- The Accord receives a mid-cycle refresh from Honda for 2021. On the Accord hybrid Honda took the changes a little further. On the outside you will find a new grill and updated front fascia, headlights, and 19in wheels. On the inside the touring trim gets wireless Apple CarPlay & Android auto. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 paired with an electric motor to produce 212HP. Is the 2021 Honda Accord Hybrid a better sedan than the Camry or Sonata?

I leased one of these in the EX-L trim on April 2. I’m very happy with it. Getting around 46 mpg on average.
The Accord will always be the king of its segment.
Looking forward to the redesign
@CodeBoss911 Yes, between July 2022 and September 2022 is when they will reveal the 11th generation which will be completely redesigned inside and out
Very pretty car, finally Hybrids don't look like they came out of a sci-fi movie. Not a fan of the transmission/engine sound but hey it cruises like a dream. Thanks Lori for a steady hand 😁👌
Dangit Joe, I'm trying to NOT buy a car and you're here convincing me I should. LOL Love your content. Newly subbed.

My first hybrid sedan! Amazing video Joe.

My 2018 Audi A4 Quat P+ was totaled in a rear end collision July 2022. Purchased a 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring. The interior is no Audi but let me tell you this Accord Hybrid is a great car so far you won't be disappointed.
Great review, keep up the great work.
I’m seriously thinking about going this route for my next car now. It looks nice, seems fun enough, and can fit some kiddie car seats.
Just purchased the 2022 Accord Touring Hybrid on Pearl white, Added rear deck spoiler, black front grill , black wrapped the chrome around windows, and the bottom chrome strip from the door to rear bumper.
I purchased the V1 smoked rear taillights and it completely changes the controversial rear lights.
LOVE IT
That is awesome man! Congrats on your Accord!
Joe, you just passed a red Venue. I'm getting a kick out of mine and getting 33+ mpg with a little bit of a lead foot. Keep going 💪

I am so in love with this car.
Taillights aside, I would pick the Accord. Since I don’t need a hybrid I’d pick the turbo model. Nice review Joe! Great work Lori!!

I've seen some really nice aftermarket tail lights driving around New York
My boy Joe keep up the work and I love the video lot real true and funny 😄😆🤣good 💯💯💯
I'll take this Honda, please. Gotta change with the times lol. If they went a little more aggressive with the muffling of the exhaust note, it wouldn't be quite as unpleasant. I'm hoping one gets used to the needle being pegged, though. Waiting for the redesign! Thanks for all your hard work, Lori!

That’s some battle between that and Toyota Camry.
Two great, reliable vehicles.
The current Camry has proven to be more reliable than the current Accord. Although I’d stil buy the gas Accord, I’d go with the hybrid Camry
@@alh06 that’s how it always been between the two. I’m 2021 I don’t see a reason to go with an engine choice over a hybrid unless it’s a V8 option lol

It's amazing to see the current gen Accord holding down the fort like it does with so many fresh offerings coming out.
I can't imagine how hard Honda is about to come out swinging with the 11th gen Accord against the really tough competition from Kia and Hyundai.
What's the consensus view on the Accord driver's seats? I've heard quite often that you need to buy at least the EXL model to get seats that have a decent level of comfort on long trips.
Thanks God I will buy one for myself
The 48 mpg on the Hybrid Accord is very impressive.
it's on the lowest trim only. the Highest trim level has about 42 or 43, i forget which.
@@McGooness i know that. The touring gets 41 and the EX gets 48.
Those are the inflated numbers, I want to see real fuel economy figures, usually 3-5 under the epa like the Camry hybrid
@@paladin3116 Camry and Accord Hybrid on fuelly are low 40's with Toyota a mpg or two higher. Honda hybrids usual lose efficiency when going over the speed limit.
@@joeyGalileoHotto my 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in sees almost 40 mpg in hybrid mode.
All hybrids use the engine to power a generator and the wheels at the same time. They gain charge when the car is cruising, because the engine is more efficient when it generates more power than the car needs. For example, the engine in this Accord would be 33% efficient at 55 mph if all it generated was the 15 HP needed to maintain that speed. But it can be over 40% efficient if it generates 34 HP and uses 19 HP to charge the battery. (In fact, it is a myth that hybrids gain net charge from regenerative brakes. They need to use more charge getting back to the same speed, than they recaptured while slowing.)
What is different about the Honda hybrids, is that in most situations, the engine powers _only_ a generator. It is a "Generator Electric Vehicle" instead of a "Battery Electric Vehicle." That's why the engine revs are not in sync with the speed. The engine is only connected to the wheels between about 45 and 75 mph, and only if the load is low.
Some other points: There are 4 levels of regen braking, not 3. Level 1 is always on, so you can increase it by 3. But that only applies when you are not pressing the brake pedal. If you are, the car applies regen automatically and seamlessly. SPORT mode doesn’t necessarily turn on the engine. But it tries to maintain a higher level of charge in the battery than NORMAL or ECON do, so there is enough for acceleration. So changing to SPORT usually will need to charge the battery. In fact, it is a good trick for passing on the highway. Switch to SPORT, and the clutch disengages without revving high. Then press the accelerator, and you will get better 50-70 mph times than what is published.
Great advice about slipping in sport for the 50 to 70, i always thought it was the one major down side to the driving
Nice looking car!
Love your contents Joe. Can you make review on VW Taos?
I will get that together for you!

It's crazy how the Hybrid is faster than the 1.5 Turbo engine. Amazing.
Hi joe great review as always..
Joe next month most probably I'll buy the new Honda civic 2022 but I'm little confused between Sport trim or EX trim.i will drive most of the time in the city, when I compare mpgs Ex is better than sport but what about the engine ? Will turbo engine be reliable than naturally aspirated engine in the long run??please help me out on this ..thank you
I got this joe. Any naturally aspirated engine will last longer than a turbo. Turbos can maybe last 150k or less. Turbos put more pressure on the engine

Can someone do a quick yey or ney on whether i should choose the touring vs the ES300h ( LEXUS). Looking for comfort, ( smooth ride) ventilated seat and moonroof. thanks
i have this.... just bought 2 weeks ago
I was shopping for a mid size sedan just two weeks ago. I really was considering the Accord Hybrid, but I'm 6' 4" tall and with the sunroof my head was brushing the roof. Plus the Honda dealers in my area just wouldn't deal with me. I ended up getting a Subaru Legacy Touring XT. May not be a hybrid, but I have plenty of head and legroom, its quieter and better riding, has a lot of power with the turbo and the dealer wasn't gouging (got it for 5% under MSRP).
Thanks for sharing that great input from your experience!
Those things are pricey! I got a brand new 2018 CT6 2.0E plug-in with 575 miles for $38K.
Love this Dandy of a Hybrid Accord and I enjoy the Range Rover Sport SVR and it's a dandy!
I have this car, love everything about, but the wireless car connection ApplePlay; it lags and gets very annoying sound quality. Maybe it’s my OCD but now I only use it wired lol
I know they’re not on the same schedule but the new Civic’s interior leapfrogged the Accord’s IMO and I wish the Accord got the same treatment

Any reveal date for the 2022 Toyota Tundra and Lexus RX 350 AWD?
Yeah I think it looks better than the Camry and the sonata
I don't think people buy hybrid for look, they buy it for MPG, which the accord can't beat both of those cars in.
Good review. One question: When you went "on throttle", did you inadvertently turn on the wrong engine? Was that my Toro Lawn Mower under the hood???😂

It doesn't. But, acceleration compared to Camry. 🤔
The 1.5t Accord is slower than the Hybrid. Pretty sweet.
Honda Accord Touring + Rav4 Prime engine = Honda Accord Premium edition. The ultimate hybrid.

I definitely would have to get rid of those 19-in wheels living in New York City. Bad gas mileage and the potholes would destroy my tires my rims and my suspension
Why zonk the hood arm? If I have to lift the hood that much then why am I buying it? Plus save the cost for better more useful features. Am I right or zonk warranted?

I hope the redesign changes the stapler taillights. Only thing about the Accord that I don’t like.
I drive the hybrid accord, it’s awesome! Not for everyone. The engine noise is their only when you floor it. Due to the torque it’s accelerates very quickly and you randomly hear it. The noise is fake on most hybrids mandated for safety. I wish they could leave as quite as possible. The next gen will be interesting hopefully a larger battery. It’s a very expensive car to make, maybe a EV for Acura.
Sorry joe what you said at 6:01 is incorrect. The Camry hybrids engine can also power the wheels and charge the battery like the Accord.
Thanks for the info.
Yes, it is.
I've noticed Honda brings out an all new model often times by the end of the year. You'd have to wonder if an all new Accord will arrive by the end of this year. This generation arrived by the end of '17 as an '18 model.
I'm counting on that. I'm happy with my 19.. But I hope! They keep the formula and maybe add AWD on the mix well overdue by now.
Been 5 yrs damn
@@curiosityredpill7030 ever asked for an all new merc or bimmer? you can pay 6 figures for those cars and they share a strong resemblance to their 70s design
Can’t beat the price of the sonata though!
@@NeoHCgbz that’s the one thing i never understood and made zero sense. People go out and buy those crappy low quality American cars or buy a questionable Korean car because it’s cheaper than after it breaks down and needs to be repaired than the price basically equals the toyota or more. Koreans are not proven yet until maybe 5-10 more years because their new gen cars haven’t been out long enough and miles haven’t been racked up yet. Their old gen cars were known to be cheap junk that fall apart

If you want design and good mpg go for the Accord, if you want more mpg and an aggressive design, go with the Sonata or the Camry but interior, definitely go with the Sonata
I’d take the Camry for reliability and more fuel economy. I like the Honda but if I’m getting a hybrid I want max MPGs and Toyota hybrids can go 200k on original battery if maintained and I don’t trust korean cars
