i drove this truck a couple times as a loaner. The automatic transmission is very aggressive at downshifting when you need more power. Very old school compared to the newer transmissions that are hesitant to downshift because the car manufacturers are trying to game the mpg.
Brand new vehicle warranty, with 15 year old vehicle simplicity and reliability. Exactly why I pick my 2019 up in 3 days! Hardly any cars on the road left like that: a couple other Nissans, some Mitsubishis, and I cant think of any others for Canada/US honestly.
2019 was also the last year for the 2.5 Liter inline 4 cylinder and 4.0 Liter V6 as well as the 5 speed and 6 speed manual transmissions along with the 5 speed automatic transmission. Though 2020 and 2021 have the same exterior and interior design as the 2019 and earlier models, the only engine option is a 3.8 Liter V6 and the transmission is a 9 speed automatic.
Sounds like a snob. We don't drive trucks to get around a city, we drive them to get us onto our acreage, to tow a trailer, to go off roading with friends. "It has a key, not a fob." Like, come on dude. Who gives a crap about LED lights? Get an SUV if you want that crap. A truck is gonna get beat up if used correctly.
excellent review. i am planning to get the 2019 pro edition by the end of this month. atleast in canada, it is the best value for money compared to the other brands. is a proper 4x4, has a 4 litre v6 naturally aspirated, proper non cvt automatic transmission, locking rear differential, a timing chain instead of a timing belt.
Bought couple frontiers over the years because it was priced right for loading and hauling and overall utility vehicle. I do have major gripe with Nissan: for the life of me I don’t understand why Nissan can’t have a standard 5-foot bed with option to add-on their Utili-Track tie down system for all models. You either have a bed with the track system or a bed without an option to add the system. Their base models don’t have the option to add-on the Utili-Track system because the beds don’t have the little bump on the beds where the rails attach to. Just make it an add-on option! Either as a purchase option or to add on in the future. So just have ALL models have the bumps on the truck beds to attach their rail system...
Frontier still has a more ergonomic interior. Love the center stack, gauges, and all the interior layout. They nailed the F Alpha platform back in 2004. This has about another year before the next generation but it will still rest on the F Alpha platform.
Honestly...I keep gravitating back to this for a pickup. Cheap, simple, reliable, proven, nice v6 with a good growl. Not a lot of tech to break inside or in the engine.....
This point is exactly why i got my 2018Pro4X. I paid 25K cash. It had only 19 K miles. Did a 2 1/2 inch lift, thats it. Nothing else except for all lights converted to LED.
Nice review. Well done. Although, the odometer in the video showed 8 miles and you were flooring it on the test drive - something the manufacturer says not to do within the first 500 miles... :/
@eagleeye128 It's a truck? You don't say! Thank you for establishing the obvious. I'm sure your keen observations skills have not gone unnoticed in your life.
i love the cup holders, i can fit a giant stanley thermos in it lol, and the inserts are nice cuz you can throw them in the dishwasher every now and then
ive got an 03' F150 and its kind of a money pit because it wasnt maintained very well previously. Really am enjoying how this Frontier stacks up even though it isnt a V8, ive had Ford Rangers and Dodge Dakotas so mid size trucks are really nice I think. Aside from the trucks ive had several SUVs...97' K1500 Suburban, 96' Landcruiser, couple Honda CR-V's and Jeep Wranglers. Really got my eye on a Frontier now, but most likely a later model on with the six speed transmission for the fun factor
One of my favorite “Easter eggs “ on the Frontiers... most reviewers miss it. I’ve even seen owner reviews who don’t seem to know the upper glove box exists.
i've noticed some pro4x have body color matched door handles and some like this one dont. i have a 2016 pro4x with the luxury package and mine are body colored.
does anyone have any real opinions on reliability? i wanna grab one of these and i prefer working on my own cars but the last nissan i had was an xterra and it was a nightmare
Anything Japanese is far better than anything that is in the Domestic Market vehicles because the Japanese people make vehicles far better then North America because they take far better care and take their own time to produce the Vehicle where here in North America we just slap everything together and then hope that everything will definitely work out for that Vehicle but normally it never does actually because North America doesn't really care
LOVE my 2018 black Midnight edition. For the money, this truck has zero competition

Got a 2019 pro4x premium package out the door in Co here for 26k with 9k miles on it. Best purchase ever. Tears up the back roads.
@@shanesig7696 I've invested hours looking at "every truck" and have decided on seeking a 2019 (in standard transmission). Would you still recommend?
I love my solid, no-nonsense 2017 Pro-4x. The engine and torque is solid. There is an upper glove compartment just above the one you opened.
Man it looks so good in black.
Great review... I'm surprised to see the oil pressure and voltmeter gauges have survived the accounting dept.
Chris Petersen thank you and I know!😂
I agree. 2019 was the last year for those two gauges. Both were eliminated for 2020.

They’re “dummy gauges”, lol.

Every time I see this car on the road, I this this car is 5 years old!
Braden Show! Agreed
I drive a 2004 Ford Ranger if I wanted to upgrade I'd go for one of these trucks small and simple.

If you don't need 4wd, the desert runner is the same package for $6k less.
Far better choice than the new Ranger
Shakerhood69 they are both pretty dated, however I can see that.

Off road the Ranger FX4 buries this truck.

Still looks great!
These are very well priced and for a v6 top level trim.
Great quick review. After watching other review the cup holders have removable inserts to fit larger cups or for cleaning.
i love the cup holders, i can fit a giant stanley thermos in it lol, and the inserts are nice cuz you can throw them in the dishwasher every now and then
Simple is better. Can’t wait for the new iteration.
Except no more manual transmission.
twoeightythreez
Yes,that’s too bad.Manuals seem to be going the way of the dinosaur with fewer of them out there as time goes on.
SIX SPEED MANUEL FOR ME!🦾

Jairo Mariscal yeah what a moron

My ram has a compartment above the glove box! I love it.
Fun drinking game; take a shot every time he says "Old School"
Awesome review!!!
Good review. I will subscribe
Beautiful vehicle
Hope they don't update it. Why fix what is not broken.

Watching him start this truck makes me cringe. Insert key, twist clockwise as hard as you can, as fast as you can. Just so wrong.
I would love this if they updated this old dinosaur.
Great video 👍
Jason Rock thank you!
I’m considering this truck, but I’d want the roof rack to be dealer installed on a Pro 4x manual. Is this a possibility?
does anyone have any real opinions on reliability? i wanna grab one of these and i prefer working on my own cars but the last nissan i had was an xterra and it was a nightmare
Around how much is the cost thi 2019 now?
How much do they cost for a package like this?
No tow package?
My 03 Frontier has the same remote 😂
I’m getting on but without the rack
Doesn't look "All new" to me. Same truck it's been for years...
