Landscape Painting Time-lapse | "A Lasting Impact"

  • Inspired by Saint Mary Lake in Glacier National Park, this new oil painting of mine is an attempt to express my passion and love for wildlife and the outdoors. I was so impacted by a brilliant sunrise we saw this past summer that I knew I had to try and capture the feeling of it. Experiences like this as well as encounters with wildlife can be timeless. Everything leaves "A Lasting Impact" on the landscape and those who roam it. It's why I love the wilderness so much.

      Especially since this is an oil painting and thus requires a day or two minimum of drying time before you can add another layer without it muddying what you laid before. Then once it's done it'll need 2 months to dry out completely and then varnished. That's why I much prefer acrylics and watercolor. I still have to varnish them to protect them afterward and I don't get the easy blending time oils have but those are easily worked around.

      @dave5194 4 роки тому +1

      TheScrubDesigns thank you! I just had to put my thoughts into words 🤗. It’s a truly special thing when a piece of art inspires emotions this intense isn’t it? It reminds me why art is so important after being desensitized by so much pure photo realism paintings. They can be incredible, and I mean incredible. There’s one where my favorite part is the mud in the muddy road, because the artist rendered it so gob-smackingly realistically that it looked like a screenshot from Battlefield V with ray tracing on.
      But that’s the problem; you can render that kind of extreme hyper realism with relative ease through computer graphics. To do that by hand is certainly a masterful show of technical skill, but once I’ve gotten desensitized to that, there’s not a whole lot else that compels me to feel inspired. I love Chuck’s work because it combines amazing technical skill with the emotion he feels for these beautiful landscapes. It’s similar to realism, but it’s fantastical, viewed through the rose tinted lens of nostalgia instead of a camera lens (I can’t believe I just came up with that line on the spot lmao).
      And in my opinion, that is the tremendous value that these paintings have that other paintings lack.

    Is he recalling all of this from his memory, or is he looking at a photo the took that day? If memory? Dang this guy has some incredible brain cells. I can’t recall the color of my cats most day’s.

    Although I really appreciate and love your final pieces, I REALY Love your block ins. Have you considered doing more impressionist pieces that pretty much stop at your block in? Would love to see a real time video of the block in phase (well would just love to see some more videos in general).
