I met him backstage, brought him tea. Gave me some tips playing this song. I am crying inside. Played Sebastian last night at our weekly jamsession, to honor him.
They had to be able to play to get known, whereas now you can make a video & instantly be seen worldwide, & auto tune if necessary. Not saying there aren't hard working bands now, but not everyone can back up their records live 😊
when he was young he looked different arrogant pale. i dont no but i loved the music glam rock all the songs. when he was older he was so different more nicer verry sympathic. his eyes. more happy without drugs etc. am i wrong then tell me. but he looks so much nicer. sebastian make me smile judy teen phantom of the opera etc. yvonne keeley his wife children. i followed him the last years. what a great performer and his band they deserve credits to. will i miss him yes. but the legacy lives on steve harley and cockney rebel. they wil always make people smile. rest in peace.
Saw Steve and the band several times over a 30 year period (and bought everything he released!) and was lucky enough to meet him a couple of times - was hoping to see him again this year too. Couldn't believe it when I heard, I just assumed he'd go on forever - totally gutted.
Unique talented singer songwriter. Seen him and his acoustic band in Southport 21,afsin Manchester 22 with electric Cocney Rebel.both nights was brilliant.
I had the great pleasure of seeing Steve twice. First time at the Birmingham Philharmonic when he and the band played the Human Menagerie and Psychomodo albums in full accompanied by a full orchestra. A few years later and by total contrast, an acoustic set in a small theatre in Staffordshire. Without doubt, the best two gigs I've ever attended . I'd heard previously what a master he was in engaging with his audience but until and unless you experienced it, it is impossible to appreciate just how natural a performer the guy was. Not the greatest singer nor a particularly exceptional musician but my goodness did he know how to deliver a performance. Gutted that I'll never experience that ever again but so grateful to have had the opportunity to see one of the greats perform live not once but twice,
Saw the band at the Winning Post on The Chertsey Road, Whitton about the time Psychomodo was released. The only guitar was Steve's acoustic. With Jean-Paul Crocker on violin. Best concert I have ever seen. Music from The Human Menagerie and Psychomodo albums, absolutely stunning. First saw the second iteration at Crystal Palace in 1975, very good but not as exciting as that first concert.
Heartbreaking watching this. First saw him in 1973 in Reading. Barry Wickens has been with him for 40 years. Is that Stuart Elliot on drums? They must be distraught.
Microvideo get to live record/stream 100's of bands. Just another day at the office. But sometimes our production crew capture the real spirit of the artist. We done all - so proud of you. Charles x
To lose Steve only a few days after the great Karl Wallinger, a month after Steve Wright? So much decency and old school talent sacrificed to the poison poke, I fear. RIP lads.
Farewell Steve….thanks for all the great memories….not sure we will ever see the likes of you again…..Bless you.
rip my friend

Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel are the sound of my childhood, absolutely unforgettable.
I’m still crying inwardly
He looks forever young . Youd think he would have loved to be 90 . Rest in peace and happy lovely songs Steve x
Steve Harley wrote some truly wonderful, imaginative songs and his passing has upset me.
i still cry
Me too, been uneasy all week.
Saw Steve in 1975 at the Glasgow Apollo the ticket cost was £ 1.25...Fantastic night,...........................
Bless him, RIP, saw him in Bexhill December 2022 - he was amazing as was his band. We will miss him so much.
One of the great songs from mine and no doubt a lot of people’s youth !
A gem of a band and incredible live, why are the bands from back then so much better than most out there now.
They had to be able to play to get known, whereas now you can make a video & instantly be seen worldwide, & auto tune if necessary. Not saying there aren't hard working bands now, but not everyone can back up their records live 😊

Another one gone! He put on a great show with his band.
Rest in peace Steve, thank you ''Sebastian''!
I can't believe this guy is not known in America..great performance, great songs....BTW ,im an American!
Did he have to have the CV19 jabs and if so did they affect his health? I wager that is a question that won't even be asked by the powers that be.
Thanks Steve for the music, you once said you were the new Slade..........not sure about that, but thanks for making music fun!
