33:26 failure to whistle, time for a three week re-training course and god knows how many forms. Also the faulty gauge and increased drag is caused by poor maintenance on the train, it's a realistic depiction of early privatisation. It's not a bug it's a feature!
Yes, I did enjoy another splendid video, Peter. I lived in Tunbridge Wells for six years in the 70's and 80's and used the line to Charing Cross a lot. I think that more of the tunnels, not less, were singled for electrification because standard size coaches could not pass in tunnels that were curved. That is one reason why the Hastings Diesels that I travelled on were retained beyond their expected useful life.
Fond memories of this particular route which starts to and from London's most central terminus, Charing Cross by the Strand, a few minutes from Trafalgar Square. The most recent for me was in the summer of 2016 to see a film called 'Jason Bourne' at the Odeon Hastings in the town centre.
Regarding the tunnels, very shortly after completion several of the tunnels experienced problems, which were solved by extra lining courses of brickwork inside the tunnel, reducing the size of the bore and resulting in the restricted loading gauge of the line (C0) It was worked by its own class of diesel units from the 1960s, noted for their flat slab sides, while the singling of the lines through the tunnels in the early 1980s allowed standard size stock to use the line and prepared for electrification. There was a small batch of class 33s also built for the Hastings line. rumour was the cost of building the jigs for the last batch pushed the builder into bankruptcy
Yeah sorry Peter about the green banner repeater at Tunbridge Wells. Unfortunately it was the only postless repeater in the signalling set. Regards. Route Author.
At 1:28 you see white houses, that is Barden Road in Tonbridge and one of those houses is where I grew up as a young lad! I got to learn the routes and times over the years! The whole house would shake when freight trains went through but seeing Eurostar was great back then. In real life the houses are not white by the way.
I might be a bit late to the party, but there's a download somewhere on the internet called the "Slam Door EMU Mini EP" which adds some texture improvements, and fixes the speedo - worth a download for anyone who likes these old EMUs :)
I need help how do I get the connex 421 and 423 on train simulator because I bought the class 421 and 423 on the train simulator but they didn't come with the connex
I thought I was the only one to ride in the connecting corridors alongside the cabs when the old NSE stock ran in multiple. Damn shame they got rid of the Mk1 units. Ride may have been terrible but at least the seats were comfy!
WAIT... YOU LIVE IN BEXHILL? Omg I live in Hastings. I get so triggered how its based in the past and I have no idea how to edit at all. I bet you can agree that they should make a route from Hastings to London Bridge, as well as Brighton, if they made a route from Brighton/Eastbourne to Ashford, and Ashford to London that would almost have a whole map of mainline trains into and around London. I'm watching around for the sales, I've just brought in the last week, Portsmouth Direct Line, Brighton to London, London to Faversham, class 421, and am going to buy Chatham main line, north Somerset, North London and Goblin, and town scenery. I don't know if you know this, but what is the difference between a Class 375, 377, and 387.🧐
I sure do! You're just down the road from me. I wish this route had been set in the present day, and like you I am not a route editor. I would love to see the full East Coastway and Marshlink line created, where it can be joined to the London to Brighton/South London Network routes. Then you could drive from London Victoria or London Bridge to Brighton, Seaford, Eastbourne, and Hastings. Plus have a decent route to run the Class 171s on with the Eastbourne to Ashford trains.
@@PTGRail Yeah, I agree I suggested on a community page when one of the developers asked what future routes we would like. I said Southampton add onto Portsmouth line, Hastings-Charing X, and Brighton/Eastbourne-Hastings. It would he so cool if they merged all of the UK routes into one but it would be very laggy. Since this comment I have made 2 scenario routes. One is from Faversham to St Pancras on a class 395, with some delays which are glitching and turning themselves around so I had to take a light out on a platform to let the blocker train pass. I will update and make scenarios for the 1066 line.
*Using Class 171's (southern), Class 375 (Southeastern), Class 377 (Southern), and some other stuff like the Class 395, and some freight, but only to the extent of the trains I have. I have most southern lines.I will also see if I or if I can suggest to someone else to make a route from Hastings to Tonbridge to connect to the Chatham Main Line to South London Network. So we can make a service from Hastings to London Bridge. Charing X and Waterloo east isnt too much to my concern anyway, since my father works in London and catches the everyday (weekday) 5:15-30 service from Hastings (Battle) to Charing X (London Bridge), before catching the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf.
I used to live by bo peep junction, adjacent to the former west marina Station to b exact, good to see a route to Hastings formed 👍 thumpers were really noisy in that tunnel lol, used to catch one from Eastbourne back from college!
Doubt has been cast on the 'known' site of the Battle of Hastings by recent archaeological evidence the details of which I cannot recall. Evidence suggests that the battle was actually fought nearby, but not on the field where it was previously reputed to be held.
I'll always believe people who chose to build a gigantic abbey on the site over those with a book to sell or who just refuse to believe that the truth can be that simple.
VonBlade I never said that I believed anything. Merely that recent research suggests something different. I keep an open mind. Remember that religious bodies also have their own agendas.
Good video, it's a shame these units aren't on the mainline anymore, although Spa Valley has 1497 which was one of the 3 cars that survived until 2010 on the Lymington branch, so that's better than nothing
When I start this train I have the HUD showing so I press F4 to get rid of it but all I see is the top of the dashboard. I tried to zoom back but then I see the back of the driver in his seat. Can anyone tell me how to see the full controls?
Great video, I'm a driver on that route they made a good job at re-creating it although there are a few things that are a little off. Im not sure if it is you or just the way the sound effects work, but at a Whistle board you should sound the low tone only, 2 tone is a warning or people on or near the line.
That was me choosing to use both tones at the whistle boards. Back in the 1990s, I do remember hearing trains use both tones. Are the current horn use rules more recent than that?
I think you may be right. I seem to remember something to do with trains making too much noise that's why the rules were changed. The rules currently says that at a whistle board between the hours of 06:00 and 00:00 you should sound the low tone on the horn. it was 07:00 - 23:00 but that was changed about a year ago.
@@DadRail remember them complaining about the horns when the 375s /377s were released , I didn't have a problem myself with it as love the trains but it was really loud if u were by a tunnel mouth like at warrior square lol 😂( I'm going back to 2004/2005!)
PTG rail I live in Bexhill. I am planing to build the east coastway rought from Bexhill to London Victoria and Bexhill to Brighton I love your videos and keep up the good work.

Excellent. Tonbridge to Tunbridge Wells used to be my daily commute.
Thanks Pete, Great to see one of the Backdated routes :-)
The horn on the train sim 421 sounds like an old dot matrix printer :D
That's funny
Your videos are awesome Sir ! I’m always learning something while watching them !
Going over the Braybrooke Road bridge looks very realistic with the old buildings in the road below 👍 👍

I just got this route now and I am driving it! It looks amazing judging by this video! 😀

Is it planned?

I have no idea, but I really want to see it in the game! :)
I hope so too. My grandparents own a flat near Cooden beach and we always watched the trains pass.
Hi PTG. Your videos are brilliant, is there a possibility that you may be able to do a merseyrail service from Hunts Cross to Southport at all? Thanks
How I can download?
Are you still considering a freight train route learning tutorial to do a question and answer session
Do u have a model railway and if you do which line did you model
I hope they do the east coastway rought
Yes! Thank you!
P.S. I believe it's pronounced Fra-unt not Fra-ant.
Do you get the updated version ts18 if you have the cd version of ts17. Good video 😁😀

Not a complete one. But many different routes, some still not released so no.
