Almost a year later and this video saved my LIFE. I had tried for at least an hour to get my cartridges to read. I went with the removing cartridges, turning printer off, unplugging and walking away. While the cartridges were out I also cleaned off their chips and the contact points of the printers with alcohol and a microfiber cloth. We hadn't used our printer for a couple of years, no matter how long the ink dries up. I bought a $10 kit online. Make sure to carefully put all cartridges in a sealed plastic bag first! Directions show you how to put paper towels inside printer to catch water for each nozzle. You put clean water in a syringe, attach a tube to a nozzle & squirt water in. I ended up leaving a damp paper towel over the nozzles all night and closed the printer. Wipe the bottoms of the cartridges with warm water on a paper towel, then insert them back in and give it a try. Mine worked. Follow the directions on the box!

Downloaded an epson update forced on me by Epson, now printer won't recognize my new ink cartridges that were recently installed. If you only print sporadically, the cartridge carrier can get gummed up. If that's the case, there are videos here that will show you how to remove it and clean it. You would remove the cartridges, pull the lever on the far back right side of the cartridge carrier, then pull the carrier up and out. If I recall right, you place folded paper towel in the bottom of a glass bowl, add about an inch of HOT water to the bowl, then place the carrier into the water and let set for 10-20 minutes. Remove the carrier and place over another folded paper towel and let dry overnight before replacing. Worked for me.

Very frustrating. I tried running the printer ink head cleaning or whatever it's called and it didn't do anything. Anyone else was able to fix this issue with 3rd party cartridges???
It is possible that the print head is clogged or the tape at vent hole is not removed. Please follow the steps at our another video to see if it helps. ua-cam.com/video/a7TGQQA42LU/v-deo.html
I had this issue. I was so frustrated. Head clean, head clean, head clean... no changes. I work with high-end commercial printers for the sign industry. Why couldn't I get my dinky desktop printer to work!? Operator error. Turns out I forgot to remove the tape. It was somewhat of a humbling moment.
I looked on my app. Said ink cartridges aren't compatible 😑. Least my printer is cleaned
I appreciate that this video is trying to help but who the f* still keeps used ink cartridges? 3:10
Who keeps the old cartridges???? 😡😡😡😡
My epson printer sucks. I print 5 pages and bam, my cartridge is empty
None of these things worked for me. I'll never buy an HP printer again but it looks like others are bad like this also.
So how do you get the printer cartridge cradle to move out from the right side when the power still has to be off, you forgot that step 😢
I have the same problem, you can't re install them,🤣😂
If cleaning doesnt fix the problem just get a second set of cartridges, yeah right, do know how much that costs, I cant put out that much money for TWO sets of cartridges.
wf 3820 when turned off returns the ink holder to the "stored" position which does not allow new cartridges to be added. Printer must be turned on to get new cartridges in. Your instructions, otherwise very good, are to not turn on the printer before adding new cartridge. Can't be done. HP next time...
I'll print at the library. .......it at least is reliable.
Wow, well pronounced.
how to downgrade firmware update
Here is the firmware downgrade url for HP - www.compandsave.com/hp-printer-firmware-downgrade/ and it is for Epson - www.compandsave.com/epson-printer-firmware-reset-downgrade
Stop using any ink, do your crosswords, etc. on line instead --- save paper, ink and the world !!!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too wordy - takes til almost three minutes to get going.
Why use a chip? its only purpose it to stop the printer from working for no legitimate reason
printer still not working why does everying technological have to be so difficult
DOES NOT WORK
I have an Epson workforce 645. Tried this video and numerous other videos and none of them work. I'm ready to shit-can this printer!
Step 1. Reduce video to 30 seconds.
NO GOOD FOR MY EPSON XP 540 so if you have one of these, don't waste your time--just buy genuine inks. No point asking ersatz inks supplier to replace the duds--they just don't reply...there's no honor among thieves! Sorry my feedback isn't better and thanks for trying to help.
Without a doubt the worst thing ever put on the entire Internet. Truly appalling
I had installed new cartridges, it was working fine. I was printing and then suddenly it did this shit. EPSON is the worst of the worst
He is from dhar mann
Step 1 - don't buy Epson
rub the shit out of the contacts with rubber alcohol, eventually fixed it
This is the most useless piece of video for fixing an ink cartridge not recognized by printer! Even worse, it took over 6 minutes when it could have been done in one!!!
Nope. Didnt work.
EXPIRED CARTRIDGES, EXPIRED BY HP CHIP?!
I never buy from now HP product! NEVER!
I will never buy your trash printers ever again.
These printer are horrible
Stupid Epson Printer's, HP builds better Units
I’m about ready to throw this POS Epstein 5200 at my wife for buying it. 2 months old and it will not accept the 4 new ink cartridges!!! 🤪
Lots of TALK, no RESULT, TALK LESS DO PROPER WAY TO SOLVE PROBLEM
NOTHING has worked! I HATE this printer! It was literally printing fine a few days ago and then boom, it randomly doesn’t recognize the cartridge. I’ll be investing in a new printer. Tired of wasting money on ink, only for it to stop working midway!
