Pushing a 2017 Civic Si to 360WHP! - One Take
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 жов 2024
- The new Civic Si, like all new Civics, has a turbo. From Honda it comes with 205HP (or does it), a comfier, quieter interior than the outgoing one, and more torque. So how does it feel if you double the horsepower? Emmanuel from New Age Performance brought his to the canyons, so we could find out.

That guy looks like he thought Matt was going to be there.
FriscoBoater's Garage facts I got the same vibe
I am glad I am not the only one
Everyone knows when they schedule that Matt won't be there.
TheSmokingTire I know, but the guy just did not look like he was happy. You could just tell. Just kinda funny. Great videos... keep it up.
FriscoBoater's Garage that’s just how the dude is. Happy or sad, it’s the same face expression lol
370 hp from 1.5 liters. Thats impressive.
Joe Black thats also astonishing.
You want to talk about impressive? Remember BMW's M12 F1-engine? *1.5 liters, 4 cylinders, 1350hp.*
THAT'S impressive!
Henskiii Ehm, that was in F1, and only on qualification laps.
Not really, cram a fuck tonne of boost into any little engine and it will make big power
Your point being? He was portaying 370hp from 1.5 liters as impressive (yes, it's very respectable for a daily driver with such a small displacement engine), when I simply pointed out that BMW made 4 times the power with the same displacement. Formula 1 or not, my point still stays valid..
Guy looks pissed it’s not Matt reviewing and driving his car
He didn't even stop to launch it once. I would have been pissed.
So smiling is the new looking mad now =/ Damn you'er dumb.
He gets butthurt that his civic doesnt get the attention it deserves
marccandrift ass good as civics sails and as many as people mods theme I’ll says they get a good amount of attention.
OK but I wasnt talking about them in general .. This person on IG has been whining about his Civic is far superior against ososik media's Si (was in previous one take)
Damn that's impressive. Makes me reconsider getting a new SI eventually... I would think with this making 360 even a mild upgrade in HP over stock would be bulletproof reliable. (Something that matters to me) Very nice car and upgrade list... Impressed!
Honda's aren't bulletproof... There's a reason I see people with blown B series builds in their driveways. Among other issues, heck my Acura shit the bed on me(transmission went at 120k).
OspreyBravo18 this car is a 1.5 engine and am making 375 with Hondata and PRL turbo and other goodies impressed with such a small engine this car can make some serious power trust me
OspreyBravo18 user error.
@@Osprey1994 🤣
Damn matt great job with your diet. You look like a totally new person!
😂😭
Actually prefer the look of the SI to the type R.
L Taka ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh NO
It's that damn wing. So immature looking.
But I prefer the look of the Type R to the Si anyway because you are a bullshit!
L Taka no
Hey Richard Joash Troll it's been a year...have you gotten any closer to even riding in a Type R?
That's so sick, i love when people do modern honda builds. Good job
I heard hector just ordered a T66 turbo with NOS and a Motec system exhaust.
Love it...
I have to give it to you Zack, your one takes have really improved compared to the first few that we saw. Nice job man
4:25 wow that actually sounds pretty good!
I miss my 00 civic si. It was an all motor build, but holy shit the vtec crossover was like someone starting a wicked chainsaw. That b16 thrived with aggressive cams.
Trackappeal vtec bro lol
What cams did u use?
8:47 oh yeah buddy i agree with you right there. Turbo Civics with independent suspensions, battle for strongest V8's pushing 650-700hp+ from factory, super cars evolved into hyper 1200-1500hp+. yeah this car era has definitely redefine itself progressively and quickly throughout the years.
Emmanuel, again doin it right for this civics! more power man! love those civics you built.
LoL quit enabling him now and just buy a type-r minus all the ricer looks of course. LoL
@@GeoTrashPanda insult to injury?
Crazy how I didn’t think much about who eman was until I actually got a 10th gen si myself... eman himself is a legend!
Can't wait until more companies start making aftermarket parts for these new civics. Especially the 1.5 Si and the seemingly forgotten 2.0l VTEC Se version.
Even nowadays the 2.0 is still extremely limited
Man I kinda feel bad for this guy, y’all all bashing him in the comments for not being Matt but cmon dude just likes cars and trying to make a career out of it, as a car community we should be supportive instead.
5:26 , "oh" .. in his head (this is where I die) *while grabbing the holy shit bar* 😂
Impressive power. Great to see this car modded. Power to weight exceeds my long gone very old stage 2 WRX (292 awhp). This is a great sleeper car with the new type R in the picture. Hopefully the tranny holds up well compared to type R and increased power. Thanks for sharing. And good job Zack! Pay no attention to the critics. It’s just separation anxiety.
As a honda tech i gotta say these cars are really amazing, fun and easy to drive, would recommend this car anyday
@Male Patriarchy
Better engine, you can get much more power out of it.
Nice SI! More of a sleeper than a type R
very nice!!!
Is he running 93 on this
Matt and his A.D.D is so much more entertaining to watch.
Wow I love that sound the Wastagate in the new civic SIR that’s amazing I was wrong thinking about the size engine 1.5 but the things is the system Turbo ... 😍😍 is perfect for daily driven
Honda is always pushing forward its knob technology.
So impressed with my 2018 Si. I’ve owned many different Honda’s and it’s my favorite.
You're getting a lot better my friend! Keep it up! Pretty soon people will be like "Matt who?" Lol jk 🤣😂 🤣
New guy does an excellent job explaining what he's experiencing behind the wheel. I think he does a better job than Matt IMHO. But I'm probably alone on that.
You are not. I like them both, but Zach definitely explains how it feels to drive the car in greater detail. Both great hosts in their own way.
People should stop bitching about how they want Matt to come back and do one takes, the guy has bags of talent and needs to open more doors in his career as an automotive journalist/ television personality. These one takes are time consuming and probably don't generate as much revenue for the channel to make it a viable full time thing for Matt. Let the guy work! Zach obviously knew going in that he had big shoes to fill by taking Matt's place, I think it's important that viewers are more constructive in our criticism so we can help curb the channel in a direction we all want to see it go, Matt or no Matt. I think Zach's doing great, I knew when I saw that Zach was stepping in that we were in for a slightly different style of one take, different questions asked etc. I do think that it's important that Zach is consistently honest (no matter how brutal it seems) with the people who bring in their cars for a one take, that's what made these one takes special i.e. when the dude in the toyota prius with the stupid body kit and no power mods that kept rubbing around every corner came by for one take, Matt told the guy straight up how absurd his car was and how it was essentially a waste of time/money/energy making the one take a bit awkward, I personally liked that about Matt's one takes, I enjoyed that he was honest with his guests and made it known if he didn't understand or really didn't like certain elements of peoples builds or if he found them to be just all out bad and poorly executed. But then he'd also appreciate the low budget builds where things just worked despite maybe being rough around the edges or hard to initially take seriously.. Matt 'reviewed' them from a realistic angle, often as if the camera wasn't even there. which made these one takes unique, amongst other things. But primarily the honesty Matt portrayed despite having the owner of the car sitting beside him, often undoubtedly a little more aware due to them being on camera with potentially several hundred thousand viewers tuning in, sometimes you could even tell that people with crappy builds would come in and have this shit eating grin on their face knowing their car was about to get roasted by Matt, others would try and spark enthusiasm with matt to show him where they were coming from when making their car that way. I.e. the reg cab short bed supercharged 4 cylinder Toyota Tacoma one take, the dude kinda had to convince or sell matt on what he'd made and Matt eventually came around and showed his approval/appreciation of it.
Kinda hard to re-create that aspect I imagine, Matt has a talent for remaining cordial despite being painfully honest.. I think the way he thought of it was from his viewers perspective.. 'What are my viewers gonna say in the comments' or 'what would I do differently and why' then 'what do I honestly think of this car and how the owner modified it' etc.
I can't be 100% sure on what Matt was thinking during these one takes because obviously I'm not Matt.. but I can definitely say that he didn't conform to the person sitting in the passengers' seat, he conformed to his millions of viewers and what their thoughts might be based on how well he knows us, which is the right thing to do, if not the most comfortable at the time of filming for him or the owner of the car. I think if Zach can emulate that (As great as Matt is at doing that, he obviously didn't invent that style of presentating So it wouldn't be disingenuous or anything for Zach to play that angle during one takes) then he'll continue to do well and improve the channel.
old mate kept going for the Jesus handle
frazzelrock ...dude...pulling g's through an outside corner going down a mountain...alot different than watching on a screen...
It doesn’t seem like he was going fast , but it was enough where I felt I need to hold the handle lol
I think he was going freeway speeds through those long sweepers
I remember the comments after we stopped recording :).
TheSmokingTire car has motec now FYI and a larger turbo.
The factory clutch is terrible, the only thing i really dislike about the car. Wayyy too light and doesn't engage until the very top. The reviewer is 100% right. The chassis is very, very solid. Speaking of metallurgy i saw a video of the honda engineers showing a cut away of that motor and you woulnd't believe how spindly the rods look. I am shocked and very happy to see they somehow hold up under that kind of power.
“Ooh 300zx”
Somebody in the comments said this host drives faster than Matt because of saved weight. 😭😭🤣🤣
is it just me or does this guy drive way faster than Matt?
HingleMcCringleBerry he does lol
Less weight
@@zero_to_1000 Lmfao
@LAN Evo That's cute... Do you actually watch the channel? Matt has clearly demonstrated he is very capable.
Well, both guys drive fast in my opinion.
"Red missile with a turbo sound" Nioce! 👍🏽
It looks like he's going really fast
Was hoping there would be more comparison btw this and Type R. Why do this instead of getting a Type R, cost comparison etc.
its hard to tell a civic SI from a regular civic with options now since the civic Type R came state side. The SI does not stand out like the Type R
The R outshines em all
I know truly sucks I wish the Si stood out more on the streets can’t really tell the difference between a Honda Civic sport sedan and a Si unless I get close enough to see the Si badge and the spoilers also gives it a different look but nothing to obvious that makes the car stand out
That's impressive for that little 1.5 liter. K series boosted will get you 4-450~ on a turbo and 350-400 supercharged.
Can't imagine this engine will have any long-term durability.
tww1491 thinking the same thing , it may say Honda but no longer a Honda now it’s just a riced p.o.s haha
@@worldlyHonda2020 how is it riced there no cosmetic mods other than rims. It's a proper build.
@@MJT-DA I swear people dont even know what the hell rice means anymore. They just hop on the Honda hating bandwagon and call every civic they see rice.
@@darkknight097 facts! I personally don't like how the new ones look however they're not rice if it's from the factory... I see more riced v6 challengers than anything.
How’s the torque steer on the new SI? Since the SI doesn’t have the fancy front suspension setup of the Type R, I wonder if it’s a bear to handle with 360whp?
Zack always seems a bit depressed. Such a fun job yet he seems uninterested and unimpressed with everything.
Zack" Squidward" Klapman.
Mike Morris Who tf Cares...Stop Frigging Watching And Judging People, Dammit.
ClampGod Kj We care because he took over a channel. So if I did decide to stop watching I'm gonna say why. If this was his own original channel yeah, this comment would be bullshit.
I think he's trying to be professional (knowing this gig is a big deal). Hopefully he gets more comfortable over time
Mike Morris excellent comment
When I read “squidward” I died
Would rather have this thing than the Type R I reckon; the only thing I'd be missing is the hatchbackiness of the CTR.
...but this is compelling as a comparison.
nik_nailor imo there should be a sedan version of they type r. Like an accord type r. Ir just a regualr ctr sedan
If memory serves me right, this holds the record for fastest new si. It runs 11s on radials I believe. Legit
10s now, hels by Prl.
10s by ktuned
4 door Si's are hard to find. And I'm 6'1". I think I'll pick up the Accord 2.0T instead. A tune and CAI will easily put down 300whp reliably.
i have a 17 si coupe and im about 6'1 and i fit fine. its my 3rd civic
@@Hawtpinklady I'll be coming from a 2011 Suburban though. I don't want to get clostraphobic. I know it's the biggest Civic ever made but I'm still on the edge of either car.
The Accord because the seats are bigger and better and with electric lumbar support you can take it on the highway
Still faster than most STI
Would destroy a FBO sti
So much horsepower per liter... like prob over 250. This is nuts. I thought Honda had gone too far with 200 already. We can actually make over 200hp/L reliably(daily) now? Geez
bcredeur97 turbo yay
Honda killed it on the front but holy shit the rear is hideous
The Coupé is much better looking than the sedan.
If it gets stiffer than regular mode on those d2 springs then sport mode must feel like driving a skateboard
I'll be honest it might be the wide angle of the camera but it doesn't seem like it accelerates like a car with 360 whp.
Jared K car has gone 11.7 @118mph and it also doesn’t help the car is so quiet
I’ve had ride in the car, it pulls hard. Very close in comparison to my friends SC civic si putting over 400 to the wheels.
Jared K 11.7 isn’t 360whp to you? Because that’s what this car ran on the 1/4 mile at 117mph.
Hey I'm Jared K...
I was thinking the same thing the entire time. Maybe Zack just wasn't pushing it that hard, as 11.7 in the quarter is heady stuff, but this looked like it never stood up and just went. On the other hand, the turbo probably has to be spooled up like mad for that to happen.
Absolutely LOVE my wife’s ‘18 Si, cannot imagine another 160HP! My choices when I walk out to the garage are pretty cool right now; between her Si, my sons’ ‘16 GTI and my modified ‘13 FRS, driving life is very good right now. What’s fastest? In a straight line, I think it’s the GTI....
Ooohhh, that's a nice set of choices.
I love Honda’s
Damn might as well get a type-r all said and done with emptying that pocket book......with a tune of course and probably cheaper still.
Very awesome technical updates for CIVIC sedan
It's stupid how much power turbocharged 4's can make. I'm still amazed at how much power my GTI makes on a conservative tune from COBB. I look forward to having a pro-tune done once I have all the parts ready.
Haha I had a gti you should dyno with APR....amazing results
Matt come back, please!
Actually stock dynoed at 213 to the wheel and 216 torque.. its way underrated.
Is this motor still running on stock block? I’m super curious
I shopped for the new Si earlier this year but the power was just a little too low for me. But those numbers are intriguing. It sounds pretty good too tbh. Very cool.
Bring back MATT Bring back MATT!!!
Angler321 no
I prefer when Matt reviews. It's easier to gauge how the car feels through Matt's reactions
Give him a chance. He will grow into the show and will give the show a new perspective. It's great watching Matt but change isnt always bad.
Angler321 mj
the driver is prettty smooth.
So this car made 170+ whp from bolt ons?
Evan Miraglia and a turbo upgrade
E85 too
Evan Miraglia also turbo upgrade is only a 26whp extra from baseline
ktuner wth stage 1 vittune adds 50whp and 80ftib wtrq. And thats just a base map, running at 25psi
Why are you copy and pasting your comments to people who favor the new Si?
Prl needs to hurry up and finish headers for 2g tl damn foo been lagging
That car looks legit
wheels cost over 3k, its a nice build
Thank you!
THAT is one hell of a sleeper.
When I saw the back of this car i almost threw up in my mouth. Whoever designed that car needs the boot.
It looks good and sound good and it doesn't sound loud and obnoxious
Zack just isn't as interesting as Matt. I would have loved to here Matt's perspective on this
Steadfast Wog Matt chose a different path. There is no need to compare them.
*What path did he choose?*
AzNightmare the path of poorly and nervously executed dad jokes 😂
The path where you sell nutsack powder and rental watches to pay for making track day videos exclusively
*TBH, I could use that nutsack powder. It's an real issue when the sack is just too big in hot climate. Do you recall the product?*
*GRABBY HANDS*
Now i want a civic. Cant believe i said that...
Dante Planeta I feel the same way 😁
No you don’t get a v8
Andrew Matses i have a v8
ANTHONY Blake respecc
2018 Camaro ZL1 is my next car
I'm that weirdo that generally wonders what mpg they get out of these because stock is 38/28 so I wonder if they are still getting decent gas mileage
360WHP must be fun but scary to drive in a FWD car :D
Vince Garage - doesn't get scary till 500hp+
"FDW" does sound scary
Haha... Typo ;-)
It has a LSD so it’s fine
Try that kind of power in a turbo eg hatchback. What an animal
2.4L civics can hold 450-500whp before internal breakdowns and they are stock NA. If you're worried about rods and pistons @ 360whp thats worrying! But i suppose it is still a 1.5 and cant hold that much more.
Taylor you must own a civic si with the 2.4L lol. Go test drive the new 10th gen civic si = better chassis, higher mpgs, faster than a 9th gen with bolt ons. Honda knows what they're doing with these motors. Not to mention the interior is so much better than the 8th or 9th gens (heated seats) + the seats themselves are alot more comfortable.
Honda really dropped the ball on the new styling.
jvepps the rear of the car is terrible looking.... I agree unfortunately
I think this looks so much better then any civic they’ve ever made by far!
Aside from the vents being fake I think it looks great.
jvepps I agree which is why I got the si sedan in black. Best color for this model imo because of those vents.
The coupe looks much better
Zach looked like he was keeping a decent speed throughout the drive.
Really, there aren't aftermarket parts because the car is too new? Its been out for over 2 years. When a new Corvette comes out, aftermarket parts are available in a matter of weeks. I don't think anybody wants to make parts for the Civic.
You're not very smart are you? The 10th gen civics are no longer using the same K series as the last three or so iterations of the civic have used. Due to this, aftermarket companies have to re learn the new 1.5t and 2.0t. The corvette has been LS based since the C5 which has been around for over 20 years. Of course new parts are always available bc the parts are almost exactly the same.
Very ignorant statement lmao
Please, if someone wanted to make performance parts for a civic, it would happen. It is a basic car. It's not like it is a Ferrari.
femaledeer basic or not, to make reliable performance parts requires that you understand how the engine in Stock form works in its entirety. We're not just talking about universal eBay parts here bud.
Danny Hayson I can't believe he was serious smh
My man Eman killing it still! Imagine if they drove the car now
Those ungawdly rear bumper vents are such an ear sore. Could not make an uglier car. Congrats Honda
Ear sore
Ear sore [2]
Cut them out. Square by square. Buy a separate set beforehand though.
Great video, lots of info and really fun to watch
Where TF is Matt🤨
I got used to this guy. Awesome show!
So boring compared to matt
Wtf! Where is Matt
Then why do you still watch the videos?
I don't watch them. Every once in awhile a video that interests me like this will pop up in my feed but I soon learn Matt isn't even in it so I exit out. According to the comments it seems like Matt is doing something else now and Zack took over? Idk
Yes Matt is doing a podcast and videos about watches of all things. If Zack hadn't stepped up there wouldn't be any One Takes now. Matt will only be doing press cars and maybe some One Takes but only if it's a super special car.
I’m still waiting on this type r turbo kit to come out for the si.
Ugghh 7k rpms...sounds so...normal....an this new guy is hella boring...where the hells matt!?
Does a Type R hood fit a Si with no mods ?
Bring Matt back
So you COULD turn a Si into a Type R?
Who the hell is this guy
Favian Mayora lol I felt the same
Emanuels sheir is so clean.
The SI sedan rear bumper is so stupid idk why they didn’t put the coupe bumper on there.
Damn I don't know why people buy into the hype of the type R. For $24 with the summer tires option go after market shit. This tuner proves that.
Erik Gonzalez well a type R has a warranty. This very modified car has no warranty and the something in the engine will probably break at which point the owner is on the hook
Did he really just say its faster than the stock Si duuh, Bring Matt back..
Be EXTREMELY careful with your ktuner plug! The electrical contacts are not protected like for example a smartphone plug. MAJOR design flaw in my opinion. If the plug is upside down when you plug it into the ktuner it may spark. I just saw this yesterday while someone was showing their new ktuner and newish 2018 turbo SI. And we could smell smoke. We couldn't believe it! We thought the tuner was fried. The vehicle wasn't running at the time. He immediately shut down vehicle power. And someone mentioned it threw an ignition code. I wasn't sure if the code was on the dash or the tuner itself. The tuner got plugged in properly and car started and there was no more code and things went back to normal for the rest of the night. Be careful with your ktuners!
I THOUGHT THE KID ZACK DID AN EXCELLENT JOB AT HOSTING THIS AND HE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE QUITE SMOOTH AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH CONTROLLING THE CAR. ITS NOT A BEAST OR Anything, BUT HE CARRIED SOME NICE SPEED INTO MOST OF THOSE CORNERS. Which turbo did they use on that SI????
LSX KING Type R
That supposed WG sound isn't WG at all...that's the turbo backspinning when letting off the throttle...
I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG ON A VIDEO OF A TENTH GEN CIVIC. Especially the Si with those sedan lines 😍
Emmanuel - Honda makes a 100hp outboard motor (Only 100hp outboard in production right now) that weighs as little as the 90hp competition (including honda's very own 90hp outboard) and it is equipped with VTEC technology.
Do you think you'd be able to squeeze a bunch more power from one of those? I believe it's similar (or exactly the same as) to the 1.5 liter engine found in the current generation Honda Fit. I imagine marine engines aren't your focus but you seem to be one of the top Honda engine builders for want of a better word and how different could it be? I'm also curious about the Honda Fit, think you could squeeze 200 wheel horsepower out of the engine in that state of tune? I think people underestimate the potential of that car because the civic is not a huge jump, price wise. But the Fit weighs only 2300-2400lbs or so I really think the fit would be a great candidate, but please correct me if I'm wrong
Danny Murphy boat motors lol gtfo
I was looking the website for PRL Motorsports and they have several different Turbo options for their turbo kit and I was wondering which one you chose.
It's the Turbo from the Type R retrofitted to the Si. Not sure they're sold normally like that
Any update on how the cars still running?
The SI had to change, alot of cars are faster.... mainly in the street because Honda's didn't have too much torque
I want these type of mods in a civic type r coupe if they existed.
