I just think a good drummer who really cares about music composing, and not only making noise, would love to interact with it's bass... there are plenty of sounds a drummer can get without interfere with this bass.

I currently exercise by putting on old Spike Jones records in one room, and Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage, or maybe Maurice Ravel ? selections , pick up my Hmmmmm .. .. 6 string bass ( tuned G to G ) and making Merange' ~ Bossa Nova ~ Calypso riffs and fit in the cracks without playing too many notes or consciously trying to make it fit ( if you play less, some music might fall out !) YOU try it! 2 different time signatures, and key changes simultaneously, and the only guideline is that you cannot stop till the 2 songs stop.. Dig? Its certainly makes your Left brain not Right, and your Right brain feeling like you Left it somewhere like at your "5th Dementia" Jam band or... what was it? All this and more all from your home studio or sofa in your sock feet !! And in closing, I'd like to interact with a few posts on this site . Hey Tripuththedick Nolove, if you are smoking crack or promoting its use by posting it in public media , you are probably Dain Bread ! This is just unbelievable. I`ve never heard anyone play even half as good as you, your technique is supreme und your playing is very creative. You might be the best musician on UA-cam, if not the planet. GIANT thumbs up!

Draganko123 Yeah well, in terms of skill, Cliff is arguably one of the best all-time bassists, but I have a big problem with him -- that exact thing in which he basically plays guitar in a 4-string platform. Personally I like other bassists like Rex Brown, Geddy Lee or even Trujillo himself for their amazing ability to insert the bass' characteristic groove style in their music, which is definitely not easy.
Holy cr@p ... your playing is incredible! Sound and video production are excellent and very creative. Lots of prestigious bass players out there would aspire to play this well (including me).

Why would you dislike this if you are a guitar player? He is a freaking great musican. Me personally I am fascinated by every virtous musician whatever Instrument he's playing :D
He doesn't "slap" the strings. So the string doesn't hit the fret board. He sort of picks them with his thumb. It's hard to explain but you can look up double thumb technique. Marcus Miller uses it a lot I think.
I was ad because I mostl yhold on to the pentatonic minor scale when improvising, but I see you do as well. That really motivates me to just experiment a bit further and in the end limits make us creative.

Okay, first off... I hate you. (just kiddin) That was an amazing technique. I've been playing for 25 years and in all the lame cover bands I've been in, there was never a need to learn this style, so really this is new to me and I can hear my axe at home screaming to me, that it needs a spanking. I have always shied away from the slap style because there was never a need for it, but you just inspired me. Thanx Dave!
