“You know Stone, if my imaginary wife and I have a son, I hope to consider him a brother.” “Thanks, Whitey. And I’ll pretend I never heard you say that.” Best part
Can we give a round of applause to Tom? He had the most prestigious award the town could offer literally in the palm of his hand and he graciously stepped down so it could go to someone who deserved it more. Graceful losers are underrated. To have the backbone to give up something you really really wanted and be able to genuinely congratulate the person it goes to is just...it’s so small and this movie is so crazy but it is really sweet.
This is my favourite Adam Sandler movie. Because it shows us that we should not take good people for granted. When Whitey cried and when he didn't get it. I really felt it. I mean all he wanted was to show the people how much he does for the town. Whitey was the best thing about this movie. My favourite character. He was very sweet and caring. He absolutely deserved this moment.
This scene gives me goosebumps every time I watch it. Just really touching. It was Whitey’s last chance to try and win that award that he waited most of his life for. He had done nice things for the people of Dukesberry, but never got a single thanks. And after thinking real hard about how ignorant the residents had been to him and how badly he was treated, the people knew who deserved that Patch award more than anybody.
Yes definitely. He absolutely deserved this moment. I mean when cries when he didn't get it. How he was at the Mall. Saying "At least give me that" and when he was telling the Mall that he didn't get it. God that gutted me. I was thinking "This sweet man. All he ever wanted. Was for the people to show much he does for the town. For the sake of doing it". When they started throwing every one down. That was beautiful. This is my favourite Adam Sandler movie. Because it's the only one where Adam Sandler is not my favourite character. Whitey is.
It was his final year of being the referee for little league basketball due to him turning 70 years old, and he will no longer be covered by his insurance after that.
i can feel davey, he wasnt acting like a criminal cause he wanted to. he was doing it cause his parents death put a huge toll on him and he was mearly depressed.
cosmoman.EXE i agree and he didn’t let anyone help him. He was so angry at everyone for trying to help him. His emotions took some much control that he lost himself.
They do say it's not healthy too keep in repression after all that might it's be another way too describe insecured people eh bullies ? Get help or go too jail 😑😡
this is an underrated Sandler movie that actually tries in earnest to tell a story about grief, mourning, and repression, but still manages immature jokes about portopotties and boners.
this is my favorite seasonal movie of all time. its a touching film. its like no one cares about whitey then at the end i realize that whitey has done so much for the community and he really deserves the patch of the year. seen this movie so many times and i cry everytime.
He absolutely deserved this moment. This only Adam Sandler movie. Where someone else is my favourite character. That's why it's my favourite Adam Sandler movie.
People don’t give this movie enough credit because it’s Adam Sandler. But this film is so touching! It has its funny parts like the imaginary wife line but it will bring a tear to your eyes!!
God whitey was the kindest character I've ever seen I couldn't watch this when it came out because I just felt so sorry for the crap he went through He was weird, helpful and never asked for anything but thank you in return. I wanted to be like him lol
This, Little Nicky, and Water Boy were awesome movies. Don’t know why you feel any guilt for liking them. Haven’t seen the other two, so I can’t comment.
I personally like a good portion of his movies but I also didn't really like Pixels. It was okay but it just felt really cliched and boring despite the fact that I love video games. The songs were okay but they either didn't fit with the scene or they were repeated multiple times.

I really like how Adam Sandler voiced not only his cartoon self, but also did the voice of Whitey; because it reminded me of his audio skits like "The Beating Of The High School Spanish Teacher" or "The Cheerleader" in which you can hear that exact high-pitched voice.
this film is strange, but true, and real at the same time. it show like pain can change a person, but at the end accepting it, and moving forward that.
"Now go live happily ever after or i'll drop kick the teeth outta your mouth" I came to a agreement with myself that every Disney movie should end with the side character saying that.
i see davey in the future davey gets married he either lays off the alcohol or just changes his habit to drinking by either to one beer a day or goes to just wine. He lives in a house gets a job with community service for a way to help the town. these would be good if they make a sequel
Maybe after he leaves jail, then Davey would leave all of his problems behind thank Jennifer's help. Speak of which, how did Jennifer get to raise her son despite being single at first?
What'd he do, steal beer for everybody...yes, but he also made us realize how cool Whitey was. Maybe it's the beer, but Whitey is the greatest man to ever live...wait, that's not the quote.
I remember seeing this with my ex-fiancee in the theater and just being so overwhelmed emotionally by how Davey's story goes from being one of loathing and self- pity to redeeming himself and the town by getting them to admitting their own faults.
Just before this, MAYOR: For the first time for many years, your friend Davey Stone actually did a good thing for this community. ELEANOR: What did he do? Steal beer for everyone?

The fact that whitey when he got the patch his first words were “but this was toms” should say something about who he is instead of just taking it he expressed the fact that someone before him had received it before him and didn’t immediately take it for himself
Whitey: You know, Stone? If my imaginary wife and I ever had a son, I hope you consider him a brother. Davey: Thanks, Whitey, and I'll pretend I never heard you say that. Whitey: 😊... appreciate it.
I like how Whitey is trying his best to thank each person by name. It shows how he really did care about the community.
I always love how humble Tom is about giving up the patch and saying it belongs to Whitey
Gotta love how humble whitey is too “But this is Tom’s” both showed a lot of character there
Followed by every other person in the town giving up their patches.
Tom: "Why would we give Whitey Duvall the patch? So he can use it like a blanket?"
“You know Stone, if my imaginary wife and I have a son, I hope to consider him a brother.”
“Thanks, Whitey. And I’ll pretend I never heard you say that.”
