Dude... I did not know that you could do it in the edit page - you've probably just saved me those 3 hours I lost the other day within the next 2 months of syncing audio like that! I think I will still need to do them individually though because one drawback with my method is that while I may film 8 or 9 takes, I leave the audio recording the whole time so I have to sync the 8 or 9 clips with a single WAV and I don't think it can handle that. Once again, you're a legend!
My laptop audio isn't good for screen recordings and I still want to keep the flow of audio from my start video with the face which i shoot on iPhone including the mic. I thought maybe I could use the mic of the iPhone but still sync the screen recording. You just taught me how, Thank you.
I was struggling with a project with one long audio file recorded separately (for a third microphone) and 2 shorter video clips with embedded audio. Couldn’t find a way to sync these until I saw this video. Once again you saved me so much time and trouble!
One more thing that might prove useful if you have 2 clips with markers and have snap turned on, they will snap together when you get them close. This may be useful to marker a peak in the audio tracks and try snapping them together.
I loved this short tutorial, especially the tip regarding switching to subframe movement. This was absolutely the easiest explanation I've seen on this topic, so thank you!
YAY!!!! You're back!!! And weirdly... you actually have the answers to something I have been looking for.... TBH: Got a copy of a Premiere work folder... where the files are in two different folders... I can't for the life of me, make out anything... it's in a weird format as well... Something that I haven't seen in over 5 years....
To be honest, ive synced manually for last 2 years as I didnt trust this auto sync option. Now I see it works great and will give it a try. And what you show to be able to sync multiple at once, you saved me bunch of a time!
You wont believe this but I have a project I shot this week with 4 cameras and needed to bone up on this feature… brilliant. Once again a clear and precise tutorial… mahalo mate.
Amazing editor. This is exactly what I need! I record and videograph alot of concert footage. In camera and external recorder. Probably would have never found this without your amazing content. So easy! No words to thank you enough.
Thanks. I've got recordings from various sources that I need to sync up with the video and this is exactly what I need to know. Now, if only I could have got them in sync in the live production - but that's a whole different can of worms.
Thank you so much, I was so frustrated with Davinci Resolve because I couldn't figure out how to manually sync my audio and video manually, I did the auto sync and it was close but still not at the right place and didn't know how to move it slightly to the left.
Brilliant!! I kept trying to get back to work after learning what I needed to know, but the tips kept coming! Thank you MrAlexTech! I appreciate you! 🙏😊🙌
Thank you so much for this wonderful video i have been struggling for two weeks on a music video i am trying to sync but your killer tip was all i needed to get it done well. love from Gambia
Mein Gott! I just spent sooooooooooooo many hours doing this manually. For three music videos on my other channel. Moral of the story- always check if Uncle Alex has done a video that might be relevant BEFORE proceeding. What an idiot (me, obviously) Noted, saved , thank you.
Cool video buddy! and I learned something new with your Pro Tip 👌 My editing life changed a lot since Resolve added the auto audio sync, before I used to manually sync each individual footages one by one within the Media page (linked audio)... It took me a lot of time and efforts especially when you have a lot of footages! The auto sync (I use waveform) is fast and very accurate almost every times, it is truly a game changer!
Unlike you and most others, manual is the only way for what I do. Not many tutorials address that but this one does. Consider yourself lucky all you had to do was learn which button to press for the auto align. Duh.
Thank you very much for this excellent Tutorial on Sound Sync, which I have recently been using in DaVinci Resolve, and frankly it is amazingly precise on the waveform. But you taught me other methods that I would try on occasion, thank you.
Hi Alex! Thank you for this video, finally this would make my syncing of GoPro and Recordings from my phone's audio so easy. You literally saved me from buying gopro mic adapter 😂 I owe you this one alex
Thanks a lot man! Ive been looking for Micro adjustments to properly sync the audio and this solved my problem!! how about microadjustment with a video? as this trick only move the audio
In my first short ( ~8 min) with an actual crew - I learned some significant lessons - which is good. I let the crew place me in a dire place regarding synching video and audio. I know better and take full responsibility. One video clip from the camera could encompass many takes. Or one. And a chunk of time, the slate was done at the end. Similarly, The boom did not always start and stop with the camera. And thus, the number of takes on a give audio clip could be distinct from any video clip. And don’t forget the Lavilier’s and another recorder device used (a table top used for a poker game scene). I have not yet investigated what the soundman did within those clips. I am frightened to find out :) Also, for each boom and laveilier track has an second identical track with a 6db difference. I think this adds only a bit more complexity as I will take the same action for each pair since they are exactly the same, except for the 6db difference. Effectively, I have a many-to-many relationship between the number of takes on the video clips to the number of takes on the audio clips. What do you think I should do? My thought: I take 10-20 hours and break everything into defined takes. I would then attempt the auto-sync and/or auto-align. One benefit of this approach allows me to optimize organization and the use of metadata, keywords and smartbins. I surely could use some advice. Thanks!
Excellent tutorial, Thanks. I use a Rode Wireless go into the camera, as I got sick of syncing audio, but occasionally have a lav mic into a recorder on someone else. There it is just easiest to start the mic and let it run on the other person, while my audio is starting and stopping with multiple camera clips. Can Resolve sync parts of one long audio track into multiple video clips?
Hi Alex, thanks for this great tutorial, especially the subframe movement. I now have the full version of Davinci, 18.1, but it seems this Alt + doesn't work anymore. Or am I doing something wrong?
Great videos! Thanks. One question: How to automatically sync up multiple videos with a single high quality audio track? This is needed as I record audio on an external recorder and let it run, while I keep stopping and staring the video camera (just to keep within the 30 minute video limit). I would then like to throw it all into Davinci and get the video files to sync with the single audio track.
Thanks for this knowledge. In my case after auto aligning, I cannot re link the video and sound tracks back togather. What have I done wrong?

Thank you for a great tutorial, much appreciated! I have a question, though. When you sync audio based on the waveform in Media pool, the appended sound adopts the name of the video file. Is there a way to keep the original name of the audio file?
Hi Alex, the last two tips are the most valuable to me - "," and "." as well as Alt / cursor left and Alt / cursor right. I wish there was such a possibility to fine-tune the audio level directly in the clip. Unfortunately, I still know the option of clicking the level line in the clip and dragging the mouse up or down. I can't work fine enough with that. Do you know another option?
But, but...I *like* the kung-fu out of sync settings! :-) Another great set of tips; some of the things you find are amazing!! Question/request: Can you do a short tutorial on how you read the scripts when you make these videos? Do you use a teleprompter? Is there a way to use DR as the teleprompter? I'm more interested in off-camera voiceovers than on-camera. Thanks!
There's officially no need for anyone else to ever do DaVinci Resolve tutorials ever again. These are officially the best. I have decreed it.

Heyyy Keith! That's great to hear. Thank you! Always happy to help.
Great video, thanks. Another way of moving the wav file to a sub frame level is to turn off the ‘Snap magnet’, zoom in and just drag the audio track!
YAY!!!! You're back!!!
And weirdly... you actually have the answers to something I have been looking for....
TBH: Got a copy of a Premiere work folder... where the files are in two different folders... I can't for the life of me, make out anything... it's in a weird format as well... Something that I haven't seen in over 5 years....
Always awesome tutorials.
Thanks Brian :)
Subframe alligment is just a killa-feature! Thank u, Alex! 👍
Wish i knew about the sub-frame scribing sooner. Thank you
This is a monster tip!! Way better than PPro. I am so glad I paid for Davinci. Syncing on a folder must save a ton of time. Thanks man! Cheers!
Thank you,,, I was finding it difficult to sync with video,,, error was few Nano second,,, now your method has helped me.
God bless you Mr. Alex!!! Thank you
To be honest, ive synced manually for last 2 years as I didnt trust this auto sync option. Now I see it works great and will give it a try. And what you show to be able to sync multiple at once, you saved me bunch of a time!
Eazzzzzy Peazy! You are the maximum knowledge, minimum time KING!

This is genius and answers so many questions for me. Thanks Alex!!

Thank you Alex
Thank You. best tutorial in youtube about this topic
Awesome video. The sub-frame scrubbing helped me with some audio that was out of sync on some video clips. Thank you.
You wont believe this but I have a project I shot this week with 4 cameras and needed to bone up on this feature… brilliant. Once again a clear and precise tutorial… mahalo mate.

The killer part in the end of the video. Is something I have been struggling with form time to time.
It is a life saver 😉
thank you so it can fail sometimes and not allign too perfectly
Thanks so much for this. Saved me hours.
Very straight forward and informative!
Thanks. I've got recordings from various sources that I need to sync up with the video and this is exactly what I need to know. Now, if only I could have got them in sync in the live production - but that's a whole different can of worms.
Ha yes live producition is another thing entirely! Best of luck 😊
Very good tips especially for newbies. thanks
Good stuff , helped me out😁
YAY no more clapping at the start of the video! *Clapping for Alex instead
Thank you so much, I was so frustrated with Davinci Resolve because I couldn't figure out how to manually sync my audio and video manually, I did the auto sync and it was close but still not at the right place and didn't know how to move it slightly to the left.

The "Alt" button tip is awesome. Thank you!

That last tip was exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much, chief!

Wow that's tips for real!!! Great!
Nice thanks again Alex.
I'm getting educated. Thank you.
Great content! Thank you, Alex.
👌 very helpful tutorial, thanks
Perfect! This is what I needed as a person recording video and audio separately.
Totally agree - sub-frame scrubbing is killer! They really should advertise that better in the UI somehow.
Congrats on the 80k
Not long to go now!!
Thanks dude ☺️☺️

Super helpful, love the keyboard shortcut suggestions.

“Easy, peasy”. Great. Always. Thank you. P.s. By the way what are those LED lights behind you? they look great. Thanks.
Great one! Just enter in davinci's world
