My elderly mother was slowly walking ahead of me from a Target store to our car parked far away from the entrance. The checkout line wait was too long for her to stand so she left ahead of me. As I was leaving the store, I saw a young guy standing in front of store watching my mom & start to follow her. I quickly got close behind him & jingled my keys just as he was a few feet behind her & he ran off like he was being shot at. I never told her she was being stalked like prey & I still regret 15 years later I didn't go back into Target to report this guy because he looked like he knew what he was doing & wasn't going stop.

EXCUSE ME !!!!!!!. The wench said ,,'oh is she yours ?'....MOM IS ONLY 105 LBS.. Mom grabbed Kyla who was 1 year old and the lady turned all kinds of pink and red and yellow....then she immediately left !!!! I was in disbelief , I only pray to GOD that this lady never stole anybody else's baby...I should have grabbed her and handed her to police becuz this lady was headed straight for the exit with Kyla in her arms......I sometimes talk to mom about it and she says we were both watching Kyla like 2 eagles and out of nowhere this happened .....I apologize to society for failing them in my prayers !!!
On Friday I was walking with both my kids, holding their hands when I noticed someone suspiciously waiting for us to pass by. I stopped and turned the opposite way. I briefly looked behind and noticed he was walking our way. There was a crowd of people so I walked behind them and the stranger and I made eye contact. When I noticed he wasn’t stopping I literally pulled my kids close to me and crossed the street. There was a group of people walking on that side of the street so I lingered until the stranger started to cross over. At that moment I called out to a man who was about to enter a restaurant and told him that someone was following us. He told me to stay with him and he guided us into the restaurant. The stranger didn’t look all there mentally. He was whispering but was, for some reason, fixated on getting to us. The man asked him if he needed something and when he didn’t respond he questioned why he was following us and scared him away. This nice man walked my kids and I to my moms house which was just across the street. I felt so vulnerable with one kid on each hand and afraid of him trying to take one of my kids. I don’t know who the man at the restaurant is but I am so grateful for him!!

frightening. Have good home security. I have a fence surrounding the house I live in with a padlock on the gate. When somebody knocks on your door ask who it is first. A lot of times when people have break in they have been stalked a long time to see the habits of the inhabitants. If I were you I would not entertain door to door salesmen. Again be careful. You were lucky that you were able to push the intruder out. And I hate to be the voice of doom, but that intruder may be coming back
People should get off their phones and be more aware of their surroundings at all times. What could be so important on there that you can’t stay off for 30 minutes?

Anyone who threatens a vulnerable woman or child, and is caught with physical evidence (video recording not just "witnesses") proving this behavior, needs to be on a watch list for a year.
Situational awareness. I taught my daughter when she moved to the city for school to be observant. Stay off your phone and keep an eye on your surroundings. You don't have to be paranoid, just aware and observant.
This is so important. More parents need to do this. I have always been a fan of crime shows so even at a young age I was very observant. This has saved me a few times. Especially if you're a half way descent looking young lady.
This happened to me six months ago, it was really violent like outside in broad daylight with people that could see what was happening. I even saw the dudes the day after because they lived next to me in a bad neighborhood. I never use my phone in public transports or even outside even if I don’t know the area, I just memorize where I should go. My mom always told me to never use the phone in public transports, I stand by that and even scold my boyfriend a bit when he does it and if I feel like someone is a bit too suspicious (really slow hand reaching out is a common one)
Law enforcement does nothing. I was forced off of the road, and a man jumped out, screaming that he was going to cut off my head- my friend was with me. I called the police, and they said, " he's just stressed because of Covid. Men are more aggressive, just go home and don't go out."(?????)
Kudos to the woman who noticed the footsteps behind her and reacted quickly. This is why we as women, can't walk around looking at our phones or while listening to headphones. It's a horrible, horrible fact of life that we live in a world where we should expect the possibility of being assaulted at any and every moment. Just protect yourselves and carry at least one weapon because too many people are out to harm anybody they can.

My best friend was a very tiny woman she always carried a gun to be safe she took classes and always carried the gun A man tried to get in her car one day and she just lifted it up off the seat pointed it and said are you sure you want to get in my car? She didn't fire the gun but she scared him away that was the biggest reason for the gun in case a situation like that occurred When she walked her dog she kept it in her pocket and usually kept her hand in her pocket I don't know if she had a bad experience when she was younger but she knew how to stay safe as an adult always told me I was too trusting of people and shes probably right.

Common thieves, rapists and murderers was likely even more of an issue in past times. There are times where it's less of a problem and there's times where it's more, but nowadays with cameras being mostly everywhere and modern technology we're able to see more crimes and catch more criminals. It's likely that rather than more crime actually taking place we're just able to see more of the existing crime.

exactly, I was assaulted at a strip mall. No other car was parked next to me. There was nobody around either. I got out of my car and went to the back passenger side to get my dry cleaning and a man was immediately up against my back, we ended up fighting in the backseat. He later went after more people in their cars around the corner at Krogers, He burned a person with a raid can and a lighter. Nothing from Houston PD in over a year.

As someone that was almost attacked at the age of 10 I am very aware of my surroundings! I was able to escape but it changed my habits. I dont look at my cell phone, I look around me when Im walking & I turn if I hear footsteps behind me! Its aweful that we have to live that way!
I live the same way but my reason is we live in a very high crime city. I suggest getting a concealed carry permit. It helps you feel prepared to protect yourself

Good on these ladies for having the guys to use their voice. I always tell people, men included, that if they can and are comfortable with them, learn how properly carry and use firearms. I’m glad I grew up in a hunting family. I started learning about gun safety when I was 4. I learned how to actually shoot when I was about 5 or 6. My uncle also taught me a lot about different martial arts techniques and how to defend myself whenever a gun wasn’t the safest idea. Always be aware of your surroundings. Attackers look for people that aren’t paying attention. All it takes is one split second for someone to sneak up on you. And before you know it you’re either way j the hospital or the grave.

This is happening to me in an entirely different state- a number of times. Several days ago, a man threatened to shoot me between the eyes, and kill my family because he " didn't like my vibe" as I was walking to my car with my dogs. I am a single woman and a mother. The next night someone parked to shine their high beams into my living room window at 3 am, where I sit and write. I stepped outside, and a crew from the car threatened me. I recorded them, and made a police report. ( Although that doesn't seem to do much these days). I also have a surveillance camera at my home, a dashcam in my car and I carry my cell phone when I walk my dogs... All in the last few years. I also have been threatened because of my handicapped tag on my car.

Lady's, please start carrying pepper gel. They make a brand that joggers use that straps to your hand and is deployed easily. The gel is more accurate and less likely to get you in a wind situation. It fits in the palm of your hand and straps around the back of your hand, so it's secured.

I'm the only female lineman in my area. I was out doing my job at night and had a guy follow me for 15 minutes. My partner had to pick me up, we chased him down got his license plate and I embarrassed him in front of his house. It's getting scary out here for women.

My elderly mother was slowly walking ahead of me from a Target store to our car parked far away from the entrance. The checkout line wait was too long for her to stand so she left ahead of me. As I was leaving the store, I saw a young guy standing in front of store watching my mom & start to follow her. I quickly got close behind him & jingled my keys just as he was a few feet behind her & he ran off like he was being shot at. I never told her she was being stalked like prey & I still regret 15 years later I didn't go back into Target to report this guy because he looked like he knew what he was doing & wasn't going stop.

Some lady grabbed my daughter and quickly buried her head in her shoulder and started walking off very quickly in the annapolis mall in maryland in 1999....it was really crowded and mom and I were looking directly as this lady who didn't even notice us , we watched in disbelief...I guess the white lady was about 40-45 years old....mom said ANGRILY ......!!!!!!!! EXCUSE ME !!!!!!!. The wench said ,,'oh is she yours ?'....MOM IS ONLY 105 LBS.. Mom grabbed Kyla who was 1 year old and the lady turned all kinds of pink and red and yellow....then she immediately left !!!! I was in disbelief , I only pray to GOD that this lady never stole anybody else's baby...I should have grabbed her and handed her to police becuz this lady was headed straight for the exit with Kyla in her arms......I sometimes talk to mom about it and she says we were both watching Kyla like 2 eagles and out of nowhere this happened .....I apologize to society for failing them in my prayers !!!

On Friday I was walking with both my kids, holding their hands when I noticed someone suspiciously waiting for us to pass by. I stopped and turned the opposite way. I briefly looked behind and noticed he was walking our way. There was a crowd of people so I walked behind them and the stranger and I made eye contact. When I noticed he wasn’t stopping I literally pulled my kids close to me and crossed the street. There was a group of people walking on that side of the street so I lingered until the stranger started to cross over. At that moment I called out to a man who was about to enter a restaurant and told him that someone was following us. He told me to stay with him and he guided us into the restaurant. The stranger didn’t look all there mentally. He was whispering but was, for some reason, fixated on getting to us. The man asked him if he needed something and when he didn’t respond he questioned why he was following us and scared him away. This nice man walked my kids and I to my moms house which was just across the street. I felt so vulnerable with one kid on each hand and afraid of him trying to take one of my kids. I don’t know who the man at the restaurant is but I am so grateful for him!!

A lot of times when people have break in they have been stalked a long time to see the habits of the inhabitants. If I were you I would not entertain door to door salesmen. Again be careful. Situational awareness. I taught my daughter when she moved to the city for school to be observant. Stay off your phone and keep an eye on your surroundings. You don't have to be paranoid, just aware and observant.
This is so important. More parents need to do this. I have always been a fan of crime shows so even at a young age I was very observant. This has saved me a few times. Especially if you're a half way descent looking young lady.

This happened to me six months ago, it was really violent like outside in broad daylight with people that could see what was happening. I even saw the dudes the day after because they lived next to me in a bad neighborhood. I never use my phone in public transports or even outside even if I don’t know the area, I just memorize where I should go.
My mom always told me to never use the phone in public transports, I stand by that and even scold my boyfriend a bit when he does it and if I feel like someone is a bit too suspicious (really slow hand reaching out is a common one)

A man tried to get in her car one day and she just lifted it up off the seat pointed it and said are you sure you want to get in my car? She didn't fire the gun but she scared him away that was the biggest reason for the gun in case a situation like that occurred When she walked her dog she kept it in her pocket and usually kept her hand in her pocket I don't know if she had a bad experience when she was younger but she knew how to stay safe as an adult always told me I was too trusting of people and shes probably right.

You say God can protect you better than your gun, those words alone are true because of who God is, but you do not read your scriptures enough to know that it would seem He wouldn't want us to just sit there and take anything that happens to us and be a victim, but to be vigilant, aware of our surroundings and even protect ourselves and protect others.
Look at how every time Israel went into battle, did they just sit there in the grassy field and God miraculously and mysteriously caused the enemy to drop dead.. no Israel had to show their faith that God was with them in battle and would give them the victory over their enemy by picking up their sword and going forward (to battle).

It's likely that rather than more crime actually taking place we're just able to see more of the existing crime.

Good on these ladies for having the guys to use their voice. I always tell people, men included, that if they can and are comfortable with them, learn how properly carry and use firearms. I’m glad I grew up in a hunting family. I started learning about gun safety when I was 4. I learned how to actually shoot when I was about 5 or 6. My uncle also taught me a lot about different martial arts techniques and how to defend myself whenever a gun wasn’t the safest idea. Always be aware of your surroundings. Attackers look for people that aren’t paying attention. All it takes is one split second for someone to sneak up on you. And before you know it you’re either way j the hospital or the grave.

This is happening to me in an entirely different state- a number of times. Several days ago, a man threatened to shoot me between the eyes, and kill my family because he " didn't like my vibe" as I was walking to my car with my dogs. I am a single woman and a mother. The next night someone parked to shine their high beams into my living room window at 3 am, where I sit and write. I stepped outside, and a crew from the car threatened me. I recorded them, and made a police report. ( Although that doesn't seem to do much these days). I also have a surveillance camera at my home, a dashcam in my car and I carry my cell phone when I walk my dogs... All in the last few years. I also have been threatened because of my handicapped tag on my car.

Lady's, please start carrying pepper gel. They make a brand that joggers use that straps to your hand and is deployed easily. The gel is more accurate and less likely to get you in a wind situation. It fits in the palm of your hand and straps around the back of your hand, so it's secured.

What if she spray the man and he starts randomly shooting at her and a baby watching cartoon eating fruity pebbles get hit? The government need to make harsher sentence for robber or attempted robbers for example automatic premeditated murder. Life in prison without the possibility of parole or lethal injection once convicted. The problem with this system that we live in isn't the bad people it's the government not will to execute who threatened others with bodily harm. The government would prefer to make money off of criminals than remove them from society permanently. There is no excuse for pulling a gun or a knife out on another individual that act should be an automatic death sentence once caught.
This is just one reason I've been carrying and going to the range to practice for the last three decades. No man is going to assult me and live.

I really can’t even go on a walk or to the store or anywhere just me and my baby , my husband has to be with us . It’s sad that’s the world we live in now , it’s sad that good people live in fear and can’t live a normal comfortable life bec criminals have all the rights.
It is good that you bring your husband with you and recognize the dangers.
Why not just bring a gun with you? God gave you the 2nd amendment for a reason. Your man has to work and provide for the family, not be around you like a dog on a leash. Learn to protect yourselves. Learn to rely on yourself and your gun.

Sparky is the real MVP! People always under estimate small dogs but he woke up the neighborhood when he yelled (barked) at the robber along with his owner.
I'm the only female lineman in my area. I was out doing my job at night and had a guy follow me for 15 minutes. My partner had to pick me up, we chased him down got his license plate and I embarrassed him in front of his house. It's getting scary out here for women.
