Thanks mate! I've been trying my best experiencing the perfect metal sound for my snare and kick on AD and I found this video very helpful. Next, if you could help us out with getting the perfect sound for the toms. Love the sound of the mix on you AD kit here. Keep up the good work!
I am a bit late to the party. Very helpful video, thank you. I tend to use beats from the presets cuz the midi tracks I do myself never sound as natural as the ones from the groove library. Do you have any tips how to "humanize" and set velocity for the midi tracks which are not from library? Cheerz
You're welcome haha! As far as I know, Logic Pro does not have a "humanize" function to randomize perfectly aligned MIDI notes, but I know other DAWs have that function. After so many years, I just play in the beats loosely with a MIDI Keyboard to get the feel in velocity and the "off-grid", natural feel and I quantize to taste (you CAN tell Logic how much it should quanitze if it's off grid)
This is great stuff Soulhenge, I think this drum programme is the one for me. The metal AdPack is only 90 euro so that's great, but I don't know whether to get others.. - which pack or pack combination would you recommend?
I haven't really tried other AD packs but I guess the metal pack is the must for metal... Currently I mostly use Naughty Seal Audio Perfect Drums and not AD2 for the really heavy modern metal drum sounds!
Can you do an in depth video on EQ and Compression for the preset Logic Pro X Kits? I've been working on a demo and have used a couple of your videos for reference on LPX to get a way better sound, but I'm still struggling with getting a decent mix with the drums.
I never really got good sounds in a mix with AD, that's why I switched to Perfect Drums by Naughty Seal Audio. Sounds less organic but it's just better for metal.
Good video. Straight to the point(coming from a fellow Addictive Drums 2 user)..Well, it would have been nicer if you had gone through the OH, Room and Master stuff too :) Subbed anyways... love from India
can someone PLEASE be a lad and explain to me how to get addictive drums into logic... I just bought addictive drums and downloaded it so I can open the actually application for addictive drums but I have no idea how to load it into my plug in folder, where do I get the component file? there are no helpful threds online on how to help me.. I just want to use addictive drums in logic :( Love the video by the way your the reason I bought addictive drums 2, love your guitar videos too! you taught me how to get a good free metal guitar tone in logic, you are basically my go to for how to record djenty metal
Hi, it's been 6 years or so since I installed AD2, could you tell me what you get in the downloaded folder? Either you have an installer or you have a .component file that you drag into the Components folder in Library > Audio. After that is done you should find the plugin as an Audio Unit in Logic.
Soulhenge Gear Reviews hey thanks for responding man! For some reason I had to clear me cache and restart my computer... all good now! Could you do a review on what you think the best Joey Sturgis Tone amp Sim is? That would be awesome!
For demos I only use stereo out and I mix in AD2 itself. But for more detailed mixing I run multiout. Btw I'm using Perfect Drums by Naughty Seal Audio now anyway!
Really helped me get a better sound with the software, particularly the snare, I appreciate it a lot dude.
Oliver Parkinson I'm not professional but, if you know what fundamentals each instrument frequency quite easy to enhance the sound.
Great tutorial man! This video has changed the way I now sample my drums. Simplicity at it's finest. Awesome man! Keep up the great work.
it sounds better than any EZX for metal
and i don't know why
Bro your snare and kick sounds wayyyyy better than the demos they have out! Good job on tweeking them!

Amazing, thanks so much 👍
You should try multi out for proper control over the different drum parts.
Nice job dude. Clear voice and great flow.
Great tutorial but I like to mix my drums in pro tools using pro tools stock and waves plugins.
Great video as always, gonna look into AD more

Thanx for that tutorial bro!!!
Nice. I'm a big Addictive Drums guy myself, agree on getting uniqueness from it vs SD. I love and use both, but AD is usually my go-to.
adfsdude, i was about to give up on addictive drums 2, you made my damn, you deserve an award, would be great to see what you did with the toms
nice and helpful video... Thanks Soulhenge ✌
addictive drums for life! :)

Hey bro who is the band in the background? they sound great!!!
Are you still using ad2? if not which drum software are you primarily using these days?
Been Microphone No, I have been using Naughty Seal Audio Perfect Drums for thr last 2 years!
Now I want addictive drums :)
Question: Pod HD pro X or Pod X3 pro?
Good question in fact! I need to borrow my mate's X3 again and answer that question!
Thanks man, love your tone and would seriously value your opinion on the two units, as I have been considering buying one of them for a while!
Yo dude, you just saved my mix. I completely eq'd the snare and bass wrong, hahaha.

Do you run the drums through bus/multi-out? Or does AD2 allow you to do everything on the piano roll and then mix it via the AU?
For demos I only use stereo out and I mix in AD2 itself. But for more detailed mixing I run multiout.

Soulhenge Gear Reviews ahh man I bought AD2 based on this video!
@2:19 thought he was gunna say at dees nuts
next, guitar and bass tutorial please
What the version of AD2 do you using in this video?
Do you know any good free drum VSTs or trials? The perfect drums player demo gets you already decent results but it doesnt have a china unfortunately
Not really been looking into that yet, but I'll see if I can find a cheap or even free alternative to AD and squeeze the best out of it!
MT Powerdrumkit 2. Free full version available for download.
DUDE! What song is that playing? Where can I find it?
It's called Contrivance and you can find it on my No Ostriches bandcamp page :) It's the last song of my EP.
"addictive" drums ;)
