Played through banner saga 4 times now. This seems good enough for a change of scenery, before I will eventually replay banner saga again xD
I bought 3 games fr $2 online sale by the company that made AOG Redemption. Ash of God's is Grade A 🗑! The strix management kill the game.
Entire Banner trilogy at $20. Will just buy that.
Tactics fans. Fell Seal Arbiters Mark is essentially a love letter to FFT, if you've not tried it yet, it's incredible. So many job classes, so much synergy 😀

Thank you so so much, not going to go to deep on here but I will say 100% that this has lifted my spirits a lot. It's been very dark mentally and emotionally before and after this surgery and I still have more to go. This channel always reminds me that life is worth living, hearing about the baby and how you still have passion to stay awake to do reviews makes me smile.

I paid a $1 for this on PC. I really like the game but the cost on switch is hard to swallow. One thing that bugged the crap out of me is when the characters attack they casually saunter up and swing. There is no sense of urgency and it lacks that raw emotion. It's like they gave runway models swords.
Kind of disappointed so many people are writing it off as a Banner Saga rip off. It was an enjoyable experience. (I played on PC)
well Ash is all on card? Banner is not, need download. From collector stand point easy choice for Ash. Stop only digital future!
I'm definitely going to try this game out at some point, though I do have to say I thought this was by Stoic, which it's not. It's a bit lazy that these guys copied BS so rigidly (UI, character art, combat grid, and combat encounters), I'm surprised stoic is okay with this. Hope it's good either way.
Oh wow I’m shocked this isn’t Stoic lol. That’s insane I was excited for the legendary soundtrack and strategy gameplay, guess there’s none of the here then
The art is lovely, but I'm not sure if a combination of bad translation and controls that take getting used to make up for it, particularly when there are other options that look great and don't have those issues.
I am really enjoying this game, all those issues don't take away from the fun. This is a rare breed of SRPG, as only the second one of it's kind.
If you've never played Banner Saga, that's the better game. Technically 3 games, but it flows like one big adventure.

What about AoG THE WAY? I'm enjoying it a lot, suddenly in my top 3 of turn based tactical for switch together with Into the breach, and clash of heroes. Wondering if you would like to switch it up!

Bought this right off the bat because of the art style and similarities with Banner Saga. I do however still need to play through Banner Saga. I stopped in the middle of the first, and haven't gotten around to buying the other 2.

@@SwitchUpYt Yes, definitely. I didn't know this was translated from Russian. the story itself seems really interesting, but I almost laughed in some parts with how basic the English was. Not to mention characters use a sort of modern language that does not fit this sort of medieval setting. I definitely threw me off at first, but I still thought it deserves a playthrough at least. I understand what's going on, it's just the way that it's told can be downright bad at times.
I couldn't get into Banner Saga. I tried.

Same here. I liked the story/visuals but hated the game mechanics, specifically the forced alternating turn dynamic. You had to be very careful about the order in which you killed enemies ; a strong unit being given an attack after every one of yours could be crushing.
This game is awful... The controls are absolutely useless...i cannot believe they consider this even playable. 3/10

Just paid £6 for this at Game, got two copies, sell the other, actually gonna be a £2 up.

Good looking out SwitchUp, this game got my attention because of how pretty it looks.. I still have Banner Saga and Fire Emblem Three Houses to get through, so this one gets a miss for me.
The battle music is totally lifted from the witcher 3. Looks a lot like Thronebreaker with Bana Saga combat. So much borrowing!

I really want to love banner saga, but I’m so terrible at it that I can’t finish the first one. I need to go all in on it once more and see if I can make it through.
I suggest playing with touch controls. Its weirdly better that way.

Such a big letdown, because the combat and graphic style make it look like a potentially great game.

@@SwitchUpYt Sure! Though I have to say, none of the examples you provided seemed that odd to me. And its all dialogue, which should describe the characters as they are, rather than how youd think they should be. That said, you may also be right and it wouldnt be the first time something had a dodgy translation.
I remember having some control and performance issues with the Banner Saga on Switch, but in the end what kept me going was the story and the visuals. And the soundtrack.

The combat controls are somewhat unintuitive however, and I discovered a UI related freeze bug that Ive now learned to avoid, but other than that I am really enjoying myself.
This looks bad, after all those years of playing almost all consoles i do not have a wish to play pixelated retro or sad looking games! I bought the switch for premium games, somehow there are only a few and there are to much indie rubish games. Dont wanna be to negative guys but there are to may crap games in the eshop and no way to ban them out my search options

Another excellent review! I absolutely loved The Banner Saga Trilogy, so I got interested in this game. Weird gameplay and not so great writing and a wonky story sadly tell me to pass or at least wait for a sale. Thanks for your input on this game! I actually like that TBS games are catching on art style wise and hope to see more games like this in the future. Awesome job on the review once again! 👍
You have some fair points, but alltogether I disagree with this rewiev. I am (guesswise) one third through the game and the storytelling becomes more concise over time. Having to select the stamina bar for double damage seems okay to me for a game that is supposed to make you feel the impact of your decisions. I found the controls a little bit unintuitive at first but not bad at all. It would seem to be a pretty long game. And for the time I´ve played it it has become more and more fun. Did you even play through it all?
Edit.: I assumed you played this on PC, which i am doing. So the controlls are probably way more off for you.
Second Edit.: I am two thirds into the video and now I agree with your review for the most part (lul).

I just love a good tactical turn-based game on the Switch! I feel the console is just perfect for this genre.
