Managed to get my stepfather his dream knife, a Benchmade Infidel. The kicker is I found him one of the limited edition burnt copper handled ones. After serving our country overseas he deserved it! It was awesome to see the smile on his face. 🙏🏼
I got my first benchmade, an auto stryker, back in 2004 during my first deployment to Iraq when I was in the Marines. 2 deployments and 16 years later it's still my everyday carry. the tip is broken off and it's duller than shit but I love it. Benchmade Mediator is next
Mediator - bought it just before the pandemic hit and it has been my constant companion as I walk from room to room (lol). Actually, i do get out of the house and this goes with me faithfully every day.
Love my Benchmade auto folders! In my opinion, the 9100 series Auto Stryker is the best auto folder ever produced. The 9400 is very interesting, but I think I would prefer my 9555 Auto Rift over it, very similar Osborne design. Of the knives shown, I say hands down the CLA is the best auto folder.
I've been carrying a Casbah for just about 2 years. Oil, chemicals, polyurethane piping, braided hoses, recycled plastic film, cardboard etc. Blade still flies out, its decently centered, coating is still going strong, sharpens up nicely and has plenty of edge. The grivory handles dont have any damage after getting banged and dropped a dozen different times. Its a work knife and if anyone asks which automatic work knife they should get, I tell them get a Casbah. I just wish Benchmade would release an S90V version and possibly thrown in Carbon fiber scales just for kicks.
Living with an Osborne 940 for years and years and years, the auto version is a cool addition to one of the *absolute* best EDC knives in existence. You can find prettier, or more useful, or MUCH cheaper alternatives - but you can't beat the Osborne for an EDC in all circumstances. That knife will be imitated for centuries to come.
I have a CLA and use it as my EDC. I really like it. The first blade developed chips for the first year. I sent it back to Benchmade and they wouldn't cover it under warranty. I paid for a new blade. The new blade has no problems so I still believe there was an improper tempering of the first blade although they confirmed the Rc hardness was with in spec.
I have owned a 3550 for 20 years absolutely love it. Doing some maitenence I lost the ball bearing for the slide safety years ago which has sidelined the knife for now! Small easy to carry and patinas well. Great knife I cant wait to put into rotation again some day. Hope to add a 9400 to my collection someday soon as well
@Yeetus_Deletus_Mission_Completus I have the same problem. I’ve never handled an auto so I tell myself that I’m not missing out on too much but I know that isn’t true
My first auto was an original Presidio auto. My EDC for several years, and still regularly, is a Presidio II auto. I have an Infidel and Casbah, and the Casbah is an awesome knife (but I generally like bigger knives). I love Benchmades, and really enjoy auto knives.
For Benchmade, I still find myself going back to my 2550 mini-reflexs (I have two of them). friendly size, easy to carry and great action. For more discreet situations, I go with my Lerch. Thank you for your vids!
I love my Bugout, my favorite knive of all, but only the all black version. It feels much better than the blue and the green one (different handle material). But I like also the automatics. 9400 on my list, mediator too. The Autocrat is a birthday gift. From me to me after I sold my kidney for it....
How did you guys not include the Bedlam 8600? 😉 Beast of an OTS and my first Benchmade ever. One of Benchmade's nastiest knives for sure. Great video as always guys. 👍🏻
Jamie, I think I'm speaking for many of us here, but if this knife banter was an hour long I think we'd all still be here watching. Also, I use to love the CLA but the price just wasn't right for me. Here in NY, autos are legal to own but not carry so it would just be a real expensive fidget knife. Instead, I went with casbah and you are right it really is a great knife. It's like an auto bugout, I carry it every chance I get when I'm out of state.
I just ordered a 9400, I have the 5700sbk but it's to beefy to have it as a light edc, I'm hoping I made the right final choice with this, between my BM I'll have $1000 invested into them!! Ahhhhhhh I wanted the CLA but didn't care for the steel. The bailout is hella great but I edc a Kershaw launch 8, I love me some automatics
Preface: I am a fan and BHQ customer so.... I have to give candid feedback. Seemed like y'all were mailing it in this week. Benchmade autos? Hey, at least it wasn't another Bugout video.
My Favorite Benchmade is the 4300 CLA, second being the Mediator... not a 940-9400 fan so looking to get another one....I do like the Casbah but wish they had better scales, they should honestly remake or over it with better scale design, heck even G10 would be nice.. far as their OTF'S not my style I'll stick with Microtech OTF'S
Well my 940 is what I'm trusting with this post-Zeta cleanup, so if I had to choose one of those, it'd probably be the 9400. Do we have a ballpark estimate on when that Jade G-10 M4 940 is dropping?
The Infidel is one of my grail knives. I LOVE IT, because I imagine myself carrying it Assassin's Creed style, wrist-mounted. It's just beautiful and I love the symmetry!
I recently bought a Casbah and I feel like I got screwed. Not only is it pretty huge, but the action on it SUUUCCKKS big time. I expected way more from Benchmade. It opens really slowly which makes it feel really cheap. I have a Kershaw Launch 9 that feels infinitely better and will jump out of your hand if you're not expecting it. That's what an auto should feel like. I really would like a CLA or auto Osborne, but after the Casbah I don't think I would give them a shot.
My 940-1 is 6 years old, and is pretty much perfect! It preforms already like an auto, but with the extra fidget factor of snapping it back. I think the auto is an unnecessary gimmick to something I've never asked for?? Just my opinion 😉
I think the problem with the Casbah is, I feel that grivory is a scale material that is best used in moderation. The bugout is a perfect amount to not be cheap looking and chunky. Too much of it starts looking like a box cutter.
@@tonyochoa7097 Yeah, I can understand that. Unless it's a backpacking knife, though, I don't care much about weight. I already carry a Glock 19, a leatherman, a M2R Pro flashlight, etc.; might as well go with a sturdy knife. Lol
My dad has a couple bench made automatics issued in the military back when they were illegal. But they aren’t now and I have two of them and idk what they are
That safety on the 9400 has saved my thumb. the first week I had the 9400 I was not use to the safety and it opened in my pocket and opened my thumb the button is a little tall that is one thing I would change
hi guys! i recently was a dumbass and broke the tip of my 1990 spyderco clipit delica off. do you guys offer a re-tipping service/ have any tips on how i could do it? thank you so much!
I agree, I'm not a big aluminum handle fan. The 940-1 has carbon fiber handles and better steel... and a higher price tag. I got the 940-2 a couple weeks ago and it's been in my pocket since.
@@Ryan_the_tinz see I’m not a big carbon fiber guy but everyone has different taste but the scales that come on it I think are perfect love how they feel!! If you never held one I would highly recommend it, might just change your mind
The 4300 Is My Favorite Model!! And IMO is ther best auto model they make! Second being the Mediator... the Autocrat is ok but they Need To Start putting different style blades in them.. if they made one with the blade profile as the 4300 I'd be all over it!! There Casbah is ok but the Cheesy bulky handles mess it up, I think they should start using titanium over the plastic or least over both options
Hi Guys I hope you guys are doing great. I was thinking how I would love to see an auto Bailout,Bugout or a Griptilian auto? Now that's a task and a change for Benchmade! We all love Benchmade knives but imagine practically all of their knives in auto fashion? That would be a WoW
Im always paranoid when it comes to automatics with the buttons on the handle like that. Even with a safety it still seems it'll fail or malfunction when in use.
I am sure the 940 is wonderful…but I just can’t get past how long and slim the knife is. I would not like this as an EDC. The 4300-1 CLA I have is so perfect I have no complaints…but hey that’s what is so great about opinions…some hate some love…it’s all good. 😎
Hell right now I'd be happy with any Benchmade I lost my super freak a couple months back and I feel naked without it I do want to know why nobody ever mentions the claymore

Buy Benchmade for axis lock, Microtech for OTF’s, and Protech for push button autos....

I have a CLA and I just love it! Not to big, not to small. It fits in the pocket just right for EDC.

Liked the two opinions all in all really good knives. I was always simple with a 940 recently I did get a 9400
CLA has the best ergos of all those options, but I agree that an S90V blade would easily make it the best benchmade auto of all time.
