Hi Ron! Always nice to see your comment. I'm glad that you like my video and my ceilling design idea. The house that I brought recently is pretty old and It needed alot of work and time. It took me over 7 months of working every single day without brake to finish with all necessary renovation to make it look like fresh/new on both floors. It was pretty tough work but I made it alive. That's why it has so long brake between videos :)
Wow, this is very cool indeed! A friend of mine recently bought a projector and I was wondering how it would look with the correct type of screen and it is absolutely lovely. At certain scenes it felt as if I was looking at the view through a window. Thanks very much and enjoy!

I've scoured the Internet to find solutions, but so far, I've not found anything useful. Thanks! Tony
You welcome! Sense the screen is hanging down with its own weight you can add more weight on the lower metal bar/rail to help it stretch more. Also warm air(not super hot) from hairdryer can help as well. Those are mine tricks when I don't use the screen for a longer period of time. Cheers! 😉

Hi. Thanks. Great video. Subscribed. I noticed that you do not unroll the black border of the screen. Do you think it affects image quality greatly if not unrolled ? I would have to do the same as my ceilings are not high enough if I want a 120 " projection so I would have to compromise on the black border. Contrary to the instruction manual ( which is very poorly written ) the motor does not automatically roll back to adjust the tension of the fabric. Did yours roll back ? Thanks
Thank you so much my friend! Let me tell you that it was not easy with renovating as the house is quite old and it was in bad shape but sense I did all the work by myself (including that tile floor that you see in the video) I'm very happy how it turns out in the end. Wish you a great day.

The price of the drop down and floor rising screen seems to be the same. If both are possible, which one would you recommend? Does the drop down one feels more solid since it's assisted by gravity?
Well for my setup drop down screen is a better choice as I don't need to make or buy custom TV stand to fit entire screen housing. Both rise up and drop down screen have their use depend of the room and application. For example rise up screen you can use even without any floor behind or ceiling. BTW, both screens are stretching the screen fabric equally good so you don't need to worry about that.

Great video, we have a similar basement, with lower ceilings, 8' high. This video is super helpful to see how this can be done. I have a 5 year old, and the ceiling option seems much better than the floor rising. Did you find the height adjustment to be challenging, or does the screen motor maintain its saved position well? Hi Mate! I got what you ment. I have two small kids as well. The boy is soon 3.5 years and the girl is soon 1.5 years old. The drop down screen works very well for the kids that have easy access the screen or the screen controls. Luckily mine don't as the room is in the basement and there is safety fence upstairs. Now about the screen controls. There are two tools one yellow(plastic) that controls when the screen will stop and one black(hard rubber) that controls when the screen will stop. You place the tools in the potentiometer/screw and you turn clockwise or counterclockwise. That's it. You need a few minutes to adjust the desired level and it's done. Nice screen and video, but I'd have thought a fixed screen of the same material would be a better bet in this situation? Though driving a screen up and down is kinda cool.
I already have the 100" fixed frame screen in the living room upstairs. I showed it in my last video. Now I went with this roll down screen mostly because of my kids as I already have problem keeping their fingers and toys away from the screen. Now I just roll it up and it's safe :)
No, it doesn't have those two metal arm behind. Drop down screen dont need it and the screen housing is much lighter and more compact/slimer then rise up screen. Don't know exactly how much they weight both, but rise up version of this screen is much more heavier.
Another great video, thank you! Could I ask you a question? I have just purchased the same drop-down screen, but they don't state what size drill bit to use, for the anchoring screws for the mounting bracket? What size drill bit did you use? Thank you so much!
Glad you like it my friend. Well not really. You see If you flip the screen then the projector needs to be flipped as well which will pretty much kill the ability of ALR screen fabric to block the light from the ceiling. The screen would then block the light that comes from the floor which is not really useful.
Good video, i have xyscreen alr pet crystal with xiaomi mija 4k 1s. I have sparkling effect. did you have this effect on your xyscreen? And why did you go to vividstorm ? Thanks to you
Thanks, sparkling effect? That's strange. Are you sure you have the right type of screen? That with horisontal micro lines pattern? That shift appearance from light gray to black color when you look it from down till up. I never had anything like that on my screens both on XY-screen or on Vividstorm screen. Why did I go without Vividstorm screen? No particular reason I liked the motorized type of the screen for the change.
great video. thanks. is it possible to use this drop down ALR screen with a ceiling mounted epson ls500 short throw projector? or does the projector have to be below the screen for the alr to work? thanks in advance
Glad you like it! The projector needs to be on the ground as the light that hits the screen from the ceiling direction gets blocked. P.S. check this projector cabinet it's very cool - ua-cam.com/video/mZPXMH2IOMg/v-deo.html

Hey quick question, maybe a lot of people asked you this question many times over. I'm looking to get one of these short throw projector plus screen. What would you recommend for me when usage will also be a daily projector like watching regular TV?

Hey! Have you had any issues with the screen? I received an email not to purchase the ceiling mounted version as many get returned due to technical issues. Thank you
I did not had any issues with mine but I did sold it last year and now I have the similar upgraded setup. Check out my latest cabinet projector video. ua-cam.com/video/mZPXMH2IOMg/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video mate, my query is I want to put a samsung frame tv on my wall for normal TV then have this screen come down over the top to watch movies. Can that work?
Glad you like my video mate! Sure you can, you would need to install some spacers between wall and brackets and place longer screws but for sure it can be done. Or you can just hang the screens directly from the ceiling that would be much more easier. With the screen in the box follows ceiling brackets as well so you only need to get some rope or thin chain to finish setup. Easy :)
Hi, little question about this drop down Screen, if you put the subtitle on a movie did you see little wave effect on the text or it is perfectly displayed ? Thanks ;)
@@NexiTech thanks for the reply. Im currently using a 4K Xiaomi. You may remember the video I shared with you about a year ago that shows my black Xiaom 4k UST projector making a VERY loud and obnoxious coil whine. Unfortunately Im still using that projector and suffering each and every time. I was hoping you will make a video dedicated to showing how noisy all your UST projectors make in a silent room without any background noise so we can all actually hear what they sound like. I dont mind the projector's fan noise at all as that is normal, but the high pitch coil whine has completely ruined my experience and Ik sure other people would appreciate actually hearing it as well.

What's the life expectancy of these types of projectors...❓...I'd hate to buy one, then 5 years later there's a big problem...And what's the warranty like ?
Thanks mate! I'm glad you like it.Well I'm not 100% sure that I will, as it's pretty much the same projector like the Milja 4K that I reviewed 2019 only with the slightly higher brightness output and with no 3D support.
@@NexiTech hmm it has 3D dlp support and is quite better : 1608lumens in cinema mode and 3500:1 contrast. Also less noisy. Old version: 1180lumens and 2500:1 Note: 1S has no international version like the older one where they took the 3d off. Not mix things 😁
Sure my friend! The cabinet is 31cm high and it's 18cm away from the wall. Distance from the wall and back of the projector is 29cm and the screen fabric is 4cm away from the wall. Distance between front side of the projector and the wall is 65cm. My screen size is 120 inch.
Nexi, you are so kind answer my questions. about the Vividstorm screen UST 120" drop ceiling the black border in the top reading the specs show 35cm high , could that size be reduced and what is the intention of the top black border, if the projector laser light coming from the bottom. Thanks again Merry Christmas and happy new year
Hi again man! Sorry for late answer I never receive notification for any reply comments and I need to go and search every reply manually... Yes that's about right, the black border can be completely reduced/invisible as you can stop the screen where ever you want and adjust it to stop exactly there. Well if there is no black border then projector would needed to be placed much higher in the air or the screen would need to be installed lower from ceiling, where like this with long black border you can use this screen with various TV stands sizes and still adjust the screen to match it. The black border is very useful actually. Thanks man! Happy new year to you as well, wish you all the best :)
This screen fabric only works with ultra short throw laser projectors. But you can use the same screen type from the same company but with regular ALR fabric for regular projectors. It's the grey color as well only without micro lines pattern.
Here you go my friend! 120'' Regular throw ALR projector screen bit.ly/3q5lZ9l Edit: Sorry for waiting UA-cam never notified me for any replay comments, I need to search them manually.
Aha, I replaced the entire factory/stock black cable with the white longer cable, and then I use rubber cable cover/holder from the screen to the fire place and down to floor. You can see it if you pause the video in the certain moments.
This is drop down ALR screen and it will block the light from the ceiling and pass the light from the floor. That's how it works. You can't use it differently it will not work.
I don't think so. If you flip the screen then the projector needs to be flipped as well which will pretty much kill the ability of ALR screen fabric to block the light from above.
@@NexiTech oh okay. Yah I am trying to figure out a solution to better cover the screens base and hide my vava 4k projector. But can’t find any entertainment stand that fits the dimensions.
@@amroaj34 I just bought the L brackets from Amazon for $70. I will mount my floor rising screen onto the wall and place the vava onto a custom floating shelf.
No. The blacks would look great but the whites would be too dull. In fact, the overall picture would be too dim. As well, ALR screens best shine (pun intended) when used in a lighted room and that's a no-go with a black painted wall.
I use good old Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers. You can see them in some of my latest videos. Not sure if you can found them any more. Sometimes I also use Mackie SRM 450 from music that you can see in the corners.

Unfortunately the prices has gone up so much sense I got my screen. World economy don't do so well lately. Maybe this is the better choice now: ua-cam.com/video/o43bKchQS04/v-deo.html
@@NexiTechaha :( i saw that you have projector for 150", why do not use it in full size? In previous house i remember the same, u were using 120". 150" screen would be worse in picture quality? Or just no place for 150?
You have a good eye my friend but unfortunately I have no space or need for the 150 inch screen. I can barely use 115 inch screen becuse of very limited choice of TV bank/stand, lower ceiling in my basement and watching distance is more then good for 120 inch.
It's basically extra living room in a basement. Total size of room is around 36 square meters but the wall where projector is placed is 4m long and distance to the sofa(wall) is 4.2m.

Another great video, thank you! Could I ask you a question? I have just purchased the same drop-down screen, but they don't state what size drill bit to use, for the anchoring screws for the mounting bracket? What size drill bit did you use? Thank you so much!
Where did you put the longer power cord for the Vividstorm ALR dropdown? I cant find the link from description.
Just regular 3meter long white power cord from local hardware store which I installed in corner and cover with white cable housing.
Hi, thanx for your review. I own a Optoma short trow 4k. Do you think this screen coud work fine in case of projector ceiling mount? Thanks.
Glad you like it my friend.
Well not really. You see If you flip the screen then the projector needs to be flipped as well which will pretty much kill the ability of ALR screen fabric to block the light from the ceiling. The screen would then block the light that comes from the floor which is not really useful.
Ultra short throw only
Good video, i have xyscreen alr pet crystal with xiaomi mija 4k 1s.
No particular reason I liked the motorized type of the screen for the change.
can this screen be placed in front of a window when it is opened... will light bleed through behind the screen from a window behind the screen?
Why not keep the camera in front to show the screen quality instead of side angle view?
Can you show us the adjustment holes and which is which?
great video. thanks. is it possible to use this drop down ALR screen with a ceiling mounted epson ls500 short throw projector? or does the projector have to be below the screen for the alr to work? thanks in advance
Glad you like it! The projector needs to be on the ground as the light that hits the screen from the ceiling direction gets blocked. P.S. check this projector cabinet it's very cool -
ua-cam.com/video/mZPXMH2IOMg/v-deo.html
Can you use a normal projector and just project it onto the screen rather than having that specific projector?
Not on this screen type
Hello and thank you for the review.
Do you know if is possible to use this screen with the projector in the roof? Or do the fabric only work one way?
Hi friend! Check this video :)

@@NexiTech Thanks, i looked more carefully and think that yes, i can use it from the roof aswell :D
I so excited
Could you share what cabinet you're using here ? I have the same problem of low ceiling height and I was looking for something similar. Thanks
Sure! That is a custom stands from IKEA and it was a cheapest and only option that I could find at the moment, as my ceiling is a bit lower there in basement. These items you can mix on their website and make them as you pleased. They called ''Nordli'' here in Sweden. Here is the link: www.ikea.com/se/sv/planner/nordli-planner/#custom
Hey quick question, maybe a lot of people asked you this question many times over. I'm looking to get one of these short throw projector plus screen. What would you recommend for me when usage will also be a daily projector like watching regular TV?
I think best choice in therms of money-value-performance would be Xaomi 1S 4k projector in combination with this screen from this video link: ua-cam.com/video/o43bKchQS04/v-deo.html
@@NexiTech money is not an issue so if you can can you give me two options first & second choice.

Can you please send me the link to this drop down motorized screen so that I can buy this same one it looks good for my XGIMI laser projector short throw
Is there a possibility to mount this projector screen and ust vava projector on the ceiling so i can cover tv attached to the wall?
How is the picture quality on a white wall with the lights off ?
Brother is it possible to use the drop down screen also as floor rising screen
No its not brother. Completely different type of housing, mechanism and position of fabric.
good video, thanks
Screen and projector buy separate ?? Or them come together ? Thanks
I order them separately. Check my other videos.
@@NexiTech thanks 👍👏👏
Easy :)
Does it come with its own projector or just the screen?
Please I'd like to know before I place an order?
This is review video is for the screen, the projector is not included.
Hi, little question about this drop down Screen, if you put the subtitle on a movie did you see little wave effect on the text or it is perfectly displayed ? Thanks ;)
Hi, I never noticed anything like that in subtitles. To me subtitle text looks perfectly normal as well the picture. Cristal clear and sharp.
@@NexiTech Thanks for your answer
Ive got the 120" floor rising screen, can it be mounted upside down, on the wall/ceiling to turn it into a drop down?
If is the ALR screen for UST laser projector with horizontal micro lines then no. The screen will only work in one direction.
Thanks for the info
And thank you for watching and for your comment :)
Every vivid storm screen I’ve seen is missing the black boarders to frame the image.
Can it work with same setup but i want to mount the projector on the ceiling as well ?
Nope. That would defeat the purpose.
hows the comparison in a pitch dark room compared against a white wall?
Very similar. There is some slight difference in contrast but it's not that noticeable as this projector has a very good black levels.
Im sorry my friend but I don't remember it. I have answered a tons of comments on my videos and it's impossible for me to remember them all. If you shared any link here in coments section It get blocked automatically as I had so many link scams in the past and I had to activate that link filter. BTW i did make a short video and share it with few guys in comments that had compain about coil whine nose. I don't know if you seen it. My Xiaomi 4K Projector don't have problem with high pitch sound or coil whine. Here is the video that I took at night in dead quiet room. @@NexiTech Thanks Nexi. Unfortunately, mine sounds nothing like that.. Yours sounds completely normal... I wish mine was as quiet.
Im considering purchasing a new projector between the new Optoma P2 vs the new 2020 VAVA. What is your opinion on them? Thanks again
Greetings friend! Im an inspired to buy this exact setup. Quick question, would this exact setup work with the Vava 4K UST (black) wall mounted as well? If so, would the Vividstorm screen have to be modified for light blocking?
What is the material on the back of the screen? I am looking for a screen I can mount in front of an open window.
That's not gonna work my friend. Material is thin and sensitive to wind and pressure. The image would wave alot.
How did you hide your cable? Is it rated for in-wall? Thank you!
I replaced cable with longer white one and I place it in the cable in the cable housing in the corner.
hello I would like to buy a short laser projector I was wondering which sheet should I choose between a 100 or 120 inch one? taking into account that the distance between the sofa and the screen is 3.20 meters. thank you

Thanks for sharing. What kind of a speaker on both side ?
Those are Mackie SRM 450 V2 that I use mostly for music for more then 10 years. For movies I have my good old Logitech Z5500.
where did you get the white stand on which projector is placed? did you replace the screen's black cable with a white cable?

What's the life expectancy of these types of projectors...❓...I'd hate to buy one, then 5 years later there's a big problem...And what's the warranty like ?
They have around 20.000-25.000 hours laser source life span. Now you do the calculations for your application :)
nice review !! thank you.
Will you be testing the "Xiaomi Mijia 1S 4K" UST projector ?
Thanks mate! I'm glad you like it.Well I'm not 100% sure that I will, as it's pretty much the same projector like the Milja 4K that I reviewed 2019 only with the slightly higher brightness output and with no 3D support.
@@NexiTech hmm it has 3D dlp support and is quite better : 1608lumens in cinema mode and 3500:1 contrast. Also less noisy.
Old version: 1180lumens and 2500:1
Note: 1S has no international version like the older one where they took the 3d off.
Not mix things 😁
Nexi, Could you tel me how high is the cabinet where the projector is on and what is the distance from the wall to the cabinet
Sure my friend! The cabinet is 31cm high and it's 18cm away from the wall. Distance from the wall and back of the projector is 29cm and the screen fabric is 4cm away from the wall. Distance between front side of the projector and the wall is 65cm.
My screen size is 120 inch.
Nexi, you are so kind answer my questions. about the Vividstorm screen UST 120" drop ceiling the black border in the
top reading the specs show 35cm high , could that size be reduced and what is the intention of the top black border, if the projector laser light coming from the bottom.
Well if there is no black border then projector would needed to be placed much higher in the air or the screen would need to be installed lower from ceiling,
where like this with long black border you can use this screen with various TV stands sizes and still adjust the screen to match it. The black border is very useful actually. Thanks man! Happy new year to you as well, wish you all the best :)
I m from india , I'm interested to buy . How can I get it?
Hi friend, thank you for your comment. You can order this screen from the link in the video description.
Are these kind of projector screens good only for UST? I currently own a short throw and want to buy one of these
Yes this screen is only for UST projector. But there is other type of ALR screens for short/long throw projectors.

This screen fabric only works with ultra short throw laser projectors. But you can use the same screen type from the same company but with regular ALR fabric for regular projectors. It's the grey color as well only without micro lines pattern.

How did you do to hide the screen csbos on the wall, did you not show in the video?
Please define "screen scbos"?
@@NexiTech cables
Aha, I replaced the entire factory/stock black cable with the white longer cable, and then I use rubber cable cover/holder from the screen to the fire place and down to floor. You can see it if you pause the video in the certain moments.
so it won’t deflect the lights coming from the ceiling now that it’s upside down right?
This is drop down ALR screen and it will block the light from the ceiling and pass the light from the floor. That's how it works. You can't use it differently it will not work.
@@NexiTech thanks, I thought it was a floor rising screen that you used upside down to become a drop down
Where did you bought this cabinet ?
Check this video. ua-cam.com/video/mZPXMH2IOMg/v-deo.html
You have links in video description.
I have the rise up version of the screen. Do you think it is possible to set the rise up screen and bolt upside down like you did?
I don't think so. If you flip the screen then the projector needs to be flipped as well which will pretty much kill the ability of ALR screen fabric to block the light from above.
@@NexiTech oh okay. Yah I am trying to figure out a solution to better cover the screens base and hide my vava 4k projector. But can’t find any entertainment stand that fits the dimensions.
I had the same problem. You would need to buy or make some custom stand or enclosure for the screen and projector.

Amazing super i like this
i got a similar model by i got vertical lines showing up for a few weeks now. any idea how to tighten the tension in it?
would simply painting the wall black be a good solution ?
No. The blacks would look great but the whites would be too dull. In fact, the overall picture would be too dim. As well, ALR screens best shine (pun intended) when used in a lighted room and that's a no-go with a black painted wall.
How did you hide the wire? 5:53
White wire housing.
Can you link to the stand?
What is the model of this vividstorm motorized screen please?
Dropdown ALR screen for UST laser projector.
what kind of speakers are u using?
I use good old Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers. You can see them in some of my latest videos. Not sure if you can found them any more. Sometimes I also use Mackie SRM 450 from music that you can see in the corners.

Amazing :D
Can I use alexa with this to bring down The screen
Have you tried 150” screen?
I don't have 150" ALR screen to test out, but the projector can project 150" screen without a problem.
Cool
What is the height of your entertainment center?
You mean the height of the screen when is unfolded? That's customizable.
I want the vava 📽
Would be cool to paint wall into black color.
Price please
Anything more affordable?
Screen costs 1755€ + 435€ for shipment.
For 2190€ you can get 85" OLED TV and we haven't started talking about any projector (which is another 2000€)
Unfortunately the prices has gone up so much sense I got my screen. World economy don't do so well lately. Maybe this is the better choice now: ua-cam.com/video/o43bKchQS04/v-deo.html
Do they have 150"?
I believe 120" is maximum size for this type of ALR screen fabric.
What is the size of your room?
It's basically extra living room in a basement. Total size of room is around 36 square meters but the wall where projector is placed is 4m long and distance to the sofa(wall) is 4.2m.
