- Music Director Emeritus James Levine and legendary tenor Plácido Domingo, two of the Met's most beloved artists, join General Manager Peter Gelb to discuss their current collaboration in "Nabucco" and their long careers with the company.
This is such a lovely interview! I wish it could have been longer; I could listen to these gentlemen share their wisdom all day. Thank you so much for sharing!!
I certainly agree!
Thank you so much for uploading!!
I'm still jealous: Sitting next to these great masters is a dream!
You and me both! :)
Two brilliant artists, one savvy GM. Every life suffers bittersweet moments and all of these gents are just as human as you and me.
All too human - both disgraced as a result of a long history of sexual abuse, pedophilia, coercion, and blackmail - great music (except Levine's heavy-handed historically uninformed Mozart) - despicable human beings.
Richard Webb pffff It doesn’t even worth it to talk with idiots like you
Richard Webb it’s because of dumbass like you that those great artist are having problems
Tikrasis
Met elitas!
Domingo,
Levine!
Respect!🌹🌹🌹

@Jacob Christopher yea, have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :D
Wonderful testament to a thrilling body of work by two great artists!
James Levine a GENTLEMAN?????
He's a fucking DEGENERATE.
both disgraced as a result of a long history of sexual abuse, pedophilia, coercion, and blackmail - great music (except Levine's heavy-handed historically uninformed Mozart) - despicable human beings.
Great maestros
Puiki komanda
Levainas ir
Domingo!🌺🌺🌺
I listened and watched this interview with a broken heart... In light of James Levine's recent Fall From Grace
Nice to see that you don't give a shit about his victims.
When I first watched this video I certainly did not see what was coming -- one down and one "waiting". But Peter Gelb can certainly get away with everything with hands clean with the lawsuits settled, preventing more dirt exposed to the public.
Why have we tried so hard to destroy these fantastic artists. RPI Jimmy.
Because they deserved it. (And Levine was overrated anyway.)
'brain job not a voice job' = so often so-called technical challenges can be mitigtaed by simply 'knowing' the piece mentally
Labai įdomus pokalbis!
Such a shame about allegations regarding their private lives, If you look at the lives of some great composers and artists you will unfortunately encounter numerous moral failings and character flaws which in most cases they compensate for through their great artistic brilliance and creativity which they masterfully detach from their ‘human’ shortcomings, we have to see things in focus and in the context of the absurdities of the human condition in general
Two of the best artists ever. They did not deserve what the Met was doing to them !
You really are a perverted twisted piece of shit.
Thanks, Dolores!
You think he didn't deserve the 3,5 Mill that the MET paid him?
@@snortedthelot7429 I don`t talk about money - music was his life !
Two extraordinary musicians who gave the best time to the MET, next to which he threw them in an ignominious way.
@UppityG Livestockian
Very creative use of the word "gent". Meaning: What a pity Levine got caught.
Such a shame career's were terminated by sex scandals. There seems no forgiveness today, no understanding of human frailty and mercy for vanity.
these allegations are not proven yet.
@@Felipe.Taboada. At least the allegations against Domingo were extremely exaggerated.
@Seb G It was more visible in his case, because he was in a wheelchair. Levine's partners for intimate companionship were of rather small posture, so he had to bend forward constantly, which caused pains in his back.
Often vanity prevents from apologizing.
Interesting how early in this film a reference is made to a "kid's" potential. I wonder how many young people today are missing out on opportunities because these old men won't retire?
I hope you're joking...
D MM Why should they retire? They are both still doing very well with the material they have remaining, they know the style, and they have so much to offer.
D MM How many young artists get more widely known, because they are standing next io this " old men"?
Sigrid Lind maybe 'retire' was too harsh. All I'm saying is that when you're 70+ maybe you should stand aside from at least some of the limelight to allow others the chance to shine.
D MM All involved in this Nabucco got equally good reviews. An artist is an artist as long as he livs or as long he has inspiation. It doesn't matter if he is a painter, a novelist, a poet, an operasinger, a composer or a conducter.
Yeah, right. The Met didn`t see, hear, or speak anything for 40 years. That´s rich
. I´m really glad this was revealed. Just in time, barely.
It s a shame and a pity that great artists like those men are very bad human beings.....
Normaly it shouldn t happen but....the taste of power is limitless.
It's all about arrogance... arrogance that drove The Anointment of "Jimmy" as Principal Conductor in 1972 - a mere 8 months after his first Tosca at the MET (even though there were dozens of conductors with greater musicianship and experience)... arrogance that manufactured the "genius Maestro" myth, protected their cash cow, and shamefully covered up for his crimes... arrogance of all the fanboys who wink-winked at what they knew was going on... and the ultimate arrogance of "one rule for us inner circle of culturati and another rule for the rest of you shleps..."
both disgraced as a result of a long history of sexual abuse, pedophilia, coercion, and blackmail - great music (except Levine's heavy-handed historically uninformed Mozart) - despicable human beings.
