Great video! I have been using Avid for awhile but I want to learn how to stop using my mouse for everything. Is there a way we could get a download of your media composer profile? I would love have the same keyboard layout as you.
The Load Filler shortcut is such a helpful tool, especially when combined with the track selection shortcuts. Additionally, I have added Batch Re-Import (Batch Import) to my keyboard. I will use your workflow for After Effects/Photoshop stuff.
Yes! I have my freeze frame 10 secs at Shift-A -- Since I use more Shift shortcuts in premiere I plan to start using more in Avid as it keeps everything with my left hand
Brazil! Awesome to hear that man! Hit Command Palette Open (Ctrl-3) and with Menu To Button assignment button clicked on I opened the keyboard setting -- hit S and then navigated to Timeline -- Add Filler -- At Position. Cheers!
Really helpful! So if you reassigned A and S, how do you jump to the next or previous clip in order to do an Extend-edit, say? (With Extend, the playhead has to be in one clip after you have gone into the adjacent one to place the In/Out marker. Can you do it all with the left hand?) Hope you get up to Canada soon. Some good beer here.
I"ve been to Toronto and Montreal and yes, I so wish more beer from up there was in my local store! As far as jumping to next or previous clip I just move blue bar playhead with mouse to hover over a clip. Then definitely all with my left hand I'm hitting T and then Q or W and then move 1 frame to get to whatever exact point I need to quickly. Once you do it enough times it's like a stenographer. If you haven't seen it, search my video called "Never Use Trim Mode" I think it should explain this better than the comment. Cheers!
So the way I would do that is just put my mouse on the clip and hit T and then either Q for previous or W and 4 (one frame forward) for next. I knew an editor who lived by those keys but I find I don't really need to be on the first frame of the next or previous clip that often...maybe because i don't use trim mode. Cheers Carlos!
Hey great videos! I learn a lot from them : ) By the way I recently discovered that you can change the step forward/Back to 10 frames in Premiere. By going into Preferences then Playback, you can enter the amount under Step forward/back many!
Great videos. But I can't follow how you mapped exactly 10 frames in your load filler shortcut. I managed to map my key to LF but nothing happens when I try to use it in the timeline...lets say I wanted 1 second instead of 10 frames. how would I do that?
With Command Palette Open (Ctrl-3) and with Menu To Button assignment button clicked I navigated to Timeline -- Add Filler -- At Position. 10 frames is the default. I' not sure how to change that but if you ever do let me know. Thanks man! Cheers!
@@avidbeer Hey man thanks but it still doesn't work I have the Menu to Button assignment button clicked but when I navigate to the timeline I have to right click in order to see "Add Filler At Start" when I click on that I get filler added to my timeline. it doesn't map and the default for add filler at start was 30 seconds of filler
@@gizabutler1725 So it's confusing because there are so many timeline menus but try it from all the main pulldown menus at the top left like next to File - Edit -- Clip then Timeline --then it says "Add Filler" and then "At Position. If you don't get this I can email you a screengrab.
@@avidbeer ok...I did that but I dont get the AT POSTITION option now. the shortcut works but its add filler at start instead...oldergengames@gmail.com
@@avidbeer Thanks for all your help. your videos are totally helping me and I think my problem is that I am still editing on an Avid MC 2014. I just checked online and the add filler at position is something that came out in the 2018 ver
Could you make a video on the AVID & AE workflow? Like going in AVID, then exporting a clip to edit in After Effects, then exporting it back to import in Avid. Also great video thanks a lot!
Been using tab for extend for years! Great to see. For us lucky folks in the UK, dissolve is also on the backslash beside shift 👍
Anyone who uses tab for extend is someone I could drink with...cheers!
@avidbeer haha, a man after my own heart!
i mapped CTRL+ A and CTRL+SHFT+A on Q and S it's a big time changer , more easy for my old fingers to do it on one key only;)
Where I find the button "export" in the command palette to add to my keyboard?
Hey A -- hit Ctrl-3 and use "menu to button" -- Then hit the keyboard key you want and go to File > Output > Export To File -- cheers!
@@avidbeer thanks man! Thanks for the video too!

Thanks a lot Logan, email me at avidbeer@gmail.com and I can give you one of two options for that!
THX a lot ! I am not going to use avid but transfroming from fcp to davinci. I have seen many of your video today and i help me alot!
Make subclip and Transcode/Consolidate are the two big ones for me. I map them to function keys.

Hey! I forgot what video of yours it was but you also had some keyboard shortcuts mapped with your Shift + button.

Hi greeting from Brazil, thanks for the great tips, I have a question, how can I map loadfiller to my keyboard?
