Looks like a calm day compared to average weekend in Lake Erie.
@cowlumbus was actually very very rough but the go pro fisheye camera lens makes the waves look much smaller than they were. Some of those waves were over our heads.
i wakeboarded in the ocean in the gulf with a 2021 with 3 ft swells handles pretty good thats me outside the bay in alabama in my pic with jet boat
14. Foot 8 foit jeans waves haned 8 foiter easy
Awesome video as always Will! Would love to see a longer version of this.
We'll likely do a longer version now that we've seen that the demand is there for it.
@@JetBoatPilot awesome! Thank you!
Buy. 315. It's yaght t. Ac generatirs
20 degree deadrise helps a lot! Much better than a flat deck boat
thanks allot was wondering.....
That looks like a tame day comparing to Barnegat Bay in N.J. which is like that almost all the time. Have a 2011 AR-240, things can get very rough quickly there. Thanks for sharing, be safe and God Bless!
The go pro camera lenses have a way of making everything look smaller. They were over my head at times. Truly the kind of stuff you'd run away from if you had your family onboard.
There's always that one person who's gotta chime in with a story about how they've got it harder
Cool video. I live in S. Florida and it would be used primarily in the bay. It would be all salt water all day. Is that a bad idea? Don't know if these jet boats are good option for bay cruising more than waterspoat use.
They make great bay boats! In fact the largest Yamaha Boat dealer in the world is in Tampa and the water there is mostly bays and gulf.
@@JetBoatPilot thanks for that option. I also saw your video on a spray that hells with corrosion. Great to view that one as well.
Great video. Been thinking about the FSH series. The 220 Sport or 222 Sport. I think this has same hull. Your thoughts on if would be good fishing/family boat for 4 adults and maybe 6 from time to time.
Yes, same hull and will handle rough just as well.
222
when do you hit the rough stuff?
Please make a wakeboarding AND wakesurfing video to review the wake with full ballast.. please please please
Will do when the water gets warmer
Can you guys do a quick video on where to spray anti corrosion spray for a jet boat engine? I recently had to replace my steering cable because it got so rusted from salt water. Wanted to make sure I don’t have any issues with salt on my jet boat. Should I be spraying down the engine compartment and the thrusters on the lower unit itself? Thanks

Take it to haulover! ...you wouldn't be the first lol.
I took my AR195 when it was brand new out in rough water in FL Keys, perhaps even a little more. The whole family was very wet, but it handled surprisingly well. Nose never dove in or felt unsafe. The 22 being quite heavier and larger looks really good. What do you think about the very reduced storage space?
The reduced storage is really only on the X models. But on the X model I really wish there were more storage.
Buy yamha 315. Jet yaght
@@sharonbraselton3135 Calm down Sharon.
These are lake boats. You're putting your family in danger taking a lake boat in the ocean.
I must say, that was very little rough. But I really want a Center console Yamaha 21 footer for fishing. It I live 3.5 hrs from the beach (Charlotte) and can’t quite justify the expense being a retired 65 yr old. In another life I guess.
It's the best we had on film day. We'll try to post another follow up if we can get out in some rougher seas.
You’ve probably been putting off things you want for a while. Splurge and just make it work.
Or join a boat club.
@@nickcooper7867 you are absolutely correct, need to convince the wife 🤣
Get evootuin 552 150 hp jet out b ard
Thanks Will. How would you compare the handling as compared to the previous hull design? I have a 2021 212SE. Tell me is similar so I don’t have to upgrade!
Not sure compared to yours, but the X handles like a dream! It is super quick to steer, mainly due to the drive system. So much fun.
Will, Any update on taking delivery of your 222 FSH?
No, probably not happening till at least early summer, if not fall....ugh
Wow, Don’t think I am going to wait that long. May have to rethink my decision. Thanks
How well does it do in the chop compared to say a 190 FSH? I ordered a 222 FSH and hoping the new hull is better than my 190 in gulf chop. Also I was told early spring delivery. You think it's summer to fall now?
Definitely better in the chop than the 190FSH, it's longer and heavier.
Where did you get your mirror to see when towing? Would like to buy one
We sell them at jetboatpilot.com email me if you need help will@jetboatpilot.com
Would like to know if you have tested smart tabs on any of the 19 1/2 foot Yamaha boats yet? I have the 195S and thinking about adding a set to my 2023. Your thoughts?
I have not but a friend of mine has and he loved his. Check out the FSHDude on UA-cam.
@@JetBoatPilot Thank you.
@@danaberman6929 You're welcome!
Not needed small boat
how much did they change the bowrise on this hull? Seems like they could even go a few inches higher and nobody would mind.
Not sure the number but it's better than older models.
Not even close to rough in this video? I am thinking of buying one and worried about lake chop at 4 -6 feet on Lake Michigan. Ocean rollers have a bit more space
4-6 is not the kind of water you want to have any boat out in. A pontoon boat is best suited for less than 2 footers. But also the camera we used has a fisheye lens and the size of the wave does not appear early as large as they really were. Those waves were over my head at times.
Could you please play the crappy music at a higher volume so we for sure cant hear the motors.
I never saw the rough stuff?? Looked absolutely calm
Go pro lens makes everything look flat. It was pretty hairy from my perspective. Not a day I'd want to take my family out in.
Looks like you were in flat water and ran over your wake to make it look rough, then showed some zoomed in video of the breakers on the rocks. @@JetBoatPilot
@Phil-km4up that would be deceptive and unprofessional. Not our style. Was rough that day I can assure you.
@@JetBoatPilot all about them clicks bud
I heard you can't leave these boats in the water on a dock....what's the point of a boat if you can't leave it in the water?
@seankearns4249 you can leave it in fresh water but not a good idea to leave in salt water for more than 3 days at a time.
Is this rough? 1 ft ?
The waves were over my head at times. This was very rough, but the go pro does not do it justice.
@@JetBoatPilot interesting, the front camera view shows a pretty flat ocean…
@dimsum5567 in one area where we had to turn around it was better but the Gulf waters were pretty rough that day, definitely not the kind of water I'd want to take the family out in.
Go too haulover for a real test
That is hardly rough, take it out on a nice choppy day on any of the Great Lakes.
It was pretty nasty, but we didn't stay in it for the whole shoot. We also had some Rollers but those did not show well on camera. This boat is definitely not an off shore boat but many wonder if they would be safe if conditions changed unexpectedly and they were caught out in the rough. That's really what we wanted to address in this video.
@@JetBoatPilot any luck getting the 222fsh? I’d like to see how that one does on rough water.
@Ulices Martinez not yet. To be honest it's not likely to arrive till mid to late 2023 if what I'm hearing is correct.
Agree, we are on lake erie w/2019 242 and we have stress cracks
That’s not rough water. I traded my 19’ Yamaha for a 20’ Key West when I noticed it wasn’t fun going out on the ocean with waves.
Ocean vs Great Lakes. Totally different waves. Not a good boat for Great Lakes chop.
Defined not well suited for comfort in the rough, but solid, planted and felt safe.
@@JetBoatPilot the waves and chop in the Great Lakes are different than the ocean. They are rapid fire in the lakes. They pound the hell out of my 212. Not enough weight or outboard mass to counter act with the heavy chop. 2-3’ or more waves and you are going to have a crappy day. You have to experience it vs the ocean. I am sure my Great Lakes peer boaters can chime in with their experience as well
@@eriepazap6701 true, we get that on busy days here too. I think most any boat is going to give a rough ride in those types of conditions. I guess I wanted to respond to the many requests that we've gotten to show some rough water handling and give feedback. We'll try to get more with time.
@@eriepazap6701Yup. My 2008 212SS was terrible on the Great Lakes. Once, not again.
totally disagree. I have an AR220. Horrible in light chop compared to my I/O. Very disappointed in build quality and ride. BTW we have 6 hours on this boat.
Rough water?....
First!
Hopefully this helps you if you're considering a Yamaha 22'
@@JetBoatPilot It does! My 222XD arrives in June and will be thrown into Okanagan Lake here in BC. We can have some pretty rough water sometimes.
That is not rough water lol
It is a sin to play any music. Especially what u chose. Over the test run. We must hear the motors and wave action.
Dont do it again. Thanks.
