I hope Yamaha paid you for this, cause I think sure a through review is going to sell them a ton of boats. My hats off to you, well done bro . . .
@teter129 I wish! We've sold lots of boats for Yamaha over the years.
ALWAYS use your blower before starting an inboard engine(s)! You never know if something fuel system related is leaking...
Excellent boat and review! Just perfect 👌🏽
Thanks! We love ours!
This is the best review I’ve seen on the 222. Very detailed and in depth.
Thank you!
Great review! You covered everything I needed to know. I’m new at boat shopping and I have looked at a lot of center console boats. It’s a tough choice for me but the video was very convincing. You didn’t cover the seat material. Robalo uses a silicon material that is more resistant to mold. What type of material does Yamaha use?
Great review..best I’ve seen
Thanks! 255 FSH With HelmMaster coming up next!
Nice boat I like how you can fish and swim
Great video!
Thanks
I’m picking up mine tomorrow!!! Super excited! Thank you for the video Jetboatpilot! I’m going to make a bunch of videos as well the next year. I want to help anyone interested in this boat. I bought mine sight unseen and I’ve never seen one in person. It’s ridiculous but it is what it is. We already have plans to take this to the Bahamas so i will be able to make a ton of videos on reliability and sea worthiness. A lot of people hate on these boats for whatever reason so I’m going to test it to its limits and we shall see if its a true off shore center console.
Before you go offshore put some trim tabs on it or smart tabs. You'll thank me. It porpoises like crazy when you don't have a load in the bow.
Yes I immediately noticed that this weekend! Definitely need some cobra fins as well. Thank you for the advice
@ClemsonTi6ers check out Thrust Vector and Lateral Thruster. They're both great products and are also on sale this month foe JetBoaters.net members(free to join)
Good video. You should be spring lining the boat lines with that kind of wake chop passing by.
Please compare specs and actual dimensions to the 255 Fsh. Dead rise, freeboard, inside gunwale height ect. Thank you!
An Amazing review ! Just wanna hang out w this guy. The good, the bad and the Beautiful ! Sold!
We love our 222 FSH, especially now that we've added the Seakeeper Ride!!
Was hoping to hear or see some jets fly over hahaha.. Great videos, great products, congrats on all of it, well earned! 🍻
I know! It was quiet that day!
Hi Will, great video! Thank you for all you do as I have learned a lot from you over the last couple years we have had our 252S. Something you brought up in your video I found interesting is that the engines around 100 hours really starting to come alive. I still have a ways to go before hitting 100 hours, unfortunately. This leads me to my question, how many hours do these engines typically last for, before needing any type of major work? I have read a lot of different types of comments about this topic but can not seem to find anything concrete. Generally speaking ...
Thank you!
You won't see major repairs for many hundreds of hours! These engines are super solid. Just have Yamaha mechanics look the boat over at least once per year and you'll be golden!
Nice boat and review! You can see a flag in one of the rocket launchers in the intro. You recall what brand it is and if you offer it on jbp?
No we bought it from Home Depot
We just finished purchasing this boat, thanks to your video. Yamaha owes you a commission check. Do you have a video on how to flush the engines and how to perform the engine break in? Thank you Will for your videos
We have a great flushing video on this channel. We don't have a break in video, consult your manual for that one. I wish they paid me for every boat these videos sold. I could quit my day job! Lol
We looked at one today. What did you think of the helm seat height? I'm 6'2" and it seemed high to me. Otherwise I loved everything I saw!
It is sort of high to climb up there but then it is sort of low when you stand on the rear deck your head can hit the rocket launchers easily there's only about 5 ft 6 in clearance between the floor and the bottom edge of the rocket launchers. You just have to watch your head there
Do the seats not have struts in the bow for hands free to the storage under the seating ?
Not that I recall. I think if anything they may have a friction hinge, but I don't use the area under the seat enough even open the seat hatches. I use the access doors beneath the casting pods which makes it much easier to get in there.
What is your take on the livewell situation? Seams like there is not a lot of room for your catch. Either in the catch cooler or livewell.
Live well is pretty good size. Cooler for fish is definitely for smaller fish. If you go out salt water fishing you're going to need a bigger cooler.
What are your thoughts on installing trim tabs on it?
Probably a good idea. Will make the ride much better in the rough stuff.
I’d love to see the 255 with an electric windlass. Can these be added after-market?
They can be but it is a very custom installation
Been waiting for a review on this one! QUESTION I've been looking for an answer for all over:
What about trolling? Does the FSH have some sort of special motor, or low speed, so you can troll on it? Or do people attach an external trolling motor on these?
It comes with a trolling motor mount and it is highly recommended that you add a trolling motor if you plan on doing any serious fishing.
Piggy backing... how come you didn't opt for a trolling motor? And where do they hide 3 additional batteries?
@stevewestphal7515 I don't fish alot and the batteries go under the floor center inside the center console changing area
I’m newly shopping for a twin engine boat. I was wondering if I’m at a lake an prefer to save gas, can you run this boat on a single engine or does both always have to be running?
Both must be running if you're going to run 10mph plus. If not you can run just the one engine. Also if you clamp off the water intake line for the inoperative engine you can run faster than 10mph on the other.
Can you leave this boat docked all year round in a slip in saltwater ? . I’ve heard you can’t because you can’t paint the jet drives . What’s your thoughts and opinions on this
It's not advisable because you can't flush the engines while the boat is in the water. You van bottom paint but it really hurts fuel efficiency and top speed and also resale value.
How does the bow size compare to the AR220?
It's the same lower hull so pretty similar.
I think you just solidified the 222 for me. Been around and driven boats my whole life, but never purchased my own. What’s the standard loan time when financing a boat?
@@bryanstewart9096 up to 15 years for most lenders.
@@JetBoatPilot ever seen them with trolling motor?
@@bryanstewart9096 Yes we have. We've not done one but these boats come with a nice trolling motor mount and many have added them.
Hey Will. Do you notice a big difference between the 222 and 255 on the water? Specifically how it handles chop with the extra length on the 255. The hulls seem similar
The 255 is immensely better. The 222 porpoises alot unless you have passengers in the bow. Trim tabs would help that.
@@JetBoatPilot that is disconcerting. Sounds like the 190 or 210.
looks like there are speakers in the T-top too.
Yep, 6 total
How great is that stereo? What’s the wattage?
Not sure about the stereo. Mine has given trouble. Sounded ok when it did work but now I can't get it to work.
It is really too bad Yamaha marketing doesn't send you a 2024 to compare the new vs old engines. Everyone I know that has bought a new Yamaha boat has watched your videos. It is either Yamaha is hiding something or their product marketing was a competitor in the tide pod challenge.
Good idea.
You think they would have put tool drawer with lure tackle box in one of those storage pods
They do that standard on the 255 FSH. The 222 is still mid line for them and those features you mentioned are reserved for their largest boat. Yamaha, though a high quality brand, is also a value brand so you won't find alot of add ons until you get into the higher end of the line.
Genuine question, why a jet engine over an outboard? I know you have more room in the back but as far as maintenance?
JetBoats have fewer moving parts so they require less maintenance and also break less often. Also there's no exposed prop so no worries about little fingers and toes in the water. Also super shallow draft too. We can operate it idle power at about knee deep water.
@@JetBoatPilot thank you , still indecisive but really leaning toward the Yamaha as I have a jetski and sorta have a better understanding of its functionality comparing to the outboard
@@enmanuelmaldonado6196 you'll love it! We have been around boats for a while now, coming up on 20 years next year!
new 2024s debut soon .. any info yet Owen ?
Will share on the night of the 13th during my live stream from Yamaha's Product Premier
@@JetBoatPilot awesome .. looking forward to it !
what is the top speed of the 252se ? TY
50 mph at sea level
@@JetBoatPilot thats pretty good .. alot of SE folks are reporting no higher than 46 .. have you personally witnessed 50mph ? they also boat at ocean level .
No, but heard a few forum members say it. Definitely common to see 46-47 mph.
@@JetBoatPilot I know your going to think im off the wall for asking youthis , because how could you possibly know ..But what do you THINK of yamaha new rumored motors coming out? worth the wait till they get into boats or upgrade now .?
@@jayd1008 I'd make a decision after Monday the 14th of August
If they ever get it to where you can tow from the tower the yamaha world is going to melt down!
Dude. Don’t leave that flag on the ground. Great review on the boat
Sorry about that. It was torn so badly we had to dispose of it. I do agree though, it should have not been allowed to touch the ground, even though it was destroyed by the wind!
I think Yamaha boats are great but their quality control in the last couple years hasn’t been great. IMO the killer for me is they can not be left in the water if you boat in saltwater. Who wants to trailer every day? Not me.
True, quality took a dip during the pandemic, but so did many other companies. Today they're miles ahead of the 2021 and 2022 models. And you're right. Leaving a Yamaha in the salt water for extended periods of time is not optimal, but can be done with the proper setup and prep.
I thought the "helm master" came on this boat.
Only on the 255 FSH H for 2024
@@JetBoatPilot ahhh. Thanks Will!
@@MuffinStuffer_TV you're welcome
Come on man 10 people comfortable, Yeah right . 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿😝
I never said it was comfortable, but there's enough room for 10 butts!!
