Getting a thin, breathable pillow and an extra firm hdf mattress were lifesavers for me in my early twenties (I'm a back/side sleeper). I was getting a lot of neck and back pain which was at its worst right when I woke up in the morning; the exclusively thick pillows I was using, combined with the soft pillow-top mattress I had, were throwing my spine all out of whack! You might think that softer + fluffier = comfier but it turns out that that's just not the case. (It did take several nights to adjust to the new mattress, but after adjustment, it was like heaven!)
I agree Jared! There is so much information out there these days on what is the best position to sleep in. I would say every persons situation is different and you covered some very good advice! Great video
Oh great point, @bluwtrgypsy! My wife used this one during her pregnancies when acid reflux was high and it was a life saver! I hope these things help you, and thanks for commenting!
Most likely from the weight of your body restricting blood flow into your arm! The tips I share for "side sleepers" (especially tip 2 with the pillow) should help!
I'm 60 and find sleeping on my front with a japanese style pillow under a shoulder, so a sort of recovery position, is extremely beneficial when suffering from flu, asthma etc
On another channel the therapist showed how to stretch the glutes which I found difficult to do. I found a way. Go into a deep squat with your back against the wall and your heels as close to the wall as possible. Wrap your arms around your knees and pull toward your chest. I had some sciatic and it helped. Sciatica wasn't bad but it went away.
My primary concern would be with the amount of rotation at your neck with no pillow. But if you find it comfortable (for now, anyway) and you get a great night's sleep then I say go with it!
Actually I'm a back sleeper, tried your tips and finally woke up without neck pain. However, from that method, I woke up with lower back pain, how can I fix it?
Hi, I’ve had the same problem- I now use a thin pillow and support it under my lower back -you may have to move it around to find the right spot for you, but it works great once you figure it out..
There is no "best" position for me. I can't stay in any one position for more than around 30-45 minutes without feeling pain and having to shift. If i sleep on my back it hurts my lumbar area but if i sleep on my side my hips, shower and knees hurt. If i sleep on my left side my left shoulder hurts but ion my right side my pelvis hurts and i get wicked calf cramps. Sleeping in my stomach is a complete no go. Basically I spend the night rotating through various postings trying to mitigate the pain as best as possible. Doesn't matter if i have pillows under my knees when I'm on my back or if i have a pillow between my knees when I'm on my side. Frankly I hate going to bed because I know it's just going to hurt.
Dr Jared, for some reason, my neck feels much better without a pillow when I'm sleeping on my back. Is that OK to do or does it strain the neck?? Or is it pillow essential? Thank you!
Oh wow! Price has gone up, @niloo_atribecalledlove, but I guess the real question to answer is what would a person pay for years of a great night's sleep and no neck pain? (That answer is different for everyone!)
I have been applying some methods I learned from your channel regarding some posture fixures for the past two years and a half for 5 days a week. My neckache gone, my headache gone, my bad posture shape gone and my back and shoulders look amazing. It looks like as if I was just born in perfect shape! Can’t thank you enough❤I appreciate all of your help and valuable videos. I keep doing those methods and practices as my job involes sitting at computer for hours. I wish you a very healthy, happy , long , wealthy life. That’s my prayer for you as long as I live in this world. Thank you thank you❤
Thank you for this video. I love to sleep on my stomach but tend to roll from side to stomach. The pillow is key. Thank you for the options. Love all your videos.
Thank you for amazing video! How can I lock side sleeping position? Despite putting myself between a wall and a heavy pillow, I always end up pushing the heavy pillow away, moving my body, and sleeping on my back.
Idk what else to say, you are so helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Watched 5 of your videos and 5 out of 5 all helped me so much with my different issues/pains
Oooo, this was good! I start on my side, but end up on my stomach and always have neck pain! I am going to try that extra pillow under me and slide to the edge of my pillow!

Mine is my side, then my other side, then my back, then my side, then my other side, then my back, then my side....
Sounds like me 😊
Then my other back
I call that the rotisserie approach 😂😂😂 That’s mine too!
Then a handstand. Then a Roly poly 😅

You're the best!
What if you sleep on your side and your right hand and part of your arm is a little numb in the morning?

I have the same pillow and love it. I’m a side sleeper and will try these tips thanks!
It is a great pillow! Thanks for sharing!

ankylosing spondylitis sleeping on tummy best for spine
What about stomach sleeping with no pillow? I find it sometimes more comfortable to sleep with no pillow

That's what i do, I put my pillow under My belly and fell comfortable 😅

ironically I was watching this on a 7 hour flight with terrible back pain … and now I can finally test it !!!! 🎉😅
Ha ha! I hope it helps!
I have a question though, in my sleep I just keep turning around like a goddamn rotisserie chicken. So what do I do? XD
Same. What I do is I have so many pillows on the side so I can't move that much
@@HiroRavenVideos That actually sounds like a good idea, I'll try it when I go to bed. Thanks! :D

Im 68 I like to start on my left side but I like to sleep on my stomach and in that position I keep my head under my pillow 😊
Thanks for sharing!!
Im staying on my bqck. Sleeping on my side physically made my face less symmetrical

Wow your favorite pillow is $96!!!! Ouch.

If you have sleep apnea you can’t sleep like that..😊
He showed multiple positions for different sleepers…

This comment has made my day! I am so glad to hear you are feeling better!
What if you are a stomach sleeper and not using a pillow at all, should you still put a pillow under your abdomen?
😮at 4.06 your hand gonna tell the pain when you wake as a result off putting under pillow

Been trying to get rid of arm and hand numbness and neck pain since two days ago, what is the best sleeping position
Sorry to hear about your discomfort, @henochmacani965! Depends on your sleep position - the tips I share in the video should help. Good luck!
This is an amazingly accurate and informative video. You've nailed every issue I've had and informed me on fixing current problems. Thank you!
Great to hear!

How can I lock side sleeping position?
Despite putting myself between a wall and a heavy pillow, I always end up pushing the heavy pillow away, moving my body, and sleeping on my back.
A contoured pillow is actually much better than a wedge. It supports the neck, especially on back and side sleepers.

The problem can be solved with manipulating the pillow
