Hi there Thanks for this! At 9:03 The easier way to get a fader per drum is to CLICK AND HOLD the topmost empty checkbox and then move the mouse arrow downwards passing over the other checkboxes until all pieces are activated with their own fader
You can select the (Pre-Fader + Master) and use the "Master" track as a Parallel Compression Bus just by adding an aggressive compressor, I use the FG-Grey by Slate Digital.
In the Outputs view whether in the console or inside the plugin you can actually click & hold then drag down to quickly assign multiple outputs to channels.
Once again, thanks so much for this video. You are making the Studio One learning curve so much easier for a total newb. I've had Addictive Drums 2 for a long time but never really got to learn much about it - until now!!!
Thanks so much, Mike! The whole interface makes so much more sense now, and being able to simply bypass all the internal stuff and start with un-effected sounds puts me out into my own DAW on more familiar territory. All the processing in AD2 was making my drums sound too "cooked." Your videos are always outstanding! ❤
This is FANTASTIC! I was wanting to learn how to do this exact thing and you made it so easy even this dummy can do it! Absolutely awesome! I'm going to make my way through your tutorials! Your teaching style is perfect for me - not too fast, not to slow. As soon as I start to think - "Okay - I got it...." you move on. PERFECT mate!
In my opinion, you should by default use Post Fader or Post Fader + Master rather than Pre Fader. This is the only way to take advantage of AD2 presets, as AD2 channel volumes are part of AD2 presets. If you select Pre Fader, you won't hear the same sound as was intended, because each AD2 track will be output at unity gain.
One of the most handy things is to learn how to customise your mapping. What I talk about is what type of hit you want to have on your hihat, for example. I like having normal hihat hits as well as more aggressive as an alternative and you choose those and can save them as custom mapping presets, but the problem is that you have to change them quite deep in the addictive drums 2 settings and you have to go there every time you want to change to a different mapping preset. What solves that is having studio one doing the presets for you, as a sort of master preset. Just save and use those presets on the top of the plugin window, above the plugin itself. I use that all the time it. I also use that when customising presets of instruments + fx chain if I for example like a B3 organ VST but want to disconnect its internal leslie speaker because I like the stock studio one Rotor better for stereo width. The fx chains can be massive, and I even use a trick splitting the fx chain to go to an amp sim and a leslie and balance them. I build amps with mixing amp heads and sending it through arturia preamps and spring reverbs before hitting the cabinets and so on. It's super effective and quick to find your unique instruments there in those kinds of master presets. I've really tested the limits of them and I can tell you that they are so powerful that you can change anything inside any of the plugin among the instrument + fx chain and save it or update an existing one and studio one will remember it. You don't have to store the presets in the plugins them selves. There all these "*" (like default* as in it's a customised default preset that hasn't been saved yet) in my plugins when I open up these master presets. I like my computer but it's fairly modest laptop and it can actually change massive fx chains in seconds. I don't know how. There might be a build up of hidden but active plugins here and there if you're not to careful I'd guess, but I actually think it's replaces plugins instead of hiding existing ones and just adding new, when I do that because it has not yet been giving me headaches.
Separate out Post fader is good if you're already happy with the fader settings in AD2. If you set Pre fader you get the snare etc before the AD2 fader so in SO you'd have to set levels again.
Hi, you know what? I really appreciate your tuto at each time. Why? As I am French man and my English is so so. With your very clear and slowly explanation I can understand 95 % of your tuto. Excellent job, keep on that way. Just for info, I have been using S1 since the 1st. But now still have S1 4 pro. I plan to update to the 6th in the close future.. Thanks 👌👍
There is any way to show each track in the timeline view and not only on the mixer? just the way I see the guitar wave track and the midi pattern on the drum bu for each track?
If you haven't learned finger drumming yet, I suggest not using pads. Just staying on the keys might be better. I definitely think so. Certainly if you know your way around a key board. Watch doctor mix' 2 part tutorial on finger drumming. It's great.
Very good video thanks. At 2:43 you mention you like the colours but I wondered how to get those colours to automatically show in the mixer channels and also on the Atom Controller Pads. Is this at all possible?
I use 'Separate Out Post Fader' in Cakewalk, because I find the levels are too high and they clip. Doing it this way means that I can turn all the levels down in one take by adjusting them in the AD Drums interface, rather than hopping through each channel, and adjusting the 'Gain' knob on the CW Console. Studio One may well have already accounted for the levels, so this may not be necessary.
Side note: for anyone using CW,: If you're happy with the Drums, you can record each track as Audio by doing the following: Record Enable each Drum Track. (Make sure that the AD Drums MIDI Channel is not Record Enabled) Press 'Record' Done. The advantage of doing this, is that you can then delete the MIDI data on the AD Drums channel, to free up your PC's resources. Another thing that I do, is to turn the sends down on each AD Drums Channel (On the AD Interface) and set the Crash send to 'Overheads', and the Ride to 'Room'. To do this, click on the 'E' symbol in the corner of the Kit Piece image, and you will see it on the Pop Up. The Overheads and Room channels in CW are now separate Crash and Ride Channels, with no other Kit Pieces going into them. Now any effects can be determined by the user in CW itself.
When you use Addictive drums with all of the instruments on separate tracks, a little of the the information from each hit is on each track( especially on the overheads, rooms, and bus tracks), and the sum of all of those hits make the sound for that hit, right? If you want to loosely quantize a apart of your performance, how would you do that an make sure that a certain corresponding hit in each of the other tracks lined up correctly with the main track that you adjusted? Example: I quantize some kick notes on the kick track, how would I make sure the overheads, room and bus corresponding hits are line up to where it doesn’t mess the sound up?
Does anyone know how to side chain with AD2 in studio one 5? The studio one compressor can’t read the signal from any of my separate outs. It works on any other virtual drum plugin but not AD2
Hi so one questions, cymbals, crashes and rides do they have a fader or separe channel? I see that is not there I would like to add a different effect for them!
In my Addictive drums 2 when i press the yellow down little arrow ,i have only 3 options: --->master ,----->serarate out , ----->separate out +master .Why you have 5 options in your ad. dr. 2?
I was pleased to see this. Many people write off Addictive Drums because they've been around so long, but I think AD is one of the best drum VSTs.

haven't come across to anything more efficient than this video ever. Many thanks!
Thank you :)

Very helpful--wish I had this video a year or two ago lol 😁
Thank you. I was struggling to get the correct drum map installed and now I have it !
The Best tutorial!

I saw another tutorial when they use post fader.
Thanks for the pro tip and useful insight

Great overview Mike, appreciate how easy you made this. I am going to try the software as a result of your overview. 🙂🙂🙂
I do love Addictive drums but I do wish they had an option for switching to audience perspective. Brilliant video 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks Gareth :)

Thank you so much. Great video , very helpful. 🙏
Great TUT. Thanks very much.
Excellent video! Many thanks
9:00 - just press that left mouse button on first square and drag it top-down
Thanks for video ;:-|)

Needs to convert from midi to audio, search Pete Woj Addictive drum 2
Outstanding! Thanks ...
Thanks Joe 😀
That was a great help thank you
Can you give advice on the best MIDI keyboard with drum pads for Studio One. Thanks…enjoy your work.
If you haven't learned finger drumming yet, I suggest not using pads. Just staying on the keys might be better. I definitely think so. Certainly if you know your way around a key board. Watch doctor mix' 2 part tutorial on finger drumming. It's great.

I was excited for the midi map download but it’s mostly labeled incorrectly for some reason on my computer

Thanks.. Maybe the but pre post to reduse level befor studio one insert effect.. Regardes 🌹
Yes that’s true, thanks.
Thank you.
Can this be saved as/in a template in S1 for a starting point for future projects?
Thank you brother
My pleasure man!

Hello! How can I use the rim shots effect on Addictive drums 2?

For a faster way to send all de tracks to seperate outputs: ua-cam.com/video/2eqy9tmmtyw/v-deo.html. (Use alt + click or cmd + click)
Was this just an overview lol
