Yes I agree I’m pretty sure he’s going to be there for you just when you need him ❤ brilliant . This boat is going to be wonderful for you and your family when it’s done . I look forward to seeing progress every day ! 😊
Great teamwork, so generous of Marlon to lend a helping hand! Love EVERYTHING about this project of yours! Thanks as usual for sharing, it takes so much effort to film/edit etc., quite a bit on top of the actual boat work - it's appreciated! Cheers!
Go Marlon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ What a fantastic guy. You are very fortunate James. Not having to look after the girls was a huge relief too - a big thank you to your parents. The boat is looking brilliant - the black makes so much difference. Just shows how all that hard work is paying off. Hope you and the girls have a relaxing morning before they go back and you get stuck in again. 😊
Thanks !! Yeah we’re having a chill day - although got to go out and buy some plastic trays for the bilge. That’s what the girls asked to do - nothing to do with me 😂
Honestly mate, what an absolute trooper Marlon is. You’re both working incredibly (and equally) hard, obviously, but you know what I mean. Three cheers for Marlon ❤❤❤ 🙂🐿🌈❤️
James you need to try push Ralph back a day. If I’ve looked at the data sheet for the right blacking you’ll be putting it in the water to fast. 2 days for a hard dry at 15.c
So glad you got some help and good help. Marlon is gold. Hoping you can get those last bits done under the boat and not have to wait a year. But as you said it is what it is.
Holy crap bat man ! Marlon i hope you know your an earth angel ! Such a lovely guy . Thank you for sharing with us James . Shout out to papa Richard and mum for looking after the girls ! Hope Ralph finds you some space so you can do more . Lots of hugs x j
Marlon has to be a god send for you James, the right person at just the right time, you guys have smashed the blacking (et all) outta the park. I'm blown away at how much you have done (without cutting corners) on the boat. I hope you have the paint for the Vetus soon and good weather to get it painted. You're doing an amazing job James (aided by the star Marlon) Stay safe guys.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt One step at a time mate (so it's said), she's going to look amazing when she's complete. I'm still amazed the Vetus was relatively good to go after its long swim. again, amazing job done so far. Stay Safe pal.
I don't know where you find the energy for such hard work day after day and then have the time to edit a video still. I'd have had a beer and fallen asleep !
What a difference with the blacking on it ! Cant wait to see how it is after the second coat. So glad you mentioned the "Brazilians"... those bits were causing my OCD to go into overdrive 😂 Hopefully you can get them sorted, as you have made a sterling job of the rest of it - it would be a shame to have two rusty strips.
A lovely job done Marlon is a star helping you the way he has I think he gave you inspiration to get it done so well nothing like a second pair of hands,
He has a brilliant work ethic so yeah he did inspire me to carry on. He doesn’t stop for breaks or endless tea like us Brits. He didn’t even stop for a soda 😂
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt Nothing has changed there, then. Lucky I had the sense to bring a stove, kettle, tea and milk. I can't do anything without a brew, and not much more with one. 😁

Would be lovely if you had Marlon stay around for a bit. With all his skills, he would definitely be an asset for you when you are working on the interior. Great that you got a break on the base plate. Kudos to your parents either for stepping in to help you. Boat is looking great. What a difference getting at least some of the blacking done! Great work James. 😊🤗 Kathy
Looks great having a nice fresh dressing of blacking on the boat - you’ve come a long way in a short period of time. Nicely done! and Marlon is a Top Bloke to have around for sure 👍
You have an awesome man in Marlon! Hardworking and talented! I’m glad someone is helping so you can get her engine in her and start on the inside. If I were you I’d try to use stained wood in many places just to give it a luxurious look! Take care both of you ❤
What a great job James. I have had the pleasure of your journey with both boats and all of your life . The good the bad and the ugly!!! How much is required to get my name on the boat list??
James what have you decided to do about anodes on the bottom of the boat. You answered my question at the end of the video. Fingers crossed they find you a land space for a few more days.
When are the anodes going to be applied? , would they have not been better applied before the blacking was done. Great work and loving the progress, Top respect to Marlon.
@The Narrowboat that James built many thanks for your reply, I look forward to seeing your progression especially the internal fit out, keep up the awesome work
Still loving the vlogs mate. Seen my name on the wall 👍🏼 I hope it’s helped. Got a question if you don’t mind me asking. Been to see a boat today but it had polystyrene insulation throughout. I’d rather go for a boat with spray foam. Can you advise? Keep safe dude. 👍🏼👍🏼
Sometimes if the boat has been figured out you’re stuck with whatever insulation they’ve used. Polystyrene though is perfect toy good if it’s been well installed - like anything. Many boat builders use is it as it’s clean and easy to work with and importantly is effective. Don’t let it put you off but maybe see if you can sneak a peak somewhere to see how well it’s been put in. Thanks for helping Mitch - it’s all a massive help - it really is. Happy boat hunting mate
Thanks for the reply mate. The reason I asked because when I went to see it I noticed that the curtain poles hinges on all the cupboards and deck lights had rust on them. Is this normal for a 16 year old boat? To me it means condensation in the boat has been bad in the past which is why I asked about the insulation. Any thoughts? Take care mate. 2nd coat of blackings looking cracking. 👍🏼👍🏼
@@NarrowboatJophina2 I wouldn’t worry about curtain poles etc - they could have had rusty bits on them beforehand. Check the bilge if you can. But if you go looking for rust….you’ll find it mate. Has the boat got a survey?
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt I did look in a inspection hatch at the aft end of the boat just before the engine bay and it did have a small amount water in it along with a small bilge pump. It’s just had a survey done on it and it’s also just been blacked by the brokerage. So I think I need to speak to them to see if they can send over a copy of the survey for me to take a look at.
