We try to bring out as many videos as we can - we are still working artists so sometimes we are on film sets, etc., and can't get as many videos up as we want too, but we appreciate you remaining a faithful subscriber! Wow, this was enlightening! But how similar that these rules apply to MOST professional client/provider environments. I worked in a restaurant that had a regular celebrity presence and not once did I ask to take a picture, etc. But was amazed at how many co-workers would blatently invade a celebs space. So if I ever get on a set for makeup I know now to get in, get it done, and get on my way!
Hahahaha! Brilliant! But the main point of this video, for me, was the kit in the background! I have 2 of them from 35 years ago! Great job Kim and Mel...oh the drama!
Ha I love you girls!! Sounds like common sense to me but I know what you ladies are talking about. Haven't been on high budget sets but I have still seen unprofessional ladies at their finest! Some good information thank you!

I never knew about back massages? I would have said nooooo. but I do mainly editorial shoots.
I also had a few occasions when the client came to me asking for my business card. I was very happy but then I didn't know what to do...I gave it to them but then I felt it wasn't right. But then I feel...well it's business too...it's a tough one.

In our business you have to develop a "thick skin" as they say, however handling people who are "difficult" is something that you will master over time as you continue to develop your career and become more confident on set. If the job is yours - meaning you are not filling in for someone or working as someone's assistant - then it is ok to pass out your card when you are asked for it. - Melissa

Could you talking about when you got started how u dealt with negative people, was it hard when you first starting working, were you nerves on set?, How do u deal with bitches girl, i have come across women who think there gods gift because they no how to look 'pretty' with make-up.

Back massages should not be initiated by you. It's really not professional unless you are very good friends with the talent - but remember other people are watching you and may not know that you are friends. If you are filling in on a set and someone asks for your business card you should refer them to the artist you are filling in for and maybe ask him/her for their card & you can pass it on to the MUA you are filling in for. - Mel
back massaging the talent?? never seen that before good grief! i'd go mental if i saw an assistant do that. More than anything I hate when an assistant asks to leave early, especially on a live show, that pisses me off the most. Such true insight Mel, we are seen as a necessary evil and the best mua's don't provide any additional fuel to think that. fab video ladies.. i could go on for days!
Love these tips. Question about biz cards: I often get hired as the only artist for 1-2 day jobs. I often hand out my card to producers or agency people on set at the end. Still bad set etiquette? I've had them ask for it, since I'm in Ohio and they often have traveled into town and don't have a contact here.
Kim and Melissa, thank you so much for this video! I'm relatively new to this industry (eight months out of mu college) and this helped iron out a lot of insecurities about my place on set. It's so funny that the first you thing you spoke about was massages-I worked with a relatively well known Australian actor and he asked for a massage, I did it because I didn't know how to say no haha. Needless to say it won't happen again. Thanks for all the tips!
I might just add that sitting on directors/ actors chairs is an absolutely no no... Thanks girls , great video as usual :)
