    Kendra, I must say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!! when I saw the stamping tool, I fell in love with it and knew it was a must have. When I saw the price $$$$$. I knew I needed a DIY to make my own. I searched all day for the perfect DIY for this item. Easy Peasy is truly how you made it for me. I am in the process of making my own. Thank you for explaining it in simple, quick, easy peasy terms.

    Great idea! I am going out in the morning to get the supplies & make one. I have wanted a Misti for awhile but won't pay that much.
    One suggestion I thought of is to place a phone book or other item that is an inch thick under the lid when it's open & it would lessen the chance that the plexi glass would warp after using it for awhile. Just a thought Thanks again for the great video.

    Great tutorial! I just made a stamping tool using a couple of flat acrylic document holders I found at Goodwill. This was my prototype, so I didn't use hinges. I had a 1/2" x 1/4" inch strip of wood I used as a spacer at the hinged edge. I used adhesive-backed fun foam on the inside. I thought about using magnets or doing something with easy tack, but decided it's just simpler to use masking tape. I keep a few pieces of it on my stamping tool's lid and reuse them.

    Kendra, I totally disagree with your statement about your tutorials...this was GREAT!! I subscribed because of it!! It made me giggle and I can tell I would love to hang out with you and stamp. I watched several DIY vids, and was prepared {although my hubby was NOT} to make the hour drive to Ikea for that hinged frame but now no need {I thank you on behalf of him}. Thanks for taking the time to do this!! 😍😍
    PS. Just a suggestion, another tutorial mentions Dritz Quilting vinyl template sheets to adhere to the plexiglass. I double checked and they carry it {and some other brands} on amazon.com. Thanks, again!!!

    Glass that thin can break with pressure so I probably wouldn't leave the glass in mine. Especially because it is matted so there is an open area that would be more vulnerable to breaking with pressure. My top sheet is a quilting ruler instead of an Acrylic sheet from home depot. It's clear acrylic with a measuring grid on it so I can make sure my stamps are straight. I actually have a stamping platform that I bought but I just moved and can't find it and I'm involved in a card swap so that's why I'm looking for ideas. Tfs.

    Hey Kendra, I just had to tell you thank you again! I made my 'Pristy' last night AND IT WORKS!!!!! I'm so excited I can't stand it :P My frame depth was different and I couldn't find hinges to work, so I used a pair I'd gotten for a mixed media project - glued them to the outside and got a larger piece of plexiglass and it works great. I couldn't have done this without you! Thank you thank you thank you for your tutorial!!!! You rock!!!! (Would it be okay if I linked this to my facebook?)

  • @nafordebi
    @nafordebi 8 років тому +2

    Ok sooooo I started out with 2 pieces of 12x12 plexiglass, e-6000 the hinges on the inside so it closes correctly, cut the edge borders out of core board, then I started out with a magnetic sheet from DT actually one and a bit of another to make the size needed, all the magnets I tried even strong ones weren't sticking that well so I took out the magnetic sheet and put in a really thin piece of I think it's stainless steel, but it's a really thin metal sheet ( not aluminum)whatever it's made out of , even my poorest magnets stick awesomely now, so the magnetic sheet wasn't the way to go where the metal sheet works way better.... Does that make sense? The magnets even stick over the little b poisition sheet with all the card sizes on it I'll post a better pic on my IG in the am , IF U WANT ME TO, for the foam I just used.a couple of letter sized fun foam for the thinner stamps, let me know if you want more specific info honey, and I needed an extra layer of the fun foam cuz the magnetic sheet was thicker than the metal sheet, hope that's clearer, this works so well now, and I wasted so much time looking for those locker wallpaper magnetic sheets at DT, when turns out I didn't need it at all , the ruler from the we r memory keepers magnetic may set that u showed really holds it straight and is strong ( thanks for that btw) if u didn't show that I wouldn't have even looked twice at that set, xoxo,deb ..... (tigsmom04)

    • @504PrettyThings
      @504PrettyThings  8 років тому

      Deborah viner thanks for your info lady. Girl you should have just made a doggone video!! 😂 Sorry you wasted time looking for the DT sheets! Never would have thought about a metal sheet, btw where did you purchase the sheet, did you have to cut it your self? 12x12 that's huge. I don't need one that big! But I'll watch your IG feed and thanks for saying your name , I never would have figured out you were tigsmom lol

  • @nafordebi
    @nafordebi 8 років тому +1

    I lied mine was 10.48, they have one for 6.48 at Home Depot that's 6"x24" and mine was 12x36

  • @nafordebi
    @nafordebi 8 років тому +2

    Lowes and Home Depot that's where I got the piece it was 24x36 inches for like 6$ and I cut it with the Tim holtz nonstick scissors, they claim they cut metal and they cut it well , I'm going to try and make a video, I really want to start , don't have a ton of down time but wanna try lol .... I know right a video would've been shorter lol , and yeah I didn't think u knew my IG NAME, xoxo I'll post a few pics of the one I did this an some time, and as far as it being so big, who knows when we wanna stamp
    On a larger craft project , that was my thinking anyway lol
