In 1985 and 1986 ITV showed a three race series sponsored by Gaymer's Old English Cider. The sponsorship deal terminated in 1986.
The format of the races were a 3km for ladies and a 10km for men. Glasgow held the first race & Cardiff the second. --Mick--
Apparently everyone run 10k under 29 minutes in the 80s!
Nowadays no one does it...
The runners who were sub 29 had ran sub 29 on the track too. Tim Hutchings had ran 13 '11" for 5k at the Olympics, class. This was an elite RR, not a parkrun.
Sadly, the performance standards of club distance athletes nowadays has dropped drastically!
John tuttle was NOT 2nd in Boston to Geoff Smith . It was Gary Tutlle way slower runner than John !!! It was the slowest Boston in the last few years.
