My foundation was double wear light by Estée Lauder and since they discontinued it I’m lost. Foundations for me is one of the toughest products to find a match. Combo skin and age 56 doesn’t help. Thanks for all you do with foundation reviews. 👍🏼❤️
Im a Dw light fan as well. If you haven’t found one yet you might want to try Anastasia. It says it’s luminous but it’s very nice it’s not shiny or anything. I find that any kind of primer works nice under it. If you like primers like Smashbox photo finish I like that with pretty much anything and I also like urban decay primer it’s really nice it’s a new one I just came out. That one would be a good one for if your combo oily.
Before you try high end it might be worth trying wet n wild tinted hydrator. It's only around 6 dollars so worth a go if you like dewy. I mix it with elf camo concealer for more coverage
My skin is as dry as the Sahara and the CT is amazing for me, just in case anyone is interested. This is just natural for me, no dry flakes and no shine just a bit radiant.
i don’t think many people realise how much the climate can affect the behaviour of foundation. for this reason i always look forward to your reviews because i don’t know of any other reviewer who mentions the climate systematically in their videos. thank you for this ! 💗
I agree. That Tarte Cloud foundation is still one of my favs. And with oily dehydrated acne prone skin (a lot of concerns who usually hates SPF in foundations) I truly believe it's a slept on foundation. With a sponge it's beautiful and moussy in texture, like a "cloud" ❤

My 62 year old super dry skin loves the CT New Foundation. As a HUGE Lisa Eldridge fan I ordered her new foundation immediately...so far I have found it pretty drying and fussy to work with. Interestingly enough, I like it best a few hours after application when it picks up a tad bit of glow. I'm reserving judgement until summer when the heat and humidity kicks in and my skin is less dry...I am guessing the LE will work much better in the summer and the CT will be more of a winter foundation for me. The Lisa Eldridge foundation is my holy grail foundation. It’s absolutely beautiful. The undertones are absolute perfection. As a combo to oily skin gal, I can make it last most of the day by using a light dusting of powder.
I've been using Bobbi Brown's Skin Foundation for years with surprising success. It works really well on my middle-aged skin. Light to medium coverage that gives me a great soft focus look.
A foundation that really surprised me was Sephora’s brand foundation, the clean beauty one. Very friendly to my mature-ish textured skin, with a good glow (not too much tho).
I had the opposite experience with the Bobbi Brown foundations! I absolutely LOVE the Intensive Skin Serum (it's hydrating, beautiful, and very skin- like), but didn't care for the Skin Long-wear (dry, patchy, and thick powdery). We usually have similar views on foundations so I was surprised.
I’ve been using the BB Intensive Skin Serum foundation too for a while & really like it! My daughter uses it too & really likes it. I find it to be light weight & hydrating for my mature skin!
It depends which skin type you are. One is for more olily skin and the other one for dry skin. And it is important to use a primer on the same base of the foundation (silicon, water, oil).
Thank you so much, sweet Stephanie! I don't really understand the hype on dewy/radiant foundations. As a 54 years old oily girl, it has been a real struggle to keep foundations on my skin. Even when following all the tips and tricks, the EL double wear makes me shiny after 2 hours. I have friends with drier skin, and, after a few hours, they also get shiny and hate it, so what's the point of these glowy foundations? Maybe for a photo-shoot, it would look beautiful, but when oils break through, it is pure hell🤣 I only use powder foundations, so I would appreciate you reviewing the newest ones! After all the bad reviews on the CT foundation I was pleasantly surprised when I received mine and used it. I did put a matifying primer underneath it. I loved it and the way it looked on my skin. I had already ordered it when everyone started hating it, so I went ahead and tried it. I also got the NARS and liked it as well. I have super dry skin with pores around my nose and cheeks so I expected to hate the CT foundation. The Lisa Eldridge looked awful on me. I had to work way to hard to make it work and for $61, I just want it to work without having to work hard to make it work.
The Tarte looked absolutely STUNNING on you! I was thinking all of them looked really good until I saw the Tarte and you most definitely SOLD ME!! Really beautiful!!🥰❤️
On a completely unrelated note, you have fixed my long wear lipstick issues. I’m a teacher who doesn’t have time to touch up lipstick all day, so I purchased a Le Rouge Duo by Chanel after watching a video you made and I loved it so much that I bought 4 more in short order. I LOVE it. It wears long, stays hydrated, and wears off gracefully. It isn’t drying. Perfect. Thank you!!! I had tried EVERYTHING ELSE with zero success. I adore the Chanel and will not likely buy another brand for a very very long time. I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it.

The secret is to let your spf stay on your skin for at least 15 minutes to soak in before putting on your primer then foundation. I’m 68 and it works for me and my dry skin.
A layer sitting on top of the skin . That was a flashback to foundations a million years ago. I didn’t even wear foundation because of that until I was in my mature years. Guess Bobby Brown went retro. I think that was why power foundations boomed in the 70’s. The Bobby Brown review made me shutter. I only use what sinks into the skin & adds some nurturing ingredients. Lisa Eldridge is one for sure. Thank you.
I'm loving the Chanel no.1 foundation. It's very light and skin like, both of which, I really enjoy. Even though I have dry skin, I haven't been swayed into buying either the Nars or the CT foundations. As I'm getting more years added to birthday cards, I've found that I'm veering away from the dewy/glowy foundations and leaning more towards the skin like/luminous finishes. The Tarte foundation looks amazing on you, my skin is like yours ( but I am a lot older ) at the end of the day I do have an oily T zone, the good thing is that they say that oily skin gets less wrinkles and I am lucky in that aspect, almost no wrinkles, some larger pores due to age but not many lines, the Tarte looks really nice on you and you are one of those rare people that looks very nice with almost no make up, in the Tarte pictures you look like you are 20 something, I would go for the Tarte, lol, great video, thanks to show us all the diferences in foundations and how the skin looks with each one of them, stay well.
I love the BB and CT . But, I’m your age with dry skin living where it’s winter and cold. So I like those ultra dewy foundations. I like to wear them both just really thin. I’ll have to check out the NARS if it ever comes back in stock ! Thanks for the great reviews!
I loooove BB serum foundation. I’m in a dry climate and have combination skin and it goes well over Vitamin enriched face base, or just regular lotion. I thought it would fall off over Tatcha silk canvas but it different. I even use it over Glossier Future Dew.

I had the exact same results with the Charlotte Tilbury foundation, and I wanted to love it because at first it looked really good, but it just looks so shiny and showed significant texture. What I have found works for me is I mix it with a small amount of the NARS soft matte foundation and that looks really nice. I am 63 with what I consider to be fairly normal skin.
100% agree with you about the CT and Nars radiant foundations. Nars was my pick of the 2 but I returned both. Because I have very mature normal skin with a dry patch here or there logically I have always thought a radiant foundation would be flattering. Not so for me! They all, to some degree, emphasize my texture and pores. Nars did it the least but it still just wasn't perfect. You are so right that with every age what works changes. Presently Dior Face and Body and Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation Matte are my favorites. (I wish Cle de Peau wasn't 💸). Who knows what it will be next week! I’m a little bummed you didn’t like Bobbi Brown but not entirely surprised given your climate and skin. 5 years ago their Skin foundation felt too dewy on me (and it’s oil free), but now it feels a tiny bit dry, so that’s the second I realized my skin was changing quite a bit seemingly overnight. To think now I can wear a dewy foundation with oil over an oily primer blows my mind. The Hourglass primer has been awesome in my shinier spots so I’m glad I finally bought it from listening to you rave about it. I’m surprised how little I takes also. I wonder how much the humidity affects how something sinks in or not because Colorado is DRY and it sinks into my skin and smooths over texture.
Have you tried the new Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer? Their Mineral Veil is the holy grail for so many oily/combo girls, and this new one claims to blur imperfections, minimize pores and fine lines, and absorb excess oil. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
No argument here but if a foundation is done right why should I pay twice the price with two layers to make the foundation work? I don’t have oily skin and if I did I’d look for one foundation for oily skin. 50 for primer, 50 for foundation. Just do one product. It feels like the companies do it on purpose. I dunno, just sayin’. Some days I spend entirely more time in front of a mirror with skin products, I.e., primer, foundation, concealer, setting power, brightening powder, finishing powder. Dang, I’d look like a 6 layer cake. I have my suspicions.😵💫
I love the LE foundation isbao beautiful and I think it looks better a few hours later. I am liking the serum foundations these days also, like Chanel No 1 and Lawless which is woman owned.
I love the Lisa Eldridge foundation! My skin looks amazing with it, but still like skin, not like spackle. My year-round shades usually match your summer shade, (NC30, Estee Lauder DW in Rattan 2W2) so I take #16 in the Lisa Eldridge. The undertone is so perfect that I cannot detect where I blended the product out and where my skin is bare. My skin is normal to dry, and my climate is not as humid as yours, so it lasts for me a good 10 hours. I'm keeping it for special occasions because the price is a little steep for me, but it's undeniably high-quality and it makes me look and feel fabulous.

I'm 65 and my skin leans dry, especially in winter. Dewy/radiant/glowy/light reflecting makeup looks like grease on my face. If I powder it down it's cake. Not good. Bobbi Brown's stick foundation is my favorite and Porcelain is a perfect shade match.
I have really, really dry skin and I had the same problem with the Bobbi Brown serum foundation. I felt like it made my skin look like a jigsaw puzzle--you put it perfectly that it emphasized texture you didn't know you had. To top it off apparently since the start of my fifties I need a darker shade to have a flattering base and I didn't know that so it was a total fail. I have found one primer that helps it work--the nyx hydrating jelly primer. Also I have to put darkening drops in. Not a repurchase. I just ordered the Nars. I hope it works for me. Our skin types are very different and winter in Ohio is very very dry climate-wise.
I think Bobbi Brown looks and feels like silk on me, and I’m combination acne prone, with texture and dry patches. I live in a very dry climate and it seems to work best for me over less watery primers, even Glossier Future Dew - it goes over Tatcha Silk Canvas, Hourglass primer, and especially Vitamin enriched face base. It’s weird how one person’s holy grail doesn’t work for someone else. Except for NARS tinted moisturizer all of their foundations feel like rubber cement sitting on my face, so I’m a little hesitant about their new one.

I think a good foundation to review , which you do not see too many people do , is smith & cult . At first I was a little on the fence with this . But with the right amount , technique and primer this has become a fav .
I just tried the Lisa Eldridge and the Ch. Tilbury. Both turned peachy on me after application, which was so disappointing, as I really liked the finish of both.
I absolutely love the Lisa Eldridge and the new Chanel No1 foundation. These two worked beautifully on my 62 year old skin. I do live in a humid climate most of the year so I will be excited to see how these hold up in August when we're at 95 degrees with 90% humidty. xoxo

I loved the Charlotte Tilbury one! It works soooo well with my dry skin. The Nars sucked all the hydration out of my skin and it made me look dry… so weird! I think with Charlotte Tilbury one, 1 pump is more than enough.
I think the NARS looked the best on you. A flat matte isn't as flattering, I find, as I'm now 40. I just blot my t-zone and continue on with the glowy look.. I just use Porefessional on my t-zone 🙌

You spoke about the Bobbi Brown Foundation and it got me thinking immediately of the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. I can’t tell how many ways I tried to make it work and how many times I washed my face and started over again. It just doesn’t work for me !! It frustrates the heck out of me. I even contacted their customer services (that was a let down) so the only thing to do was throwing it away. I’m sorry but it was that bad. Back to your channel 🤗🤗 I’m literally binge watching now. Thank you for such a great video! I am so thankful you mentioned the Rose Complex in the new CT foundation! I tried this foundation the other day from a sample I got at Sephora and within an hour of wearing it I could not stop sneezing! It never dawned on me to check the ingredient list! I am allergic to anything rose. I'm bummed because the shade 4N was literally a perfect match.
Love the Eldridge foundation and I do get 8 hours of wear BUT I agree it can be finicky until you find the combo that works for you. Still it’s beautiful on. Have you ever tried the lys serum foundation? I use that as an everyday hydrating foundation that works well with my skincare and sunscreen. It’s very affordable.
Review any foundation for large pours on very mature skin, sadly they seem to get worse with loss of elasticity. Going back to watch more of your foundation reviews, maybe I'll find the answer there, thanks, love your videos!
I was hoping to hear some magical preparation routine that made the Bobbi Brown work because I had EXACTLY the same problem with it - in some areas it went on fine, in others it wouldn't go on at all, leaving huge gaps. The end result was appalling every time. It's as if I was using too much moisturiser or primer or something, because it just wouldn't blend into my skin at all.
Thank you, Stephanie. I went to the Charlotte Tillsbury counter and I asked the sales women to help me find a shade. But every time she tried to smooth it on my face it pilled. I had a sunscreen on (and I came right from the gym so I had no foundation on). She gave me a little sample and asked me to go home and try to work with it. But everything I tried, just brought out the fine lines in my face and just looked dry or settled in my pores. I always wear a sunscreen and it never worked with them. I tried multiple primers and it was just so so. I forgoed my Vitamin C serum and that helped a little. I sometimes think that the Timeless Vitamin C serum can dry my skin. I live in the Boston area, I have dry skin and mature skin. The heat is always on at my house and everywhere else I go to. The outside weather is very dry and cold, so much so that even my hair has fly away electricity. So it could be that. Maybe in the Summer when it is humid it may work better. Do you use a sunscreen on your face before you apply foundation? If so, which one? Thanks again.
Would love for you to try LYS serum foundation and I just wanted to say I never knew you lived in New Orleans! That was my old stomping ground before marrying and moving to below Baton Rouge. We have just a slightly dryer climate here and my skin has gotten a lot dryer as I age, which is why I purchased the LYS. It goes on beautifully and wears well without drawing too much attention to my skin texture. Just a thought, love your videos and you do them so well.
Finally I found someone with the same skin type as me, I just could not get my expensive bobbi brown serum foundation work on my combination skin, It couldnt sink in and after few hours, it started to get cakey and patchy, I even tried to put a very hydrating base and moisturizer.. So sad it didn't work cuz it is so expensive..
Super helpful!! I bought the Nars last week and was really excited about … but found that I just don’t like it. It brings out texture and extenuates my pores. I’ll try the Tarte and see if that works better me! Thank you!💖

I know this suggestion is probably way off from the brands you prefer, but Stephanie, I would love for you to test out the new one from One Size beauty.. Its called the BBB balm!!! As a 56 y.o. dry person with oily T zone, this BBB balm is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Its LITERALLY a filter in a tube.... I never thought i would ever buy from that brand and I saw one review on it and I was sold... So glad I tried it so randomly BC it is THAT blurring and beautiful on the skin!!! My guess is that it would be very very similar to the Tarte cloud you enjoy so much... This one by One Size is nicely hydrating as well... FILTER FILTER FILTER is all I can say and just beautiful!!!👍👍👍

Glad to see this. Canada Sephora suddenly took Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder off the site! I’m hunting for a replacement in case CT is about to discontinue it in future. I’m not sure I would like that new one and most people are having the same trouble you had. I had been thinking about that NARS one as a replacement. So interesting how finicky foundations are especially on mature skin. I’m 53, very fair and extremely dry. I have more wrinkles and fine lines than I like to admit and I’m constantly on the hunt for a holy grail foundation. Other than the Bobbi Brown, I’ve tried every foundation you showcased here. All were complete fails for me except the Nars, which I’d give a shocking 9 out of 10. Loved it! The only reason that I didn’t give it a 10 is because I did feel like I needed to wear a primer with it. Next up for me… the new Chanel foundation which I paid far too much for as I search for my perfect 10 which probably doesn’t even exist. 😂

The Lisa Eldridge has been such a polarizing foundation for me; here in Toronto, it’s the perfect skin-like foundation, but over the holidays, I was in the states visiting my family, and the foundation just always looked off on my skin; but, when I came back home and tried it, it was perfect again. Nars light reflecting just didn't work for me 😭 It was too drying, and I am a 50yr old with oily t-zone /dry everywhere else. Accentuates all my wrinkles unfortunately. Not as good as sheer glow in my opinion Thank you for all your reviews 🙂
I finally purchased Lisa’s foundation after trying samples that came with an eyeshadow purchase. It’s now one of my new holy grails along with the Haus Labs. The Dior Backstage is another especially for warmer weather. Curious to know what the new formula will be like!

I like the CG Extreme Outlast with the pinky orange cap. Risa has lots of info about it. I like the EL, too.

I've used both ELDW and the Light and you can get the normal one the same if you apply it lightly with a damp beauty blender !

After all the bad reviews on the CT foundation I was pleasantly surprised when I received mine and used it. I did put a matifying primer underneath it. I loved it and the way it looked on my skin. I had already ordered it when everyone started hating it, so I went ahead and tried it. I also got the NARS and liked it as well. I have super dry skin with pores around my nose and cheeks so I expected to hate the CT foundation. The Lisa Eldridge looked awful on me. I had to work way to hard to make it work and for $61, I just want it to work without having to work hard to make it work.
Same here with that Lisa Eldridge foundation, it was awful on my dry skin especially on my chin area.

On a completely unrelated note, you have fixed my long wear lipstick issues. I’m a teacher who doesn’t have time to touch up lipstick all day, so I purchased a Le Rouge Duo by Chanel after watching a video you made and I loved it so much that I bought 4 more in short order. I LOVE it. It wears long, stays hydrated, and wears off gracefully. It isn’t drying. Perfect. Thank you!!! I had tried EVERYTHING ELSE with zero success. I adore the Chanel and will not likely buy another brand for a very very long time. I can’t believe more people aren’t talking about it.

The secret is to let your spf stay on your skin for at least 15 minutes to soak in before putting on your primer then foundation. I’m 68 and it works for me and my dry skin.
A layer sitting on top of the skin . That was a flashback to foundations a million years ago. I didn’t even wear foundation because of that until I was in my mature years. Guess Bobby Brown went retro. I think that was why power foundations boomed in the 70’s. The Bobby Brown review made me shutter. I only use what sinks into the skin & adds some nurturing ingredients. Lisa Eldridge is one for sure. Thank you.
I'm loving the Chanel no.1 foundation. It's very light and skin like, both of which, I really enjoy.
Even though I have dry skin, I haven't been swayed into buying either the Nars or the CT foundations.
As I'm getting more years added to birthday cards, I've found that I'm veering away from the dewy/glowy foundations and leaning more towards the skin like/luminous finishes.

The Tarte foundation looks amazing on you, my skin is like yours ( but I am a lot older ) at the end of the day I do have an oily T zone, the good thing is that they say that oily skin gets less wrinkles and I am lucky in that aspect, almost no wrinkles, some larger pores due to age but not many lines, the Tarte looks really nice on you and you are one of those rare people that looks very nice with almost no make up, in the Tarte pictures you look like you are 20 something, I would go for the Tarte, lol, great video, thanks to show us all the diferences in foundations and how the skin looks with each one of them, stay well.

I love the BB and CT . But, I’m your age with dry skin living where it’s winter and cold. So I like those ultra dewy foundations. I like to wear them both just really thin. I’ll have to check out the NARS if it ever comes back in stock ! Thanks for the great reviews!
I loooove BB serum foundation. I’m in a dry climate and have combination skin and it goes well over Vitamin enriched face base, or just regular lotion. I thought it would fall off over Tatcha silk canvas but it different. I even use it over Glossier Future Dew.

I had the exact same results with the Charlotte Tilbury foundation, and I wanted to love it because at first it looked really good, but it just looks so shiny and showed significant texture. What I have found works for me is I mix it with a small amount of the NARS soft matte foundation and that looks really nice. I am 63 with what I consider to be fairly normal skin.
100% agree with you about the CT and Nars radiant foundations. Nars was my pick of the 2 but I returned both. Because I have very mature normal skin with a dry patch here or there logically I have always thought a radiant foundation would be flattering. Not so for me! They all, to some degree, emphasize my texture and pores. Nars did it the least but it still just wasn't perfect. You are so right that with every age what works changes. Presently Dior Face and Body and Cle de Peau Radiant Fluid Foundation Matte are my favorites. (I wish Cle de Peau wasn't 💸). Who knows what it will be next week! I think I need to try Lisa Eldridge's foundation again. I did not choose the right shade and the samples were out of stock. Thanks, again, for your honest reviews and opinion, Stephanie.
Jann, I love the radiant fluid matte as well. Chantecaille Future Skin and Lisa Eldridge are my other go to’s these days.
Yup the CT one has a lot of shine . And emphasizes texture . Like most have said it’s true .

Nars Sheer Glow is my all time favourite foundation. I’m in the tail end of my 59’s and foundation has be tricky but this one just loves my skin!

I’m a little bummed you didn’t like Bobbi Brown but not entirely surprised given your climate and skin. 5 years ago their Skin foundation felt too dewy on me (and it’s oil free), but now it feels a tiny bit dry, so that’s the second I realized my skin was changing quite a bit seemingly overnight. To think now I can wear a dewy foundation with oil over an oily primer blows my mind. The Hourglass primer has been awesome in my shinier spots so I’m glad I finally bought it from listening to you rave about it. I’m surprised how little I takes also. I wonder how much the humidity affects how something sinks in or not because Colorado is DRY and it sinks into my skin and smooths over texture.
I honestly thought your skin looked best with the Tarte foundation. Can you try the new Chanel foundation? Everyone is raving about it.

Have you tried the new Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Primer? Their Mineral Veil is the holy grail for so many oily/combo girls, and this new one claims to blur imperfections, minimize pores and fine lines, and absorb excess oil. Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
No argument here but if a foundation is done right why should I pay twice the price with two layers to make the foundation work? I don’t have oily skin and if I did I’d look for one foundation for oily skin. 50 for primer, 50 for foundation. Just do one product. It feels like the companies do it on purpose. I dunno, just sayin’. Some days I spend entirely more time in front of a mirror with skin products, I.e., primer, foundation, concealer, setting power, brightening powder, finishing powder. Dang, I’d look like a 6 layer cake. I have my suspicions.😵💫

I love the LE foundation isbao beautiful and I think it looks better a few hours later. I am liking the serum foundations these days also, like Chanel No 1 and Lawless which is woman owned.

I love the Lisa Eldridge foundation! My skin looks amazing with it, but still like skin, not like spackle. My year-round shades usually match your summer shade, (NC30, Estee Lauder DW in Rattan 2W2) so I take #16 in the Lisa Eldridge. The undertone is so perfect that I cannot detect where I blended the product out and where my skin is bare. My skin is normal to dry, and my climate is not as humid as yours, so it lasts for me a good 10 hours. I'm keeping it for special occasions because the price is a little steep for me, but it's undeniably high-quality and it makes me look and feel fabulous.

I wish Bobbi brown would stop using lavender oil in all her products. I want to try her makeup but I can’t use fragrant essential oils!
I'm 65 and my skin leans dry, especially in winter. Dewy/radiant/glowy/light reflecting makeup looks like grease on my face. If I powder it down it's cake. Not good. Bobbi Brown's stick foundation is my favorite and Porcelain is a perfect shade match.
I have really, really dry skin and I had the same problem with the Bobbi Brown serum foundation. I felt like it made my skin look like a jigsaw puzzle--you put it perfectly that it emphasized texture you didn't know you had. To top it off apparently since the start of my fifties I need a darker shade to have a flattering base and I didn't know that so it was a total fail. I have found one primer that helps it work--the nyx hydrating jelly primer. Also I have to put darkening drops in. Not a repurchase. I just ordered the Nars. I hope it works for me. Our skin types are very different and winter in Ohio is very very dry climate-wise.

I think Bobbi Brown looks and feels like silk on me, and I’m combination acne prone, with texture and dry patches. I live in a very dry climate and it seems to work best for me over less watery primers, even Glossier Future Dew - it goes over Tatcha Silk Canvas, Hourglass primer, and especially Vitamin enriched face base. It’s weird how one person’s holy grail doesn’t work for someone else. Except for NARS tinted moisturizer all of their foundations feel like rubber cement sitting on my face, so I’m a little hesitant about their new one.

And, just recently, I’ve been looking around for a new foundation and the two I am most interested in you addressed, the Charlotte Tilbury and Lisa Eldridge foundations. Yay! I think a good foundation to review , which you do not see too many people do , is smith & cult . At first I was a little on the fence with this . But with the right amount , technique and primer this has become a fav .
I just tried the Lisa Eldridge and the Ch. Tilbury. Both turned peachy on me after application, which was so disappointing, as I really liked the finish of both.

I absolutely love the Lisa Eldridge and the new Chanel No1 foundation. These two worked beautifully on my 62 year old skin. I do live in a humid climate most of the year so I will be excited to see how these hold up in August when we're at 95 degrees with 90% humidty. xoxo

I loved the Charlotte Tilbury one! It works soooo well with my dry skin. The Nars sucked all the hydration out of my skin and it made me look dry… so weird! I think with Charlotte Tilbury one, 1 pump is more than enough.

I think the NARS looked the best on you. A flat matte isn't as flattering, I find, as I'm now 40. I just blot my t-zone and continue on with the glowy look.. I just use Porefessional on my t-zone 🙌
Hi Stephanie, I’m new on your channel and I love it. I’m turning 50 (proudly) in 4 weeks so I love the advice you give being in the same age range and all😉. I started out with this foundation video. You spoke about the Bobbi Brown Foundation and it got me thinking immediately of the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation. I can’t tell how many ways I tried to make it work and how many times I washed my face and started over again. It just doesn’t work for me !! It frustrates the heck out of me. I even contacted their customer services (that was a let down) so the only thing to do was throwing it away. I’m sorry but it was that bad.

Thank you for such a great video! I am so thankful you mentioned the Rose Complex in the new CT foundation! I tried this foundation the other day from a sample I got at Sephora and within an hour of wearing it I could not stop sneezing! It never dawned on me to check the ingredient list! I am allergic to anything rose. I'm bummed because the shade 4N was literally a perfect match.
Love the Eldridge foundation and I do get 8 hours of wear BUT I agree it can be finicky until you find the combo that works for you. Still it’s beautiful on. Have you ever tried the lys serum foundation? I use that as an everyday hydrating foundation that works well with my skincare and sunscreen. It’s very affordable.

Humidity is a killer, I’m in Australia and we are experiencing high humidity atm, makeup just melts off very quickly if in fact I bother at all!
Review any foundation for large pours on very mature skin, sadly they seem to get worse with loss of elasticity. Going back to watch more of your foundation reviews, maybe I'll find the answer there, thanks, love your videos!

I was hoping to hear some magical preparation routine that made the Bobbi Brown work because I had EXACTLY the same problem with it - in some areas it went on fine, in others it wouldn't go on at all, leaving huge gaps. The end result was appalling every time. It's as if I was using too much moisturiser or primer or something, because it just wouldn't blend into my skin at all.
Thank you, Stephanie. I went to the Charlotte Tillsbury counter and I asked the sales women to help me find a shade. But every time she tried to smooth it on my face it pilled. I had a sunscreen on (and I came right from the gym so I had no foundation on). She gave me a little sample and asked me to go home and try to work with it. But everything I tried, just brought out the fine lines in my face and just looked dry or settled in my pores. I always wear a sunscreen and it never worked with them. I tried multiple primers and it was just so so. I forgoed my Vitamin C serum and that helped a little. I sometimes think that the Timeless Vitamin C serum can dry my skin. I live in the Boston area, I have dry skin and mature skin. The heat is always on at my house and everywhere else I go to. The outside weather is very dry and cold, so much so that even my hair has fly away electricity. So it could be that. Maybe in the Summer when it is humid it may work better. Do you use a sunscreen on your face before you apply foundation? If so, which one? Thanks again.
Would love for you to try LYS serum foundation and I just wanted to say I never knew you lived in New Orleans! That was my old stomping ground before marrying and moving to below Baton Rouge. We have just a slightly dryer climate here and my skin has gotten a lot dryer as I age, which is why I purchased the LYS. It goes on beautifully and wears well without drawing too much attention to my skin texture. Just a thought, love your videos and you do them so well.
Finally I found someone with the same skin type as me, I just could not get my expensive bobbi brown serum foundation work on my combination skin, It couldnt sink in and after few hours, it started to get cakey and patchy, I even tried to put a very hydrating base and moisturizer.. So sad it didn't work cuz it is so expensive..

I know this suggestion is probably way off from the brands you prefer, but Stephanie, I would love for you to test out the new one from One Size beauty.. Its called the BBB balm!!! As a 56 y.o. dry person with oily T zone, this BBB balm is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Its LITERALLY a filter in a tube.... I never thought i would ever buy from that brand and I saw one review on it and I was sold... So glad I tried it so randomly BC it is THAT blurring and beautiful on the skin!!! My guess is that it would be very very similar to the Tarte cloud you enjoy so much... This one by One Size is nicely hydrating as well... FILTER FILTER FILTER is all I can say and just beautiful!!!👍👍👍

Glad to see this. Canada Sephora suddenly took Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder off the site! I’m hunting for a replacement in case CT is about to discontinue it in future. I’m not sure I would like that new one and most people are having the same trouble you had. I had been thinking about that NARS one as a replacement. I’m normal to dry in a desert region so it’s probably a fit. Thank you!
So interesting how finicky foundations are especially on mature skin. I’m 53, very fair and extremely dry. I have more wrinkles and fine lines than I like to admit and I’m constantly on the hunt for a holy grail foundation. Other than the Bobbi Brown, I’ve tried every foundation you showcased here. All were complete fails for me except the Nars, which I’d give a shocking 9 out of 10. Loved it! The only reason that I didn’t give it a 10 is because I did feel like I needed to wear a primer with it. Next up for me… the new Chanel foundation which I paid far too much for as I search for my perfect 10 which probably doesn’t even exist. 😂

The Lisa Eldridge has been such a polarizing foundation for me; here in Toronto, it’s the perfect skin-like foundation, but over the holidays, I was in the states visiting my family, and the foundation just always looked off on my skin; but, when I came back home and tried it, it was perfect again. Nars light reflecting just didn't work for me 😭
It was too drying, and I am a 50yr old with oily t-zone /dry everywhere else. Accentuates all my wrinkles unfortunately. Not as good as sheer glow in my opinion Thank you for all your reviews 🙂

I finally purchased Lisa’s foundation after trying samples that came with an eyeshadow purchase. It’s now one of my new holy grails along with the Haus Labs. The Dior Backstage is another especially for warmer weather. Curious to know what the new formula will be like!
