    This little power station is perfect for a portable freezer that pulls around 48watts. Wife and I have to go 30 minutes to the grocery store. Current plans are to pop the portable freezer in the back, hook up the vehicle power to it, and drive to the store. Sometimes we are in the store for two hours stocking up for a month. However, when the vehicle is off, the freezer warms up. Hooking this up to the portable, we could run the freezer for about 10 hours without that freezer warming up on a 110 degree day. Thanks for the video.

    Per CDC - If the doors stay closed, food will stay safe for up to 4 hours in a refrigerator.
    So power the fridge once every 4 hours. Let it go through one cooling cycle, then unplug.

    Thanks. That was a good deal. With the coupon code from the manufacturer, that means that the solar panel only added just $106 over the price of the power station itself. Not too bad. Plus, I don't think that they charged me any sales tax.

    Great job on the product review, double check your information on the life cycles of the two types of batteries. I believe they both recharge to 100% not 80%. After lon recharges 500 times then it drops to 80% and after the lifepo4 recharges 2000 times then it drops to 80%. Keep up the great work.

      Thanks Rick! We're actually in agreement on that point, I probably just didn't convey it clearly. :P But basically as I understand it, the performance claims these companies are making is that after (x) full discharge/charge cycles, their products will retain AT LEAST 80% original capacity and in this regard, both chemistry types provide long functional life, but LiFePo4 has a clear and significant advantage in that area. I'd read a few articles explaining the differences between the 2 types and they claimed up to 10x longer capacity retention vs Li-Ion - but other sources do cite different numbers for that...(like 5x more). That's why I characterized it as "5x-10x" in the video, since it kind of depends on where you're getting your info. :)

    A couple of clarifications: USB ports are 2x - Type A (the 'normal' connectors). And the warranty is, as I said, 2 years on the Power Station, but ONE year on the solar panel, just to be clear.

    I think you may find that the DC output on this particular unit is NOT as efficient as the AC side. That is unusual, but I've seen other reviews of this unit where that proved to be the case, at least at the draw rates that they used in their tests. It may have to do with the power needs of the 12 VDC regulation circuitry. I'm glad that you demonstrated the additional 60 watts that can be pumped in via the type C jack. I think other reviewers have assumed that was strictly a one way "Output" port.

    Hey I came across your video today. Great review and info. I'm curious if you know the answer to this question. I'm a DJ and I'm looking to put together a wireless ceremony system. I have a pair of EV Evolve 50 speakers. Power consumption is 1.5 amps 100-240 V AC. Would these 600W units be overkill to run these two speakers for an hour? Would it not be enough to run these speakers for an hour?

    Sup Man! I noticed the same thing with the fan. I also don't like that the fan runs periodically when the AC is on.
    I'm really starting to value quiet fans under low loads.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      yeah for sure. At least the Oupes fan is variable speed and tends to be fairly quiet under most conditions - especially when compared with the Rockpals fan which is significantly louder and kicks on with any draw over 100w.

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому +4

      The main DC input is limited to 100W, so 1 panel will take approx 7.5 hours to charge from 20% back to 100%. IF you had a 2nd panel capable of PD60 Watt output (like the FlexSolar 120 ua-cam.com/video/yqZULEuq9o0/v-deo.html ) you could reduce that charge time to about 4 hours.

Goal summer storm survive heat and winter survive cold and not have work interrupted. Looked at gas compression generator and is 1 big unitl and complicated to install for disparate appliances so favored power stations. Thanks for reading lengthy post!

    So what would you prefer the jackery 1000 or opues 1100

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      I think it depends a bit on what you prioritize. They both have basically the same capacity, but the Oupes has LiFePo4 chemistry which will hold its capacity for MANY more cycles before degrading vs the Jackery. And the Oupes also has PD60 type-c input for dual-channel fast charging - where the Jackery 1000 does not have this. Also, the Oupes is nearly $300 cheaper than the Jackery. So based solely on those points, the Oupes is the clear winner. However, Jackery has been around longer and is more established and based in California...so customer service is probably going to be more dependable if you ever to happen to need it. So is that worth a $300 premium to you? That'll have to be your decision. :) It's kind of a toss-up for me...maybe with a slight lean towards the Oupes.

    I'll be honest, you lost me on a lot of the terminology.

    Thanks!

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      So it's going to depend on the power draw of your CPAP machine, and whether it's AC or DC. A 40W CPAP machine should consume about 40Wh per hour. And if it's AC (like the normal house electric plug), you'd take 600WH * .85 / 45w = 12.75 hours. So a bit over 12 hours of continuous runtime on a 600Wh capacity unit like the Oupes. If you could get by on half the runtime (or if you have a CPAP machine with a lower draw), you could probably realistically consider a 300W unit (Rockpals is pretty economical in this range ua-cam.com/video/yo0Db6AvWDI/v-deo.html). But I would always recommend getting a bit MORE capacity than you THINK you'll need, because...life... :P

      I get 3 days on a deep cycle 12v battery. Does that help?

    • @ReeWrayOutdoors
      @ReeWrayOutdoors  2 роки тому

      @@suekelly6192 yeah, that makes sense since a typical 12v Deep-Cycle battery is about 1200Wh - so 2x the capacity of the Oupes 600. Of course, if you don't need the portability of these kinds of power stations, your 12v deep-cycle is going to be a cheaper option. But as I understand it, regularly running a deep cycle lead-acid battery past 50% capacity will dramatically shorten it's life span. That's a big reason people are willing to spend more for Li-Ion or LiFePo4 chemistry over Lead Acid.
