GommeBlog.it: Car & Performance - I liked the video, but I was unsure which urban helmet scored best because there were only pictures without any description at the end of the video. I was particularly interested in the urban test. Thanks
Hello. I would like to use a clip of the helmets being tested to publish in an online education course for middle school science. Would I be able to get your permission for that? Thanks!
Great work! Would love to see how equestrian riding helmets rate across the various disciplines specifically the ones that carry higher risk of injuries (racing, hunter/jumper, barrel racing)
What about sudden head torque and neck injuries? These injuries are typically seen only when wearing a helmet Second; the sudden stopping of a rider through impack reveils the trauma to the brain was due to the brain impacting with the inside of the skull. A helmet is not going to decrease the speed of the head of a rider a fraction of a ft./ sec.
Of course a helmet is going to decrease the negative acceleration on impact. The skin on the skull is very thin, the head comes to almost immediate stop on a hard surface without a helmet. A helmet is going to increase the stopping distance many fold.
@@trollwitchdoctor why would your head stop? It might bounce but if it's attached to your body it's going along for the ride. You will stop abraision but not impact injury. So a helmet would help prevent skull fractures but not brain damage. However a helmet can and does cause serious neck injuries from torque; as the helmet's design contributes to sudden rotation instead of sliding. Now; not all helmets not all cases. As an adult I choose not to wear one on a bicycle however; I do wear a helmet on my motorcycle all the time.
@@TheBelldiver Why would a head stop when it hits a pavement? If yours doesn't, you don't need a helmet... The physics of a glancing blow are basically the same as any other. During an impact there is an impulse of force, that causes an acceleration. Too much acceleration, and the brain hits the skull. The duration of the contact affects the distribution of the impulse. Any cushion is going to greatly decrease the acceleration, and as a result, brain damage. In my country, you have to wear a helmet by law. I would anyway, whether cycling, using an electric scooter, or any other activity where my nugget might receive heavy blows.
My hockey helmet saved my pretty face ,and permanent scalping that could have happened! I was riding my ultra high power footscooter when the steering exploded!
What's the chances you land on top of your head when falling off a bike. Helmets like car seat belts should state effectiveness. The body's falling axis are levered and at multiple angles. Rocks are not big round objects. The chance of a side head impact must be more likely that stricking the top out your head. Minor side impacts can be fatal
Hmm.. so your head's intact, but your faced all messed up due to lack of protection, so what's the point? When you fall off the bike, your face will most likely hit the ground more than the parts of your head covered by these helmets.
Given a car cant withstand the impact of another car you'll never convince me wearing a helmet can save my life if hit by a car. A rock, tree, another cyclist sure, but never a car.
Safety note - Hello @GommeBlog and @iihs-hldi, congratulations for your video. I would like to make an important safety remark #hldi: An emergency stop button used to activate a relatively dangerous fall device if you are underneath does not seem to me to be the best option. A black or green button would seem more suitable to me. For anyone, at least in Europe, the red button allows you to turn off a device in an emergency. Kind message 😉 Have a nice day.

What about helmets for car drivers and pedestrians!
Video could longer with more explanations after each test. I came to see how the bontrager helmet wave tech worked.
whta are the results and conclussions? is there a link to read it?

I would like to know what the 4 and 3-star helmets are.
hi, somebody knows how much time takes this kind of test?

Bostitch Stanley auto soler
Buddy, between the risk of a sprained neck or traumatic brain injury, I’ll take the helmet and risk a neck injury each time
Could you test the Thousand Helmet urban
My hockey helmet saved my pretty face ,and permanent scalping that could have happened! I was riding my ultra high power footscooter when the steering exploded!
I found it interesting, because I was going to buy a bike helmet by the price. Like "most expensive = more safety". Thanks guys
3:45 green helmet is clearly damaged before the “test”. Either this is a fake or a very sloppy recreation

Aren’t helmets designed to break so the impact doesn’t directly translate to your skull?
still no test without mips to compare
On the cyclists helmets must throw a load of 22.5 kilograms from a height of 180 centimeters. That's how bicycle forks are checked.
Can someone tag Jeruz Gab in this channel haha

At least the brain part was secured and don't get concussion which is bad for the most 👌🌴😁
The head fell off. A helmet won't help that injury.
I will never use a bike type helmet! No protection for the face !

Okay so then wear a helmet so that your head is protected from a tree or a rock. They’re out there on the trails people ride on
Htoler
Cycle helmet test ratings are pointless.
