My house has them growing in the front yard, I wasn't sure when to pick then. Some people say their aren't that great but I just ate one fresh and it's almost identical to the taste of Kiwi but more sweeter and less tangy.
Hi Produce Guy! I just moved into a house that had a fig tree. They're coming off the tree looking great, but we don't have any idea what to so with them! Can you make an episode on figs, please?
I can and would love to, but not sure I can get to it in time for your use this season. I love figs...SO MUCH!! We had a tree in our backyard in CA when I was growing up and they were just delightful. So good right off the tree and of course they are great as a dried fruit.
I'm about to slice open the 2nd type you showed (from grocery store) to try for 1st time so thanks for your video! And hope your friends farm is still in biz as my Mom just moved to southern FL so will let her know to check them out! Thanks😊
I really like Dragon Fruit. I prefer the red fleshed one more. Especially when using them in a smoothie. But since our frutique burnt down we can only get what the grocery store brings in and that is the white flesh fruit.
In Viet Nam they are very common, espeacialy in Binh Thuan province where you can see them everywhere and Binh Thuan is the most place dragon fruit can be grown very well. Moreover we also have blue fleshed and yellow peel but they are not too common. :))
I am most likely going to try a Dragon Fruit within the next couple of days. There are not a lot in my area; so I am excited to try them for the first time!
Thank you so much for your videos. I had watched this one several days ago. Today I saw my very first Dragon fruit at Festival Foods in Marshfield, WI. Because of the tips you gave about selection, I had no problem picking just the right one. It is tasty with it's white center.
Also, just want to say...thank you, Mr. Produce Guy, for all your hard work, time and efforts in teaching us all about the various produce out there. I've watched your video after video after video this morning- all interesting! Ha, yes, a lot of unregretable time spent here but I must go feed my hubby breakfast now. I'm new...I've subscribed too! Just thought a big THANKS was in order seeing all I've learned from you already. Btw, hubby & I are into juicing (watched Joe Cross's 'Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead' documentary; hubby's a diabetic; juicing has helped decrease his insulin shots- Amazing!) so the knowledge I've gained from you WILL GO A LONG WAYS! So thanks very much, Mr. Produce Guy!!😉
Thank you for your videos. I always search you when I'm curious about a fruit or vegetable. I'm definitely going to order some dragonfruit from this farm. My HEB grocery doesn't have it. Have you done a video on jackfruit ?
Ah a Texan, They should sell DRAGON Fruit in most of the Central Texas stores. I am a native and recently moved to philly. I have my mother ship me some along with big red which is scarce here in Philly. So if your near the Baylor or Temple Texas HEB they should have them. Not sure about Harker Heights or Killeen stores. Good luck on your searches.
Oh wow. Now THAT is a beautiful fruit! ♡ I realize you can eat it as is, but I looked up some recipes and found so many. :-O One picture showed perfectly cut squares of dragon fruit and kiwi on skewers made into fruit kabobs. Another was of a dragon fruit sorbet, served in the pretty red hollowed out halves. Yum. You've got a great friend down there in Homestead, Florida, our Produce Guy! :0)
Hi Produce Guy. My question regards to how dragon fruit can effect my blood glucose levels. I'm a type 2 diabetic and am learning my way around food. Thanks.
That would be a challenge at the moment as I don't have a source for a fresh one. Honesty, I have never worked with them and in fact saw them fresh on our trip to the Philippines in March but never got the courage up to try one. Funny thing, if you check out the photo section on the Facebook page, you can see a sign on the door of our hotel room that said "no pets or durian fruit allowed in the room." So, that was fun. I will see what I can do.
How you just not gonna show the red flesh one… as you said, we’re used to seeing the white flesh ones… would have been cool to see the red ones in the video
Hi, i wanted to ask you because you seem like you’d know, if the white fruit in the dragon fruit looks like an orange/brownish color is faded into the white flesh, is that just over ripeness or fungus? Thanks 🙏🏻
I like Dragon Fruit a lot. Not sure if it is because I like dragons or the fruit - perhaps a little of both. :p I would have to check out their growing practices before I ordered anything. They sound a lot like the prickly pears that grow wild all around me. Maybe I should just try to grow my own dragon fruit. - Heidi
I bought the white one a few days ago. My first ever dragon fruit. Imagine my surprise and disappointment when I finally cut it open only to have it taste like nothing. 🤨 It looked exactly like the one in your video so I'm sure it's rip. How disappointing. I'll use it in a smoothie once I get some more ingredients.
Fascinating stuff YPG, we can get Dragon Fruit fairly easily here in my local store but I wasn't aware of the variety. I love this fruit, it's got that real wow! look. Thanks for another great video buddy.. Steve #steveskitchen #ypg
White is practically flavorless, but the red has a subtle sweetness to it. Made me think of a crunchy banana. Yellow ones apparently have the sweetest flavor, but are less common

I love dragon fruit..masarap na healthy pa..thank you forr sharing
Ohhh white dragon fruit is so good! It has a texture and mouth feel just like a kiwi but the taste of a green melon or a young watermelon!
Yellow dragon fruit is the sweetest and taste like candy

Make a pie... or pies and start selling them.
What a problem lmao

Just used this video to choose my first dragon fruit. Thanks, I got a good one.
My favorite part is actually because they are pink. I love mixing it in my oatmeal in my yogurt and then it feels like I’m eating pink yogurt!
Thank you ! I was given a couple of them today but didn´t know how to eat it (not even its name). Thanks.
I loooove dragon fruit! Glad they're in season now
In Viet Nam they are very common, espeacialy in Binh Thuan province where you can see them everywhere and Binh Thuan is the most place dragon fruit can be grown very well. Moreover we also have blue fleshed and yellow peel but they are not too common. :))
so basically, once you buy one at the store they are ready to eat once you get home? no waiting?
That’s a good question
I don't know how I found myself on this channel but it's so compelling to watch, I can't stop!

Some reason the yellow dragon fruit is always so much sweeter than the other varieties, when I go shopping.
He said there's only 3 types of dragon fruit, but there are many more varieties, purple and so , some have different outer skins
They're so psychedelic looking.
Nice vid, thanks for sharing.
Thanks this helped now I can eat my yummy dragon fruit
No, you cut it in half, you cut it into four slices, then you just simply peel the skin off.
Sadly he died a few weeks ago.

THIS IS THE COOLEST FRUIT
Have you done a video for Jackfruit already?
I was wondering if you have ever come across the paw paw and if you would consider doing a video on the fruit...
Just tried one and it had zero taste, it cut very easily and was soft so I’m assuming it was ripe enough. Is there a better time to try it?
everytime i get one from the store i pick the "right one" and it never comes out sweet. it has no flavor
The actual name is Pitaya
I love dragon fruit and good for health

Cool!👍Looks yummy😛 Question- Can Dragon Fruit be juiced?
Review a DURIAN FRUIT.....
Basically a exotic kiwi without the sourness
I just started eating dragon fruit, how often should it be eaten, and how much?
Is this all the same for picking a ripe white dragon fruit?
+YourProduceGuy Can you please do a When Is It Ripe video on pears? 🍐
I don't see a link to order the fruit.
Never had Dragon Fruit, does it taste like kiwi?
Cheryl K yes almost but lil sweet if ripe
Yes that is what it tastes like to me. But a little more watery

How come they are so expensive ? There like 5 bucks each in Canada. Sure good though !

I ordered some on eBay 👍🔥
