I bought 1000 rounds of this ammo when is was 6.99 last year… and another 1000 when it was 7.99 this year…. These rounds will stop any assailant just as good as any other hollow points…. 100% guaranteed…. UA-camrs always wanna over complicate things for views… you’re welcome for the view and the comment…. But for anybody who purchases this ammo, you will not be disappointed if you have to use it in a self-defense scenario…

I think you’re saying this because of your investment. I wouldn’t want to be hit by fmj, but I’m not going to pay $27 a box, the price at Dunhams, for fmj.

  • @jayjuggrnaut

I agree with your logic. Even cheap hollow points will most likely do a better job than FMJ/ball ammo, as long as it goes "BANG" when the trigger is pulled. I own American Gunner and Hornady HPs, but never purchased more than 10 boxes due to the price, even pre-pandemic.
I recently purchased 20+ boxes of the Norma MHP for 6.99 each at the Myrtle Beach PSA store. I'll take my chances!!

Sorry you have to deal with inconsistent ammo. I wonder if using a drill press would fix that? You shouldn't have to fix a manufacturer defect and see what Norma will do to correct. But if they do nothing, it might be an interesting video. A make your own hollow point.

I shot a total of 120 MHP rounds through CZs, Sig, Glock, and a Tanfoglio. One did not cycle in the Tanfoglio but the rest had no issues. Didn’t seem like any more recoil than an FMJ. Good grouping round. Good for training and stocking up on with its current price. Better than an FMJ for self defense but not a primary choice for me.

In my situation my PCC won’t run other defensive rounds so I was using FMJ until I found these so although they are inconsistent it’s better than FMJ for me which has 0% chance of expansion. If your are carrying a Glock or M&P or Sig handgun than STAY AWAY from these. Running a PCC that only runs FMJ? Than these are made just for you.

I am pretty much monogamous when it comes to my NATO factory ammo. First my rifle and pistol NATO ammo is PPU if possible. Second to that is Federal. I believe I have one box of Winchester 5.56 NATO somewhere because it was cheap at the time. Revolver, rimfire, and shotgun ammo usually is Federal but other brands also like Remington, Winchester, and Corbon. Other than that I shoot a lot of reloads.

I don't have any experience with this round either but have to say thats's about the sloppiest, most poorly made bullet I've ever seen. Probably why it's only $8 a box. My guess is that after current stock is sold out Norma won't make any more.Or they coud correct the problem and market it under a different name. I have couple brand names near that price, ammo inc 115 gr jhp and sinter fire 100 gr jhp

I did the same and now today they're 5.99. So I got 5 more boxes. I mean at this point it's cheaper to fire these than range ammo and at least these CAN expand. People walking around here like a 22 won't make them leak all their life juice let alone a 9mm

I never said anything about ccwing the ammo however for the price they're reasonable enough target ammo that lets you practice with hollow points for cheaper than normal. Regardless of any of that you can end somebody with a slingshot, do you think that a lower quality 9mm round is just going to bounce off of you?

That's one of the pointless arguments that gets echoed around the gun community more than anything because it's already obvious that having a cap and ball revolver is better than using your fists. The purpose of defense ammo is to maximize every advantage. For most conceal carriers they will only be carrying 1-2 mags so it is very important those mags are filled with more lethal ammo rather than take the chance of dumping budget range ammo. I gotta copy and paste this since it appears on every comment section about defense ammo.
In summary yes everyone already knows fmj is better than throwing fists at people. But it's clear hollow points are better than fmj so you can probably afford to buy 2 boxes of it without starving.

Summary is that it actually performed quite well but you do need a compact barrel length or longer. The expansion is .89 if you have the right velocity on the gun. It is 10.5 inches so it's the same as winchester silver tips and should only be used for frontal or back direct shots. Denim doesn't matter which is good since winchester ranger t (black talons) will fail to expand due to clogged denim pretty often.
It is a decent budget defense round but is in the average category. One significant improvement that can be made would be of norma changed the 4 petals design into 5 or 6 instead to improve organ grazing probabilities.
