Whoa! It feels like I looked down for one second, and Etho takes his longest LP hiatus ever. This episode came 97 days after the last, beating out the episode 516-517 gap which was 71 days! #EthosMath
In a UA-cam of today, with sponsors and advertisements, it is great to see how Etho runs his channel. Not asking for likes, not asking for subscriptions, not having sponsored episodes, not having any sort of clickbait. He's made it on UA-cam, with (as of right now) 2.26 million subscribers, with a loyal fanbase, and makes the videos that makes him happy. Myself and others are in awe by how you run your channel Etho, and are very thankful for all the hard work you've put in over the years!
This, and the fact that Etho doesn't use crazy semi-clickbait thumbnails like most big youtubers. idk why but those over the top thumbnails really bug me and it's refreshing to see a normal thumbnail taken from footage in the video
Amen, I hate youtube is now full of the WHAT"S GOING ON GUYS, SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!!! IT"S OUR @$ HOUR FORTNIGHT PRANK CHALLENGE VIDEO. Etho is the best
What's wrong with having sponsored episodes? The creator gets more money and you can literally skip through their ad, it's beneficial for the youtuber and comes at no cost to the viewers.
One of the coolest things about this series is how long it's been going. By leaving the sections of the man-cave how they were when you built them, it creates little snapshots of how Minecraft was played throughout the years. You can tell how old different rooms are based on what's in them. "Oh that room is using the wooden doors with the dark oak planks, it must have been built before the door variants." That is such a cool aspect of the man-cave.
I entirely agree with you. And I think that cosmetic updates can be made elsewhere...but the mancave is a major nostalgia trip for all of us viewers. I think you (Etho) should leave it how it is. 😏
"I would rather be happy than growing my numbers and stuff" -Mr. Slab We love you for it Etho. One of the many reasons we all keep coming back. We would all much rather you be happy, regardless of what you decide to do.
Ngl i was missing etho big time, thinking like 'why he no upload' and that part nearly brought me to tears... it's so true that we would rather have a happy etho. I would also like to add that i'd happily watch other etho content! like whatever game you're playing if you feel like you could make content with it I'm down. I'd love to hear about the foods you hate like onions!
Etho, next time can you release a compilation of your other games when you play them? I dont think that uploading other things would do well, but i like seeing what you got up to in a week. Or however long ;)
@@joetwiddy2139 Etho could do nothing but talk over front of a white screen and most of us would watch earnestly. Like an old friend, etho has become something so special to all of us. Especially when we get to hear tid-bits about his life that make him even more relatable
@@drako3659 but he has NEVER cared about them. notice how slow and steady his growth has been in comparison to other creators. those 3rd life and hermitcraft sub count videos really showed me how slow of a game hes playing.
Hey Ergo. you've been playing Minecraft for a decade now, and just like with anything you can burnout. I think I speak on behalf of your long-time viewers when I say that when the time comes, don't be afraid to pursue other games/titles/ventures. We watch you because of the great person you are, and as your viewers; your happiness is the most important thing to us.
In terms of updating the man cave, I think it's a decent idea. Maybe instead of changing up the existing builds though, which have something of a classic feel to them, you could carve new pathways through the mancave and decorate those with the new blocks. Like when I think of the man cave, I always think of how dense it is in terms of underground space being used - you can hardly dig into most walls without running into something. Might be fun to carve out even more space, and add some narrow staircases cutting through various areas. I think having narrow, lush, twisting passages would add to the base while still preserving the old designs. Another thing is the addition of the tinted glass. I think it might be a decent project to run around and re-do some spawners with that stuff. Definitely gives more potential to have more open spawning rooms, and bigger/brighter decorations around them. I feel like it's something that modded has had forever that vanilla has really been missing.
I agree with this. I like that there's areas within the world that visually look and feel older, it really shows that there's history to the world. Like his Nether hub, if built today, would probably have purple concrete and smooth sandstone instead of purple wool and normal sandstone, but the fact it doesn't use those blocks really shows that the world is lived-in and pretty much ancient, but in a good way.
The thing about ergo posting what he wants and posting when he wants is that he has grown a very dedicated fanbase. Many of us have been around for almost a decade and we have seen you develop and ourselves develop. I still get excited and giddy when I see the notification come up for a new UA-cam video from “Ethoslab” and I have to go grab my snacks and drinks just so I am prepared to lose myself and enjoy my 30 or so minutes of amazing content.
etho is the only person for whos channel i actively go to. I remember "hey, I havent seen a video. did I miss a notification?" and then ill go (most of the time he hasnt uploaded but sometimes I had indeed missed an upload). he really has have a truly dedicated fan base. He isnt a 10M sub channel, but the subs he has are active. If you look at some channels that have 5M+ subs, sometimes they're only pulling 50k views. a lot of it is inactive subs but I dont feel like thats the case for etho
He is literally the most dedicated person on UA-cam, the most consistent one as well, delivering the same high quality content for 10 years (that I've known him)
"Bad way to grow your channel" he says with 2.2 million subs. That's why everybody likes him, because he doesn't give a crap about the social media UA-cam stuff. While everyone else is begging, Etho has a pretty massive following without ever doing that. No cross channel advertising, no social media marketing, no Patron, no selling merchandise, not even a face, nothing. So I think that sticking to what you believe is a great way to grow a channel. From my point of view this is the most authentic channel on all of UA-cam, and if it lost that I'm fairly confident it would lose followers rather than gain them.
This is so true. I have gone through many phases in my life since I found Etho. Sometimes I get busy and take a break from watching. But when I want to come back he has been here and has stayed true to his nature. It's rare on this platform nowadays to find a channel like that, and it's why Etho will keep my subscription and many fond memories to me.
@@DrDevon23 yes for sure same here. I’ve been watching etho for at years now and it has been with me in the multiple milestones of my life. He’s the best person on the internet and there’s no one else like him for sure!
No, he would definitely gain subs if he did the thing, but it definitely wouldn't be him. Lol everyone in like UHC and stuff always trolls him by asking everyone to like his videos 😂😂😂 he sat at 1.9 mil for about 4-5 years though when Minecraft was kinda dead. It was awesome to see him hit 2 mil finally
I think it is funny to say its an authentic channel even when he says he think it as a hobby. Like we really dont know much about etho outside of minecraft and although that is fine as decade old fan I am super curious. Its both authentic but also distant. What other hobbies does etho have, is he living alone, how is his sleepschedule and other stuff? Thats why I am not sure its a authentic but the channel is freaking great.
Etho, as an extremely long time viewer I can say that the way you view your channel, is exactly what keeps us coming back. I have taken multiple year gaps from playing Minecraft, and have still watched every single video you release during those times simply for the reason that to me, like so many others, this channel feels like home. Keep doing what your doing and staying loyal to the morals you have in place. The numbers don’t matter, what matters is the impact you’ve had on all of us and I can’t wait to see you continue to do what makes you happy :)
True fans understand the value of a content creator like you, who uploads what he wants whenever he wants. We will always be sure to get episodes packed with dedication, love and fun. And even if we have to wait for a long time here and then, there will eventually always be "another episode". Thanks for entertaining us all these years!
@@TNTflames he really is. He's gotten me through genuinely traumatic experiences and i respect him for that. Never knew a Minecraft channel could have impacted my life so much
Hey Etho, about the Man Cave, I kind of like that it has stayed pretty close to what it was originally, I like the nostalgia seeing it after having watched for many years. For the new updates, I like seeing you experiment with the new features, and attempt new things within the update. Keep up the great work, and upload whenever you want, I'm always happy to watch!
Etho, it’s in fact good to hear that you do this for fun and not as a regular job. I guess that’s why your content feels so unique and fresh. Watching your videos feels a bit like listening to an old friend, even if we never meet and prolly never will. Please keep doing what you want to do, as long as you want. Thanks for years of fun and inspiration, you and your fellow Hermits keeps luring me back to play Minecraft again and again!
The way he worded it does make me wonder about how he earns a living, because he started doing UA-cam full-time many years ago, but he phrases it now as a "hobby." Which either means he's doing something else on the side to supplement his UA-cam hobby or that doing it as a hobby is enough to sustain his way of life. He definitely puts a lot of time into this so I'd imagine it would be hard to hold a full-time job on the side so I hope his casual UA-cam hobby is enough money wise.
@@martacore He later said (after he stopped working at the greenhouse) that he doesn't want us to know very much about his personal life, so I doubt he'll say what his new job is, if he has one.
@@killerbee.13 it's entirely possible he's got a large investment fund and lives off that. He's been in the game a long time and he's pretty frugal (evidenced by how long he rocked a completely busted headset that was taped together multiple times). I just get the feeling he isn't one for material wealth.
i like the older, unaltered sections of The Mancave. It shows how youve improved your building prowess and how the game has progressed over time. In some ways it shows the age of the world through the buildings themselves. For example, I love that you still have Zenith behind the Windows glass from when Microsoft purchased Mojang, makes me smile every time I see it.
my thoughts exactly! maybe he could insert the newer blocks into newer sections of the cave though, like he did with the crying obsidian in the concrete converter
I would love to see lil pockets in the mancave dedicated to certain updates. maybe a hallway has the new ores and some deepslate in the walls. etc. lil' one off nudges to the updates passed. and yeah upgrading the mancave would be lovely. it might be scary, but changing is good! "kill your darlings" and all that.
Seeing lots of comments on here and i want to weigh in as well, even though it will probably get lost in the comment ocean. I watch YOU, not what you do, for my relaxing entertainment. You are positive, fun, witty, and unexpected. Not flashy, attention, clickbaity, or immature (well maybe a litte bit😉). I enjoy your modded, your LP, your non-minecraft, your HC all equally because Im here to watch YOU. Dont ever stop being you, and Ill watch you to whomever between the two of us dies first. Start a new world, update mancave, quit minecraft or play pokemon green in japanese: i dont care, it will all be blast as long as you are doing what you like and being kind and gracious enough to share with us! My kids have even started watching "Esho" over my shoulder... Thanks for whomever reads this! Have a great day!
I'd say definitely keep the old parts of your base. It'll be cool to look back and see how much it keeps changing. It's like, if you buy a house in the past, you'll eventually keep updating the decor, instead of keeping what was available to you back then.
Hey Etho, just wanted to say thank you for making videos all these years. I started watching in middle school and I’m now married. Recently my wife gave birth to our first child, we hope to show him your videos one day. My wife and I love your videos, and appreciate the hard work that you put into each and everyone of them. Keep up the fantastic work!
Oh wow it's been *3 months* since the last episode of the let's play series. I don't think there's ever been that long of a gap between episodes. Not that I mind though, I've loved the Hermitcraft content. Feels really good to have the let's play series back though :) Edit: "I would rather be happy than, like, growing my numbers and stuff." You being happy makes all of us happy. Keep being you and doing what you want to do!
For what it’s worth l love the way you do your channel, not chasing numbers. I know why other people do it but it’s still a breath of fresh air to have someone resist that culture!
I’m honestly amazed how long this series has lasted, I have went through my entire school life watching Etho and I’m pretty sure almost all of it he was playing on this world
Etho was one of the first UA-camrs I remember actually following when I was a kid, long before I even had an account to subscribe. Now as an adult I still put down almost everything to watch whenever a new video comes out lol
started watching in grade 7, almost finished my 5-year university degree now lol. I honestly appreciate this series so much. It's like the only thing that has remained constant in my life for the past decade
When I was a kid my friends and I found his boat dispenser video cause we wanted to try and make a canal network I was probably like 9 or 10 I’m going into my 4th year of college now it’s crazy. I’ve been watching ever since
Etho, your mentality and approach to youtube is what has kept me coming back and back for literally years. I watched you as a kid, I watched you through uni, I watched you after I got married, I watched you while working my first jobs, and still watch you today
Hey Etho! Just wanted to let you know that you have to enable the Caves and Cliffs datapack to find the giant ore veins. They're not in vanilla until 1.18. Also, since you asked, geodes randomly generate in 1 in 53 chunks. They *can* spawn adjacent to each other but it's just rare because 1 in 53 is pretty big; there is an average of 1 geode in a 116x116 area.
Idk if this is Ethos main source of income but the fact that it's been 10 years and you still manage to keep it as a 'hobby' shows the strength of the community you have build. We live everything you build and we understand if you need a break, just excited for the new videos and as long as you're enjoying it, so will we.
I’m preaching to the choir here and I know it. 02/19/13 is the day I subscribed to this channel. To emphasize. 3048 days ago from today I decided to stick around. (Was watching before that just didn’t have a UA-cam account). It’s very nostalgic to me to even hear your voice. I’m 25 this week, haven’t touched Minecraft since I was 19, and yet I still continue to watch your videos. I don’t know if I can put into words how someone you’ve never met or even seen has affected your life. But I can assure you I will watch your videos till there is no more new ones to watch. Then I will restart from the beginning. It’s weird to say I will not forget someone I haven’t met, but simply I won’t. You have an awesome personality and it will stick with me forever. Keep doing you etho. We will we keep coming back.
It’s so cool to know that Minecraft devs get in touch with Etho. I’ve always hoped that they ask him his opinion on the game because he has such great insight and loves it so much.
I wish that they made glow berries into a brewing ingredient to make a potion of glowing then perhaps if you used a fermented spider eye to corrupt the potion it could make a potion of blindness. Both are effects in the game that do not have potions.
Yeah, that's a great idea honestly. I'm actually pretty disappointed we didn't get the bundles in this update too with all the new items you want to try and collect as you explore the world and new caves8. Given it a good bit of thought too and it's definitely a perfect item for starter and loot chests to introduce them to the player I think. Also wish moss generated in some parts of the overworld like in the giant spruce forests, and spreading moss was able convert cobble/brick blocks to mossy cobble/mossy bricks
I was actually thinking of this while he was talking about how it'd be cool if they made you highlighted. I think it'd be cool if you ate one, your character would glow like you emit a low light level for several seconds, but then you could make a potion with them that made you glow brighter for a lot lighter
Yes yes YES! I am 1000% in support of a Man Cave glow up with all the new 1.17 stuff here’s why: 1) Glow berry vines are beautiful and also the perfect tool in the everlasting quest to eliminate torch spam 2) The Man Cave is a cave (newsflash I know). Stalactites make caves cooler. That’s just a fact. 3) I am convinced moss was added for Etho so that grass can be the same beautiful green in every biome. It belongs in the cave. 4) Flowering azalea leaves peppered into the foliage in the roof would look amazing. I could see an entire episode of Etho just going room to room sprucing up each section of the cave. If I had to pick a single room tho it would definitely be the glass bridge hallway in that big brick lined tunnel between the potion lab and the village. It’s been my favorite room in the man cave since it was built, and it would just pop with all the new 1.17 stuff sprinkled in. #ManCaveMakeover
@@johnpauldieterich3432 I mean a lot of people ignore them. I'm on year 5 of my current world and haven't mined diamonds in a few years. I have no need for them after getting a few stacks.
Etho, regarding the Man Cave, I think that, if you think of something and go "Oh hey, that would look pretty cool", you should totally go for it. However, I also think it's not good to force yourself to redecorate the whole thing each new update. I don't think you should feel obligated to keep it looking the same nor obligated to change everything up. At the end of the day, like you said, if you're not happy with what you're doing, it's not good. I personally find your interior decorating skills inspiring but you have lots more things you can do with your time in-game that you enjoy as well. 👍🏼😄👍🏼
i’ll go ahead and second this. like the idea of adding some slabs to help round out an area that may need it would be perfect! but if you feel an area is “finished” as far as aesthetics go, then its finished. just touch it up if it needs it :)
On one hand, it's neat that it's such a time capsule in terms of building. And Etho can go crazy on his other builds with the new stuff no problem (Especially his beatification project). But on the other hand, an updated man cave would be amazing to see. And as you said, not EVERY new update should mean "Time to redecorate the man cave", but if a few updates have passed and etho feels like sprucing the place up he should totally be able to do it.
When it comes to updating the man cave with the new blocks, personally I like the out dated look of it, it brings so much nostalgia. It's cool to see that after so many years of watching your series, the man cave is still there bringing back so many memories. But if you want to update it I'll be fine with that too!
I feel like part of the charm with the man cave is seeing the different parts of it that were built in different updates and how you incorporated the new blocks. It's like a timeline of Minecraft in one base
I'm torn between keeping the mancave as a museum / historical record, and enhancing it. I would suggest keeping most of it as it is, and then improving the main area we see every episode. Would love to see it with "natural" light like glowberries, lichen and the glowshrooms!
I’m against changing the main room of it, because I find it nostalgic to see that room. I remember Etho biulding that lava creeper face originally, and it really takes me back to see it… that said, I think that new blocks should be added to the rest of it, in bits and pieces. The river’s roof, as an example, could do with some stalactites, and perhaps he could replace some of those odd shiny gems in the walls with something actually valuable, like the mountain emeralds.
I was just about to make a comment like this! It's so cool to see the mancave as sort of a time capsule of older minecraft versions with the older palettes. But at the same time I'm so curious to see what Etho could pull off with the new blocks and new building options! I think enhancing it is the best mix of blending in the new and the old to make something nostalgic almost?
Loyal fan for a very long time I have been watching you since 3rd or 4th grade and now I soon start college. I can’t thank you enough for providing interesting content in an ever changing internet landscape. Your content remains a content in my life and appreciate all that have you have done for UA-cam and a whole generation of kids now turned adults. It’s so good I might cry
The Man Cave is literally a part of Minecraft history. I feel that changing it every update would be a mistake. It has a charm that you can’t replicate in “new” Minecraft.
Being a long time viewer of 8-9 years, I feel some nostalgia towards keeping the mancave how it is; but really, I think you should enhance it and make it the best it can be. There are episodes that showcases the mancave in its previous stages; there are world downloads with the previous versions. I'd argue that there's no reason not to enhance the mancave other than nostalgia. Go for it! I'd love to see what you could do with it. Seeing what you could do with your base in Hermitcraft S7, I wouldn't be surprised if you could really improve the mancave. Especially with all the new blocks that have been added the past 5 years; not to mention the foliage added this past update! Hope you see this comment. Always loved your content, always will. Never mine those diamonds. ;) Edit: Massive respect for taking a break when you need to. Quality > Quantity, always. I'd rather watch a happy Etho than an annoyed or exhausted Etho!
i agree! it would be cool to see new blocks appear around the mancave esp the new plants. and for the ppl who have previous world downloads it would be interesting to compare different versions and see how the mancave evolves as the game updates :)
I think the best way for him to "enhance" the man cave is to enhance small sections at a time, when normal maintenance needs to happen. Basically, wait until he would already be tearing apart a build to change it to impliment changes. The mancave is massive, sprawling, and contiguous meaning that there are no/few clear lines of where to stop working and it would be easy to burn out if he tries to do too much at once.
I think he'd do a good job of keeping the qualities that make the man cave unique, while also giving it a fresh look with all the new blocks. Been watching this series for almost a decade, I think it'd be cool to change things up a bit.
Rather then enhancing the man cave, you could try building another one with modern blocks with the ultimate goal being to join up to the current man cave, however this would be a pretty big project so you could just extend the current man cave only using modern blocks. Just an idea though you decide what’s best for the world.
The cave is always changing, maybe its the addition of a mural or the ender porter but little by little the cave is always changing. If you think the cave could be better with these additions then go ahead. The cave as it was won't be lost. It is still preserved in world downloads, videos, and the memories of all who saw it grow.
I love the man cave, it feels like a second home after watching so many episodes and I would love to see it change and evolve with your new building skill. The old man cave would still be available in world downloads for anyone feeling nostalgic.
I'm a relatively new follower (thanks to hermitcraft), but I wanted to say thank you for being true to you rather than the algorithm. I know it's a challenge either way, but I'm glad to hear that you're trying to be sustainable and just have fun. Honestly that's one of the reasons I wanted to check out your channel and now why I follow you more closely. Looking forward to going through more of your old videos/series as time permits
I'd like to recommend checking out Etho's Modded Minecraft also. He had to stop after a while due to technical issues, but modded blocks really let his unique building styles run wild. And Etho with ComputerCraft is a force to be reckoned with.
Etho’s an anomaly in the MC community. He’s been playing on YT since alpha, hasn’t updated his channel in years, and doesn’t bootlick a geen cheater for clout, yet he’s still as popular as he was 6 years ago
One of my favourite of the later classics was Crash Landing, absolutely loved that series and still remember every episode. As others said, also check out team canada stuff (with pause and beef), they have modded and vanilla content. My favourites were Complete the Monument series, like the old ones (uncharted territory)
When you were talking about not caring about the numbers because there are more important things in life made me really respect even more. The more I watch your videos the more I respect you and your way of doing things, nowadays people just clickbait or put crazy thumbnails for views and they ask for you to subscribe and click the like button but you don’t and I love that! You’re just doing you and that’s awesome!
Etho, I'm glad that you aren't focusing on numbers and decided to upload when and what you want. That is overall more beneficial for your channel as you already have a super loyal fanbase and it allows you to create better content. When UA-camrs are burnt out and don't feel like uploading or don't make content that they want, the content feels forced, so I'm glad you decided to take a break. I'm glad that you kept UA-cam as a hobby and prioritize your happiness. Even though you don't upload very often, everytime I see a notification from your channel, I have a smile on my face. Keep up the good work Etho!
I never consider anything I do in Minecraft ever truly finished. That mindset allows you to make changes and alterations as you see fit. It's your world. Go for it!
13:00 *Answering Etho's question* There is no code to prevent geodes from generating close to one another however, the most I have ever seen is 3 within 40 blocks of a player (Any budding amethyst would grow crystals within 128 blocks of the player). By themselves, they seem more common than a dungeon spawner but finding a group of them together feels as rare as finding a group of spawners. The only code that exists that would prevent one from generating is that they can not generate floating midair, they have to be at least partially connected to the ground somehow.
Basically, just use chunkbase, its seedmap is amazing and enough praises can't be sung. That said, if you consider looking up locations cheating don't use it. But i find it helpful to not waste time searching for things or interesting biomes. I assume etho used it to find his ocean monument in his "plains" biome.
re: updating the Man Cave - i'd say some minor changes that add visual interest while keeping the original feel of the base would be ideal. some decorating with stone slabs and stairs, maybe throw in some andesite too. Mix some azalea and flowering azalea leaves in to the mix, maybe put some moss in with the grass (and add more hidden lighting with the carpets).
I feel like there's nothing wrong with updates and evolution to reflect the new patches since the historical versions are still going to be preserved in the videos and past world downloads so it's not like you're actually destroying them. IMO it's quite a nice artistic idea to see how the cave evolves over time to reflect the changes of the game and world around it.
Realistically, he could find the coordinates of everything he has built in the outer reaches of his world and trim the chunks back, like how the end islands get pruned in Hermitcraft. (Unless you requested something like a trapped wither get preserved) But his world is huge.
Hi Etho! I have some suggestions for how to do the Minecraft knowledge facility thing. It would probably be good to have a room dedicated to villagers and I have an idea of how to implement certain parts of it. First of all, it would be cool to have each type of villager (swamp, jungle, etc.) up on display with the ability to switch their professions (maybe using a piston feed tape?). Second of all, you could simplify the trading "tests (testing how likely they are to trade certain items)" by just providing a villager breeder, the ability to choose the profession of the villager that comes out, and lots of materials to allow the villager to easily be leveled up. If you're following the same idea as the block room then it might also be nice to have ways to raise/lower prices such as killing villagers, de-zombiefying, and wining raids. You've probably already thought about most of this, but I figured I'd post it just in case you haven't.
I'm mixed on redecorating the man cave because that thing is so iconic at this point. But at the same time i love your current building style so much and the curiosity of what it could like now kinda gets to me. So I think you could go either way.
I mean, its preserved in world backups/downloads and via the 10 year long series that he's uploaded to youtube... So I think its fine if he upgraded the building pallet..
He should do a new area in the cave and decorate it with the new blocks (like a stalagmites farm) if the new blocks fit in well then he should test and see how they look in the older areas
personally i really like the way each area shows different eras of the game, seeing it transition from basic blocks to all the new stuff is super sweet but a rework of the cave?? :pepewoah: it sounds awesome and i'd love to see how etho would make it work
Etho is just fun. I love how he appreciates the game for what it is. Not liking how villagers give you everything and wants to encourage mining. He’s so much fun to watch play minecraft
I strongly disagree with the idea that villagers give you everything. Everything HE needs, maybe, but the things I need are always what the villagers are buying, not selling, and most of the time they don't buy nor sell it. Villagers are a missed opportunity and could have been implemented so much better.
I feel like for some of the really iconic parts of the base like the creeper face you should mostly leave the same, maybe touch it up with the stone slabs but not too much, for other parts i think it would be awesome to see how you can incorporate the new stuff and just go crazy with it.
I got into the serious late. I started watching during the start of the COVID lockdown. I have never really watched anyone play in older versions of Minecraft before and I found it fascinating and I love seeing how Minecraft has changed. That is the point of your world I think. It’s such an old world and that’s the great appeal. Do not change your old builds keep them the way they are.
I really love the idea that with each update the mancave gets an upgrade, it would add some more uniqueness to each of the world downloads by having a sorta archive of how the cave changed from time to time, and I would just really love to see the classic elements of the cave modernized with your new build style,
HOME MAKEOVER!! I've been watching your videos for years and I absolutely love the man cave vibe and how it looks but with all the new blocks you could improve everything so much and get a nice refresh and reason to revisit old rooms and areas
The way you only post what you want to post and what you find enjoyable is what keeps me on edge to watch more of your videos. Everything is so much more enjoyable to watch when you’re as excited about it as we are.
Has etho ever talked about why he hasn't created a second channel? His Minecraft channel has had a long-term Minecraft-only subscriber base so I understand why he doesn't want to post too much other stuff on his main Channel but why not a second channel for lower effort chill etho content with no constraints to genre/game.
I'd rather have an episode every two weeks and celebrate it than having an episode every day and dreading it. This way, busting out the snacks to watch one of your episodes actually feels special.
Man, I'd be a fan to watch you game anything. Ark was awesome to go through the series and when you guys coop through... makes it all the sweeter. Much love, Levi.
I've grown up watching these videos (12 -> 22) and every single upload just brings me so much joy. Etho's personality is so fun and cheerful and it feels great to sit down, get some snacks and watch an Etho video. Please never stop.
I think it'd be awesome to see some of the new flowering leaves thrown into the ceiling of your man cave. And also some glow vines in some areas could definitely look nice. LOVED your answer to that question, enjoying life always comes first :)
Personally, I feel that since this is the Caves and Cliffs update, if there was any time to update the Man Cave it'd be now. There's so much new stuff for caves, after all!
I like watching these Minecraft update videos. You always seem so happy to find the new added ideas. It was the same for 1.20. It is also good to watch videos I haven’t watched yet. What ever UA-cam suggests, I have been watching. It is also fun to guess when in the LP timeline these videos fit in. It is like a little game I have now. The when and where game.
On the subject of updating the mancave; Etho you're an awesome builder, don't let the nostalgia attached to the mancave stop you from improving it, and by doing so improving your already awesome builds. My suggestion would be to keep maybe the super iconic parts like the creeper face area very similar to how they are in order to preserve that nostalgia but don't worry about the majority of it. Besides when you go back and look at the mancave, you have been updating it with changes all the time really. the wall art you did a while back, hidden enderchests in the main staircase, and the update to the smelting. The mancave updates all the time, don't hold yourself back!
For the man cave improvement thing, I think it’s a good direction to go in with subtlety adding some of the new blocks from updates in, but leaving majority of the man cave the same. It could be a nice way to show how old the man cave is, seeing a progression of how it was designed back in the day when mc was more limited, then touches of new blocks/lighting added in around the cave to represent updates and stuff but not too in your face, just nice things to notice but not grab your attention, I think that would please the majority. In my most personal opinion though I tend to fall in line with what you were talking about at the end of your video, you doing what you enjoy is what makes your best content, I loved this episode because you were having a blast coming back and exploring the new update and doing what YOU wanted to do, not chasing the views, and that’s what you’ve always done. What I would want done to the man cave, is whatever you want done to it.
I always love reading the comments because Etho have such an amazing fanbase. We must be one of the most supportive fanbases on all of UA-cam. And I’m sure it’s a reflection of who we are all watching :)

Myself and others are in awe by how you run your channel Etho, and are very thankful for all the hard work you've put in over the years!
and still has incredible numbers on his videos, probably gets great money from doing something for fun as well which is great
This, and the fact that Etho doesn't use crazy semi-clickbait thumbnails like most big youtubers. idk why but those over the top thumbnails really bug me and it's refreshing to see a normal thumbnail taken from footage in the video
@@gametheory3458 because Etho isn’t doing it for the money, it’s a hobby

We love you for it Etho. One of the many reasons we all keep coming back. We would all much rather you be happy, regardless of what you decide to do.
Ngl i was missing etho big time, thinking like 'why he no upload' and that part nearly brought me to tears... it's so true that we would rather have a happy etho.
Thats a really cool idea!
Really cool ideas, and don't be harsh on yourself they aren't decent they are good
I agree with this.
Agreed
Agreed! I almost like the idea of starting a hallway that progresses through the updates as you walk down it.
Ergo's fanbase is like the youtube equivalent of "having the right friends is better than having many friends"
He is literally the most dedicated person on UA-cam, the most consistent one as well, delivering the same high quality content for 10 years (that I've known him)
Yeah same
Literally so relatable
"Bad way to grow your channel" he says with 2.2 million subs. That's why everybody likes him, because he doesn't give a crap about the social media UA-cam stuff. While everyone else is begging, Etho has a pretty massive following without ever doing that. No cross channel advertising, no social media marketing, no Patron, no selling merchandise, not even a face, nothing. So I think that sticking to what you believe is a great way to grow a channel. From my point of view this is the most authentic channel on all of UA-cam, and if it lost that I'm fairly confident it would lose followers rather than gain them.
a bit like rlm in being this consistent for over a decade
This is so true. I have gone through many phases in my life since I found Etho. Sometimes I get busy and take a break from watching. But when I want to come back he has been here and has stayed true to his nature. It's rare on this platform nowadays to find a channel like that, and it's why Etho will keep my subscription and many fond memories to me.

That is a really good idea that I never thought of and I think in would be a good introduction into the game
That is a great idea!
If you haven't already, I'd actually send this suggestion to Mojang, it is something that makes more than enough sense.
I was actually thinking of this while he was talking about how it'd be cool if they made you highlighted. I think it'd be cool if you ate one, your character would glow like you emit a low light level for several seconds, but then you could make a potion with them that made you glow brighter for a lot lighter
Yes yes YES! I am 1000% in support of a Man Cave glow up with all the new 1.17 stuff here’s why:
1) Glow berry vines are beautiful and also the perfect tool in the everlasting quest to eliminate torch spam
2) The Man Cave is a cave (newsflash I know).

^^
i’ll go ahead and second this. like the idea of adding some slabs to help round out an area that may need it would be perfect! but if you feel an area is “finished” as far as aesthetics go, then its finished. just touch it up if it needs it :)
On one hand, it's neat that it's such a time capsule in terms of building. And Etho can go crazy on his other builds with the new stuff no problem (Especially his beatification project). But on the other hand, an updated man cave would be amazing to see. And as you said, not EVERY new update should mean "Time to redecorate the man cave", but if a few updates have passed and etho feels like sprucing the place up he should totally be able to do it.
i was thinking the exact same think, shouldn't feel forced to add stuff every update, just stuff he thinks is especially cool
Yeah... Etho is big on not using torches in the man cave. It might be nice to see glow berries being used!
what are the glowshrooms?
You could use the new features as accents, butI don’t think that you should change the core look of it.
True that
Maybe in other area using new items would be cool but keeping the man cave the same is best IMO
I think a little expansion every update would be cool, it sort of keeps a record of what’s new and interesting but etho does that pretty well already.
A 16 block long themed adition to a corydoor each update would be cool so you can walk through the minecraft timeline
Agreed
Never mine those diamonds. ;)

i agree! it would be cool to see new blocks appear around the mancave esp the new plants. and for the ppl who have previous world downloads it would be interesting to compare different versions and see how the mancave evolves as the game updates :)
Agree, we still can see mancave on older episode anyway. Enhancing it sounds nice. I love base progression.
I think he'd do a good job of keeping the qualities that make the man cave unique, while also giving it a fresh look with all the new blocks. Been watching this series for almost a decade, I think it'd be cool to change things up a bit.
Agreed
Rather then enhancing the man cave, you could try building another one with modern blocks with the ultimate goal being to join up to the current man cave, however this would be a pretty big project so you could just extend the current man cave only using modern blocks. Just an idea though you decide what’s best for the world.
The cave is always changing, maybe its the addition of a mural or the ender porter but little by little the cave is always changing.
If you think the cave could be better with these additions then go ahead.
The cave as it was won't be lost. It is still preserved in world downloads, videos, and the memories of all who saw it grow.
Yeah, it's saved in past downloads, and Etho has actively included a number of other updates like glowstone. He should totally update the cave.
I love the man cave, it feels like a second home after watching so many episodes and I would love to see it change and evolve with your new building skill. The old man cave would still be available in world downloads for anyone feeling nostalgic.
Last time I played Minecraft was back in 2012, and here I am still watching Ethos videos when I get a chance. Time really flies quick!
"its really nice to have two of every animal in your Nether Hub. Two donkeys, two goats, two chickens, two horses, two..... villagers"
Sounds like the ark.
Humans are animals too
In the Bible story Noah had 7 of each of the Kosher animals I think. I guess inbreeding isn’t a problem in Minecraft though! X
You're in for a trip - and a treat! :D
Look at the videos that he does with beef and pause those are some of the best classics.
7:48 I was sitting there wondering why he skipped mining the blue ores on the ground and then realized, it's just classic etho
Gets me every time
He doesn't need more diamonds because he already has netherite armor
Honestly its not an etho lets play world video if he doesn't ignore the blue ores when they're present
Wow, you can really tell in Etho's videos when he's on his game. His energy so positive and infectious. It is so fun to watch! ❤
Yeah, he was having such a good time. He loves caving so a cave update suits him! ;)
Just a stray thought, are you altering the world gen from Amplified to default for the second wave of 1.17 updates concerning the cliffs aspect?
Etho, I'm glad that you aren't focusing on numbers and decided to upload when and what you want. That is overall more beneficial for your channel as you already have a super loyal fanbase and it allows you to create better content. When UA-camrs are burnt out and don't feel like uploading or don't make content that they want, the content feels forced, so I'm glad you decided to take a break. I'm glad that you kept UA-cam as a hobby and prioritize your happiness. Even though you don't upload very often, everytime I see a notification from your channel, I have a smile on my face. Keep up the good work Etho!
The glow berries would looks so cool in the man cave.
I wouldn't object to adding to it but changing what's already there feels like destroying history to me.
I'd rather see it in further expansions, not in old areas, unless it's something that's a pretty big deal (like when a mechanic breaks entirely).
Imagine a Fall/Autumn biome with trees with different leaf colours ranging from yellow to red of course. I feel like that would be awesome!
“We don’t have to go too far away to find new chunks”
28 000 blocks later.
LOL
Realistically, he could find the coordinates of everything he has built in the outer reaches of his world and trim the chunks back, like how the end islands get pruned in Hermitcraft. (Unless you requested something like a trapped wither get preserved)
But his world is huge.
This series fills me with so much joy every episode, I have watched every single episode for the past 9 years! I love this world thanks etho
Etho: "I don't chase views"
Thats why he's the GOAT

I'm mixed on redecorating the man cave because that thing is so iconic at this point. But at the same time i love your current building style so much and the curiosity of what it could like now kinda gets to me. So I think you could go either way.
I mean, its preserved in world backups/downloads and via the 10 year long series that he's uploaded to youtube... So I think its fine if he upgraded the building pallet..
He should do a new area in the cave and decorate it with the new blocks (like a stalagmites farm) if the new blocks fit in well then he should test and see how they look in the older areas
He's redecorated the manacle a fair few times already. with all these beautiful new blocks, it's high time he has another crack at it!
@@TheGangsterousG lol.. manacle. Such a funny word
personally i really like the way each area shows different eras of the game, seeing it transition from basic blocks to all the new stuff is super sweet
but a rework of the cave?? :pepewoah: it sounds awesome and i'd love to see how etho would make it work
i still remember watching this LP back when you entered a new world and left the old one
I really love the idea that with each update the mancave gets an upgrade, it would add some more uniqueness to each of the world downloads by having a sorta archive of how the cave changed from time to time, and I would just really love to see the classic elements of the cave modernized with your new build style,
I like it when you “get real” with us. Big apprec.
HOME MAKEOVER!! I've been watching your videos for years and I absolutely love the man cave vibe and how it looks but with all the new blocks you could improve everything so much and get a nice refresh and reason to revisit old rooms and areas
these past few days have been tough. this episode could not have come any sooner. Thank you etho
Same here sleeping shaq
Wishing you both (and whoever needs it as well) lighter, kinder days. 🌿
The way you only post what you want to post and what you find enjoyable is what keeps me on edge to watch more of your videos. Everything is so much more enjoyable to watch when you’re as excited about it as we are.
You rock Etho really enjoyed this series for several years now
Etho's been releasing more content this year than any in the past, as I can recall, and it's all quality viewing.
Thanks Etho
Etho hurts the goat. " Oh I'm sorry"
Gotta love him
A true Canadian indeed
Has etho ever talked about why he hasn't created a second channel? His Minecraft channel has had a long-term Minecraft-only subscriber base so I understand why he doesn't want to post too much other stuff on his main Channel but why not a second channel for lower effort chill etho content with no constraints to genre/game.
He would have to edit those videos too which he might not want to do and instead just enjoy his time on them. Just my thought on it :)
I'd rather have an episode every two weeks and celebrate it than having an episode every day and dreading it. This way, busting out the snacks to watch one of your episodes actually feels special.

Nothing has made me feel as old as this comment
Damn 7 years.. we be old
Oh hell no there’s no way it’s been 7 years
Man, I'd be a fan to watch you game anything. Ark was awesome to go through the series and when you guys coop through... makes it all the sweeter. Much love, Levi.
Keep the cave as a product of it's time. That on it's own is awesome.
I've grown up watching these videos (12 -> 22) and every single upload just brings me so much joy. Etho's personality is so fun and cheerful and it feels great to sit down, get some snacks and watch an Etho video. Please never stop.
I really love the plain smooth stone but definitely add new foliage and half slabs!
YES I've missed this world so much!!!
Ah, Ergo. Always walkin' right past the blue shineys ❤ never change
26:54 Etho casualy kills creeper, seconds away from exploding right beside his schulker boxes with all his valuables
@@zakshei ohh….
I really like the idea of updating the base when new updates come out. it gives the base a visual timeline almost
I'd love to see the base enhanced with new blocks, especially considering that we're getting an update specific to caves,- might as well add to yours
Etho: you’re only gonna eat golden carrots, right?
Etho: munches a porkchop
"its a llama spawner! what are you doing llama?" basically sums up why i love etho and his vids
Enhance away! Make it subtle in already "finished" areas, but definitely add it.
