  • Are you considering #homeschooling but don't know what the next steps are? I'll walk you through how to find your state's information on how to un-enroll your child from public school and how to let them know you're choosing to homeschool - whether it be temporary until things go back to normal after the coronavirus crisis or permanent. Each state is different, but I'll show you Georgia's specific laws & requirements!

      @@TheJohnsonCrew A small question...do you have to go by the Georgia school calendar or can you begin at a more traditional time schedule.. as in closer to September when homeschooling?

      @@patrickghenry100 Your calendar can be whatever you want! They have the "180 days of education" requirement, but those days don't always have to be formal, sit down instruction days either. The beauty of homeschooling is learning things through all kinds of different things!

    In Georgia and some other states, parents are required to have a high shool diploma or a GED to be able to teach children. But what if the parents themeselves were homeschooled? Is a homeschool diploma enough as proof?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  Місяць тому +1

      I'm not sure how they would actually handle it if they were ever pushed to actually require some kind of proof, but I should hope that is satisfactory.

    Mrs.Johnson I have a question!Do we have to get some kind of permit from the DOL here in GA?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  3 роки тому +1

      Not a permit! Filling out the Intent form is all that's required in GA!

    Do you know if they will require testing or what alternatives they do for kids who are special needs and can’t take standardized tests?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure how they handle special needs children, but I would recommend reaching out to your local school district to ask. You can also reach out to your local school and ask them what services your child qualifies for as a homeschooler in case there are some things you'd like to take advantage of. My 5yo takes speech classes twice a week, all by himself with a teacher at our local public school!

    Can a child start kindergarten at 4? For homeschool? i called the kindergarten school and they said he would have to wait to start once he already turned 5. Someone did say i dont have to wait if i homeschool, but i wouldnt know

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  Рік тому

      You can start whenever you see that he's ready! You can start teaching him K concepts and if he ever seems like he's needing to slow down to master the concepts, you can do that too! But some kids are eager to learn scholastic subjects earlier than others, so I say take advantage of that eagerness and go for it!

      @TheJohnsonCrew but to to do the declaration of intend for homeschool or whatever its called 😅 would they allow you if the child is a year earlier than what the state allows?

    • @TheJohnsonCrew
      @TheJohnsonCrew  Рік тому

      @@jl8805 You just wouldn't need to even fill that out until the correct age.

      @TheJohnsonCrew correct, but if they are already ahead, I would still have to wait to start first grade at 6 even if they are ready at 5? Right? 🤔 sorry, my first time doing this n idk who to ask 😅
