Why would a charging dock for business phones need security though? Just put the dock in an area only employees can get to. Some hospitals have phones they give employees at the start of their shift. The charging stations aren't out in the open and they require a special sign on to even use. This product overcomplicates simple solutions
A public charging station with some security is not a bad idea. In fact, it has been thought of a billion time in a billion different ways. The execution here is very ill thought out.

I saw something like this at a meeting in Berlin in 2023. People were using it and it looked great. Little cubby holes with phones charging. It might have used credit cards for security. I'm not sure.
These have been a thing that already exist for ages! There's one at the Canberra train station here in Australia that uses a code - it works amazingly because there are seats right there and the station is small
@Francois Berkin Jr This is Season Six. Rolodoc was Season Five. (interestingly though, they were both in the first episodes of their respective seasons.)
It’s actually not that bad of an idea. Something similar to this has already created a huge market in China. There are a few key difference both in product and business model, but these guys were right in identifying a need in the market. They should have given this a bit more thought and polished up the rough edges before going into the shark tank.
Amber would have been really good if it came out 10 years ago, but now airports, bars, and events have their own charging stations that are completely free, plus with almost everyone just carrying chargers; especially in airports.
I like such "dumb" pitches, and I really like the lady's response. Like when they don't make fun of the product / business idea, and break it down "logically", you can really learn something from it.
i love the little sound effects they do when they show the numbers and everything. it's like that's the blood in the water and the sharks are now gathering. this show is really fun in that way. their soundtrack is great.
Don’t know when this was filmed, but I’ve seem far better version in shopping mall 10 years ago (using card swipe instead of fingerprint).. there is a reason they are pre-revenue.. so many logistical issues and they will realize when they try to sell them
You could tell from almost the very beginning that the short guy was either about to cry or blow the F up . I see that Amber went out of business, but I think the first thing is to get rid of that partner. Also, even if this was a good idea. They should have had a completed prototype doors and all.
Funny because my university has actually used something similar to these for many semesters now. Except there it’s more of a little locker with every kind of charger inside, and it used a numpad lock, not a fingerprint.
$25 for a spare battery pack that will last days. A little early for Shark Tank with pre-revenue, focused on finishing college, and still sourcing locks
While that was pretty bad, the worst pitch is still the guy who wanted to implant bluetooth devices into people's ears and skulls from the very first episode.
The Shark Tank’s frenzy of criticism of Amber’s concept left the firm with no choice but to cease operations once the show had ended. The show’s impact on the business and Kyle’s feelings about it were chronicled in an extensive blog after leaving the company a few months after airing. He delivered a lengthy and in-depth critique of the show’s editing procedures. Amber was omitted from the final broadcast because the sharks did not mention Amber’s complimentary comments, nor did his and Bill’s passionate defense of Amber respond to the arguments against it. He also questioned Robert Durjavec’s knowledge of biometric scanner technology, asserting that Amber was thoroughly tested before filming and fully functional.
This is like going to a grocery store and asking the owner to buy your ingredients and cook some free samples while trying to get money out of them to boot.
Hahaha! My Wonderful says"I hate this idea so much, its one of the worst ideas I've ever seen" with a smile, like he needed someone that day to just punish for doing something dumb.
In canada, there are things like this everywhere. But instead of fingerprint its a code. I rarely see them used, but in busy places there are always a few slots being used to charge stuff.
It's a good idea but he's right about the finger print scanner. It's a bit shotty. My old job had one to log in and if your finger was pruny from water it wouldn't work.

I think it's a good idea for businesses that have business phones for employees, it's pretty much just a charging dock with security.
Not at all
Not with fingerprint. You could do the exact same thing with a pin pad
Ignore the nay-sayers. This idea is based.
Why would a charging dock for business phones need security though? Just put the dock in an area only employees can get to. Some hospitals have phones they give employees at the start of their shift. The charging stations aren't out in the open and they require a special sign on to even use.
This product overcomplicates simple solutions
Or just buy a couple iPhone chargers
A public charging station with some security is not a bad idea. In fact, it has been thought of a billion time in a billion different ways. The execution here is very ill thought out.
Lori: I’m developing things lightyears ahead of this
Mark: That is such a bad business
Kevin: It’s one of the worst ideas I’ve ever seen
Amber Developer: Okay
Robert: Here’s some legitimate criticism so I’m out
Amber Developer: I want to rail you in the teeth 😤 🤜
Exactly i was like wth
So this is way before power banks came into the picture!
I saw something like this at a meeting in Berlin in 2023. People were using it and it looked great. Little cubby holes with phones charging. It might have used credit cards for security. I'm not sure.
"We're actually currently sourcing our locks through masterlock"
Ah, so I can open it by just angrily staring at it. Got it.
I don't know the details and measurements, but I think anyone could just walk up, pick up the device, and leave. Very susceptible for stealing! 😳
It’s bolted to the wall
@@AllisonLinner but you wrote, "ANYONE could walk up...pick up...and leave."
Let's see "anyone" try that with something that's bolted properly. 😂
@@AllisonLinner Girl don't argue with the FBI, they have a lot of researchers
@@AllisonLinner who tf is gonna be able to walk in and un-bolt that in the middle of a public venue?
@@elianderson3450they’re talking abt the phones
These have been a thing that already exist for ages! There's one at the Canberra train station here in Australia that uses a code - it works amazingly because there are seats right there and the station is small
"We have a lot of competitors"
*lori just sitting there smiling (she's ur competitor lol)*
Power banks are super cheap, and even cheaper to the point of free is a power brick and cable. It really is tough to compete with free.
worst pitch would be Rolodoc😂😂😂
@Francois Berkin Jr This is Season Six. Rolodoc was Season Five. (interestingly though, they were both in the first episodes of their respective seasons.)
😂😂😂😂
Nah worst pitch gotta be the bluetooth ear piece
“The worst they can say is no”
This is clearly these guys senior design project and I just love their hubris through it all.
It’s actually not that bad of an idea. Something similar to this has already created a huge market in China. There are a few key difference both in product and business model, but these guys were right in identifying a need in the market. They should have given this a bit more thought and polished up the rough edges before going into the shark tank.
I agree with this, Amber could've had potential but it's design was too simple.
Amber would have been really good if it came out 10 years ago, but now airports, bars, and events have their own charging stations that are completely free, plus with almost everyone just carrying chargers; especially in airports.
@@AidenL-de4hp To be fair, this pitch is from 2014
At 5:48 - Ooo real tough guy.
You can clearly tell this is the first time either of them heard any negative criticism of their work.
It wasn't that bad lol
I like such "dumb" pitches, and I really like the lady's response. Like when they don't make fun of the product / business idea, and break it down "logically", you can really learn something from it.
The focusing the camera on the small guy after Kevin utters at 3:24 is hilarious hahaha
Wow his comments at the end. What a pair.
What did he say? I couldn't understand him
@@D1SNEYM0V1ES I think he said he wanted to ‘nail Herjovac in his teeth’. But, not 100% sure.
I would rail Herjovivc* in the teeth. Kinda kinky really 😅
He basically said he wanted to punch him.
i love the little sound effects they do when they show the numbers and everything. it's like that's the blood in the water and the sharks are now gathering. this show is really fun in that way. their soundtrack is great.
Don’t know when this was filmed, but I’ve seem far better version in shopping mall 10 years ago (using card swipe instead of fingerprint).. there is a reason they are pre-revenue.. so many logistical issues and they will realize when they try to sell them
not only is this the shortest pitch, but the shortest guy in shark tank history to accompany him too!
Dang they got torched
This is a classic example of “A solution looking for a problem”.
“We want to put Amber in bars…”
😂 that doesn’t sound good mate.
Guy: "We are currently sourcing with MasterLock"
Lockpicking Lawyer: 🤔
You could tell from almost the very beginning that the short guy was either about to cry or blow the F up . I see that Amber went out of business, but I think the first thing is to get rid of that partner.
Also, even if this was a good idea. They should have had a completed prototype doors and all.
5:43 I think the short guy was on something
He definitely has the napoleon complex 🤣
I take it this is ancient. Phones have had fingerprint sensors for like 5+ years now
See what not a lot of people dont know is that on their way back home they were pulled over by barbera and she just wanted to let them know she is out
if Kevin doesn't have an interest, you know theres a problem.
Funny because my university has actually used something similar to these for many semesters now. Except there it’s more of a little locker with every kind of charger inside, and it used a numpad lock, not a fingerprint.
Robert was far from being the most insulting lol
I think they were hoping for a deal from him from that start because of the internet security background, so his rejection hurt the most.
$25 for a spare battery pack that will last days. A little early for Shark Tank with pre-revenue, focused on finishing college, and still sourcing locks
"I have to hire you both so i can fire you"
Bro did not have to do them like that 😂
"We're sourcing the locks from Master Locks." Yikes. If I was a shark, for that reason alone I would've been out.
7 ports only for $2k at an arena with thousands of people who may need it.
I love Kevin “I have to hire you both so I can fire you “ 😂😂😂 😂
Why did he want to fight Robert out of all the sharks up there?? 😂
Yeah, dude... You think it would be Kevin the guy wanted to throttle. Robert didn't even say anything mean.
Because Robert dismantled their product step by step. Kevin’s ruthlessness is well known to people and sometime borders on comedy.
While that was pretty bad, the worst pitch is still the guy who wanted to implant bluetooth devices into people's ears and skulls from the very first episode.
Hilarious! It’s always college kids who over-estimate their value haha 😂😂😂
True. But at least they tried. So many people talk about ideas, but rarely anyone actually make them real.
Actually this is pretty common in europe but instead of finger print scanner there is pin code like on locks
Sourcing locks through Masterlock definitely means that it won’t work 💀
That short guy is a walking red flag 🚩
You can instantly tell 🤣🤣
Could you link the blog?
@@Greatcountry37 don’t remember. Just copy and pasted whatever google search I found
It wouldn't matter anyways. Their company would of failed one way or another. Once again like I told other you can't beat free.
@@hhds113 there was no "free" at the time.
This is like going to a grocery store and asking the owner to buy your ingredients and cook some free samples while trying to get money out of them to boot.
Little frat bro is so angry lol
Hahaha! My Wonderful says"I hate this idea so much, its one of the worst ideas I've ever seen" with a smile, like he needed someone that day to just punish for doing something dumb.
I bet whoever walked in after them at Shark Tank tripped over their broken Dreams.... 🙄
😂😂😂
In canada, there are things like this everywhere. But instead of fingerprint its a code. I rarely see them used, but in busy places there are always a few slots being used to charge stuff.
It's a good idea but he's right about the finger print scanner. It's a bit shotty. My old job had one to log in and if your finger was pruny from water it wouldn't work.
