Good pilot skills and got balls to do it. But correctly, it was not flying inverted (or upside down) but merely rolled or flipped. Inverted fly must be in hover for at least 30 seconds. I can see as soon as the heli flips upside down, it drops to the ground below pretty fast. So stop calling it flying upside down or inverted.
It’s been a dream of mine to hover a chopper inverted since I was a kid. We’re still a long way away from that, but this is freaking awesome! It’s people like this who keep pushing the limits of what is possible, who inspire me to do the same!
@@laupoke Not at all if they scale up and implement the same mechanics used in RC 3D heli’s. Just search 3D heli and you’ll be amazed at what’s actually capable.
What a very cool background to show case some amazing flying and an amazing helicopter. The City of New York's aviation community could use this great publicity. Nice job Red Bull.
1:28 looked scary, almost as if he was about to fail the recovery, spending a whole second with little rotor control and ended up recovering in the reversed direction
Yeah, I watched that a few times because it didn't seem quite right. I'm sure he's encountered that enough though that he was still fairly safe (in respect to what he does).
I was working for an oilfield company offshore and the PHI pilot did all of this and more with 5 of us employees. He was a Vietnam vet . Crazy as hell ! And I guess it was his last day as a pilot for PHI .
Top this one! One was flying upside down and trimming the tree tops. 👀 OMG i was waiting for it to crash. It rolled back over and it flew off ~This was only about 70' off the ground
Back in the 1960's I saw a Hughes OH-6 Cayuse helicopter flying up side down over the runway at the Culver City Hughes Aircraft airport in So. California.
people think that the blades spin fast and make lift... a helicopter can sit on the ground with the blades at full speed... the reason why is cause the blades are in neutral pitch 0 degree of angle on the blade.. to make the heli go up they use the collective stick, by pulling up on it the blades can change pitch to a positive attack and thats what creates the lift. to go down the press the collective down and the blades change pitch to a negative angle on attack to the air... when upside down hes using a bunch of negative pitch and the airflow is going down like it would be if the heli was upright...
Correct! Rainer Wilke has been doing aerobatics in the BO-105 once the 70's as well. He still performs today, and he is the one who trained me.👍 He is a very nice guy too. Our BO-105s are unmodified as well.
What would entered an autorotation upside down? You just come out of the turn then get the helicopter straight and level at a correct airspeed and RPM and continue lightly flaring at 40 feet then just flare harder harder harder level settle pull just like a normal straight in? I mean I have turned the R44 quite a bit in a 180 auto and its almost sideways then rolled out of the turn level and just continue a straight in normally. I am just blown away at the idea of lowering the collective and rolling off the throttle in a helicopter upside down. I see nothing aerodynamically that would stop the helicopter from being able to fly in and upside down auto. Obviously the inputs on the collective would be inverted. But I am not sure either the power required to get into upside down flight in a helicopter. But WOW if anyone wants to drop an explanation on me for upside down flying and entering an auto I would be so grateful.
Not only mesmerizing to watch but unbelievable to witness the aerobatic maneuvers Fitzgerald pulled off!
Wonder if he gives rides I'd love to go for a ride in that with him piloting. I'd pay some good 💰 for a ride.

Excelent vídeo!. Amazing!. 👏👏. LOVE RED BULL!.. Greetings From Argentina!!.
Right? We would too.
@@redbull Does Red Bull have any other cool videos like this?

well it's physically impossible
@@laupoke surely if the rotors were the other way around it would work
@@ciewb all you need to do is have negative collective. RC trick helicopters hover upside-down using negative collective.
@@laupoke Not at all if they scale up and implement the same mechanics used in RC 3D heli’s. Just search 3D heli and you’ll be amazed at what’s actually capable.
@@laupoke Apparently you don’t know enough about how rotor blades work much less what a 3D RC helicopter is.
I love these red bull vids
🙌
This video deserves more views, crazy stunts in a dope location and the editing is just perfect!
I was in New York at the time. And I saw the helicopter doing flips. And I immediately thought Red Bull should sponsor this dude.

That’s the reason why he has so much altitude
yeah I thought so too
Yeah, seems like the front flip didn’t work out too well.
BO-105 the best helicopter and the sound allison 250-20B/C....video AMAZING
This is why I love Red Bull.
i love redbull videos everything is so creative and amazing

I tasted their drinks and have never liked them. But I have always liked their content they make. Even their ads can be cool.

That’s pretty cool.
The wonders of a massive titanium rotor head and composite blades. I don't think I want to see footage of what those blades are up to. ;-)
It’s so weird, for some reason this makes me want a Red Bull.
That’s the point lol
Just BadAss!
This was awesome

Okaaaaay, let's go!
Here after watching Spectre pre-credit scene. Definitely the same helicopter.
Kobe!
when red bull actually gives you wings
Wonderful performance congratulations, really great 🙏
All right.. You are The New little bird pilot. Lets play BF4.
Barrel roll, loop and backflip all good and done but the front flip wasn't pure. He spiralled out of it. Is a pure front flip possible?
only in america love it
