Is a simple DC-DC Converter that uses a lot of very brand specific cables for $600 and you get 800W, well for about $300 you can get a 2000W Renogy or 1200W Victron Pure Sinewave Inverters (in case you want known brand quality) or for around $150 many other off brand highly rated 1500-2000 Inverters...and while they will take a bit more space, they can be used for anything and in a pinch can charge multiple units...I say in a pinch or occasionally, because even at 800W most small vehicles will not have an alternator that is designed for heavy loads for extended periods, some work trucks and RV's do have heavy duty alternators or even multiple ones because they are designed that way. I love EF products and I own many...but this, other than look pretty and be smaller than an inverter, nope.

He sees this costing less than investing in other quality Name brand inverters like renogy because it comes with all the cable, fuses and everything. I've watched most of the videos available currently and this is coming in at around half the price, or a little more, if you upgrade your alternator. Was just thinking what if you use this as a way to charge a off grid cabin instead of putting up solar panels or even having a gas generator use your vehicle to charge up the cabin batteries as needed and if you have a remote start for the car that would even be a bigger bonus :)
You can set the battery voltage you want to monitor. For example, if your setup, you can set it to 12V instead of 13V and it will then charge at 800w until it slowly drops as the car battery drops until it stops below 12V input.

Get a renogy dc to dc / solar , cheaper and can use your solar at the same time. You want to only pull about 20% of your alternator as well. Plus the solar can trickle charge your starter battery.
I could only get about 60-80W from my Prius's 12V power port for my EcoFlow Delta Mini. So iwith this particular product, the max current would be ~63A at the full 800W. So as long as your vehicle's alternator is rated for at least 125A or more, it should be totally fine.

Hello, thank you for this video. just one question: with an XT 150 to XT 60 adapter can we connect the EcoFlow charger to a battery of another brand (Bluetti)?
Got mine for $399. I’m planning to add a 30’ 1/0 extension to the battery cable with clamps for quick temporary install. This will allow me to charge my delta pros and delta 2 max inside the house or 5th wheel.
Great review! Thanks for discussing the various options. Solar is nice. But unless you are staying put for the full day at your campground you’re stuck for charging. And not everyone drives 8 hours a day. The gas alone to do that is crazy right now. Thanks for showing the alternatives and how to connect them. Much appreciated!
DC to DC charger has been around for 50 years. The lead acid battery used isolator. Lithium batteries use a controlled DC to DC charger and have been out for around 5 years or longer.
If you’re charging at 12 volts, it limits the watts to around 120 because the power station is typically limited to ten amp. Amps x volts = watts. So if you can double or triple the volts, you can charge at double or triple the speed. This can be done with a DC to DC converter at a much cheaper price. The advantage of this device is that it automates the process. Beware though that this could max out your alternator as it keeps your 12 volt car battery fully charged.
There's been a lot of videos on this device, but you don't get something for nothing, so this will definitely reduce the fuel economy of your vehicle. Since it is a DC charge, it's definitely cheaper than charging from AC.
Thanks for a good and informative video. I was visiting the US in 2019 and there was a lot of power drops. They said that the power companies turn off the power when the bush fires comes so that whole towns gets no electricity? Is this right? Or is the US power grid too weak to supply power?
I've not heard that. Our (overall) grid is capable but likely headed towards overloading, at least periodically. This was what was happening in Texas during their cold temps; system couldn't run continuously due to high usage. They had to turn it off/on and when on, would run for short periods before going off. l sources certainly needed during that mess - or at least heavy coats and blankets!
Thank you for the review and offering additional options. I own the Delta-2 but my specs show it only allows for 500 watts of solar input. How is yours allowing over 600? A year ago I installed a boost converter under my hood, attached to the car battery and boosting voltage to 24 VDC, then running much smaller wiring to the trunk. That allowed me to get about 200-250 watts. As I read comments below, I also just bought the Pecron as it was less expensive than other options and allows me to use multiple voltage battery banks to charge the variety of solar power stations I own via MC-4 connectors and adapters.
Yeah sounds like you've already got a workable solution then. But yeah it cam input up to 800W because it is bypassing the solar charge controller and going straight in through the battery expansion port.
@@ReeWrayOutdoors Ahh, I didn't think about it bypassing the controller, which I will not be able to do easily with my other power stations. Nice to know, thanks!
Looks like a glorified DC to DC charger at a high price with a higher voltage output for power station. Can get decent DC to DC charger and inverter for far less. Good review of it tho.
The Renogy 50a MPPT DC to DC is a way better option, it can handle 25A from your solar panels and it charges your Starter battery from PV when the house battery is full, has BT capability, also cost $200 less
I saw 2 different Electric Cars using this device fine. Just leave the switch on, so the High Voltage traction battery is charging your 12v battery. You don't need to drive to use it that method.
Thanks for the insights, Greg. I was reluctant to recommend it simply because I'd seen (unrelated to this charger) where some EV's were having issues with 12V battery systems and I was concerned adding something like this might increase the likelihood someone might experience those issues.
I think this would work fine with an EV 12v Battery. For example on a M3 long range RWD when the battery drops to 12.5v the charge cycle will start and it charges at around 14.55v until charging complete at 13.15v. So you may have a slower charge to start, same as in your example before you switched the solar on, but once the battery dropped to 12.5v then you would be charging at 14.55 so probably getting close to the 800w.
This costs $800. A 2000W pure sine inverter can be had for $200-250 with the necessary power cables. Not only does that save you a LOT of money, but it charges significantly faster and offers further utility for multiple devices, including power stations from other brands.
200 Watts is nothing. Most akterators can push out 1000 Watts. You would need a 800 to 1000 watt inverter to match this. But those are also much cheaper.
Mine will be here in 2 weeks. I don't mean to be harsh.. but do more RESEARCH on the products you do reviews on. I have a Delta 1300 and the Delta II and it won't plug into the 1st version.. it's the 1300 model and has no port on the side of it, nor does it have BT or WiFi.. It will work on the Delta II or later. 7:32 mark.. "threaded screws".. huh.. lol.. We know what you meant..
Would you be able to cut those cables that goes to your battery and use a couple of Anderson connectors so I can have my Power Station in a truck camper and be able to disconnect when I take the camper off the truck.
Something wrong if it take so long to charge a ecoflow. I have renogy 700w inverter in my truck with 6ga copper cable my alternator is 150 amps. Plenty to power inverter without battery drain. Its kind of important not to put too much stress on your alternator.
I'm by no means an 'expert' on this type of charging solution, but I did do some research on this and the consensus seems to be that as long as you're max current rating on the alternator is about 2x the max current of the DC -DC charger, it should be totally fine. Why not get a 600W power inverter and plug it into your lighter socket and use the AC connection on the EcoFlow? Then you can charge any power station on-the-go. Wouldn’t that work just as well?
A automotive lighter socket supplies 12 V (up to 14 V when engine is running) at 10 Amps maximum, so 14 x 10 = 140 Watts maximum. The 600W power inverter is only about 80-90% efficient, so it can supply no more than about 120 Watts continuously when hooked up that way. To get 600 Watts out of your inverter, you have to wire it directly to the battery terminals with relatively heavy wire.
I put a Renogy 40A DC to DC charger from my battery to a PUP 100 AH LIPO bat. to an inverter. I have LESS money in this set up than you do in that 1 box you just opened. Mine does the SAME thing your multi-thousand-dollar system does. What's better, rich or smart? I like smart and frugal.
This device doesn’t entirely do away with the need for solar. What if you running your fridge 24/7 and you in a warm climate like Texas. You will need to run your vehicle at least 1-2 hours per day. Maybe you can skip a day if the weather one day gets cold. But unless you’re driving your vehicle 1-2 hours a day, you still need to either plug into ac, use solar or run your vehicle daily. Now don’t get me wrong. I love the fact we can charge at 800 watts from our vehicle, and I will install one of these in my vehicle for sure.
Hate being held hostage by a company. I'll reevaluate a universal friendly option that others will offer soon. Don't need an app, if it works on it's own.
just a question - If you own an EV (Battery Electric Vehicle - NOT HYBRID) would this still work, if you connect it directly to the 12V battery, as the main drive battery of the EV charges the 12V....so was actually wondering about this, as I would definitely buy this along with a EcoFlow Generator as a electric jerry can for my EV and having this inside the car to charge on the off chance I run out of juice in the EV and couldn't get to a Charging Station.
Great video! Has anyone tried this Ecoflow alternator charger TOGETHER with the DC input (XT60i) at the same time? Can the Delta 2 combine two different charge inputs into a higher charging capacity?
I enjoyed the video, but prior to posting I checked the price of an alternator for my new $80,000 truck and it was $1,300.00, if this item malfunctioned would Eco flow pay for the repairs, and would the vehicle manufacturer recommend this product?.
They must cover repairs if under warranty and unless they can PROVE the failure was due to some unauthorized use or change. How much would you tell them?
For what you are paying for all that intelligent charging system you can get a high output alternator that can handle the needs of the vehicle and support your house battery / power station needs. Consider Mechman Alternators or J & J Alternators to create a more powerful mobile powerplant, I run a 320 alternator and two 1000-amp Optima bats wired in parallel in my Suburban.
I actually mis-spoke on that connector. It's actually an XT150 connector... And it would be possible (I believe) to get it to charge other battery/power stations, it'd take a bit of DIY ...and I'd think you might actually be better off at that point just saving some money and going with a more 'generic' DC-DC charger.
The EV's depend on their internal DC-DC charger to keep the low voltage battery topped off. Some are good some are pretty weak. Research to find out what it can handle.
Maybe? But I think there's a strong chance it wont since it threw an error ok comms until I updated the Delta 2 firmware. Seems it's looking for some handshaking for compatible devices.
Basically a more sophesticated version of the Daygreen chargers and dc-dc step up converters sold online. I use a 12 to 58V step up dc to dc charger from Daygreen. 100A input 20A output 1072watts. Use it to charge Oecron E1500lfp and E600LFP power stations at the same time.
I am a newbie here and am electronically challenged. But I ordered the Alternator charger with the idea of connecting it with a standalone battery in my SUV. The battery would then charge my Delta 2. Are you with me so far? The battery is a 12V/24V 100Ah/200AH Lithium LiFePO4 Deep Cycle Battery, 3000+Deep Cycles, 100A BMS. Can I do this and only charge the battery with shore power when needed? TYI Joel
Do not leave power cord rolled up,it creates a magnetic field, creating a larger load on battery. Creates a less amount of charging current and possibly fire hazard.

I'd charge it off the inverter in back of Ute whilst driving
@xraykadiddlehopper8067 here in Australia I use the redarc gear pure sine wave no issues
This is WAY better than what Bluetti has up it's sleeve.
I'm curious if that would work on an Ev. There is a 12v battery and that seems to be the connection.
Hello, thank you for this video. just one question: with an XT 150 to XT 60 adapter can we connect the EcoFlow charger to a battery of another brand (Bluetti)?
I have gmc hd truck with a 120v receptacle in bed ,can I charge the Eco 2 system when I’m driving ?
Got mine for $399. I’m planning to add a 30’ 1/0 extension to the battery cable with clamps for quick temporary install. This will allow me to charge my delta pros and delta 2 max inside the house or 5th wheel.
How did you get it for $399?
So I was thinking about the solar panels vs the Portable one or the permanent wones to use on it?
Question… should I get a high output alternator to aide in power for accessories.
How well will it work after they inevitably shut down the app service?
Why not use the 12 V mini inverter I bought one for $28. Which creates a 300 w
Looks like a glorified DC to DC charger at a high price with a higher voltage output for power station. Can get decent DC to DC charger and inverter for far less. Good review of it tho.
DC to DC converters generally get hot. What are the temps for this unit. Since I don't see any fans on this unit?
It's warm but not hot. I can leave my hand on mine when charging at 800W and its not even close to uncomfortable.
Can I use this to my 2013 toyota corolla? My mechanic told me not to use it because it’ll kill my car. 😢
I for one, will be buying this accessory for my ecoflow delta pro when I purchase it
I think this would work fine with an EV 12v Battery.
Careful. This will void most EV warrantees.
were you ever able to find if this works on mustang mach e ??
This costs $800. A 2000W pure sine inverter can be had for $200-250 with the necessary power cables. Not only does that save you a LOT of money, but it charges significantly faster and offers further utility for multiple devices, including power stations from other brands.
200 Watts is nothing.
Most akterators can push out 1000 Watts.
You would need a 800 to 1000 watt inverter to match this.
But those are also much cheaper.
Nice to.know. l commented elsewhere l like this device. But l didn't think about the less expensive approach you describe here.
@@We-Do-NOT-Consent-303 2000W. Typo.

I like that I can charge with my 560 watts of solar and this at the same time, plus the app is el neato.
Can i connect this to a car like corolla?
Love it.
$600??? Gtfoh. Prices like these are why people pause and reconsider investing in this stuff. Insane!
Using the app, can you adjust the maximum wattage that this alternator charger will pull off the starter battery/alternator? Thanks!
Something wrong if it take so long to charge a ecoflow. I have renogy 700w inverter in my truck with 6ga copper cable my alternator is 150 amps. Plenty to power inverter without battery drain. Its kind of important not to put too much stress on your alternator.
I am really confused at how this works. So I just want to know if it could damage your alternator or cause you to have to replace it sooner?
I'm by no means an 'expert' on this type of charging solution, but I did do some research on this and the consensus seems to be that as long as you're max current rating on the alternator is about 2x the max current of the DC -DC charger, it should be totally fine. So iwith this particular product, the max current would be ~63A at the full 800W. So as long as your vehicle's alternator is rated for at least 125A or more, it should be totally fine.
Are they missing one connection? Being able to wire to the bus bars to charge the House batteries as well?
I put a Renogy 40A DC to DC charger from my battery to a PUP 100 AH LIPO bat. to an inverter. I have LESS money in this set up than you do in that 1 box you just opened. Mine does the SAME thing your multi-thousand-dollar system does. What's better, rich or smart? I like smart and frugal.
@inmyopinion6836 I saw other YT'ers say that the simple DC to DC chargers get VERY hot. Does this magically not happen with the Renogy one?
Game changer is over used
Your comment is a game changer!
My use case employs a Delta 2 with the Delta 2 Extra daisychained, so my aux battery port is taken. Any thoughts on this use case?
This device doesn’t entirely do away with the need for solar. What if you running your fridge 24/7 and you in a warm climate like Texas. You will need to run your vehicle at least 1-2 hours per day. Maybe you can skip a day if the weather one day gets cold. But unless you’re driving your vehicle 1-2 hours a day, you still need to either plug into ac, use solar or run your vehicle daily.
Now don’t get me wrong. I love the fact we can charge at 800 watts from our vehicle, and I will install one of these in my vehicle for sure.
My truck has an AC converter, would I be losing like 30% or something?
Will that work in a semi truck. 24 volts
You didn’t test it with an actual car?
Will this work with any Lithium battery or does it have to be an eco-flow battery in order to charge
What alternator would work best to upgrade to run the ecoflow dc charger?
Hate being held hostage by a company. I'll reevaluate a universal friendly option that others will offer soon. Don't need an app, if it works on it's own.
Yeah I might have a similar solution for non-EF users to show soon.
just a question - If you own an EV (Battery Electric Vehicle - NOT HYBRID) would this still work, if you connect it directly to the 12V battery, as the main drive battery of the EV charges the 12V....so was actually wondering about this, as I would definitely buy this along with a EcoFlow Generator as a electric jerry can for my EV and having this inside the car to charge on the off chance I run out of juice in the EV and couldn't get to a Charging Station.
Since the EV does not have a conventional alternator, I wouldn't risk it.
Also, be careful. ANYTHING you hook up to a Tesla battery will void any remaining warrantee.
Question: Just recently purchased a Delta Flow II , Will it work with this option...?
@@mikebey532 yep. Should work with any Delta series unit
I wonder if this would work with a quad?
So are you saying that will charge it completely full just by driving 1-2 hrs?
Would this count as "fast charging" which may shorten the lifespan of the battery? Forgive my ignorance... I am still learning these systems.
ecoflow batteries have fixed top charging speed. you won't exceed that, your battery will be fine
Great video! Has anyone tried this Ecoflow alternator charger TOGETHER with the DC input (XT60i) at the same time? Can the Delta 2 combine two different charge inputs into a higher charging capacity?
Delta 2 and delta 2 max and delta pro can only take one input source at a time...
An XT 90connector does NOT six little pins in the center, so it must be some other type of connector!!
Then use a suitcase solar whilst you are out hiking the solar will be changing.
Will it work with the river model ....
@tcsfq99 no, just the Delta series since the River units don't have that big battery expansion port.
@ReeWrayOutdoors So they won't be and adapter?? I have two and one with ext battery
@@ReeWrayOutdoors thank you thou
Is xt90 a universal plug? Is this only usable with Ecoflow products?
I actually mis-spoke on that connector. It's actually an XT150 connector... And it would be possible (I believe) to get it to charge other battery/power stations, it'd take a bit of DIY ...and I'd think you might actually be better off at that point just saving some money and going with a more 'generic' DC-DC charger.
The EV's depend on their internal DC-DC charger to keep the low voltage battery topped off. Some are good some are pretty weak. Research to find out what it can handle.
Go to auto zone and buy a 250 amp alternator with lifetime warranty and bammm all is good
can u buy this in the uk I looked at the site and it takes me to us site
Hi
Can l charge my eco flow river pro with eco flow alternator charger if so how ( in diagram
Unfortunately, the connector cable they ship with this only works with the Delta series.
You left out the impact on the alternator such as heat generated at different rpms.
See comments below for less expensive alternatives.
So if I install a xt90 connection to my battery it will work?
Maybe? But I think there's a strong chance it wont since it threw an error ok comms until I updated the Delta 2 firmware. Seems it's looking for some handshaking for compatible devices.
Great video!
Basically a more sophesticated version of the Daygreen chargers and dc-dc step up converters sold online.
I use a 12 to 58V step up dc to dc charger from Daygreen. 100A input 20A output 1072watts. Use it to charge Oecron E1500lfp and E600LFP power stations at the same time.
you could have mention the steep price !
Is the Ecoflow 800 alternator charger compatible with 3.6L engine with eTorque?
Is that not an xt150 connector?
You are correct! I didn't catch my mistake until after I'd posted. :P
TYI Joel
Yeah that'll work (it's what I was doing in the video). You just won't get the full 800W...probably more like 400-500W, which is still pretty good.
Do not leave power cord rolled up,it creates a magnetic field, creating a larger load on battery. Creates a less amount of charging current and possibly fire hazard.
Honda inverter, no wires required. Just a little noisy.
Nice unit.. but only good for ecoflow units.... if and when can use on other powers stations or othe manufacturers make the same I will buy!
What good is a device that is powered from a vehicle. If you are in a location long term, disconnect your vehicle your trailer or 5th wheel will not charge! Solar Panels are always connected and charging your batteries.
He described situations when solar panels won't cut it in the video. 🤷
super!!!!!
