Both Audio files are still there -> Right Click > Clip Attributes > Audio > and then you can choose between linked and Embedded Audio :)
Look at that! Learned something new today! 😎💥
We love your energy and yes the instructions hit the mark! Merci 🇨🇦✌🏾
Thank you for your help and for sharing your knowledge Joris :)
I love your videos and the sense of humor that you bring to the content , thank you.
Awesome video Joris, i always wondered how it was done, thank you
this was hella helpful! quick and to the point. def got my sub bro
Thanks for the vid. It's definitely going to help me make the transition!
Super useful. Thank you!
This video is a life saver i used to automatically position the audio with the lip movement and that's inefficient and it takes for ever, thanks alo
Thank you! Really appreciate this video.
Very helpful! Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing even it seems to be a simple thing :)
Thanks! Very helpful 🙏
Thanks dude, really helped!
Best tutorial ever 👏👏👏
Liked and subscribed bro
ur the best dude! love the shirt and cap😊
Helpful video. You had me laughing on multiple occasions, man. Thanks for the heads up on the "sh!tty audio" in DaVinci Resolve. haha.
Life saver!!!
Subbing after seeing this! I'm just starting to dabble into video and this has been a concern of mine. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for the tutorial really handy :) I come from premiere pro and this little tutorials make me really easy to switch to davinci
You're very welcome!
There is a solution: select everything in the Media Pool and select Auto Sync Audio, and in the drop-down menu the lowest line is Based on Waveform and Append Tracks. And then DaVinci will display two tracks on the timeline: one "dirty" and the other synchronized "clean sound. Use it
Just saved my life. Thankyou
Thank you, this must be a world record 0:12 seconds. ❤️
First of all, can I just say, I (*swear word*) love your sarcasm 🤣🤣🤣...
Great video as always Joris.
It's such an easy-to-use, cool feature in Resolve - oh, and I also had no idea you could sync on the timeline so thank you so much for that 🙏🏻
Thank you, this was great.
🙏🏻 glad you liked it!
Wow. This was perfect. Exactly the helpful content I needed.
That's was helpful. I just bought cheap mic Behringer 8500 and intend to level up my audio. I used to plug my lav mic to camera but I will try your method with synching in post.
Killer video Bro. Thanks!!!!!
Any time
Thank you
Hey man, any recommendations on exporting the audio files correctly in place on the NLE? I need to get them into a DAW with the same positioning. This is for a audio mix on my short - I’m trying to send it out to be mixed. Thanks!
Hi, I had a question. I am an editor, editing commercial videos with footage off of the Sony A7iii. I am currently using premiere but highly likely to switch to Davinci. I was wondering if I should get the M16(i7 12700h, RTX 3060) or the G15(Ryzen9 5900HS, RTX 3080) or the G15(Ryzen 76800HS, RTX 3060). Which would best run in premiere and resolve? Which G15 model is best and also, what's the difference between the M16 and best model G15 for premiere and Davinci Resolve? I was also wondering if the G15 will be faster in davinci and if the RTX 3080 with a worse cpu is better than a lower gpu and better cpu for resolve and premiere individually?
I'm usig 18.1.2 for the Mac and when I select multiple clips (including audio) and right click, I have no menu choice of Auto Sync Audio. Your menu choices below Media Pool and to left of "Mas" (Master) are also different. On mine there is a menu icon that the hover tip reads Sync Clips. When I click that it syncs the clips (meaning they get a little Sync icon on them) but they are not linked together. If I drag the video clip to the editor, the audio does not follow. Moving the audio clip to the editor does not result in aligned clips. Quite frustrating.
first! Thanks for the great videos
Hello Sir, does it work for this kind of scenario:
I am about to start the tutorials channel in my native language, where mostly there would be 2 files - video of me explaining things (bad audio from camera) which will be transitioned to a small camera "bubble" in the corner of the video and the second file would be a screen recording with good audio.
Good video!……my question is, is this good enough to do a small multi cam jazz music video or should I get a dirty tc1?…..🤔
I would love to this as easy as you suggest. I select sound and video files and there is no available option to sync based on waveform. That feature is greyed out on my free version of resolve.
GREAT beginning , HAHA
Hi, in Davinci. I’m not able to sync video and audio. When I select “auto align clips”, the options are grayed out and clickable. When I click “auto align clips”, nothing happens. My audio clip doesn’t sync with my video clip. What do I do?
Hi Joris, I split the audio and video from one file on my (DR18) timeline I've been working on to make J and L cuts. Then the audio got a couple of frames off (sloppy editing!). I clicked them, went to Clip, Autoalign...but Waveform and TC were both greyed out. I checked it with other projects and same thing. Any ideas??? Many thanks!!
You need to highlight both the video and the audio clip. Also, the tracks have to be unlocked.
I know the videio is 9 months old, but the option to synchronize does not appear on the timeline when I right click... I'm using version 18.5.
I'm using 18.5 too and I still do exactly the same...
did u get the thingy, i mean pop up filter?
Would it sometimes be better to create a Multicam Clip even just for sync the Audio?, if so when yes when not? Thank you Joris, great Tutorial as always
What about if it’s greyed out when you try to do it ? Because that’s currently my issue
Thank you boss didn't understand i need to highlight all 3 clips before you sync to WAVE
I have a buzzing sound with one of my mics when it's plugged directly into the camera, I need to get one of the external recorders as it is an xlr mic (it has an adapter) and doesn't pick up a lot of audio some I think it needs phantom power. Thanks for the video, I was not looking forward to auto syncing the audio when I got one, does the zoom recorder have a built in phantom power by chance
Most recorders do have phantom power. I think it's safe to say that any xlr recorder does. Buzzing is usually caused by cheap audio cables.
Thanks, very helpfull! You are so funny. I like youre sarcasmus. :-)
De sarcasmus non disputandum est 😎👊🏻💥
Have you considered using timecode? I started using TC about a year ago and it’s saved me so much time and aggravation. Your technique works fine in a studio environment, but falls apart in the real world where sound is coming in from all over the place.
Maybe that's what I need to try because this method just doesn't work for me and it frustrates me because my audio source is from various recorders with several individually recorded dialogues ... it never aligns when I try this method so I will give the timecode option a try 😰
Will this also work for gamplay capture.
Like syncing gameplay and webcam?
It syncs based on the sound wave. So, both files should have the same audio recorded, otherwise it won't work.
What the hell is wrong with you -- I love the sarcasm LOL Thank you, I had no idea how to sync video. I have an ecommerce store and a blog and am getting ready to start creating youtube content. I am probably going to use a shotgun mic recorded on a recorder and had no idea how to sync the audio. you made the whole explanation fun to watch, of course I tend to throw a lot of sarcasm out there myself.
OK, but what about if you add a short clip (e.g., 3-5 second) into the middle of a video and it sounds out of place to the rest of the video because you might have spoken louder or quieter and might have spoken further or closer to microphone as compared to how you sound in the rest of the video. How do you make it sound less like it was randomly added in?
If a clip is too quiet, increase its volume. Mic placement is something that needs to be done on set. It's a royal PITA to try to match improperly-placed mics. I'd start with an EQ.
TOP...
My interface looks completely different from yours. Is there any way u could help? The only way it allows me to sync is if I put it into sync bin.
Are you in the Edit page? (Not Cut page)
How about showing us how to make time stamps for UA-cam video in Davinci
I was looking forward to using this feature until I tried it and it gave me a "FAILED" message. Fortunately I was able to easily sync the video myself manually, making me wonder how useful/less this feature really is.
The syncing isn't working for me and I think being OCD may have caused it. I have all my videos neatly stored in folders per scene per day of shoot, and all the alternate audio stored in separate folder. For this reason, I cannot do the Select All to use the Ai sync function in DR presumably because the files are not within the same pool. Each time I get a fail when I try to sync.
Even when I try the sync directly from the timeline, I still get a fail. I am reverting back to painful manual process of aligning my alternate audio with each dialogue/scene :(
Yeah, I got the same issue here
@@SonYonatan I found a way around mine though and I'm loving it/ not 100% effective but 90% and that is good enough for me haha
OMGOSH!!! I literally dropped my phone just before the cough/choke and for a second I thought that happened because of me 😂😂😂😂 I felt so stupid 😂😂😂
I'm synced but now I have some weird reverb or echo, mind you this is an outdoor wedding, so nothing but grass, trees, no location produced echo whatsoever. Tried the EQ method and it doesn't work.
And you don't have two audio tracks playing at the same time accidentally? 🤔
I've been struggling with audio since day 1. When I try to hook my mic through the camera I get a terrible buzzing sound. For a while it would only happen whenever I would attach the mic to the top of the camera and would disappear the further away from the camera that I moved the mic, so I thought it was a problem with the camera itself. With that in mind, I got some equipment to record audio with the mic connected to my laptop using Audacity, with the intention of syncing it with the video in DaVinci Resolve later (which, thank you for this because doing it this way is MUCH easier than what I was doing to sync the audio before), but to a lesser degree, I had the same issue using that method. So, I tried running the mic back through the camera only to get the buzzing sound no matter how far away the mic is from the camera, which tells me it is a problem with the mic, and that it is progressively getting worse.
So, I'm back to square 1 with audio lol. I really don't want to have to buy a new mic, but I have zero electrical repair skills and everywhere I seek an answer to this makes it sound like a short within the mic. Additionally, I'd hate to spend the money on a new mic only to find out the problem has nothing to do with either the camera or the mic and wind up with the same problem. Right now it is the only thing holding me back from beginning my short film project. Sound quality can make or break a film, so I don't even want to start principle photography until I'm sure I can capture most of the audio on the spot. As it stands, all my test footage sounds like it was recorded with Fisher Price equipment.
For reference, I'm using the Canon M50 with the Rode Videomic Go that came with the Content Creator Kit.
There must be a problem with the mic or the connection. I've used the Rode VideoMic Pro+ with the M50 and never had that problem 🤔 have you tried to find other creators who use the GO with the M50?
I've done several Google searches for the problem over the past year that I've been having the problem and I haven't really found anyone that describes my specific issue using the same equipment. Most of them point to nose reduction, which is perfectly okay for background noise, and I have tried this within both DaVinci Resolve and in Audacity, but completely getting rid of this buzzing using noise reduction makes the remaining audio sound even worse.
I have a birthday coming up, and my mother-in-law is usually fairly generous with the gift cards, so I may just invest in a new microphone. I might also see if there are any electronics repair shops around here that could fix a short for me, because it would be a shame to have paid for this mic and not be able to use it. Meantime, I might try to find something cheap to hook through the camera as a comparison to see if it's actually the connection or not. It'll give me time to refine my script lol
I got the Creator Kit from Amazon last year and didn't find out until later that it was from a 3rd party seller. When my camera broke last August I had to shell out the money for repairs because Canon said there was no warranty that applied to the equipment due to this. Lesson learned. Any equipment I buy in the future is coming directly from Canon.
Have u tried replacing the cable, I have the same problem with 2 mics of mine but whenever I use a good cable it fixes it
@@WMRV I have tried 3 different cables, one of which is brand new. All evidence is pointing toward a short in the mic, itself.
I don't have the option to auto-align. What else can I do?
You can select one audio clip per track.
what is that thingy called indeed ?
A pop filter 😎
Bummer, I shot some video on my dslr and recorded audio on my Tascam. Followed your directions, and it gave me the message, No Match found. I'm just trying to sync the sound of Ocean Waves to the video I shot of ocean waves. No luck so far.
That's because there is no readable waveform in ocean waves. You need to do a sequence of claps as he did in the video. That will create tall waveform peaks that will be very easy to sync up.
Gostei do seu áudio como conseguir esse áudio
Can't see that option....
Dude do you have a tutorial for how to edit? Just for your Shirt in this I'll give a like but I would appreciate it if you can answer this. Ramones!!!
OH MY GOD I've been fighting with Premiere Pro for days in a row now trying to find a solution to this that doesn't f up everything and Resolve just HAD THIS ALL THE TIME???!!! I think I'm ready to make the switch.
I never looked back after I switched from PP! DR is 🔥💯
I really don't get why Resolve has to lock you into clip based syncing. It would be great if it was just like Pluraleyes, dump everything on the timeline, sync, boom - all synced, all clips available, the day mapped out in one sequence - I do a lot of run-and-gun documentary work, there's a lot of off-camera dialogue on iso mics that would just get lost if you only kept the in and out of each video clip.
Im in Resolve 18 and when i right click I have like zero options to do anything.
Windows or Mac?
@@JorisHermans I'm on Mac and I have the same issue
One of those options I do not have, and the one that I do have does not work. What the hell
for some reason I got an error all the time. Anyone knows how to fix?
I record with 2 Rode wireless pro Laver mics, and also let that signal into the camera footage so it should be easy to sync but unfortunately it can't
Hey, Bas! Wat zegt de foutmelding?
@@JorisHermansna het syncen krijg ik: Auto Sync Failed No match was found when attempting to align these clips.
It doesn't work for a bunch of clips together
It does. I showed you 😉
A pop filter will help minimize noise and unwanted sounds.
Yes, that's what I need! A pop thingy 😊
There is no audio sync option that comes on when right clicking
You need to highlight both the audio and the video clips you want to sync together.
@@HikingWithCooper I did that, and still the synchronize files was not highlighted to work.
@@JohnDoe-fu4qd Are you in the edit (not cut) page? Does your video clip have audio?
In my first short ( ~8 min) with an actual crew - I learned some significant lessons - which is good. I let the crew place me in a dire place regarding synching video and audio. I know better and take full responsibility.
One video clip from the camera could encompass many takes. Or one. And a chunk of time, the slate was done at the end.
Similarly, The boom did not always start and stop with the camera. And thus, the number of takes on a give audio clip could be distinct from any video clip.
And don’t forget the Lavilier’s and another recorder device used (a table top used for a poker game scene). I have not yet investigated what the soundman did within those clips. I am frightened to find out :)
Also, for each boom and laveilier track has an second identical track with a 6db difference. I think this adds only a bit more complexity as I will take the same action for each pair since they are exactly the same, except for the 6db difference.
Effectively, I have a many-to-many relationship between the number of takes on the video clips to the number of takes on the audio clips.
What do you think I should do?
My thought: I take 10-20 hours and break everything into defined takes. I would then attempt the auto-sync and/or auto-align. One benefit of this approach allows me to optimize organization and the use of metadata, keywords and smartbins.
I surely could use some advice.
Thanks!
Why does'nt this work for me??????
What doesn't work?
I just found out. Thanks for you're reaction@@JorisHermans
I found out finaly......
I found out finaly.......
And I have no idea if you are using windows or mac.
Mac 😎
How do I sync if my video clip has no shitty audio . Lets say , drone video of a person talking.
You should include a visual cue like a clap with your hands so that you can sync the "visual clap" with the clapping sound in the audio file.
Cool video, haha, you are all gunning the guy offering this at a price. I will much rather watch you guys. Wont even subscribe to him...
sync audio better at premiere pro 😒
Premiere Pro? You mean Crash-all-the-time Pro 😅
when I shoot music video, this happens the most. I use resolve, but for audio sync premiere is better.
Final Cut is the best at syncing. Trying to move to davinci but multi cam sync is so reliable in fcp it’s hard.
