@@KateGrace2590 well they was just good friends of alot of ours in school . All around 2 good ppl that everyone thought that they ran off to be together but that wasn't the case. So many rumors of they ran away but we wished it wouldn't have ended this way.
you misheard, the interviewer was asking about the mistakes the sheriff before him made. this man was not part of the original investigation, he just got reopened the case.
I am glad that there is an answer, and also that there was no violence involved. They WERE together, as best friends...they should have lived much longer, but on the other hand, it seems to have been fairly instantaneous. If I were to choose, I would not want to know I was dying.
Poor father. As a relative of someone who just never came back home alive I feel his pain. May his daughter rest in peace and her family find some relief and move on.
The more I think about this the more I hurt for the families. I lost a child, so understand heartfelt, brought to my knees pain, but I can't imagine what kind of hell these families went through for 20 years. Not knowing where their child is, or if someone took them, or if they had an accident, ran off. And if they ran off to be together cared nothing for their worried parents to at least call to say they were alright. The families lived in a an unimaginable hell for a long, long time. I hope they read this one day so they'll know how deeply we've been touched. May God be with you all.
I imagine a lot of missing person cases could be solved by thoroughly examining ponds, lakes, creeks, etc with modern sonar technology. May these two young souls finally Rest In Peace.
Yup. Adventures With Purpose has done this often. We give police plenty of military grade weapons but they certainly don't train or equip enough diving teams. They're a great channel. Highly reccomend.
@Mike Studmuffin I can't give you the exact address , but what I can give you is ,,, Sparta , Tennessee then find Calfkiller River and Highway 84 right next to the river .
My sister disappeared when she was 16 and it shaped the dynamics of the family until she reappeared 7 years later. At least she was alive. I cannot imagine never finding her or finding her dead.
It is just silly to put heavy blame on this Sheriff. He came into office after the disappearance. New evidence surfaced that changed the outlook on where to look in the county. He already had aroused suspicions that the wrong areas were searched. Now what he did right was embrace free help to search those areas at no expense to his agency. He was grateful for the help and even pointed that free help to the very areas he had grown suspicious of. People forget that these departments run on a budget and must justify every expense. Not a great defense but still a fact. Kudos to this man for being open and accepting of help when offered. So many other people in charge consider the offer of help as an insult instead of what it really is. They are also ungrateful for the assistance they recieved when the case gets closed as well.
Not blaming this cop, but maybe his cousins nephew who was related to previous cop in charge. This was too easy to solve, people weren't looking. That implies foul play.
@@dr.lecter9795 questioning authority is not hate. It's American. Budgets are definitely not an excuse for a department to need UA-camrs to solve a case. Be grateful or trusting of a chief that excuses the lack of momentum that some cases like, say Gabby Petito, with "sh*t happens" ??

Sparta, TN is a real "good ole boy' town, only 4,902 people. Like most rural towns with populations smaller than that, the sheriff is basically your uncle/dad/friend to every family.
I'm glad the families are finally relieved from the anguish of not knowing. Here in my country it took 19 years to find a missing girl, her body was discovered in the church's attic by some men who were working there. The murderer was a boy who was always seen as a probable suspect, but evidently there were few evidence. In the meanwhile he moved abroad and killed another woman there. He's in prison for both crimes now.
My heart just broke for the young girls father. You could see the years of hurt on his face not knowing her whereabouts. Prayers to both of the families.

When my daughter got her first car I bought her one of those things to break a window in case something horrible like this ever were to happen I'd want her to be able to get out. This is really sad RIP Erin and Jeremy!
I think they both must have been unconscious most likely. My guess at least. The car was almost intact. You could open the windows or doors after the car was filled with water. I guess the impact knocked them both out and they will not have realized much of dying at all. Would be interesting if the airbag was open or not. Or if this model even had airbags. As it seems they didn’t suffer at least I hope so.
@Brandon McHenry thanks for your insights Sir. Yeah I can imagine this is always so easy to say but if not trained beforehand you panic and this kind of situation is so quickly over and that’s it then. For opening the doors you would have to wait until the car is full with water. Which also is very tense moment and you’d panic easily. Always easy said that to be done. I agree there with you. Just was thinking they somehow could have made it out of the car as it also was not really deep even there.
I had my first car accident a month ago crashing head on with a tree on a country back road I was definitely unconscious from the impact and lasted a good while alone and had zero strength not even a breathe of air in me but by the grace of god he helped me push my self out the car and laid on the snow until a car noticed me laying like a mannequin on the side of the road
This is why capitalism is good. A private enterprise with a kayak at work for a few days was more effective than local and state police were for decades. Government employees and institutions rarely impress.

All sheriffs should be like this man. @@charlesgerety1403 You're very uneducated in this topic and your comment is proof of that. How long would it have taken you to locate them without knowing exactly where to look? 20 years ago there also wasn't a large group with sonar ready equipment to scan every patch of water especially at no cost. Would you have flipped the bill? I think not.
@@charlesgerety1403 I agree with you. People keep making excuses for incompetent law enforcement personnel. They have been finally cars in lakes for decades. The car could have been found but no one thought to look in the right location. It took 20 years to hire a smart sheriff instead of someone dump cousin.
I doubt anyone will see this but there is a story about my great grandpa where an individual went missing near where he lived on a lake. So, he went to the closest location on the lake where she was last spotted (a bridge for an over crossing on the lake) and jumped off. He let his body go limp and let the current take him wherever it led, which was straight to the location of the missing person’s body tangled up in a bunch of sticks and moss. Best part of this was he did it all on a buzz. Legendary papaw.
It's so nice that the sheriff is a team player and appreciative of the help to find the car and missing people. This sheriff is a class act admitting stuff was missed
Exactly this. This sheriff's reaction was the polar opposite of another cold case one I saw solved where the mom was pissed after the fact because the sheriff at that location didn't do their jobs well and she literally knew the entire time where he was. She had asked the sheriff to investigate at this spot and they never found him. It didn't even take the cold case investigators an hour to find his truck in the river and the sheriff was just being a retard about it since he knew he had fucked up.
My 2nd cousin went missing in 2005 . Everybody in the community thought he was murdered, but just 2 years ago he was found in the local river. It was a car accident. 2 cars hit each other. My cousins car flipped and landed in water upside down. It was a bitter sweet moment knowing he wasn't murdered. But it was hard to hear that all that's left him was his teeth and a couple of feet bones
Why did it take that long? Where's the other car and people and weren't there evidence to show a car accident initially when it happened? That's a very long time to be missing from an accident especially with a another car involved
Hats off to the diver for volunteering his time and to the Newfound Sheriff, former officer for revisiting the case. It's truly unbelievable that they were found 20 years later. Even more unbelievable that no one thought to check the nearby Lakes along the roads they were traveling on. And that no one noticed the missing persons report stating they were closer to home

Very sad. Everyone should look up the videos that show you how to get out of a sinking car NOW! "Seatbelts, windows, out - children first. That means, get your seatbelts off, then get the windows open, then kids out - oldest first” He said even if the car's windows were electric, they would work for at least 10 to 60 seconds. Or smash them. Once the windows are open, help children or others who may need assistance, out of the vehicle. "Especially with children, push them out of the window ahead of you, then follow them," Dr Giesbrecht said. If there are multiple children, his advice is to go from oldest to youngest. While this may defy a parent's instinct to help the younger children first, Dr Giesbrecht said older children could then be instructed to climb out and hold on as the adult gets younger children out. I was a UK Police Officer for 30 years and I had to deliver many traumatic messages and they were always as traumatic to me as to the recipients. Some Officers are not affected but I think you have to be totally unfeeling not to become emotionally involved with the next of kin especially if it involved children. When I saw the Sheriffs response to the finding of these kids I immediately knew how he felt because just for once he was going to be able to give those folks answers they had been seeking for 21 years and closure at last. He said he cried, I know just how he felt, he is a good man.
A friend of mine took the initiative to stand by the side of police and firefighters in emergencies as the small town parson or vicar who he is. At first he met refusal, but by and by he got accepted and involved. He then got the proper, official safety training, protective clothing, helmet of a real firefighter and his electonic devices that alarm him. When a house is on fire he cares for the people who see their belongings and family memories go up in flames (not unlikely when farms catch fire and not even the cattle can be dragged out or their stables), and when there is an accident it is him who walks side by side with the police when it comes to ring at people's doors. They once had to wriggle the shotgun out of a farmer's hand who was going to blast his head off when he heard that he would never see his son again (motorcycle acident).
Yes, wondering for 20 years with out a bit of information would be so hard for the parents. You would always have that hope that they ran away but then it all comes to that end you worried about for so many years like a door slamming shut.

So sorry to hear that your brother was murdered. May he rest in peace and I'm praying your heart continues to heal and lots of blessings come your way.
A number of decades-old missing persons cases have been solved in recent years just by searching local bodies of water. It's a shame to think that families suffered for so many years wondering what happened to their loved ones (and perhaps didn't even live long enough to find out), while the answers were right under their noses all that time.
It's called a budget. Unfortunately police forces are granted a budget that's paid by citizens that they serve taxes and these are the first that communities want to cut. It always blows me away when people vote for these tax cuts and then they yell later "why didn't the police force do this or that.. instead of blaming theirvselves for cutting the budget.
The pain in this fathers eyes and voice is so heartbreaking. I’m so happy that they have the closure that they need and their loved ones are finally at rest. Sheriffs department kinda dropped the ball on this one. Thank you to your man who brought them home.
It’s a sheriff’s departments job to protect you from a thief, murder, rapist. Not from yourself, how can you blame the man for not finding them sooner? It was a single vehicle accident, gone without a trace, short of a crystal ball which isn’t btw on the sheriff’s annual budget.
That is an incredible find. Big respect to the diver and the sheriff for finding that lost destroyed car. But, I feel so sorry for the father, knowing he wanted to know what happened for so long.
Me to, I am glad that he has the guts to say that their human and they made mistakes but they can learn from it. They can also teach others to learn from this and for any law enforcement officer to say that, there's still some good in the police force. Many officers need to learn when they make mistakes to come clean and learn from it. We definitely need more cops like him!
You'd find a lot of these folks in small towns. They usually become increasingly political and/or corrupted as the cities they manage become bigger. Usually under the influence of a spineless district attorney and big-city folks who are long detached to their own communities.
@@katiedotson704 I mean 'closure' as to finally finding out what happened to them and discovering their bodies - that's all, nothing more than that. It is obvious what happened as it was a car accident and of course, nobody will know why it happened, but more than likely an error of judgement at the time, or an animal crossing the road etc - who knows. The fact that a lost loved one's body is discovered after many years is actually very helpful to most people who have lost them - we are all different and see things in our own ways. This is more like a point of closure as an event, rather than making anything any easier on those who have finally found their loved ones. The pain remains of course.
@@katiedotson704 trust, knowing your loved one has passed on is better than never knowing where they are, if they’re being hurt or abused, if they’re being held against their will, if they’re dead, etc. To spend every moment of your life for 20 years wondering what happened to your child, and why they never came home; is like living in Hell. Knowing they’ve passed on will still hurt, and there will always be a void; but you’ll know for certain where they are so your mind is not in a constant struggle.
@@katiedotson704 Because it finally provides complete assurance that these two kids are in fact, deceased. Without the actual bodies, a small fragment of your imagination cannot fully accept that they’re gone. The surrounding families can finally accept it, and begin to move on. Very true. I know for a fact. It's a horrible pain. Like being in a nightmare and you can't wake up. I pray for anyone that loses their child. Your heart will never be the same.😥😪😢😢😪😥
Yes there is, it's loosing a child and not knowing what happened to them, are they still alive are they dead, if they died how? Did they suffer? What if they were kidnapped or rapped or tortured? Waking up everyday waiting for them to come home, maybe just maybe they're still alive. Yes, there's worse! Even worse than what I mentioned! I’m always amazed at the number of people that simply drown in the cars. Don’t know the circumstances here or all the facts. But I recall a case in Texas when a mother and her two small children drove off a road into a lake during the winter and icy conditions. The road didn’t have guardrails until after the tragedy. Every time I drive this road I think of them. I can’t imagine what the mother felt and those babies. It angers me and makes me sad. I am thinking that the same conditions must have existed here -- no guard rails at the time -- for if there had been somebody would have noticed and looked there.
I saw a video of a recovery of a pregnant women and her young children. It was awful to know that people had been looking for them for so long and yet they never had a chance of finding them safe because they were gone forever less than an hour after they disappeared.

I drove past a man that was off the highway and out of sight for a few days while I lived in Texas and he died slowly of his injuries and I felt like if God would have given me a flat tire or something, I could have saved his life. Feelings of guilt and that eerie feeling are what I felt. I am glad they found these two, but I know the feelings are bitter sweet. I pray both families are at peace now… rejoice in the fact that Jesus was there that night NO MATTER WHAT our sweet Savior was there. Sending my love to all of you touched by this. God bless you all.
High resolution sonar with colored screens, side scan capability, GPS mapping, and paper graph printing option gear has been sold by Bass Pro Shops and Cabalas outdoors stores for over 20 years, they even have underwater cameras and auto pilot that will follow depth contour, past fishing paths, or steer your boat to any marked waypoint you want. It's not even that expensive anymore.
Everybody’s talking about the family but I honestly cannot stop thinking about Erin and Jeremy drowning, just looking at each other knowing they’d die together.
How did the car run off the road without damaging the guard rail? A damaged guard rail would have been an obvious indication that an accident had occurred.
There are several deep drop-offs in my town directly adjacent to roadways, and they're completely covered up in kudzu, so there's no telling how far down some of them go. One day a few years back a bicyclist was riding by one of those drop-offs and just happened to look down and catch a glint of sunlight reflecting off a tail light, just barely visible in the overgrowth at the bottom. Someone had driven their car over the embankment--and it had been sitting there long enough to be grown over with kudzu. When the authorities went to haul it out, they found that the car held two badly decomposed bodies. They turned out to be the bodies of a couple of college kids who had randomly disappeared in the mid-90's. You'd be surprized how easy it is to lose a car in that kind of vegetation. That car could have sat there for a hundred years and nobody would have known it was there if some random guy hadn't been passing by at just the right time of day to catch that little red glint.
Something similar happened in Charlotte years ago. There was a pretty popular missing person’s case that everyone was aware of. Several months later a bad car accident happened on the highway and a helicopter was flying over. They happened to spot a car upside down off the highway while filming and it turned out to be the missing person.
Yep. Kudzu grows over anything that doesn't move. I have a cousin who's brother in law went off the road somewhere in DeKalb County which is adjacent to White County here, and it took winter to hit for them to be able to see the car. I don't remember if it was the same year or a couple of years later. My cousin and an uncle drove that road looking for him and drove right past because the kudzu covered the area so heavily. There's an abandoned building in another part of the county that used to be the Center Hill Restaurant, overlooking Center Hill Lake. Kudzu is swallowing it up now. The weird thing is I'm also related to Jeremy Bechtel so I know of 2 people who just disappeared in that general area of middle Tennessee and the terrain kept them hid. I think a lot of people thought they were killed in a bad drug deal. I find it better to know they died in an auto accident. I wish Jeremy's mom had lived to get closure.
@@mitchcumstein9808 I think you would. There had to be a guard rail there in 2000. The river is right there. I don't think they went off the road at that point.

As a mother I can’t imagine the heartbreak of never knowing or the possibility that they could be alive somewhere . Thank god the families were able to finally have closure.
So amazing yet sad their bodies were finally found. A little bit of closure is better than no closure. RIP. This diver guy does amazing work. I wish he could find Maura Murray.
Wow, as a Retired Law enforcement Officer this hits hard. I feel for the families and am grateful that the case has finally been solved. Great Job to the Sheriff.
As a parent myself I couldn't imagine what these families went through. I showed my mother this and she told me she would much rather find out her child is gone then Wonder what happened for all those years. God bless the families and the man who found them
Are you seriously saying that the Mother would rather that her child have died, rather than her (the Mother) not knowing her daughter's whereabouts or fate?! That is absolutely self-serving idiocy. There is a wide spectrum of fates between 'known' and 'unknown', and many would be preferable to 'death.'
My brother committed suicide by jumping off a cliff. The tide took his body out to sea before he was discovered. So we spent over two weeks travelling all over the country trying to find him, until his body finally washed up to shore. Those two weeks were a nightmare; everybody barely slept, barely ate, couldn't stop stressing, couldn't stop travelling. Obviously discovering him was traumatic. But, I can't imagine, if he never came back to shore, what the rest of our lives would have been like. To spend 10 years without closure, I just can't imagine. It really is like limbo.
'Closure' is something anyone wants after any tragic event. I am glad both families have finally got it. Rest in peace and deepest condolences to both families.

Eleven years after a man had gone missing, leaving a note behind that he would end his life, the police in my hometown sent the divers down into the harbour to search for a gun that a suspect said to have flung in after a shooting. What they found was the car, the embossed numberplate still readable, covered in seashells and starfish, and a skeleton behind the wheel.
@@stonestacker5051 What do you mean, my comment? In that case "Thank you, very much." Well, I have got some "more above average" practice of English and I know how to use gerunds and the like, it was part of my daily job routine.
I am so glad these 2 kids were finally found and able to be buried by their loved ones. I will not blame the detectives of the original case because they had a lot of information coming in, a lot of leads, and ultimately a lot of stress and pressure to find these young kids. Guaranteed the original case workers beat themselves up so many times over the years trying to put the pieces together. Cold cases are being solved because fresh minds come in that haven't had the stress and pressure to close the case in the newness of it. It truly is a team effort in some cases. I am just so happy to see the teamwork being fully embraced. Solved is the goal. Clearly, the original case workers collected extensive data and did a great job with records so down the road when fresh eyes were on it, they could also track leads and develop theories. Lots of hard work over many years and it paid off. I could see the Detective's flood of emotions after getting absolute confirmation he was holding the proof in his hand. Praise God to everyone who helped over the years. May these two souls rest fully in peace now.
Very well said- in total agreement and understanding that most officers work hard, diligently and are caring ... cold cases are difficult but thankfully newer tech is helping solve several of them in last 5 years!
It's good to know you are 'so glad' hearing about this. In reality it's sad you're not concerned about the competence of the detectives 20 years ago. That's the problem with some detectives, they assume it's foul play and they run around like Crockett and Tubbs seeking out the mischievous activities that went down to cause two people to go missing. Ultimately they put this case on the back burner because they couldn't find out which one of their local mob bosses made these kids 'disappear' without putting much thought into the possibility cars don't float and maybe they're actually at the bottom of the creek along the route they were driving.
@@jayryan7473 or they did know which one of the locals did it and so they set on an area away from it without anyone at the party questioned obviously or they would of known they wasn't there. And the one piece of information showing a location at a certain time from a actual witness way overlooked? The person the took the statement didn't ever read it? Maybe there is more info I didn't see. But so far putting two and two together, this doesn't look good. Maybe allot of cases out there where evidence is not being looked at for a reason. Why not make all cold case evidence public after a period of time less than 20 years and this one would of been solved at that time. Lots of others are possibly the similar. Even if I'm wrong and this wasn't covered up for years, it would of been solved by uploading the evidence. Either by the person uploading it or by someone reviewing it online. And if it was intentionally overlooked and it didn't get uploaded, the person that wrote it would see it missing and tell it. Either way, it and others would be solved that are just sitting around. A year or two max and the info should be public. I understand for a short period of time some evidence can't be general knowledge. Stuff only one person may know. But if they haven't found that person in a year or two, it's time to make it public a maybe keep a killer from continuing to be so free to do so, or getting people found and cases solved for closure. There is steps that could be made standard that would prevent cover ups, accidental overlooking of things and helping to remove some of the temptation of covering something up by making it harder. If there is steps then they are not enough obviously. My idea here off the top of my mind would definitely help, I'm sure there is better ideas to add as steps additionally too.
That's mainly because as a police force they have laws and regulations and designated teams. A private man essentially doing this out of his free will does not have the same regulations as the police force. People really need to think about this stuff before they post stupid shit online
20 years ago this wasn't really an option, which is why it took so long. Technology today aids in the search of yesterday these days but back then it was a needle in 5000 haystacks.
It does make you age quicker with the worry & the not knowing, as a father of 3, I would've probably lost the will to live ! I'm glad he got some closure before he passes on ,poor kids never got to enjoy adulthood! 🙏
Seen a bunch of videos like this and what really stands out is the Sheriff in this one. His compassion and his level of personal involvement are very high. If more sheriff's were like him the world would be a better place, in other videos they treated the finds almost more like a nuisance and a waste of resources where as in this one he seemed genuinely so happy and thankful for the discovery! This man needs some credit for doing a great job!
I’ve seen videos about these types of situations and in a lot of them the sheriffs/local police get mad at the people searching for getting involved and it makes them look bad
As a father you would always hold on to the hope that she just ran away. It must be heartbreaking to finally, after, 20 Years know her fate. So sad for him and family.
You're wrong. The sheriffs is the reason they suffered for so long without knowing what happened to their kids. They should have done that work, not a youtuber
My friend was missing for five months after Katrina and then his body was found. This was hard enough, but I cannot fathom the agony of one of my children being missing. Knowing the awful truth is better than perpetually wondering.
The video that Jeremy did of it is really worth a watch, it was put up on his channel (Exploring with Nug) on 4th Dec 2021, and it's called "SOLVED 21 Year Old Missing Persons Case (Erin Foster & Jeremy Bechtel)" if you want to search for it (in case you need the assurance, you will never see a body in any of these videos, only the car). The moment he finds the car and dives down on it is really humbling. It's sitting there at peace 10 ft down, and the call to the Sheriff is on there as well, so great to see a police department that was just grateful for the help and to solve a case.
As a parent, it would be horrific not knowing where your child is for years and years......Prayers for the family's peace. Thank God for these heroic volunteers
I have watched this diver's UA-cam channel a number of times. He is a good man and just wants to help locate folks who have possibly gone missing in rivers and lakes. If these were my children, I would want to know what happened to them, even though this would be a very, very hard thing.

Their egos get in the way. They are probably pissed that they didn't solve the case. There was one I watched where the vehicle was found before they were hardly in the water. The sheriff was pissed at them. They said normally the other divers are nice, those ones wouldn't even respond to them saying hi. It was infuriating for me, I can't even imagine for AWP. The parents had begged the officers to search the water, they refused. It was very sad.
@@FluffballKitties Yes, i recall that episode iirc, Flagging away the parents concerns - that the section of the river did not need rechecking by Police divers/ searchers etc bc they had already done a 'sweep' at the time of the original search - then questioning that the vehicle AWP had found was even the correct vehicle and not just some other wreck that was dumped, and then after being shown the number plate telling the family 'the kid had probably taken off with some girl or had just runaway and wouldn't be in there' (unfortunately his body was ) and then finally the actual Police dive crew refusing to acknowledge or look at AWP - nor query them on the location/ position of the submerged vehicle etc as profession divers would automatically enquire about -- all completely disgusting all completely unprofessional , had the clear flavour of 'These jerks must think they are better than us bc they found the car/ body for the family instead of us - doesn't everyone know we're the heroes here, putting our lives in danger and on the line every time we get up ' ......

The messed up part is. She looked like a very good teen gal. But the Sheriff made out like she just went partying. For 20 years you know the family was super hard on her in their hearts because the Sheriff made it seem as if their daughter might have been doing something wrong. She'll never be able to defend herself against that.

That means, get your seatbelts off, then get the windows open, then kids out - oldest first”
He said even if the car's windows were electric, they would work for at least 10 to 60 seconds.

Especially if you have children.
Thank you for your service. 🌹 That's one of the reasons I decided to not apply to be a policewoman.
You shouldn't be a cop if you're affected by this kind of thing.
@@wills5482 Quite the opposite, only people who would be effected by such a thing should be officers.

@@katiedotson704 Because it finally provides complete assurance that these two kids are in fact, deceased. Rest in Paradise Erin & Jeremy. Technology has advanced so much. Amazing; how he was actually able to see the car all those feet down.
Our knowledge has advanced, but thanks to the Holy Dopamine Ghost via Placebo Faith people still cling to myths.
I know very sad they were so young 🥺🥺🥺
Doubt they had time to be looking at each other.
Me too
Those cars were heavy so likely sunk so quickly they cldnt get out. So tragic.
@@Wazupiseeyou Exactly!
But wouldn’t you noticed guard rails destroyed
@@mitchcumstein9808 I think you would. There had to be a guard rail there in 2000. The river is right there. I don't think they went off the road at that point.

@@kenc2257 That's not what was said.
@@kenc2257 No. She said she would want KNOW if her child was dead. Not that she would hope her child was dead.

Why is this so well-written? Nice work!

As a mother I just can't imagine. You can see the pain on the fathers face. RIP and prayers to the family.
Happy to know a family finally got closure! God bless! Big thank you and many blessings to you and the department!
Amazing that a private citizen could accomplish something that an entire police force couldn't.
The Sheriff , asked Jeremy Sides to search that river .
Most police don't actually care about doing their job they're just trying to get their paychecks and go home...
@Shhzbxb Huzhdjea They didn't have a little motor boat? Clearly people live there they could ask but oh well, not our kids right?
That's mainly because as a police force they have laws and regulations and designated teams. A private man essentially doing this out of his free will does not have the same regulations as the police force. People really need to think about this stuff before they post stupid shit online
20 years ago this wasn't really an option, which is why it took so long. Technology today aids in the search of yesterday these days but back then it was a needle in 5000 haystacks.

My friend was missing for five months after Katrina and then his body was found. This was hard enough, but I cannot fathom the agony of one of my children being missing. Knowing the awful truth is better than perpetually wondering.
The headline is wrong. The teens were not found, their remains were found.
Holy crap I ALWAYS wondered what happened in this case - wow crazy, super glad they were atleast found and the parents got answers.

Even with the families closure, there is a possibility there was still a little spark of "What on earth were you doing" inside the families mind about her. The Sheriff essentially wrote her off from the beginning and never made any of it right.
