    I honestly can't say enough good things about your channel. I'm a new makeup artist and this channel along with your individual ones have been a fantastic resource for me! You're both seem so friendly and down to earth too, I really hope you ladies never stop making videos!

    I've been doing makeup for about 13 years altogether, and film/tv/editorial makeup for the past 7 years, but I still feel like I have a lot to learn. You ladies are doing an amazing job with these vlogs and I'm getting so much benefit from them! I think I've spent more money on products over the past week than I usually spend in a few months b/c your kit recommendations are great and I'm so psyched to try the things you recommended that I don't already own! So thank you both for sharing with us!

    Loved your video! I'm not a MUA, but I studied art and I'm a designer... I just love learning about makeup and beauty, I really enjoy colors, textures, playing with lights and shadows, etc. Everytime you applied foundation to the back of your hand to feel it, reminded me of how much I love art supplies and makeup! Lol! Please keep posting videos, I promise I'll keep watching!

    There are so many amazing airbrush foundations out there. Unless it's a pod type system (like Temptu) you can use any airbrush foundation brand through any traditional compressor. Regarding regular makeup through the airbrush see Melissa's comment. Basically the issue is that you have to thin it enough to go through the needle. -Kim

    Kim and I both use RCMA, Graftobian and Kett cream foundations in our kits - this video is just what we are using at the moment - I personally and professionally love all three of those lines - great heavy coverage that can been sheered out easily, long lasting, looks amazing on camera. Thank you for your comments and for subscribing! - Melissa

    Hi there - I am wearing either Chanel VitaLumiere Aqua in 20 or I am wearing LaMer in a light tone (it's actually Kim's go to and she was kind enough to let me try it). I will say this...on my skin I noticed that the LaMer needed to be powdered down during the day a little more than I am used too, but I loved how it made my skin look! We film many tutorials over the course of two days when we are together so I am not sure which day this was! - Melissa

    I've been using RCMA forever. I actually studied with Vincent Kehoe who created the line. It's a staple in most pros kits. I like Ben Nye and Joe Blasco too. I use Graftobian and Kett as well in both their cream and airbrush makeups. -Kim

    Darlene - I am going to suggest that you check out the Eve Pearl line - even though we did not mention her line in this video we both use it and love it - it has great coverage, has skincare infused within it and it comes in a variety of skin tones - check it out online or at Naimes Beauty Supply - Melissa

    When i first heard how important the compatibility between the primer and the foundation was, i literally ran to check my foundations...disappointing because the ingredients where written in the box which all, of course, i threw long ago...
    Most of the foundations you lovely girls showed us can't find them near me though...
    Whenever you upload a new video can't wait to watch it...at least for me it feels "home" :D

    I like the Graftobian cream foundation line, but I use the dual powder formulations from that brand more. When I need a cream I tend to grab my RCMA palette, Bobbi Brown or Eve Pearl line. - Melissa

    Most likely you have both - here is what I do when shopping for foundation colors - if you are going to the counter - have them swatch your jawline and neck with 3 different colors within your skin range (one with a yellow undertone, one pink and one neutral) take a hand mirror and walk outside - look at which one seems to disappear into your skin - don't be surprised if you need 2 different colors. - Hope this helps! - Melissa

    It's hard to decipher a bit but sounds like you have combination skin. Use 2 different foundations. In your oily T-Zone use an oil free matte foundation. Also, a good idea is to use a strong astringent like Keihl's Blue Astringent or SeaBreeze on the T Zone first then apply the foundation. On the rest of your face that is normal to dry use a regular foundation or tinted moisturizer. (It looks like a mask because it's too heavily applied or the product is too opaque.)

    I actually love the La Mer for dry skin tones. No, I haven't used the Smashbox "dark" as a brozer but I think it would work. Don't want to say "Yes" and it doesn't though. My suggestion is to try it out at the store and see. Thanks for the positive thoughts about my green bag. :) -Kim

    It's best to stay simple. I'm not a big fan of the "stock" photos or characters that other people may also have on their cards. I did get a business card the other day that had the person's photograph on it like you would see on Facebook. It was actually a great idea because I got a stack of cards and it made it easier to remember him.-Kim

    Hi guys!
    I have decent skin myself and never use more than a translucent powder on my face but with wanting to become a makeup artist and of course needing to be good at foundation I was hoping to get some help.
    Maybe you could do a video describing the needs for red and yellow tones as well as corrector colors and how to decipher what color a client is and what colors they would need. Any help would be much appreciated :)

    Kim, I know that you have done a lot of work with Drew Barrymore in the past and I was wondering if you've gotten a chance to check out her new line of cosmetics called "Flower". I recently did an impromptu look on a friend using whatever she had in her bag and she had a few of her products. I must admit I was pretty shocked by the quality given the low price, especially the foundation stick.

    This is what I always tell new artists: (Many do not listen. lol) Most jobs call for simple beautiful makeup on the models or actors or brides, etc. Lead with clean pretty light handed makeup and hair and you can't lose. Be very careful with high fashion "looks" or special f/x. Ask your friends to be brutally honest with you. It might hurt your feelings but who cares? Better to know than go to an interview or post shots that are not that good. Also, better to show 1 good vs. 20 ok photos. -kim

  • @GreeneStreetBeauty
    @GreeneStreetBeauty  11 років тому

    If you have a water based foundation then you would thin it out with more water - if you have a silicone based foundation then you need the 244 Fluid (purchased at professional makeup supply stores like Frends, Naimie's or Nigel's). You need to find out what is the base of the foundation - water or silicone - you can't thin out a silicone base with water or a water base with 244 - make sense? - Melissa

    Hi Kim & Melissa, was roaming youtube vids and am so happy I seen your tutorials Kim. I need help with my makeup big time, wish you could do a make over for me. :D I'm 55 yr old but look 35 yr, baby face. I have hooded yes now too :( My fav foundation was Max factor yrs ago, but no longer available in US. I've tried so many others, but can't get that non makeup look. Currently I'm using Loreal Visible lift Creamy Natural. I have a very pale skin tone, do you have any advice? Tysm Joan

      Oh I loved Max Factor too! Made me so sad that they left the US. I've tried the Loreal Visible lift and I like it. Have you tried any tinted moisturizers for a no makeup look? I sometimes use that on clients and just use a heavier foundation or concealer in problem areas or discolored areas. Thanks for your positive words! -Kim

    That is going to be a bit more challenging and you are going to have to purchase a few in order to find your perfect match unfortunately - I would stick with Revlon - they make the best color range in my opinion - also, in my professional opinion, you should remember to think of your foundation like skincare - try a higher end brand if you have problem skin - better ingredients - Hope this helps - Melissa

  • @GreeneStreetBeauty
    @GreeneStreetBeauty  11 років тому

    Hi there - you can do all that you mentioned - 244 is a liquid that is found in foundation already so it makes for a nice thinner, but sheering out with moisturizer works great - you can also purchase a beauty blender or thin out foundation with a damp sponge (not wet, just damp). - decide which is best for you - Melissa

    Thanks so much for this informative video. Your tips are very practical and I have been able to incorporate them with my clients. • @xnobzx

    For deeper shades I LOVE Makeup Forever and, believe it or not, IMAN. I kind of wish that IMAN catered to all skin tones instead of just the darker ethnicities because I have found their foundation stick to be absolutely amazing. True, they usually need to be set fairly well with powder on most clients but they work and they work WELL! I'm also curious to see what Fashion Fair has in the works. I have a friend who works with them and she says to expect a lot of innovative things soon.

    I'm a MUD graduate, so I use the MUD palettes, and so far my body of work is nowhere as large as yours, but I've found them to be useful since I have to mix everyone's shade, and I can sheer it down or keep it full coverage. I was curious, since you use these individual foundations, how many of each do you carry in your kit on a given day? Do you have the entire range or just a few ranging from lightest to darkest? Also do you have a favorite foundation palette?

    Have you ever had the RCMA palette break up in consistency? I had the palette for about 6 months and it did that. It hadn't been used in a couple of months and was probably kept in a colder temperature room. I was able to smooth it out with a tool, but then it happened again. Any ideas or solutions?
