Hell yeah I have the same 229/235 111+2 in my aluminum 5.3. It’s the perfect size for the smaller 325ci. Not too big not too small. I spin it to 6700 every day and it loves it.
My friend Calvin used to own this car. It was out of Kentucky. It was primed black when he got it and he had it painted the way it is now. It also had a mild 355 and grand nat rear end.
Same gear, same 2800 converter as my 84 monte. My Draggy recorded 2.06 sixty, 8.49 1/8 and 13.30 e.t at 98mph, also shows I lifted off throttle at about 1250ft so maybe 13.2. not bad for stock vortec heads an little lunati barebones flat tappet at .465 intake lift.
Car looks good. I have a 1987 monte carlo. G body life wasn't my first choice in cars but I've found it'd probs the best community to be in. Car sounds great looks like a blast to cruise around 😀

What you want to do with the car as far as upgrades. Definitely needs a converter. Definitely needs rear suspension work to get it to hook. Maybe some shock relocation mounts and some double adjustables. Maybe some 90 10's on the front. This is a bad a** car and It's got a lot of potential.

Holly duel plane and quick fuel 750 it's a nitrous truck but on motor on the street with dragy I run 7.98 at 90 mph and 12.45 in qtr with a crappy 1.9 60ft and I spun s alittle 2nd run was 7.95 and 12.25 still spun my truck is 3000 pounds with a full tank a 91 s10 and 3200 with me in it also 150 pounds in the bed
Currently building 78 Malibu built th350 4.8ls, ported milled heads, big nitrous cam, victor jr intake, fitech 550, 4.10 rear. 4-1 headers, Have it almost ready to make a hit.
That 4.8 turns quick rpms. Being flat top piston motor they sound better out the exhaust then the 5.3 and 6.0 dish piston motors. Got one in my daily driver GMC.
Ditch that single plane on that 4.8. Trust me. I went to a dual plane on my little 4.8 s10 and man what a difference. The dual plane is much better for the small motor

I knew when you said mid 7s you’d be a little bit disappointed…dragy is like a dyno, those numbers usually hurt your feelings! Lol I was guessing 8.50s to 8.20s at best on a stock bottom 5.3 N/A on the street with a full weight car. It’ll go low 8s with good prep or at the track all day though and that’s plenty respectable👌🏼 I’ll say 1.7 60’s once it completely hooks. Shocks are the best thing I’ve ever done with my suspension btw! (hint hint) I run mid 7.40s in a 4300lb truck with a big block N/A at the track but haven’t been under 8.0s on the street yet on drag radials with my dragy. Gonna have to switch to bias slicks for that! Love the car bro and I’ll be watching your progress🤘🏼

$500 junkyard 5.3 $900 tick performance cam and springs set $500 MSD ignition box with harness $400 edlebrock dual plane intake $300 Speed engineering headers $700 Holley brawler 750 carb $170 holley high pressure fuel pump $100 truion upgrade for rockers $300-500 ICT brackets ,motor mounts, valley plate, and flex plate spacer This is just a basic rundown there was a lot of other small things here and there we needed to make it work I’d say it was around $4000-4500 for everything
@@mainsqueezemalibu with the price of the carb , manifold and msd box how come you went carby man? You a wizard with carbys and meant you didn't need to pay a tuner or learn to tune? Easier to use a timing retarded and spray it then having to try tune for on and off nitrous with a computer? For that sort of money and the fact you had to change fuel pumps anyway wondering why you didn't just buy a standalone harness.

100%…I started with 1 chambers running 7.47 and switched to 2 chambers cuz it was too damn loud to even cruise around in, dropped to 7.60s immediately. Switched to Hooker VR304s and gained my power right back PLUS the truck is comfortable cruising/talking in now! Daily driven 🤷🏻♂️ If you’re OK with loud af a 1 chamber is fine but anything more than that robs power and I’ll never run another chambered muffler.
It had a tick performance stage 2 cam and springs, speed engineering headers, rpm edlebrock intake and a Holley brawler 750 carb. Bottom end and heads were stock lol
Might be the auto killing your power, I have a t56 magnum to a gen 3 lm7 5.3, Texas speed cam kit, ls1 manifold, did 12.3 at 110 on the street with a 1.8 60ft

I love the car. but you cant say stock heads "just has springs" the springs help tremendously and allow you to rev the beans out of it where a stock 5.3 doesnt do that... tisk tisk. Keep em spinnin bro. ive always wanted this generation malibu to throw a smallblock in with a turbin on her. get my Alahoo Akabara on son !

Yup just swapped the grand nat rear end for a ford 9in. Dropping a bored and stroked 6.0 on nitrous in it here in the next couple weeks

Speed engineering headers an goes to a flow master exhaust y dual and dumps right over the axles. You like it? I kinda wish it was a little louder lol
