People on Claremont Avenue, and later on in the opera community, had heard rumors for years. I myself heard an alarming one, which I won't repeat here, as he can afford better lawyers than I. So for those of you who can't understand how it could be hidden for so many years, they develop a very strong protective bubble of powerful people, and it's clear that you don't mess with them. Will justice be served? Perhaps.

Nobody can judge a molested person for waiting years or decades to talk about his/her abuse. Unless we have been abused or raped, we can’t understand how it feels. We don’t know how humiliating, intimidating it may feel. We also have to understand that sometime the abusers are influential people in certain areas, as in this case, and that contributes to the victims feelings about coming out and talking about the abuse. Nobody is entitled to judge.

I totally disagree. You don't have to wait THIS long. Just wait long enough so the accused has no chance to prove that he didn't do it, ruin his or her career without any court ruling and in the end grab a nice sum of money, write a book, do the grande media tour and revitalize your career, which you deserve as you are a "survivor". Ten years ago I was beaten up badly by a neighbor who lived next door. Right out of the hospital I went to the police, took a lawyer, it went to court and the mf went to jail. Was I afraid that he would retaliate? Yes, but this was what I had to do right at that time, not 15 years later. I guess James Levine would not have come with a baseball bat after Albin Ifsich.

@@agamemnonpadar5706 That was YOUR experience, and you can’t obligate others to do as you did. The trauma people experience after being sexually assaulted is immense, and however awful your experience may have been, people react different to these experiences. Also, not everybody has the chance to write books, go on tour and promote themselves after opening up about their experiences. Many of the victims are silenced and ignored. So, I beg to differ.
PS Very sorry about your bad experience with your neighbor. I’m glad you were able to overcome that.

@@jairosantanafigueroa4139 I still stay with my my point. 10 years or later is too late to go public. The accused has no chance to proof his innocence, especially other people will, if you are famous or them have a grudge with you, jump the band wagon for a free ride. And I was only talking about the one who write books, go on tour and promote themselves. The rest is of no interest in this context.

Reminds me of the opera Don Giovanni. Don Giovanni sniffed out the most emotionally vulnerable women and then seduced them by promising marriage. Levine sniffed out the most emotionally vulnerable students and seduced them by promising a special relationship which would lead to professional success.

All this faux outrage! It’s now become fashionable to say “me too”. But if I’m not mistaken, it takes two to tango. And six years gives one plenty of time to say “no”. But he didn’t say no. So he probably liked it. Go figure his motive now. Money? Fame? Did he not make it as a musician and this is his way to get some attention? Despicable sack of shit. Speak out when it happens, not 30 years later when you can’t enjoy it any more.

@Tullius, I'm inclined to agree with you 110% on this one!! The only crime that was committed, involving Maestro Levine, was the unfortunate demise of a great & talented man's career, which lead to his death!! I can't understand, how all these people can watch a news clip on YT, or read an article, then start passing judgment & spreading rumors! Especially, when nobody even knows if these accusations were true! The saddest part is, that instead of letting him have his day in court, they ruined the man without ANY PROOF!!! Peter Gelb, & the other board members of the Metropolitan Opera Co, should be ashamed of themselves, for forcing the maestro out of his position as music director! A position he held for over 40 years!!!
Forget the fact that all these "victim's" conveniently waited until the statute of limitations were up & think about WHY for a sec! These "victim's" saw a rich & talented older man, at the top of his career, they saw an opportunity! For some of them, I sure that played a big part as to why they slept with him all those years ago! They were all gay men,, &, if you've ever been to an LGBTQ+ vacation community, like Provincetown, or even been to an LGBTQ+ bar/club, you'd know that gay guy's have NO problems screwing whoever they want, whenever they want!! My own uncle is a gay man, &, he even said Maestro Levine got screwed over big-time! (no puns intended)
