Yeah the biggest issue with watchign this is just the sheer amount of stuff on the screen. Its definitely a confusing setup. Other thne that, the amount of creatures you have is insane, and was a really insane amount of Agents. Your plants feel likes plants which is good too.

@@OfficialEvoSimI think they mean as in body parts can by altered by evolution. new parts, destroyed parts, fused parts (if it is very segmented like a bug or spine). even size and position. and these could change their performance

had the same thing! I love evolution stuff like this, but for some reason youtube decided to not give me this for so long
You could add selection pressures that are randomly evolved such as plant colour that can affect the way the animals in that environment will evolve to create different microsystems around the map.
factors could be things like the rain, heat, height, wind which can affect things like plant height, certain sizes of body parts etc.
I expect that would be pretty hard to implement but from what you've done it looks great so far
The wind and rain already have an effect on plants, as in windy weather can knock plants over and flooding can also kill them, any other ideas I'd love to try and add!
Temperature is a good idea, can't belive I forgot about it XD
Coo video but the the simulation is a bit confusing (=there is too much on the screeb and also the camera is moving through the terrain) would reccomend making the camera look a bit more from the top

I think you should add animals eating each other, but first you need to optimize.
For example, I saw many stutterings in the recording which could be because of garbage collection, and distracted me very much.
I also think the art style is very hard to read, and could be simplified or could be clearer.
Otherwise, this is a very impressive project. Good job!

Like for example:
- evolution 1, fish
- evolution 2, land dwellers
Etc
Predator vs prey mechanics. Larger Predators are more dangerous, but smaller prey species could maybe be able to burrow and make dens underground. But you could also have snake like creatures evolve to be able to hunt underground natural caves of all sizes and prey dens. Then a biological arms race starts. Venom, claws, jaws, armor. Small flyers, they have to evolve from jumping from tree to tree all the way to flight. Just throwing out anything I personally would like to see in this kind of game. Im sure ill think of more 😂

This is awesome! The simulation is solid and art style is charming, reminds me of SimEarth. I really vibe with the cute fishes and the procedural trees all being unique as per how they evolve. Definitely excited to see where this project goes.
What would seal the deal from a user perspective 3D free rotating camera. The forced perspective approach that you have done shows it's possible, though from experience, I do realize performing rotations is a little magic. The difficulty of adding that depends on the the engine, of course, but even doing a simple voxel greedy mesh for the terrain and camera facing sprites for the creatures and plants would do wonders for readability. Quaternions and crazy matrix math non-withstanding ;)

I absolutely love this! Visually, though, it does seem a bit hard to tell what's happening. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why that is. But I do think one of the main issues might be the variation in color among different body segments. I guess you could address that by assigning organisms a primary and secondary color, possibly incorporating patterns to maintain that feeling of diversity (if that's what you're going for)?
But honestly, it's not a huge thing. Can't wait to see where you take this :]

Also you mentioned early land plants relying on moist environments, have you considered having that apply to the creatures as well/does it already?
