I had a very similar end table I bought in the early 80s. Beautiful furniture but the beveled glass insert was a pain to take out and clean. Mersman was the company that made my tables.
I wasn’t expecting such a vast improvement. But I can’t help wondering what the underside of the wicker looked like. There was a lot of liquid involved. Does it drizzle through and pool on the underside?
This wicker was glued to a plywood backer, there really wasn’t an underside. If there’s a piece of like on a chair where both sides are visible I will do both sides but on something like this I don’t worry about it.
Never tried it. I’ve heard of people using vinegar for staining but the smell is pretty prone to sticking around so I never tried it. I’ve never even seen industrial vinegar where I live.
Love the bamboo influence on the legs and brass corners........kind of a Chinese chippendale style. Nice work.
Thank you! Me too, I try to pick up any of the pieces I see like this, particularly the rattan night stands!
That looks new!! Great job!
Thank you!!
Beautiful piece…..well done 👏👏👏
Thank you!
It turned out really nice!
Thank you!!

Mersman made a lot of great furniture! I’ve got a video of me refinishing a mersman table on my channel somewhere. I actually made a new top for it
Looks great!
Thank you!
Nice work, Milo!
Thanks a lot!
Nice job!
Thanks!
The result is as wonderful as always ❤. Could you please advise which varnish product have you applied here?
Thank you! It’s a pre catalyzed lacquer by Gemini coatings. Search Gemini 179-1 1G

Beautiful. So glad you didn’t paint it.
would something like 40 Vol vinegar stripe off the old finish?

@@milosrestoration1337 Amazon has it. And I've used isopropyl alcohol & normal vinegar 50/50 mix to clean my kitchen, & I know it will eat paint.
