Nothing wrong with it being simplistic. It is a truck and it's built to be a truck not a garage queen. People will flock to this old design and miss it, once it's gone.
Just a good simple truck and very very reliable. All the new tech of the other vehicles WILL break and when it does its going to be real expensive when your out of warranty.
I agree with Fred C.'s comment for sure. I like the truck except for the diff lock 4L limitation but 37G seems way to much for what you get. I think 27G is a more fitting number considering a normal sized adult (me) has trouble fitting in the rear seats. Nice review!
I wonder what their profit margin is on these lol. They have repaid the R&D costs tenfold. But like you said, if you want a basic reliable truck, this isn’t a bad choice. I still see them all the time.
@@EngineAdventures still love it. Once the transmission breaks in it shifts a lot smoother. Very strong engine. Gas mileage is better than the 4.0 but not enough to celebrate. No mechanical problems in almost three years and 26000 miles. Contemplating a lift kit now.
I don't know why they didn't use the existing key spot. They put a cover over it instead. Oh well, this is just a holdover until the next generation comes out.
Got a ‘20 P4X, Seems to hunt for gears, downshift is awful, can feel 3.2.1 in stops, feels like a basketball hitting the cab. Engine is noisy and squeals when ac compressor kicks on. Not loving it, traded a 12 Xterra Pro4x, ride quality is great but transmission is making me nervous. I have 700 miles on it now.
These trucks are getting so crazy with technology. You have to get a truck like this Pro4x before they disappear. Simplicity is a good thing 👍🏽

I agree, this is an excellent little truck that doesn't have all the bells and whistles that add cost and reduce reliability.
"Industrial". That's the best one word description of the Frontier's interior.

Would love to try the new powertrain but with my 4.0, its been the most reliable truck I've ever owned.
The new ones are better but unfortunately u have to clean the injectors after so many miles. Like every 30k miles
Great little truck. I traded my 2010 in for a 2020 Tacoma. I hope I don’t regret it.

No kidding. A lot of companies picked these up as delivery trucks once Ford stopped the Ranger. Cheap, simple, and reliable.

Interesting, I never noticed any of that. Maybe over time it will break in and the computer will learn what to do.
