I just put myself in your shoes. I’m huge on customer service. If a company can’t provide me good service then I can’t provide any more of my money. Simple as that. Hate you went through that man
I love when dummies like you try and talk shit about stuff they know nothing about smh lmao 🤣😂😅 I had more systems in 2020 alone then your broke ass had your whole life next
deairreo hill I did one time when had two 1900 watts power acoustic 12's. but I forced it into the opening of the box. too hard. I broke the sub basket. on a 2000 watt amp those things hit hard. now I'm doing 4 10's in my Dodge ram, either under bench ,or a cut out in cab and bed, with welded diamond plating subframe welded into the cab.
Had 4 Rockford Fosgate 15s in my Dodge Magnum. 2 of the magnets literally fell off. But they stepped up and replaced all 4 with newer models. Didnt even pay shipping! Great customer service. Skar should pay attention to customers, especially those with a UA-cam channel.
Good for you but still doesn't change the fact that they ripped me off the subs shouldn't have broken and I'll never buy from them again and I have moved on to bigger better companies that do business right like resilient sounds and my subs aren't breaking
Just seeing this, I heard skar, owned skar, they're good for what they are. Being a large company in the car audio world though, I would definitely stand by the product, offer a 30 day money back guarantee, and limited lifetime warranty that replaces any factory fault or malfunction. That's just my opinion though
he said he had the sub for almost a year then said he only been running it for about 3 months. i'm confused lol btw i had a ddx 10 in a ported box and ran that shit heavy for over 6 months and never had any issues. took it on a 4 hour drive from pa to new york 2 times also, blasting music the whole ride. i even blasted it up high with the gain past clipping (cuz i was still a noob to car audio when i first got it and didnt know any better) and STILL didnt break it lol i dont know what you did to break that sub but thats crazy.
@@countryboisavage I've had a sub for like a year and a half.... It's still in the box sealed up. I've never had a basket break. All of my speakers have been steel, some run inverted like yours.
@@countryboisavage it does sound and look like you got bad casting in the baskets on the subs and you got a bad customer representative as well cuz that should be covered by the warranty because of the failed basket
Between this video and researching on car audio forums, I made a decision not to purchase Skar. I understand that for the price they perform well. But with so many people having had issues with this company, it just isn’t worth the risk. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
@@curtismoff Because you didn't have it hooked up right. My boy is running 2 evl 12s on a sundown 3500 watt amp. Its slamming over 150dbs out of the trunk no wall
I see this is an old video but felt I needed to chuck my 2 cents in 😂. As someone who was in the car audio business, there are certain things you cover, certain things you don’t, and then an exception you make on a case by case basis. Burnt voice coils (blown subs) and crushed voice coils (bottoming out) are almost always from too much power. Bottoming out I always felt a sub should be designed so it can never exceed its mechanical limits for that to happen. If I saw a certain sub doing that a lot, id drop carrying them! In these cases 98% or more are not warrantied but if it was a repeat solid customer I’d make an exception, one time of course. Soft parts becoming unglued are 100% not the customers fault! That is definitely a manufacturing defect. Now a frame cracking it depends. Someone can get rear ended and it can happen. If nowhere on the sub did it have an signs of impact, it can be either a casting flaw or something that happened during the shipping. If I saw no impact marks at all on the sub I would of replaced it. I then would of looked at the spot it cracked to see if it had any flaws. One thing that seems to have died these days is customer service. If they replaced those subs which most likely cost them $50 each at most, just imagine how many customers you can gain from one that is over the top happy with how you treated them!
I agree 💯 percent and that's why skarbage audio will never see another penny from me and my customers again realistically speaking they've probably missed out on at least $20,000 from me and my people alone just because this incident so far maybe even more cuz I've spent probably $15, 000 on audio equipment myself since then
@@countryboisavage I’m not sure it would be the right decision to justify all of their products as junk just because you had one issue with this sub. For example, the skv2 series amps are very good and have pretty much the same internals as many sundown and dc amps. They are all Korean amps. I also owned a pair of evl-15s for 2 years never had a problem with them. There’s always going to be a bad apple, especially when your shit is being made in China (not the skv2 amps). There are quality control issues and I think you should give them another chance.
Any company with bad customer service is a junk company and I've had other issues with Skarbage like you said it's all cheap Chinese bs I'm good now I'm running Brazilian subs and amps
@@countryboisavage I was just justifying the skv2 line as being legit. Those amps are the same as many sundown and dc lineups literally exact same internals and design. The skar skv2 amps are very good. I don't doubt that their subs are junk, but look at the price. For what you're getting, their subs are a pretty good deal. If you're an audiophile you're not going to buy things like that and expect very much out of them. Their top tier subwoofers are like 300$ max, you get what you pay for.
I agree to disagree to me with my experiences skarbage is junk period fagdown audio is worse junk because it's the same at a higher price and DC I never bought because it seemed to be the same as fagdown and skarbage which I've had both
I’ve also had trouble with warranty issues from my skar subs. They lasted 2 months then glue started coming off the spider. Skar was making it so difficult to warranty that it was a waste of time so that’s why I don’t use them anymore.
As someone who loves about 15 min away from skar and has gone to there wherehouse multiple times they defintly arent a huge conpany (I'm not on there side but they are not a huge conpany by any means like pioneer or kenwood)
It might be worth it to get a straight edge, and see if the mounting flange is flat, and check the flatness of the baffle. The problem I'm seeing, is that these might have cast baskets, which have been polished. Where it broke, it looks like it's thin enough, that the brittle casting just broke. I'm surprised, you didn't crack the casting just as you were tightening the mounting screws. They either need to make the spokes thicker, or, the casting metal needs to be formulated, to allow some elasticity. No baffle is perfect, but I'm willing to bet that the baffle is more flat than the mounting flange on the basket. It didn't have enough flexibility to be flattened out against the baffle, without preloading it to the point, that flexure from the vibration of playback, and, or, the road rumble from driving the car was enough to find the weak points. If the flanges of the drivers are not flat, I would consider that a defect in materials and workmanship. Don't even get me started on the surround losing its bond with the basket: I would come "unglued"!!!
The issue I see with inverting SOME subwoofers is the gasket. The gasket is mostly thin on the back side and thicker on the top side. The thicker side has more material that can compress and can cause flexing issues. I tend to not invert and use bolts with tnuts. This is just my opinion and what I saw in car audio installs in the past 20 years.
You're not telling us what you did to break the sub.. I've had sdr's, evl's, ddx's & I've put 400-500 watts extra on each model & NEVER had a problem.. we're talking 1200 watts to 8000 watts.. you seem to have an issue, look at your setup.. lol, nice video bud
SMH that's the point I didn't do anything to break them don't matter I been over skarbage moved to way bigger better brands this video is like 2 cars and 8 builds ago
I'd be like sorry sir will get a new sub out to you just send the old one back so we can give it to our R and D team and find out whats up so this dosnt happen again
Most people invert them like that for airspace or to keep the voice coils cool I inverted them because the baskets are broke and the weight of the motor is pushing down instead of hanging
@@countryboisavage the only other issue is the lip that is on the front side of the mounting surface. Bolts/screws sit to the inside and if inverted will unevenly apply pressure compared to non inverted where the flush surface meets the baffle. The bigger the sub...more chance this happens. This can be solved by routing the baffle accordingly so the lip has a cavity to sit in an pressure is applied evenly while inverted. Some sub baskets will fail quicker than others....still it's a bad idea without planning. If you did this as well, then the sub should have no issues. I've seen this happen to several tip name brands. Hope this helps.
Now all my highs n mids are all Skar audio's top of the line series and was real real close to placing an order for the mild system in my lexus that was going to be either 3 12s 2 15s or a single 18 then I looked at the specs a RS gold series has almost 30mm of xmax each way linear a sub from skar for same exact price has 18.5 not until u get up to about 600 a sub do they even have a sub that has that much excursion even RS team line with out my discount they are like 699 maybe 799 any other company's tram line like dc is like @2-1400 for 1 sub hell a 269 dollar Resilient Sound gold series has 12mm more xmax than a 500 dollar dc level 4 and still more than a level 5 thats about 700 for that I can get a 140 pound RS TEAM 18 that's built like a tank.i forget exactly but it has i believe 8 or 9 total spiders.and is rated at 5 k rms but was tested at 7,500 with not 1 problem
I sent back a Skar economy 18” and they replaced it immediately. Went to the mid grade 18” and it works perfectly. I’m not recommending Skar but my experience is they replaced and upgraded the sub no questions asked. It was within the 30 day period
What rms watt rating were u running to your sub. How many ohms was your resistance? And did you have a crossover to protect yor speaker from sound frequencies it couldnt handle? And was it a duel or single voil running in in parallel or series connects?
Unfortunately there’s so many factors in this equation. Mounting flushness and screw angle, how they were handled during the shipping, as if they were dropped or slammed causing a hair line fracture uncaught by the human eye before install and use. You even have the metal itself- sometimes the people who manufacture the actual basket sometimes get in a pinch and make do with using recycled materials to add to a mix to accommodate their short coming on that product. It sucks that this happened, but u have to take it with a small grain of salt too. But I agree, I think skar makes enough money that in some cases they should go the extra mile to make sure their customers are 💯 percent satisfied. That’s how to keep returning customers and that person to continue to promote others to buy and use their product also. It’s a shitty situation and tough call. But sometimes some one has to end up with the 1 outta thousands of products that have flaws in emm.
@Handlethatineedtouse first off customer service is everything and second quality they lack in both with their cheap Chinese bs and cocky attitudes it's other cheap brands with better quality and price and customer service
And i been eyeballing their subs. It didnt come loose from the baffle? They had bad customer service before real bad a few years back.... I dont know what sub i want/need a 15 w at least 400w rms 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm, SQ oriented for sealed..any suggestions?
I had the 18" evl for years and it preformed great so now since i went from a tahoe to a bmw i'm running 2 10" DDX D2 and so far they're doing the job!
How did they know you didn't drop it? Plus you inverted them did you switch the phase to 180? Instead of asking for a warrent y did you provide a compromise? I had a issue with a DD 15 started making cone noises truned out it was a bad dust cap and filter came apart. That was due to me over excursion the sub. I offered DD free shipping on the new sub they fix it for free. And ship it back for free. That's why alittle compermise can go along way
@@bassballer16 You DO change the phase setting, or reverse the polarity on the speaker terminals with inverted mounted to maintain the same phase acoustically.
I might be wrong, but I've been in the game since 94. In the late 90s, Audiobahn was born....I worked for the Cats who owned the company. I was their install manager. EVERY Audiobahn sub we sold came back blown, through no fault of our installers or the customer. They went under, and resurfaced as Skar. New face, new name, SAME TRASH!. If you haven't, please consider upgrading your subs to Kicker, Crossfire, Fosgate, Cerwin Vega...... anything but Skar.
Every time I called skar they've answered questions . Sundown Audio is the problem for me I can never get ahold of anyone that could answer any questions there.. I own both amp woofers X Series 15 anyways I go through down4sound now. There an authorized dealer and he will always answer any questions and if you have a problem he will replace the merchandise as long as it's a warranty or manufacturer defect.
I was thinking about going with Skar. It only took a minute to research the company and how they've done business, to decide I didn't want to support that company.
@@countryboisavage I dont personally think Skar is that good anymore. Their baskets are thin and after seeing a tour of their shop, it doesnt seem like the people there are even into car audio. I'd put Skar a couple clicks above Rockville. Even after everything the owner of Skar had done, Jacob (Sundown) still helped him out with designing a sub.
Good luck bro I don't fuck with skar or sundown hell I had a sundown amp in my old suburban bout burned to truck down and everybody I know with sundown that really run there systems always having some type of issues but thanks for watching please stay tuned into my channel and watch more videos
DrunkenBass I keep hear people say that, but vizio uses the same screens for their TVs as LG. So you’re saying vizio TVs are just as good? In the X-8 v3, they have a different cone, different coil system, different magnet, different spider and a different lip.
@@1youngkash Well I guess if you want to compare a tv to a subwoofer that works lol. I've known many people with ddx's with no problems. I'm not saying sundown isn't bad but they use the same basket. Even the sa uses a similar basket.
Probably putting strain on the basket since it's inverted and it is also screwed in with the rubber part which I can see if not flat so it probably put to much strain on the basket so it snapped
MEMPHIS M3 MOJO (OLD SCHOOL ORANGE YELLOW AND BLUE MS ON THE FRONT) WITH A OLD SCHOOL 4K MOJO AMP HANDS DOWN SOME OF THE ABSOLUTE BEST CAR AUDIO EVER MADE CHANGING MY MIND WOULD BE LIKE WIPING BEFORE YOU SHIT IT MAKES NO SENSE
You know we talked on here about the baffle, about improper mounting, poor casting etc but I watch a vid a guy did where he got a dual EVL 12 preloaded box and one of the subs basket was broke due to poor handle during shipping. Its also possible yours may have been cracked during transit but it took a few months for it to actually sheer off. Maybe?
rec aluminum is stiffer that stamped steel. A stamped steel basket would have warped and you would he experiencing coil rub. That is why aluminum baskets are found on most higher end subs. You are being overly salty to the point were you are rejecting all logic
@@countryboisavage and if it was machined steel....you would not he able to afford the thing in the first place. I work in a machine shop I know the difference in machining aluminum vs steel.
You're an idiot that should pay more attention or stay off my videos I don't need nor want your 2cents it's worthless to me you're so dumb you don't understand what's going on but trying to teach something that I've know since I was 14 and has nothing to do with the point of this video
I would have noted that that model basket was a no go. And that it needs to be discontinued and replaced with a better one. After happily replacing yours and giving you an extra one for the troubles
If they were as smart as you their business would be doing alot better just like you said they will always make sells but they could make sales and keep repeated customers by good service
Sundown had the 4 spokes on the sa series and moved on from it to what they have now with the u series. 4 spokes arent the most solid option for a basket.
With this professional set-up, how could this possibly happen? Judging by the mismatched colored wires spanning between your subs must be for effect. Definitely show quality. Couldn't be anything wrong you did during this top-notch install. 3 months and they are that dusty? You want my honest opinion? You dropped it before they were installed in the box. Not to mention no bracing inside the box to prevent baffle flex. Not to mention if you paid someone to do this hack job of an install, you got ripped off. I have 2 sa15s that use the same exact basket as these. Not nearly as much dust as are on these. And they are 4 years old. Quit breaking shot and expecting free handouts. Your subs look like they are about 5 years old. You broke the 5 year old sub that was out of warranty. You bought a new one hoping they would replace the one you broke hoping they would not notice the date of manufacture. Trying to scam. That's all this video shows.
Yea because wire breaks baskets lol all you can see from this is skar some bs and I don't give a fuk about wire color nor a temp setup that I'm not keeping nor getting paid to do lol skarbage
@@countryboisavage Well said bro thanks for all the info! I actually know you ain't lying IT HAPPENS folks need their heads checked mouthing your wiring dropping it and looks of the setup honestly they be looking for reasons to complain!
Do you have your subs surface mounted? I'm wondering if the magnet side of the mounting flange is more flat than the front of the flange. I'm willing to bet that there is a problem with the flatness of either the front mounting flange of the woofer, or, the baffle. With the drivers facing down, rather than sideways, there is no cantilever from the weight of the magnet, to break the spokes, if the car hits a bump. If there is an issue with flatness, it almost seems that the basket spoke would have broken as it was being tightened to the baffle. the biggest problem is, that it's a powerful subwoofer. The basket should be cast from a metal that's flexible enough to withstand vibration from either flexure in the baffle during playback, or, bouncing down the road in a car. These might be more suitable as a home Hi Fi speaker, than an automotive speaker: They're just too fragile for that environment.
Hazletonsound has a valid point about the mounting. If the speaker is torquing inward with screws, that would cause flex in the frame and with some vibration eventually will give out. I’ve seen metal frames snap that way and come to find out the cutout was uneven. We are all learning from this video. Thanks for posting it
Check out American bass if they don’t replace for you imo. I’ve been running a couple XFL 12s on a dc audio 3.5k and they bang for real. Much more stout baskets too. Sorry about your luck!!
Everyone has their issues once in a while. Of course Skar has had this issue several times. Hell, my new pricey sub looks use from Sundown and I have to figure out what's going on. We work hard for our money
I love Skar Audio! ANOTHER BIG THANKS TO Jordan Alexander over at Skar for profiling my order.. Costumer service is great I made a purchased over 2k, Never received form FedEx. I had to file a claim with FedEx and they denied my claim. thinking I was out of 2k, Skar contacted me by Email and phone letting me know they were going to take care of me.. A week later I received my my order by UPS. Since then I purchased more Skar Audio...Hate to hear you had an bad experience with them..However, I know you don't and shouldn't have to go thru fixing something 3 months old, JB Weld is your solution.
I have had a lot of Skar audio from amps, components and subs in the past 7 or so years and have never had any of it fail or give me any issues whatsoever. With that being said- i cannot vouch for the company's customer service. But, I understand your frustration and would be let down as a loyal customer if this happened to me and I would probably not spend my money with them in the future.. Where did you buy the subwoofers from? Because I am pretty sure there is a 1 year manufactures warranty on products for this type of failure and I just don't understand why this would even be questioned. shit like that doesn't just break. However, if you bought them from amazon or ebay or anything like that 9 times out of 10 companies will not honor that... But on some real shit - I aint ever seen some shit like this lol how the hell they just broke???
Yea it's all good they still play fine and I bought through Amazon from skar honestly like I said in the beginning I'm not bashing skar I think they make some good and the subs could have just been a few bad castings hell they make millions of them I'm sure there not all perfect I just think the customer service is some bs
You mounted it improperly. You mounted it unevenly and torqued the screws down on the basket on an uneven surface thereby putting a lot of uneven pressure on the "spokes". Skar is right, you are wrong.
Bullshit! Never blame a customer unless there's blatant evidence of misuse, which there isn't here. Idk if I'll ever buy from Skar. Resilience would definitely warranty that shit.
At one point in life i had 4 rockford fosgate p1 12 all fail. I contacted fosgate they said can u send us the recipe. I said up from amazon sent. Then they said can u de cone then and send inside pics of serial # i said yup done sent. They said you address. I said no problom sent. Then the rep said ok got four fosgate p1 12 in the mail have a nice day
I thought Skar was like the Ryobi power tools of car audio as in very high quality for the cheap price but I learned that it’s more like the harbor freight tools of car audio after watching this vlog. I’m glad I’m going with a Fi Neo 3.5 12 inch with standard suspension which is one of the best sound quality subs money could buy.
If this goes viral they will wish they replaced it I have those vd10 good subs for 69$ same basket now I'm putting 15 in and skar ain't gonna cut it I'm looking at power bass and audio pipe a better deal for the money that is definitely a casting flaw in my opinion you built allot of boxs and no one else shit came apart skar been killing it on the sales cant believe that they ain't taking care of you Rob now I'm not considering skar no more
Thanks bro I definitely agree with all that hope it does go viral that way it will make a difference and they can't just sweep it under the rug I hate when rich people treat you any kinda way
For real!!! I was going to go skar with subs and amp to match it up for my lady car. Not anymore. To much bad with customer service. I even was going to go with some subs with my CT amp. Nope went massive audio and glad I did. For a company to make sales/money they should take care of all customer. In business the customer is always right unless personally proven, but even yet will still be right. I had issues with my sq hds3 12 and customer service asked what I was running and after they where happy with what I was doing because it was right so they said keep the one you bought don't worry to send it back and sent me two! There not trash a have 4 15 skar comp subs runing 15000 watts for a year and all my soeakers and tweaters and horns is skar so this guy just got bad luck
Never is a redundant word. It shouldn't be used because it implies that the basket is absolutely indestructible. Also saying it is really silly because the fact that the basket broken disproves your comment entirely. Clearly a majority of people don't understand production. When you mass produced a particular item. I can guarantee that not every single unit will be perfect. Defects happen, if they didn't the word wouldn't exist. Let's just say the usual quality control guy who is really passionate about his job is sick for a couple of days. Now, let's say the guy that fills in is only there for a paycheck and doesn't really care about his job. You could have a lot of product shipped those couple of days that shouldn't even leave the door. Point is, you can't condemn a company for something that you see happen one time when you clearly don't know the facts
You probably had too much baffle flex. I’ve had the same 4 DDX 12s on a MD8K with a triple baffle 13cube box and they still taking it after 3 years.🤷🏻♂️ just my 2¢
@@countryboisavage do you have dowels on the inside of the box going from wall to wall on each axis at least? That would stop most of the flex from the box
Doing what I do for a living I have a theory on why the basket broke at 6:06 if you compare the depth of the screw next to where the basket is broke to a screw were the basket isnt broke its possible with the way the sub is mounted that the uneven torque of the screw put added stress on the cast basket causing it to crack. I'm not saying their mounted wrong. Just saying working with bolts and cast parts every day all day you see things and learn things.
Go get some JB weld.If you clean the edges up good and it should hold. But I agree with you. That is BAD customer service! And it has a 1 year warranty.I would raise hell. I would ask to talk to a supervisor!
Realdude rec It’s funny that right after I saw your video they had a short clip on the news about the owner of Skar.He is a 20 year old college student. That is probably part of the issue.
Thanks for the review. Skar has been screwing customers for awhile. It's sad because they're one of the better budget brands. I was gonna get these same subs in the 12" models. But saw several reviews about how Skar's customer service was an absolute nightmare. So I saved a little longer and got Sundown instead. I've been abusing them for 3 years. Clipping the fuck out of them. And I know my baffle is shaking lol. Still work like new.
All of Skars stuff is built by China Future Sound the owner of that company also owned Audio Legion. AL had some great products at great prices until Loser owner of Skar started acting like an idiot and threatened to take his 40 million contract with CFS elsewhere. That's why AL folded.

I live in Maine he's in Vegas n I received the parts in about a week from the email... Now that's service... Sound distributors is the place highly recommend...
Basket is easy to tweak if not mounted properly, solid double baffle, evenly tighten all the way around the flange. Surround not rubbing playing into the box. Over excursion ? We using our sub sonic feature on the amp.... beatin down the block knocking pictures off the wall? Proper enclosure for that model sub......blah blah blah. I fucks wit scar and so does my crew. Very abusive wit them shits too! Shouldnt bash scar until youve checked an made sure its not user error and be honest with yourself. Not much equipment available the can survive a botched build or install.
The only thing that could have broken the baskets would be a problem with flatness. Either the speaker flange, the gasket, or baffle is not perfectly flat, and was flexed into compliance when it was tightened down. The curious thing, is why it didn't break right when it was installed, rather than several months later. Being mounted face down, rather than on the side, takes the cantilever of the weight of the magnet off the basket. That greatly reduces the likelihood of the spoke breaking as a result of driving over a pot hole. Too few spokes, too thin. There's no way wiring, cone excursion, or acoustic pressure should ever break a basket. His baffle is reinforced, to ensure flexure of the baffle itself could never be severe enough to break the spoke.
Fuk skar and whom ever has a problem with it none of the bs you just said applies to me and nor is going to change the fact that the subs were under warranty and shouldn't have broke so easy you can look at a video and guess what you think you see wrong but at the end of the day I know for a fact everything was done right and skar dropped the ball on this one thank for watching
Never been drawn into skar, never seen the appeal and now with seeing this... will never ever consider the brand. I’m working towards getting me some sundowns
One of three things had to.be the cause of this. First being being the box wasnt probably braced and the top baffle was moving with frequency being played at such a point were it found a weak link and snapped. This is how the company would view it. Second would be as you stated that maybe there was fault with the casting. It might have not cured the metal/aluminum right do to many reasons from out side humidity to a contaminated casting. There is a third now. Wich I have seen twice. While screwing the sub inverted, the fastener actually put to much strain on the aluminum frame. Causing micro fractures that do to the bass split the speaker. This is not as unlikely as one would think. I've done it to a TA frame.
In my case and the other case I seen it split from screw hole to screw hole. But it is possible for it to split in the spoke. Take the sub out and sand the paint off you will know then if you can cross the over tightened fastener off the cause
I just put myself in your shoes. I’m huge on customer service. If a company can’t provide me good service then I can’t provide any more of my money. Simple as that. Hate you went through that man

I've heard several people comment on how their customer service being top notch and on scratch and dent/refurbished items at that.
Now that's good customers service from a company that cares about their customers
Because fosgate is top notch 💪
They definitely are great as a company
I blown mine a few times with t 1 and they replaced every time. No questions asked
Good for you but still doesn't change the fact that they ripped me off the subs shouldn't have broken and I'll never buy from them again and I have moved on to bigger better companies that do business right like resilient sounds and my subs aren't breaking
Lmao. Your title and the first words out of your mouth are very contradictory
Sure
I agree with you sir, “ a couple thousand dollars” IS A LOT OF MONEY! Yes sir it absolutely is......
Thanks man
back in the 90’s that was the beginning with JL and Rockford raping our pockets
Not in my Neighborhood ….
He's got 200 dollar subs wondering why they broke, 😂
Lmao
The improper mounting is what caused this.
Tha k you at least one person can actually notice what caused the issue-!
How is that improper
Tau M'howell its a little much to type just kinda common sense tho, dc audio made a really good video explaining it. go lookit up
@@billycarter66 where can I find that video?
Exactly
Just seeing this, I heard skar, owned skar, they're good for what they are. Being a large company in the car audio world though, I would definitely stand by the product, offer a 30 day money back guarantee, and limited lifetime warranty that replaces any factory fault or malfunction. That's just my opinion though
Real bad customers services
Y’all stop telling this man to just fix it.
You have a right to be pissed.

Oh I would be PISSED no pass on that at all.
All else try to fix it if your stuck with no replacement.
Skar should definitely replace it!
If they won't replace it then yeah imma tell him to fix it instead of crying over spoiled milk
Go and get a tube of steel Stik for 6.99 and in 2 hours you're good to go.
Realdude, Not sure if this helps, but I used J.B. weld on A LOT of things including speaker baskets... the stuff is awesome.
I've done it to a couple subs ,works perfectly fine
My dad used in weld on his old pioneer imp subs that are 20+ years old
Aluminum jb weld the tube is white and I believe it's also waterproof...The white tube of jb weld good as new used it a lot of times for baskets
Definitely not worth the time or money just to keep trash going
Just buy new ones from skar and re send the old ones and ask for re fund
Hmm good idea. But do they not have their own individual serial numbers on them? Would that work?
You're right and no it wouldn't work
Lol I been got rid of them and I will never spend anymore money with skar
he said he had the sub for almost a year then said he only been running it for about 3 months. i'm confused lol btw i had a ddx 10 in a ported box and ran that shit heavy for over 6 months and never had any issues. took it on a 4 hour drive from pa to new york 2 times also, blasting music the whole ride. i even blasted it up high with the gain past clipping (cuz i was still a noob to car audio when i first got it and didnt know any better) and STILL didnt break it lol i dont know what you did to break that sub but thats crazy.
I said I had the subs longer than a year at the time of recording the video the subs broke in less than 3mos I just had forgot to post a video
I see the the flaw In the spoke design. It's thin and a short spoke. Dang
Yea the spoke thins out tiny at the lip. They should have made the spoke thicker.
Between this video and researching on car audio forums, I made a decision not to purchase Skar. I understand that for the price they perform well. But with so many people having had issues with this company, it just isn’t worth the risk.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Yea I agree they have some ok stuff for the money but a company is only as good as their customer service if it's trash they're trash
The EVL 12 is very durable and great for the price
Personally I think it's all junk but if it makes you happy that's all that matters
They sound great right up till the time they blow up Twice I had evil 12 on 800 watt skar amp smoke and stop working after a month of use
Skar be on some bs
@@countryboisavage kicker too on bs

As someone who loves about 15 min away from skar and has gone to there wherehouse multiple times they defintly arent a huge conpany (I'm not on there side but they are not a huge conpany by any means like pioneer or kenwood)
Lol pioneer is sold ar walmarts lol... some shit
Trash company period
You're not telling us what you did to break the sub.. I've had sdr's, evl's, ddx's & I've put 400-500 watts extra on each model & NEVER had a problem.. we're talking 1200 watts to 8000 watts.. you seem to have an issue, look at your setup.. lol, nice video bud

For real... Wtf

Does it suppose to point down? Just asking not sure if it makes a difference.
Most people invert them like that for airspace or to keep the voice coils cool I inverted them because the baskets are broke and the weight of the motor is pushing down instead of hanging
Orion. The xtr pro is a great sub to replace that one. I beat the hell out of my 4 xtr pro 12s for 3 YEARS. No problems.
Those aren't bad I ran some before gottem too hot and smoked them totally my fault lol
Orion are so Chinese they come with a side of fried rice with every purchase. Lol jk there all right.
xtr pros hit hard but they are very inaccurate and move slow so they suck for rock music.
Was the baffle braced properly? Any subs inverted are subject to this.
Yes double baffled with 2x4 supports inside had zero flex
Did you switch the phase on the amp to play the subs inverted?

I'm glad you had a better experience with them than I did but honestly they're still a shitty company selling garage
CA glue can fix that :/ I rebuild my EVL's with TI frames 15's under $150
What rms watt rating were u running to your sub. How many ohms was your resistance? And did you have a crossover to protect yor speaker from sound frequencies it couldnt handle? And was it a duel or single voil running in in parallel or series connects?
None of that bs you just said broke the fuckin baskets the shit was just junk period no excuses

I might be wrong, but I've been in the game since 94. In the late 90s, Audiobahn was born....I worked for the Cats who owned the company. I was their install manager. EVERY Audiobahn sub we sold came back blown, through no fault of our installers or the customer.

@@dustinburrow5904 so true I ignore them most the time
Do you have your subs surface mounted?
@@countryboisavage 3 months as a temporary setup? Are you being serious? You have a tightrope spanned between subs. Hack job. 👍👍👍

I had issues with my sq hds3 12 and customer service asked what I was running and after they where happy with what I was doing because it was right so they said keep the one you bought don't worry to send it back and sent me two! To go ahead and replace both! That was bad ass! Skar should be they same way meeting in the middle at the least or 100 percent take care of you at the most!
@@mumbols lol i have been pushing two skar ddx 10s on a brutis 3000 for years and mine have worked flawlessly. they probably have a customer service problem but if you take care of your equipment they will last an eternity.
But are the amps any good
No they burn up 💯 true facts
@@countryboisavage ugh any recommendations for me. I'm running 2 kicker cvx 15s but need a new amp
Taramps it's the best thing out for the money
@@countryboisavage appreciate the response bro I'll check them out
No problem I've bought and tried lots of equipment over the years so anytime I can save people the trouble and stress of getting bs I try
Judt spot weld it back and be done wth it and dont buy nomore skar
Its hard as he'll to weld pot metal wich is prolly what those baskets are made of
@@jameslewis974 its farely easy even ghetto spot welding with batteries and jumper cables just get aluminum rods hook up ur batteries in series to 36 or 48 volts ground it and ground ur jumper cables use some thick industrial gloves grab ur aluminum rod and tap the area u need welded bam u just fixed ur sub basket for less than 10 bucks
Or more depending if u got batteries and jumper cables lol
@@PetterNick actually being a welder you want about 24 volts and more amperage not voltage and pot metal is mostly magnesium its easier to braze and welding aluminium you need a shielding gas and very low heat with a piece of brass right behind where your welding if there are any gaps but def need a shielding gas like pure argon or a 90-10 co2 mix
@@PetterNick like your idea but alum melts very easyusing that much amperage on a pure alum rod would be extremely hard to control the puddle.be better off using a torch set up with a fine tip and someone shelling the area with pref argon or co2
We ain't rich....200 dollars 400 dollars for some broken shit ain't cool
100% agree but thats what you get when made in china.
Well considering most of the products that are in US are made in China....
They blamed me saying mine was wired wrong but had mine professionally done
Smh anything to rip you off
I don't think I want to get any of them now. And I was seriously considering them.
Smart choice not to
If you want to keep them going you can grind it down and JB weld a piece of metal bent to the contour of the driver along with some metal screws. Yeah it would look hood and they would only work inverted but they would work... Maybe :( :( Sorry to hear
It's all good bro it still plays fine just the principle of how these millionaires treat their loyal customers
Get with Resilient Sounds my boi!💪
i had numerous brands of 4 spoke baskets snapping they're just not a good basket to have. get yourself TI baskets there strong and $40 a pice a baskets
Yea I'm definitely upgrading soon
I think thats exactly why I went with EMF Lowballers instead of Skar.
Good choice 👍
Wow and I was just about to spend 25hundred on these...thanks👌👌
Just keeping it real
There not trash a have 4 15 skar comp subs runing 15000 watts for a year and all my soeakers and tweaters and horns is skar so this guy just got bad luck
Definitely trash and your not so bright I see
regardless of mounting of use, the sub should have never broken by the basket. not the cleanest install but again, basket should not have broken.
I’ve had the same 4 DDX 12s on a MD8K with a triple baffle 13cube box and they still taking it after 3 years.🤷🏻♂️ just my 2¢
No box flex
@@countryboisavage do you have dowels on the inside of the box going from wall to wall on each axis at least? That would stop most of the flex from the box
You can't stop something that don't exist smartass you should pay more attention if you wanna be a no it all have a nice day
@@countryboisavage I'll take that as a no...enjoy your L on that subwoofer then
Dude I sold them subs almost a year ago and have had a few different setups since so no l here enjoy being a idiot dumbass
Skar audio sucks bc their gap on the zvx is so big,its impossible to find a proper voicecoil for repair
Lol one of many problems 🤣
Yeah they should have replaced that I know I would've if it was my company you're totally in the right on this one bro 😉
Thanks bro and I'm with you I would've replaced them to
Doing what I do for a living I have a theory on why the basket broke at 6:06 if you compare the depth of the screw next to where the basket is broke to a screw were the basket isnt broke its possible with the way the sub is mounted that the uneven torque of the screw put added stress on the cast basket causing it to crack. I'm not saying their mounted wrong. Just saying working with bolts and cast parts every day all day you see things and learn things.
You may need a new job
Go get some JB weld.If you clean the edges up good and it should hold. But I agree with you. That is BAD customer service! And it has a 1 year warranty.I would raise hell. I would ask to talk to a supervisor!
I'm good I just no longer support nor spend anymore money with their company
Realdude rec It’s funny that right after I saw your video they had a short clip on the news about the owner of Skar.He is a 20 year old college student. That is probably part of the issue.
Joe Belton should totally be covered you’d think. Now we know I guess!
How did you like those DDX's with their customer service to the side?
Trash it broke and came unglued
@@countryboisavage damn that sucks.. on how much power? Dust cap blew off or what happened? That sucks ass bro
Not the dust cap the whole surround on 3 out of 4 subs came unglued and 2 out of the 4 subs baskets broke it was on a 2k amp 4-15 only 2k
This is literally the same setup I want to do, dual skars in the back of a suburban with room for the 3rd row to stay in place.
Don't waste your time with skar
Go with sundown. Unless you’re gonna get the skar evl’s
@@EDurdi3 definitely a no go on both
Realdude rec what’s wrong with sundown?
It's worst quality then skar and it's over price china junk you couldn't give me that shit
If the basket is a cast metal one the basket is too weak. Vibration has caused the metal to disintegrate.
That's crazy
I bought a Bic home theater speaker system from sound distributors, after about 3 years a rear surround woofer started making noise subwoofer died. and Eric I think sent me replacements no questions asked... I live in Maine he's in Vegas n I received the parts in about a week from the email... Now that's service... Sound distributors is the place highly recommend...
That's definitely how customers service supposed to work
Seems like he has too big of a box and is pushing these things past their limit... it should never come apart like that
Wrong and wrong 0 for 2
Basket is easy to tweak if not mounted properly, solid double baffle, evenly tighten all the way around the flange.
Been running sundown now for 3 years. Only other brand I might consider now is b2
@josephcastillo6742 sundown is trash and b2 is overrated
@@countryboisavage my sundown is absolutely beast. I can throw whatever power I want at it and it won’t blow. Distortion and all. what do you run?
@josephcastillo6742 your are entitled to your opinion but that shit definitely trash
@@countryboisavage you still haven’t answered me. What do you run?
You're right my friend but it was number 2 reason
But B2 audio looks nice too, I would like to try out B2 some day
Yea bro those look niceeeee
What's up bro
I can understand arguing the soft parts...but the actual basket and 2 spokes at that...that's catastrophic failure
Exactly 💯
I know I'm a bit late to this vid lol...but Thanx for the reply
Yes sir always thanks for taking the time to stop in every view is appreciated
