Took much longer than I thought it would but we're here! This was a nostalgia trip for me to make because I had an excuse to bring up past MMO experiences I really enjoyed. I know I'm spamming them everywhere at this point but another DISCLAIMER that what we talked about in the conversation doesn't have a definite timeline on when it'll happen or if some of it will, but it's very interesting to know where their mind is at, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the social features & potential gameplay system ideas especially. Let me know what you folks would like to see!
1:16 mounts 4:35 gameplay systems and future zones 8:27 social aspects of new world 14:40 future gear sets and cosmetics 16:40 the weapons 18:28 expansions, naval system 4th faction
@@bendrury5108 Perhaps making it part RNG and also changing with IRL time zones (e.g. this old dude gives you this special furniture or quest if you go to this part of this exact forest from 10-11PM in the latter month of June etc). Then I at least would still find it fun even though I knew from the internet that such a thing exists. Idk, tbh the internet does tend to ruin some fun stuff, it's not even clear they will implement that kind of stuff since it's a non-essential thing, though it would be seen as bumping the lamp really nicely if they did...
The game is honestly a crafting game with combat. The crafting itself is enough of an incentive as is, but adding in things like this would really flesh out the world in a great way, and it would allow mounts too
That's what was so good about borderlands 2, all the hidden weapons chests to find. There is nothing better then secret hidden loot because it rewards exploration.
Been waiting! :D 1.) Mounts - Yeah, I'm happy to wait. A LONG time. I don't think the travel is an issue, especially given the updates. So I'd expect mounts to have a very thought-out and meaningful system, brought in my later when the world is larger. 2.) Zones - A little bit of both. I could see, as far as "major updates", a bi-yearly DLC/Update rollout. 1 being majorly feature-focused (new mechanics/game systems), and the other being a new World Map zone. Perhaps a new Weapon type would accompany each of these bi-yearly updates. Ideally, we'd have Expeditions/raids added every quarter alongside zone updates and additions to existing zones. 3.) Social - Just gotta say I'm 100% with you on this. MMOs began rooted in the deep social ties that can be made through online games, and this has since faded to anonymous competition and usually nothing more. It's a real shame. Anything they can do to encourage social behavior, and players actually relying on each other, the better. 4.) Tavern Games - Just yes. In-world interactable tables you can go to sit down at in the taverns that begins simple games like FARKLE. It seems silly, but people will put SO many hours into it and make SO many friends - and the more socially connected they are, the more likely they are to stick around. Got it, Amazon? ;) 5.) Tournaments - At least a sparring ring in each town. Just a simple square where you stand at each end to enter a queue, that automatically sets you to duel the person on the opposite side. BOOM. Easy feature, but shows activity in towns CONSTANTLY (people would use the hell out of these). Again, make the towns feel alive while adding fun. 6.) Company Housing - I've wanted this for a while. Kind of like a Guild Hall that the occupying Company has in each town - but I'd like to add a twist - I'd like it to be public. Only Company members could open chests and such of course, but it would be something the Company could showcase to all that pass by (or perhaps just the same faction). Again, make towns feel alive, give Companies more incentive to hold the town (they spent the time decorating!), and something new for people to see when they get into town. 7.) PANTHEON! You shouted out PANTHEON! AHH!
I would love it if they added new zones only in expansions. Fill up the zones we already have with interesting stuff and new systems imo!!! Having 100 zones won't mean much if they are almost empty.
At least for me, big yes to social activities like tavern, instruments, etc. I feel like those aspects can really make a game enjoyable to RP, creating your own experiences that can change day to day. It brings the type of experiences like when a group of players are chasing you down in PvP and you are running away like a coward while playing Sea Shanty 2 from runescape on an instrument and saying stupid non-sense on the microphone. Those are the types of experiences that give a good laugh for streamers and role players.
Totally agree gives a different way to connect with other people playing the game and opens up room for a bunch of fun possibilities. Especially thought the gambling with tavern games to be an exciting twist to a standard mmorpg.
Don't need Mounts on release. Make 'em good, release 'em a few expansions in. zone quality > zone quantity It's also a huge Yes to the social features. One of the key groups of players in MMOs are the socializers. The more features you, as a developer, implement the more love you get from them. It's also great to have lots of those around as a player. Multi-Company alliances should have been in the game from the start instead of those three boring NPC factions. Let the players do politics and fight each other for territory. Delete the NPC factions alltogether. Regarding weapons: a bow in real life is a weapon that requires a lot of strength to draw. A crossbow is way easier to draw because you use leverage. PS: Leya Jankowski from Mein MMO is bae.
Good suggestions apart from a request that would completely destroy the game. We, the plebians (this includes you if you're reading this), require simplistic leadership and herding. If a player is required to interact with others to participate in the territory control, the majority of players will exclude themselves from the activity. In New Worlds case, this is the entire game. NPC factions are permanent. Thankfully AGS recognizes the need for fun. Which is why they removed stagger like I, and many others, told Ser followers they would after the initial alpha in 2018.
If they want to evolve the mount system to the next level, I do have a suggestion! Following much along the lines of BDO, I would love for taming to be a profession. Some ideas to deepen the system if they really want to full dive: - Add mount breeding for better stats. - Allow for a mount market for the vast majority of mounts and things mount-related. --- On a related note, definitely add in a 'sell to server' feature to get rid of unwanted ones so they don't clog up the system. - Allow for colors/markings to be inheritable for style points. - Allow other species to be tameable. Want a war tiger? War bear? War panther? Gotta go through the breeding system/breeders or tame a wild one. - Event based species/sub-species could be a fun way of obtaining a limited edition mount. --- Events that are recurring once in a while preferred so that they're always in the system and don't eventually become something like 10 people have. - Event based colors could be neat but if they want to keep the feeling of the world 'authentic', then a hot pink and cyan war lion is probably not allowed. :(
The running is nothing compared to the overall quality of the game ... I happily run all over the map if the fucking core mechanics would work for once !
I think pvp supply caravan escorts would be sick, maybe a requisite for building defenses in a fort or for supplying an offensive war. What I want to see most is more reasons for open world pvp, more things to fight over for some sort of gain.
Detailed mounts hands down. I would love a horse / mount system similar to BDO where they stay in the world, you have breeding, stables, and armor crafting for the mounts. I do think it should be a bit more normalized than in BDO though, have the speed boosts for your mount be tied to the gear and armor you give the mount and less "tiered" mounts with the higher tier giving all the speed and perk bonuses. Should be tied to crafting system over rng breeding. Have the breeding be more for cosmetic looks like color, pattern, and style of horse.
I hate BDO mount breeding. It's a pointless added system that just tacks on extra grind for minimal benefit. It's one of the reasons I eventually decided to drop the game entirely. Everything was a pointless grind with no real benefit.
Honestly, fuck the mount it's not needed, just add a Sprint function. There's already a stamina system in the game so I don't see why it isn't there. Make it so you can jump and attack. Add more combos and make it so you can dodge mid attack negating it. Add dodge attacks so you can dodge and counter and bam 5/5 goty potential.
What amazes me about this game is the care and how much the devs interact with the community. If they keep this rolling, i bet this game will be the best action mmorpg
well they didn't say no. lol They just said not the next weapons they are planning to put into the game. I do seem them adding it tho, maybe around 2 months after the launch?
I have never seen such a open conversation from a developer many other MMORPG's can learn something from them especially closed companies like Blizzard that rarely to never communicate with their community anymore cause they just don't care anymore except about the players wallet. New World really seems like they want to work with the community to create a insane good game with them. I'm hyped.
I don't tend to comment or anything but as a mmo player since 2004, I can say your output is very wise and appropriate, me, my gf and many other old-school mmo'ers... and we go from WoW all the way to Maplestory, FFXIV and we have been hardcore, RP fun, casuals, testers, and so forth. New World seems to be the game for us. so keep the hardwork.
Amazing video. As always, great work! Big yes to taking as much time as they need with mounts (it would be great having something really unique, rather than regular mounts) and a bigger yes to music instruments and other social mechanics! I'd personally prefer they focusing on improving the world and making it feel more alive rather than adding more zones. Thanks for providing AGS with our feedback!!
About the marriage thing: my wife and I both play Final Fantasy XIV and the game also has a wedding/marriage system, where you can even invite friends as guests via mail and set a specific date in game for attendance. As rewards, depending on the tier of wedding you went for (it is a paid cash shop feature but does have a free tier where you get the basic rewards), you get a two seater mount, wedding dress and suit customisation options, the guests get a few souvenirs like pets and such. And most importantly you and your partner get a wedding ring that allows you to teleport to each other wherever in the world for free with a cooldown.
A bow takes a lot more strength than a crossbow. It is actually one of the funny things about the stats in games because bows are always dex but archers had like crazy strong forearms to use bows.
Mounts is fun, if done right. Basically everything he said in the video sounds like it was from BDO which i like. But mounted combat would be nice too, with horse armor etc.
Appreciate your constant updates, it has put a lot of the questions many of us had at rest. Love your informative and guide videos Ser keep up the great work.
This is hands down the best New World related video I've seen on UA-cam. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :) Absolutely love the way your mind works and the ideas you've come up with. My fav idea was adding tavern games where we can gamble with others using our in game gold, but other things such as dynamic events like guild wars 2 will be awesome to see too. PvP missions to escort caravans etc would be so cool. Also agree that they should focus on adding depth/content to the existing map before making it bigger. A large open world means nothing if it's empty - in fact it would just make traversal even worse. One thing (the only thing) I disagree on is adding mounts to the game. It kinda goes against the idea of open world PvP because people can just ride around without fear of being attacked. Also there is a lot of exploration that the player will miss out on. It should be about the journey, more than the destination. I would love to stumble across random dungeons etc to distract me along the way, like what Skyrim had. I think instead they should add sprinting, at the cost of stamina. Cut scenes would be amazing too. Wish you went into more detail about your discussions around the stagger system. Combat feels so weightless and spammy without it. Keep up the good work!
One system that wasnt explored much but i think thats amazing: Specialty trading system. Archeage did that and work like this: You get the materials (in Archeage you would grow in your farms or get in the wild), create a pack (that is stored in the back of the character that make you walk slowly) and you go to another settlement to sell, the far the settlement is, the more expensive will be for selling, that could open some nice gameplay experiences.
One thing that I would love to see and that would add to the social part of the game is Large Open Dungeons (no instancing). Where player would need to explore and group up to access new areas. Just like we had in Everquest. Players would need to interact with each other and multiple group could work together on clearing areas and camping areas.
I came upon your channel earlier today watching your New World weapons coverage. Watched part 1 & 2 the video and decided to channel sub for the New World content as already purchased game. I like your level headedness, outlook and approach of the game. Content is well done in coverage.
One of my suggestions is: A character personality panel built into the game. For example: if we had a page built in to put ethnicity, age, birthplace, personality traits, etc. That would add a lot for not just role players but I think even normal players to connect to their characters on a deeper level. It doesn’t need to be super in depth, but this way you can really make your character, YOURS.
Ok Amazon hear me out(WARNING not a english native speaker): - Creating ur own Firm like gathering money and having a specific level on Armory for example then u create a firm and search for more smiths having ur own building with crafting tables etc (I cant be more specific bcs it's just an idea havent thought about the details) - Bard Class , it should be a special class like u are allowed to only have a little knife and the bard weapon , I dont want to see ppl with giant hammers switching to bard buffing everyone and himself then dealing damage so I think the Bard weapon should be a quest where you basically loan the bard weapon and bard knife from an NPC and cant switch the weapons during combat, if u unequipe bard weapon you drop skill points, if you dont like the class you should go to the npc and return the weapons. If you like the class you should go to this NPC to upgrade ur weapons( maybe this idea sucks hard but again havent thought about details so you guys can extract the good ideas and change it) Do you guys have other ideas? Im open to tell me what is bad and what is good
Agreed with you on all your points - The big 2 for me were the giving players more social things, adding more things to the world, and 100% wait for a more robust mount system. Having reasons to fuck around and talk to people are parts of my fondest memories in older mmos.
Yes....on so many levels YES! Love the ideas and possibilities of future content and direction of the game. This game has soooo much potential. I'm very happy they are polishing the current content before rushing out more stuff. 31 Aug can't come soon enough.
I HIGHLY support your Idea of Musical Instruments ! As a Warframe Veteran since Year 1 we even have a Shawzin (= Guitar) with Community-made Songs which can be shared and even an own Warframe which is built to make Music with her Abilities and they do massive Damage and we love her ❤
I would gladly wait for a solid mounts system as you mentioned. Sorry to hear about the greatsword... can't wait to try it out. Thanks for the great video!
Musical instruments were a key component in SWG. You had to visit cantinas and rag tag outposts to grab a drink and listen to the band performing in order to get buffs. No groups needed, just stroll in, hang out by the band and get you buff after a few mins. When this happened the Cantina was packed full with tons of players and even a good spot to find intel if you were bounty hunting.
After you get past level 25 or so travel is no longer really an issue. For Bards I think a music book would be better than a specific weapon. I think it would be neat to add instruments to the crafting system so you could have the generic music book but then you could craft your preferred instrument. Flute, Lute, Bag pipes, Accordion, drum etc. or it could just be skins in the store that give your music book weapon a different look sound and feel.
@@etherealceleste Agreed and we have several in our company that will be focusing on crafting right out of the gate so it will be an issue for them for sure.
Fantastic video. The topics you discussed matched several posts I'd made myself. Mounts: Absolutely, take the time and do it right. I'd love to see more themed zones like Ebonscale, and to see more options to make houses in those same themes. Instruments, the additional social aspects are fantastic, especially with roleplayers. People enjoy seeing that kind of thing a lot, it's a social game in the first place, so more systems for people to interact with and with each other would be amazing. Company halls as well, along with storage. The addition of more weapons would be great too, and I figured that was always be something they're constantly working on. When we got to the potential naval system and pirates and such, I had an idea. I don't know how much of the map is already designed, but I was thinking that maybe Aeternum is sort of ring shaped, and in the center is a huge lake, or maybe a big bay, or a series of islands. If new zones were north off the current map, and if they ever got the caravan system going as well, the naval system would support the transportation of goods quickly, which in turn would give people more options on things to do: Pirates, merchant fleets, sea monsters, etc. I think that would be absolutely fantastic. Two thumbs WAY up!
i think a drummer could be a good instrument to have as a weapon. They have been used in battles to keep march pace etc and could give the party attack speed buffs for example.
Ser Medieval, I have a request should you be so inclined. I have played Beta event last year and really enjoyed the combat ( albeit stunlocking with light attacks was a bit overwhelming especially when fighting groups ).... after seeing new Gameplay from 2021 I was a bit shocked in a bad way. Not only the combat feels "flimsy/spammy" or "floaty" with minimal or no pain reactions but the animations for a lot of skills ( like rain of fire from fire staff ) they look boring / visually nerfed. Could you make a video about explaning the COMBAT in depth? From light attacks to heavy attacks, what can trigger a "pain reaction" / stun.... It seems the game is more "spammy" and casualized which will make me think twice about buying it. In games like Dark Souls or heck even Tera you not only had to react but plan your next move because wrong spacing / timing could put you in a world of pain. That's how i remember New World Beta last year.
the information about what kind of attacks stun is super important for me too. Since the current combat does really not seem responsive enough but very casual with all overdriven visual effects and the loss of stagger. Also the animation change on the sword and shield...
The biggest thing I´m currently afraid about this game is its economics. Crafting is so great here but if there aren´t good ways how to get items destroyed/used economy will overflow soon and crafting will become irrelevant. I think this is really important and if it wont be resolved it can break the game (or make its live much shorter)!
@@budakhon yes, but what he is talking about is that there is no true equipment decay; just use some gold and repair parts and your Level 60 awesome gear is repaired. So unless your server is constantly getting new players, your crafters will eventually be put out of business because once everyone is Level 60 with their best gear, they have it forever and don't need a crafter to craft new gear. I think gear should be repairable, but it's max durability should lower every time you repair it. Once it's reached 0/0 durability it should no longer be useable and you'll now have to go farm new equipment or get a crafter to make you something.
The world I am in the economy sucks I got 2 epics yesterday for 20 gold each, good for me but bad for getting a house. The town I was in only has 2 house sold no one has gold.
Mounts are always nice especially in larger zones. some of the "better" more robust systems are in ESO, ArcheAge or Black Desert - each has it's points and something like that would be useful. For mid-range to long rides there could be a rent-a-mount type place (EQ2 has those) that goes from point A to B, so you don't have to run in lower level zones. Music/social in LoTRO was very well done, same as having many useful animation - smoking pipe weed, etc. Or you could have the taverns have buffs - play an instrument or drink a specific drink. Definitely looking forward to hopefully boats/shipping - the best thing about ArcheAge. Hidden gems in a game are always fun - caves, secret vendors, unlocking puzzles, etc. Thanks for all your reporting!
I would absolutely love to see Flail+shield as another tanking Option being focus based to pair it with the debuffs of the icegauntlet or subtank with minor heals or Protection buffs as a Paladin
Bard weapon would be great - lute, drums, flute would all be workable. I've seen stuff where flute does interruptions, drums do battle buffs (best distance) and lutes do some form of healing of disease/poison (verses injury/bleeds which would be life). The nice thing about using these three instruments for support combat is that they also are the base instruments for a band and could be used for social.
concerning mounts: id rather want them to plan it right und detailed! if it takes time, no prob. im planning to play that game quite a while if its well designed!!! it got the potential! i personnally would have a mount rather for addiotional bagspace than travelling faster. guess id be happy aswell with a donkey i can load my stuff on xD
Cool idea for the musical combat is make it take any musical instrument as a weapon and have the trees generic enough to make sense, then have each attack sounds different based on the weapon equipped. That would make bards pretty badass. I really like the gems that can turn almost any weapon into a semi-INT based weapon, I think it would be cool to have more combinations like that where you might be able to turn a STR weapon into a DEX weapon or something. Maybe that would over-complicate things, but I would love it. I think that island exploration and treasure hunting idea would be really cool. Like if there were some way to do an "expedition" to a randomly generated island that had a random quest, enemy theme, and resources to gather. I think it would be pretty cool (something like Animal Crossing, but MMORPG style).
Wow so much information and content. First Thank you for the videos. I think that an alliance would be redundant because of the faction system, it acts like an alliance already. You are 100% spot on with the social aspect an your ideas. I would love a Bard and musical instruments as well as NPCs in the community. I for one want to see the daggers and Darts or throwing stars to make a rouge/assassin or faction based religious character like a necro, druid or cleric. But I do enjoy the simplistic start of this game that will allow for expansions and further development. Not giving us everything all at one. I have been playing MMO since UO and EQ and it is refreshing to "start from scratch". I don't think we need a mount system yet and they can ties the arrival of horses to the LORE in future. Maybe elephants, mules carriages and chariots as well. As for tavern games I am all for this as well but there may be an issue in EU with their wagering laws. Again thank you for the videos.
Please no mini games, no gambling, none of that. Why do we need gambling inside of the game? Why do we need Texas holdem inside of the game? This would ruin it for me. Slippery slope as well. We say we are okay with gambling and next thing you know they are adding in RNG Loot boxes onto the cash shop. Say no to gambling! It ruins life's people.
Issue: as someone who loves dungeons, I'd love to see more. The expedition key used up upon entry is kinda poop because building another key takes some pretty decent amount of resources to do. What about a key ring for your expedition orbs(keys)? Sure make them craftable, but keep them as a slot like the staff of azoth. Building a key(orb) for each expedition would be a pain, but once you did it...you could access the area and farm it. This would have to be for every person in the party, not just the person who opens the expedition
I used to play a flute on guild wars 2. Studying notes and practicing timing was a game for me on its own. Mastering songs took time and effort and I ended up making some gold for my performance of multiple songs. When I see other games automatically playing music, I don't bother. I got high standards for in game instruments now
In Utlima Online (UO), a fisherman could pull up a treasure map. There was a specific skill that allowed treasure hunters to use their skills to find the treasure using the map, so it was neat thing that a gathering skill fed to a separate in-game skill. Players could sell the treasure map (because it was a once use and done item) or have a character skilled to utilize it. It was a fun feature. UO also had arenas that allowed guilds to host tournaments for dueling and such... it was nice that players could make events. A second event type that players could make were to 'dress up' as a specific monster type (orcs for instance) and role play PvP but as Orcs.
@@Avid_Reader yeah in alpha that ended up being bad because people made alts to "spy" and it really ruined the war experience. keeping it to one is a better experience overall.
@@Avid_Reader Your character can do everything and isn't locked to any skills at all. Multiple characters per sever has more downsides for the functions of the game than the benefit of people being able to look different for rp. You don't want people logging on all their alts signing up for wars just to not show up. Or an "extra bank". The list goes on. It makes players unique and knowing that every person who joins is that person's only character. Unless they buy multiple copies.
Thank you Ser Medieval, you're awesome! I agree with you on about 90% of your opinions about New World. I am so excited to realize the potential of this game. I imagine a really cool mount system with abilities and all kinds beautiful and menacing armor and looks. It would include carts, carriages, and even war machines with blunderbuss and cannons. I imagine PVP battles that would be like, protect the payload, that includes treasures of magical items, crafting materials or even NPCs. Who knows? Outpost Rush is only the very beginning. Would it be amazing to see lines of cavalry charging into battle with guards wielding polearms to trying to take them down. In my opinion, the 17th Century military, weapons, tactics and expeditions could be the basis of PVP and PVE battle environments. It was such an adventurous time in history. I believe that as long as Amazon listens to the community, and the community understands that its going to take time, patience, and money. New World will evolve into an awesome, next generation MMO. Thank you for all you do.
you toouched some good points, i like where this is going! didnt get to play the beta but i cand wait for the release so i can hop on! im so hyped about this!
Archeage does a great job in creating music and playing it on different instruments. It even has its own profession. I would LOVE to also see a proper Bard weapon as in Rift the Bard is my favourite class to play. More aspects to taverns and mini games would be awesome too. Imagine a band playing their music while you sit down and drink, make friends and playing card games etc. These would make New World a great place to RP.
After playing the beta for 100+ hours, these are my impressions and thoughts Topic 1 - Detailed mounts is definitely the way to go... as you said, fast travel points are handling it pretty well for now. Topic 2 - New systems would be really nice. Something to change the monotony of the town board quests, and make the world feel more alive. Like you said, merchant escorts that leaves towns every now and then. Side quests chains that tells really nice stories (witcher 3 does this kind of things reeeally well). Topic 3 - I totally agree with everything you said about social interaction in the game. Topic 4 - I personally think that lore in the game should be naturally given to the player, without using dialog with npcs. Maybe Quests titles and a few cinematics should do the trick. Most players don't even know what the lore is about because they just dont read npc dialogs. Topic 5 - I don't think the game need more weapons. Maybe adding more passives and buffs to each weapon would be nice though. Topic 6 - I think that adding factions will depend on the map's size. I really love this game and want to see it getting better and better. Really nice work you are doing.
I like the factionless base. They could use the town mission board, where those in the faction would use their faction board like now. There could be an npc associated with purchases too
My most important peeve with the weapon system is that we get to spec into a limited number of passives and abilities. I would have LOVED what the secret world did before them. You can buy all passives and abilities but you have to slot a limited number of them. Like, only one ultimate from either line, only 3 or 4 generic passives from both lines, etc. Think about it. And you can buy slots for different builds including different attribute distributions. Basically making it possible to open up horizontal growth where you can eventually play all roles and with different setups...
Treasure hunting and online/island exploration would absolutely make my day!! I adore that kind of content in any game, and it would offer more reasoning to explore the map. It could also be used to offer unique or rare rewards that would be difficult to acquire elsewhere (or just not offered anywhere else!).
What I really hope for this game is a super engaging story quest lines even if they are just side quest. What is important to me is that the quest should really be interesting with deep story that will get you hook and will let you be curious in what will happen next.
I honestly don't care if they don't add faster travel speed to mounts, at this time, I just think mounts would add a whole new dynamic to the game and the immersion factor. They could sell skins in the shop. If you get in combat, just have it dismount you automatically. After time goes on, they could then add a speed boost if they decide to. You could tie it to your campfire at a safe location and then go on foot from there.
Thanks for the info as always, definite appreciate it. Although I was hoping to hear a little more about their plans regarding faction imbalance, and if they have any ideas on how they’re going to deal with the associated problems. I was also hoping to hear they’re plans on stagger. Whether it would be added back to heavy attacks, or if an entire light attack chain lands, etc. The game incentivizes light and heavy attack usage as important tools of your arsenal, but right now they have little to no weight.
While I disagree with you on the 4th faction part you are 1000000% right on the dynamic events especially around npcs sieging settlements and such. These world events really bring players together and create a massive sense of a living world as long as its not too static. As for weapons would love a lightning gauntlet and dual wield would be nice. Cant wait for this game and thanks for all your awesome coverage mate!
I really thank you, Ser Medieval, for mentioning the stagger-side. I loved this game and I pre-ordered it but for me, without being dramatic, with what they did with the stagger, and also to the sword animation with this whirlwind combo thing, I can not stick with the game in a long term, eventhough I love many things about the game in general. I really keep my fingers crossed, they will find another solution than removing stagger completely from the basic attacks of the sword and shield. I don't understand why they don't bring up a partial stagger with the heavy attack, so that after once being staggered you are immun for a while or anything similar...
Thanks for the good thoughts! 1. I'd be patient to wait for a good mounting system rather than getting mounts early. 2. I don't think necromancers fit into the setting of the game. Reasons for that: It's not the medieval typical setting (and I like that very much), it's more the newer age with Conquistadores/Musketeers/Pirates, we have no specific class system, necromancer usually crushed the balance between the character classes and we already have the life staff in the game that allows the player to heal by dealing damage = necromancer. A debuffing and buffing weapon could be nice, but I’m not sure what weapon that could be - maybe some spiritual things. When thinking about new weapons, sure greatswords are nice, crossbows, pistols, halberds are also fine, but I’d also consider the setting New World plays in. New World goes some new way which I personally like very much. So thinking about new ways, what about sabers, grenades, whip with attached blades, portable mini cannons, blowpipes, something between science and alchemy etc. ...and why is magic always bound to stuffs? 3. Other pvp orientated games proved before that there always has to be an odd number of factions. Otherwise one got too powerful. So please keep that in mind if new fractions may be considered to find their way into the game.
Ser Medieval i hope you get to see this, 2 important topics for us(me and my friends) and its worth to mention that we are a bit more hardcore. 1)DPS meter with target dummies, this way we can weight the DPS versus cc and work our way to actually know what build we want to take 2)A guild leader must offer an amount of money as a reward to players defending a territory that are not a part of the guild, win or lose the mercenary gets the payout automatically for participating after the time limit for the war is run out. If the guild leader cant afford mercenaries than he will have to fight with a lower number of players. (also i have to mention that i haven't played since preview but i haven't found any of that yet in videos so if its already out there my bad)
First of all, thanks a lot for this video and the other one! Overall, it seems very promising and I'm very excited to play this game, even more after seeing this two videos. I agree with the suggestions/topics you discussed with them and i would like to see them in the game. I strongly agree with making the game much more than getting into the endgame. I feel like this games are to be played at everyone's pace and still be able to enjoy it. Things like: PVP events for certain level thresholds will for sure remove this "get to max lvl anxiety" that corrupted the MMO genre. On the same page, I agree it's better to analize existing content to improve it before adding new disjointed content. Also, I want to make two suggestions regarding weapons: - What about making that several weapons have the same skill tree? For example, great axes and great swords can share the same skillsets. It's a little problematic from my experience to create skillsets for similar weapons rather than create a completely new skillsets for non existing weapons (Bard skillset). Aditionally, there's the possibility to add a small difference in stats between great axe and great sword, so players looking to minmax will be pleased on par with players looking to use his/her favourite weapon. - About the Bard weapons: i suggest 2 new bard weapons: one with defensive buffs and other with offensive ones. Both of them could have a skillset focused on buffs, and the other one with damage skills. This way main buffers can experience the game with its favourite weapon and use a second one to cover weakneses. Example weapons: drums or dancer/war cryer. What do you think about this suggestions? I hope we can enjoy this game, improving it as a community!
I don't know man not much to say except we are on the same page about most things here and I'm excited! I think mounts not in the game yet is a good thing for the speed of the game. I think they are doing a great job of listening to feedback. They'll get most stuff right. I really would enjoy tavern games and drinking with friends! The taverns are always so inviting I was sad I couldn't use the chairs and stuff. I also forgot there is no swimming! I crossed so many underwater places with the life staff HAHA! Not going to be doable now! Great job man as always thanks for the updates! You get bored of the alpha just pass that key my way ;) (Oh and I've decided! Full constitution with extra in strength Sword/Shield and Great Axe! Been doing a bunch of mock builds online and excited for them!)
So much good ideas! I cannot think about how good this game would be if they really will add some of the things you mentioned.

About mounts: It would be great to be able to fight in your mount.... with some bonus (speed) and some disadvantages (less accuracy, etc..) so you could choose how you want to combat.
As a fourth faction, it would be the mercenaries, the people who prefer to play alone and also do not want to join a company but now and then still want to participate in the faction fighting. As a neutral faction individual mercenaries offer their skills. If in your faction too few people are online or doing something else you can hire the fourth faction the people and the people individually respect or build trust on the specific factions.
Before all the fluff stuff, i think the ability to quest together is more important. Like in Lotro, you can see what quests party members have, and if you share a quest which is in a chain the other player get the quest they can accept in the chain.
Thank you for talking to them about a dynamic quest system. I have mentioned quite a few times on their official forums how an event system like in GW2 could work incredibly well in a game like new world. As for future weapons, I would love to see a torch offhand added. Not sure what it would scale off of though.
Took much longer than I thought it would but we're here! This was a nostalgia trip for me to make because I had an excuse to bring up past MMO experiences I really enjoyed.
I know I'm spamming them everywhere at this point but another DISCLAIMER that what we talked about in the conversation doesn't have a definite timeline on when it'll happen
or if some of it will, but it's very interesting to know where their mind is at, I'm going to keep my fingers crossed for the social features & potential gameplay system ideas especially.
Let me know what you folks would like to see!
thank you!!!

I REALLY REALLY like the idea of hidden secrets in the world to encourage people's exploration of the map
That doesn't work with the invention of the internet lol, not so secret if everyone knows where it's at
@@bendrury5108 Perhaps making it part RNG and also changing with IRL time zones (e.g. this old dude gives you this special furniture or quest if you go to this part of this exact forest from 10-11PM in the latter month of June etc).
They would have to be instanced and procedurally generated to prevent online spoilers.
Been waiting! :D
1.) Mounts - Yeah, I'm happy to wait.
Got it, Amazon? ;)
5.) Tournaments - At least a sparring ring in each town.
AHH!
detailed mount system, less fast travel, yes to all social aspects mentioned,
I would love it if they added new zones only in expansions.
Perfectly said
@@homiz96 thanks :)
Totally agree gives a different way to connect with other people playing the game and opens up room for a bunch of fun possibilities. Especially thought the gambling with tavern games to be an exciting twist to a standard mmorpg.

Don't need Mounts on release. Make 'em good, release 'em a few expansions in.
zone quality > zone quantity
It's also a huge Yes to the social features.
100%
They don’t want to give you mounts they want to sell them to you in the form of a pay wall micro transaction
If they want to evolve the mount system to the next level, I do have a suggestion!
Following much along the lines of BDO, I would love for taming to be a profession. Some ideas to deepen the system if they really want to full dive:
- Add mount breeding for better stats.
Having to run everywhere without a mount regardless of having fast travel points makes me almost angry inside lol
The running is nothing compared to the overall quality of the game ... I happily run all over the map if the fucking core mechanics would work for once !
Doesn't even matter what's in this, I see musical instruments, I LIKE!
haha I bet you would love a bard!
Great content, I would even watch the video even if its 1 hour long.
Totally agree!
I think pvp supply caravan escorts would be sick, maybe a requisite for building defenses in a fort or for supplying an offensive war. What I want to see most is more reasons for open world pvp, more things to fight over for some sort of gain.
exactly, open world PvP needs to be emphasized more.
Why would you want your mount to stay in the world? its an MMORPG not just an RPG. Get that annoying shit out of here.
No mounts !
Love the new animation and the editing of this video. Thank Ser Medieval!
What amazes me about this game is the care and how much the devs interact with the community. If they keep this rolling, i bet this game will be the best action mmorpg
Nooo! I need the Greatsword too!!!
well they didn't say no. lol They just said not the next weapons they are planning to put into the game.
One of the few people on UA-cam who isn't making videos bashing the game over and over.
A bow takes a lot more strength than a crossbow. It is actually one of the funny things about the stats in games because bows are always dex but archers had like crazy strong forearms to use bows.
I've gotten too old/weak to use my recurve bow (IRL). Beautiful bow, very sad.
We don’t need mounts. We need to enjoy the scenery and all the materials you can farm on the way. There is lots of fast travel
Mounts is fun, if done right. Basically everything he said in the video sounds like it was from BDO which i like. But mounted combat would be nice too, with horse armor etc.
Wait for the mount. Allow people to learn the map a little. Remember everquest 1 level 8 going from quenos to Freeport was an all day event.
I remember that and in beta it was rough, especially going back for your corpse
Appreciate your constant updates, it has put a lot of the questions many of us had at rest. Love your informative and guide videos Ser keep up the great work.
This is hands down the best New World related video I've seen on UA-cam. You've just earned yourself a new subscriber :)
Absolutely love the way your mind works and the ideas you've come up with.
One of my suggestions is:
A character personality panel built into the game.
For example: if we had a page built in to put ethnicity, age, birthplace, personality traits, etc. That would add a lot for not just role players but I think even normal players to connect to their characters on a deeper level. It doesn’t need to be super in depth, but this way you can really make your character, YOURS.
Ok Amazon hear me out(WARNING not a english native speaker):
- Creating ur own Firm like gathering money and having a specific level on Armory for example then u create a firm and search for more smiths having ur own building with crafting tables etc (I cant be more specific bcs it's just an idea havent thought about the details)
- Bard Class , it should be a special class like u are allowed to only have a little knife and the bard weapon , I dont want to see ppl with giant hammers switching to bard buffing everyone and himself then dealing damage so I think the Bard weapon should be a quest where you basically loan the bard weapon and bard knife from an NPC and cant switch the weapons during combat, if u unequipe bard weapon you drop skill points, if you dont like the class you should go to the npc and return the weapons. If you like the class you should go to this NPC to upgrade ur weapons( maybe this idea sucks hard but again havent thought about details so you guys can extract the good ideas and change it)
Do you guys have other ideas? Im open to tell me what is bad and what is good
Agreed with you on all your points -
The big 2 for me were the giving players more social things, adding more things to the world, and 100% wait for a more robust mount system.
Having reasons to fuck around and talk to people are parts of my fondest memories in older mmos.
Quality content, thanks Ser Medieval. Really enjoyed your take.
Flute, Lute, Bag pipes, Accordion, drum etc. or it could just be skins in the store that give your music book weapon a different look sound and feel.
travel is still an "issue" if you use all your Azoth crafting... but that's just a choice that has to be made, not a complaint.
@@etherealceleste Agreed and we have several in our company that will be focusing on crafting right out of the gate so it will be an issue for them for sure.
Good job Medieval!!! I feel my hype increasing to over 8000 thousand.
Really happy to see they are asking these questions and taking feedback. This is the MMO I'm most excited for. This game has so much potential.
I see these fishing boats everywhere, I want one so bad.
I wanna be in the middle of the ocean, pond, lake, river and hotspots, quietly fishing
Swimming... LOL. Yes, I thought it was very odd that I was walking on the lake bottom like the scene from "The Highlander".
Lol Highlander was exactly the way I felt the first time I went in deep water.
i think a drummer could be a good instrument to have as a weapon. They have been used in battles to keep march pace etc and could give the party attack speed buffs for example.
Carnyx as an instrument, basically a very dynamic and bad ass war horn
@@andreasblank910 Exactly and not many people are talking about it...
Isn't there a binding on equip feature?
3 sided battleground (like DAOC). Name of the dungeon was: Darkness Falls. That would be GREAT! Lets go!
True, there are 3 factions in NW anyways . So 3 sided bg is fun too.
Make me think more about Planetside 2 to be honest.
#1, Detailed mount system. #2, FIST WEAPONS!!! GJ Ser Medieval, Great suggestions and thank you so much for the great feedback content/videos.
Love rhe new opening cinematic for your video's!
Adding Mongols, Persians and other ancient and medieval civilizations a a go for me it's gold.
You nailed it with Mabinogi and it's social aspect. The newer MMO definitely need to a focus on some social aspects, that's what make MMO special
Big yes for more RP features like poker in taverns, instruments, marriage, etc
The fact Amazon Games is doing a better job than many older game developers
Yes! I waited all day for this :D
I would absolutely love to see Flail+shield as another tanking Option being focus based to pair it with the debuffs of the icegauntlet or subtank with minor heals or Protection buffs as a Paladin
not enough games have flails, id love a flail, not just purely for tanking but also dps and it should scale higher off of dex
Dragon Age Origins was great, one of my fav rpgs.
1000% willing to wait for a detailed mount system!
Some things I’d like - swimming animation (at a minimum), mercenary companies that are hired by factions for various purposes, pistols.
I think a cool idea would be like a traveling carnival that travels to different zones and has games like target games. Dunk tanks etc
What about better character creation? Is it improved already, or still like in the preview? I really love to spend time on creating my Avatar
And the ability to have multiple characters on a server. I like variety myself.
@@Avid_Reader switch the "or" to an "and" and im with u (;
@@zooarmy23 Done!
Darkness falls in new world would be amazing!
Hell ya DF from DAoC style
you toouched some good points, i like where this is going!
didnt get to play the beta but i cand wait for the release so i can hop on! im so hyped about this!
After playing the beta for 100+ hours, these are my impressions and thoughts
Topic 1 - Detailed mounts is definitely the way to go... as you said, fast travel points are handling it pretty well for now.
Great video, great information!
OOHH yessss pls, I think the social aspecto of a MMO is the most important one. Keeping an eye on that card game ideas
Wait for a mount system …. Stables, crafting, leveling etc around mounts would be an awesome addition
I would love mounts! I'd be absolutely fine with waiting just along as I get a confirmation.
Pirates of the Carribean Online was a hidden gem. it had it's problems, but damn now that I'm older i didn't realize how good it was.
Ser Medieval i hope you get to see this, 2 important topics for us(me and my friends)
and its worth to mention that we are a bit more hardcore.
1)DPS meter with target dummies, this way we can weight the DPS versus cc and work our way to actually know what build we want to take
2)A guild leader must offer an amount of money as a reward to players defending a territory that are not a part of the guild, win or lose the mercenary gets the payout automatically for participating after the time limit for the war is run out.
Also, I want to make two suggestions regarding weapons:
- What about making that several weapons have the same skill tree?
You get bored of the alpha just pass that key my way ;)
(Oh and I've decided!
Lute = Defensive buffs for the group || Flute = Offensive, see Anchorman for reference.
