol.

Dingo and Frye brands are popular cowboy boots with wooden stacked up high heels from 1981 to 1986, and many young men do wear them. They came in two colors and they are banana (tan), and russet (reddish brown), it featured moderate pointed toe. Today they are vintage cowboy boots and they are hard to find. Collectors are saving these cowboy boots regardless what condition they are in, even if there are in fair condition, with a lot of wear.

Reminds me of my first - and so far only - boots I’ve had. I was in my 20’s and they were a pair of Tony Lamas that were given to me in very good condition by someone I did not even know very well but he must have figured they would fit me and they did! Don’t remember why he was giving them away but I’m glad he did.
I live in Minnesota and wore them in all seasons. They also served as motorcycle boots. Definitely multi-purpose footwear. I didn’t do a lot to take care of them and eventually the uppers got a bit cracked and the leather was breaking down.
Now I’m almost 60 and it’s time for a new pair of shoes. But this time it will be boots. Been thinking back to that old pair and the style, the comfort, the just plain fun of wearing them.
If I was going to name that old pair it would be True Blues. Because they were a mottled color combination of light blue and cream from top of the shaft to the tip of the toe. And I happen to like to play the Blues.

My Finnish jackboots came with a sag in the shafts that isn't very severe but they were well used before I got them but when you wear them it isn't evident. However, when you wear them with trousers inside the shaft as they were designed you do not see it at all. My Finnish wool trousers actually came with stirrups to keep them down in your boots. On one pair I removed them (only attached with buttons) and they go over the tops just fine.

I learned buy your boots nice and tight, measure your feet to find out your size on a size chart and go 1/2 size smaller. I also hate loose fiting boots though, i hear some people like them loose but i like mine tight and this way they form to your feet like a custom made pair. I found this out by buying a pair too small but they ended up being the best fit ever.

Years ago I had a great pair of light brown boots - more or less lived in them. I was wearing those boots while I was helping a friend rebuild his car’s engine, and we’d nearly finished the job. The oil had been drained, and we were filling up with fresh oil - hey, this engine is taking a lot of oil... it was running out the sump all over my left boot... someone hadn’t put the drain plug back in... those boots never looked like a pair again. 😕

No they were too small every time you have a pair of boots resoled you loose a little in size and my feet did grow partly due to a car wreck that resulted in 5 pins in my right foot which is now larger than my left foot. I gave them to my little brother and they sit in my parents garage for a while and they got put in the trash ( we are talking 20 years ago) I wish I could afford another pair of elephant but they are hard to find and too expensive in very limited sizes.

For christmas I got a pair of Ariat rambler renegade boots, and they're made in china unfortunately. I have to wear sock logs just to get them to fit right, and have to put a toe insert because of the stretch and all that. But that does not make them a bad pair of cowboy boots. I don't think people start to realize how durable these things can be in different situations in life. Those things are just cool looking for one, because its got a phoneix on the top, and they're black boots! You cannot go wrong with black boots!
These things have gotten broken in since then! These are a lot more forgiving then I thought they'd be. Whether when it was in my first car accident in the rain, or the time I to use a ghetto method of shrinking by soaking them in hot water and instead ended wearing out my leather, and took a little bit of the dye out (which actually doesn't look that bad to be honest with you)
Or from times I went for a run and gave the rubber around it white from that drag across the road, they're just like ok! You can't hurt these boots feelings ya know? Haha
Its like, "nah fam, you're good! I'm still here for ya partner! I enjoy our walks together!" These boots have been there for me! And I just can't say enough of how amazing they are!

Good morning J & B, I am totally obsessed with finding my first pair of Lucchese boots. But there’s so much information out there I am getting confused. Did Lucchesi come out with different levels of boots? For example, silver, gold, etc…? It looks like Lucchesi sells their boots at Walmart?! Is this for real? I’ve also noticed that some boots have the lemon with pegs and some don’t (womens boots). Can you give me some tips on what I should be looking for. I appreciate your help.

    • @JeremiahCraig
      @JeremiahCraig  2 роки тому

Lucchese does have different levels. Lucchese 2000 was their budget boots option that they discontinued. 1883s were next level up but I think that line has been replaced with the Bootmaker line which many models are made in Mexico. Their Classic line is the next level above that made in the US. Looks like Walmart sells some Bootmaker line boots. The lemonwood pegs aren't completely necessary when there's a full welt and the bootmaker line is still pretty awesome. I have videos on all of these below
      Lucchese 2000: ua-cam.com/video/j_UOYBKLRFU/v-deo.html
      Lucchese 1883: ua-cam.com/video/8P4O399C_G4/v-deo.html
      Lucchese Bootmaker: ua-cam.com/video/Izkl2KppnaY/v-deo.html
      Lucchese Classic: ua-cam.com/video/AGX-js1n9Nc/v-deo.html
At some point I'll try to make a video comparing all of them but I don't think I'll be able to anytime soon.

I've had a pair of Justin cowboy boots and they were rubber heal and I have weared them for 4 years through highschool theen after I decided to get a job at Texas Roadhouse as a busboy and while being new to the job Ive always seen people always wearing rubber heal cowboy boots to work mostly servers and managers cuz they would get dirty easily. So out of the audacity I had to use mine cuz I thought I would look good wearing my boots at work to give a representable look for my job but jokes on cuz my dumbass would be mucking basically putting dishes away at the muck station where dishwashers would wash dishes and sometimes my boots would get soapy water on them cuz the dishwashers would basically throw soapy on the floor towards me so that way could clean the floors but they would warn me of course but I didn't mind only because I didn't wanna get backed up on buckets full of dishes. Then after a year the soles peeled off and I was majorly sad that I ruined them.Until a year later my mom bought me some all black leather , leather outsoled Cody James boots and they were the best gift my mom could ever give me and if I could get name my old boots something I would name them my Justin boots no to showy not to cliche just good enough to wear on any occasion

Bottom line make sure your foot stays in that damn boot because slipping heels is not fun when injury comes.

My first pair of boots were Justin boots I got in 1981. I wore them every single day and they were fantastic boots. One morning I went to put them on and found my pit bull puppy had chewed the toe off of one of them. I was devastated. If he hadn’t Estonian them I might still have them today.

That's the worst! What a bummer. You'd definitely still have them today had that not happened

Hi, here in Brazil, boots are objects with female genus, so to give men names to them seams wierd to me. I really love my cowboy boots they are very hot, so, i decided to look for female names that matchs with this feelings and also due to the fact that I trate both boots like girlfriends, they must have female names indee.
So, I decided to call the left as Cindy and the right as Jessy.
Boots were not made just for walking

Jeremiah Craig I just use mink oil. But yeah, I definitely recommend it. I mean, it’s leather, of course it’s going to dry out. I think it’ll make them last at least a little longer. Just gotta’ make sure you give them a good brushing first, & be careful walking for a little while afterwards!

    • @JeremiahCraig
      @JeremiahCraig  5 років тому +1

But conditioning would also make it softer and potentially wear down faster. That's my only concern with it so I've never tried. Also I'd rather not slip around until it dries haha. I might try it someday though when I have a good opportunity to

    • @crowvelle

Jeremiah Craig I have an idea. Not really scientific, but I’ll continue to condition my newest ones, & whenever it’s time to get them resoled, We can compare the condition of yours, & see how which ones hold up longer. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Edit: Maybe a good video idea in the future.
